SPEAKER_01Watchmen, watchman, tell me what you see.
SPEAKER_00Our study today is about the absolute most important subject of the entire Bible, Old Testament, New Testament combined. And it's really sad to say that this subject has been taken for granted ever since Jesus Christ walked this planet. I'm sure you already know that Jesus is that subject. So the question is, how has he been taken for granted all this time? Well, let's look at John chapter 1 and verse 29. Jim it says, The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. That is one of the most promising, astounding, prophetic verses in the entire Bible. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. We've heard this and heard it and heard it. We've heard preachers preach on it, teachers teach on it. But I got a question. Why did John call Jesus the Lamb? Well we all know the Lamb represents innocence, right? And we know Jesus was innocent. But folks, what if there was more to it than just that? How powerful would that knowledge be in our daily walk with Christ? So let's look back just a little bit. Back in Matthew chapter 3, verses 13 through 17, the Holy Ghost had already revealed to John not just who Jesus was, but what Jesus was. So let's take a quick look at just what happened. Again, Matthew chapter 3 verses 13 through 17. And John tried to prevent him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me? But Jesus answered and said to him, Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he allowed him. And when he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water, and behold the heavens were opened up to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and resting upon him. Let's go back over to John chapter one and look at verse thirty-two. And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and he remained upon him, and I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, upon whom you see the spirit descending and remaining on him, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Ghost, and I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God. Verse 35 says again the next day, John stood with two of his disciples, and looking at Jesus as he walked, he said again, Behold the Lamb of God. So now we know that God has not only revealed that Jesus is his son, but he is also his lamb. But why a lamb? That just kept sticking with me. Why the lamb of God? It has to be more than just the innocence. All right. So how is a lamb going to take away the sin of the world? Folks, these are very important questions. And once you understand that it's more than just somebody telling you, well, he's the Christ, he's, you know, he's the Son of God. That's how he does it. There's more to it than that. And when we dig deeper into this, it gives you a much fuller insight as to just what Christ was doing. Of course, he came to remove the sin of the world. But how was he able to do that? Now you're probably thinking, well, he went to the cross. Jesus went to the cross, he died on the cross, he paid for sin, and sin was removed. Well, that's mostly right, but there's still a little bit more to it than that. What did he use along with his life to pay for the sin of the world? What else was there? And how did it work? Big questions. How did it work? Are we supposed to know this? Yes, we are, because it was revealed to us. Peter actually revealed this to us in 1 Peter chapter 1, verses 18 and 19. This is very, very important. Verse 18, knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things like silver or gold from your aimless conduct received by traditions from your fathers, but verse 19, with the precious blood of Christ as the Lamb without blemish and without spot. So the blood of Christ is what he used along with his life to pay the price of sin. And how do we know that it paid the price for sin? First John 1 and 7 says, But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. So he used his life and his blood to pay the price. But that brings us to another question. What made his blood so world-changing powerful? Now to find the answer to this, I had to do a little digging. Y'all may know this already, but I didn't. In modern immunology, sheep and horses are commonly used in the production of anti-venom. Now, immunology, I'm probably saying that wrong, but that's the study of the immune system, okay? Anyway, they're used to make anti-venom. See, when a lamb is injected with a controlled amount of snake venom, it naturally, that's a key word, naturally produces a high and effective quantity and quality of antibodies that neutralize the toxin. In both ancient tradition and spiritual metaphor, this aligns with the idea of the lamb's blood neutralizing the venom. Or spiritually speaking, you could say totally destroys the deadly poison of sin. You know, the whole time Jesus walked this planet, he's been trying to tell us this. The Bible itself has been trying to tell us this ever since Adam and Eve, according to some of the Old Testament scholars. The message is this always trust the blood, especially the blood of the lamb. And now we know why the lamb's blood is so very, very important. But we still hadn't answered the question as to why Jesus was called the Lamb. So let's look at Christ. Who was he before he was Jesus? John chapter one, one through five says, In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made, and without him nothing was made that was made. In him was life, very, very important, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Death has not overcome that life. And verse four said, In him was life, just like the Lamb, right? So up to this point, Christ was a pure blood. He was the pure Lamb of God. Now this next little bit of stuff that we're going to talk about may make some of you a little uncomfortable, but stick with me, and you'll see that I'm not taking anything away from Christ, but I am building on the fact of who and what he was to help strengthen us in our walk. Okay, so remember the lamb has to be injected with snake venom to be able to produce the anti-venom, right? John one and four, uh John one and fourteen, the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. When he came from God, he was full of grace and truth, and he still is now that Christ has been placed into the womb of Mary. The umbilical cord had to be attached to him so that he could live and grow and be born into this world and become flesh, like John said. So Jesus just received the blood of mankind through his mother Mary. So what's wrong with that? Well, that blood is cursed with the venom of death because of sin. So the Lamb of God was just injected with venom, and venom is mankind's blood, which again is cursed with death. Okay? Now, even before his birth, he had just become half God and half man. Before he was put in the womb, he was totally God. Now he is half God and half man, but he is still the pure Lamb of God with a purpose, and he's going to fulfill that purpose. So, what does the Lamb of God have the power to do? Just like the regular lamb, he supernaturally produces such a high effective quality of spiritual and physical so-called antibodies that will neutralize and completely destroy the toxic venom of sin in the blood. Now let's go back to John 1.29. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. It has a whole lot more meaning now, don't it? See, the sin is the venom, the toxin, the very poison that Jesus has taken away. Now we know why he's called the Lamb of God. And we also know how the Lamb is going to take away the sin of the world. And part of the most powerful understanding of this is what makes his blood so world changing powerful. That's why he is the Lamb of God, because that lamb was injected with the deadly venom of man's blood. That had the death curse on it because of sin, right? So John three verse fourteen through seventeen, and Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. And I know you all have heard these scriptures before, but John three sixteen is not the most important one of them. It is one, and it says, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. And folks, verse seventeen says, For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. That precious lamb that was carrying this miracle anti-venom for us that we could be relieved from that death penalty through his blood. Folks, there is absolutely nothing wrong in your life that the blood of this lamb cannot fix. Don't let the devil tell you any different. If you don't know him as your Savior, please call on him and ask him to forgive you of your sins and start building a true relationship with him today. Don't wait till tomorrow. He really is coming back to receive his people very, very soon. Eternity will catch up to all of us when we least expect it. Y'all be blessed. Let's keep watching. Everyone must be warned. And we don't have much time left. Y'all be blessed and keep watching. And remember, leave us a comment to let us know your thoughts and concerns.
