FOR MEN EPISODE ONE SNAPSHOT: If you want to know what a real man looks like, don’t start with culture. Start with Christ.

Culture will either soften men or savage men but Jesus shows us something stronger.

Not weak. Not reckless. Resolved. Anchored. Submitted. Strong.

And Romans 8:11 reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us.

In this episode, we unpack three marks of a real man:

  1. Conviction — He doesn’t compromise when it gets tough.
  2. Control — He doesn’t let pain or emotion control him.
  3. Commitment — He finishes what God calls him to do.

Because redeemed rebels don’t just hear the Word - they live it, and they lead with it.

Welcome to the Daily Rebel Saturday bonus edition for men who are done playing games with their faith and ready to live it for real. No excuses, no hiding, no fluff, just truth that hits your life where it actually counts. Because your faith isn't proven by what you say, it's proven by how you show up and live. So step up, man. Let's lock in and let's get to work. Welcome to the Daily Rebel Saturday bonus edition. And this one is for the men. And I want to say happy Easter weekend for you men who are listening to this episode. And this these episodes are going to be coming to you every single Saturday, the Daily Rebel for men. So here's the deal, man, if you want to know what a real man looks like, look, don't start with culture. Don't start with your favorite celebrity. Don't start with your favorite fit influencer. Don't start with your favorite wrestler, NBA player, golf. Start with Christ because culture will either soften men or create savages out of them. And it will tell you a man is either passive or uninvolved and or aggressive and unsumitted. But Jesus gives us something stronger than both. And I want to talk about the God man. I want to talk about Jesus, who wasn't weak, was not reckless, not loud for the sake of being loud. He was resolved, anchored, submitted, and he was strong. And Romans 8, 11 reminds us the truth that the same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us. And that means the life Jesus lived is not just something we admire, it's something the Spirit of God begins to form in us. And when you look at Jesus through the cross and resurrection, you see three marks of a real man. That's number one, conviction. You see control and you see commitment. Conviction, control, and commitment. So if you have a Bible, let's open them up, Romans chapter 8, verse 11. If you want to grow as a man, man, become a journaler, become somebody who writes things down. So here's the deal. Romans 8, chapter, uh, chapter 11, verse 8. It says this and if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his spirit who lives in you. So listen, before the resurrection, there was suffering. Before the empty tomb, there was a bloody cross. It's what we talked about on Good Friday, uh, how it was a bloody Friday. Before the victory shout, there was the silence of submission. You see, Jesus did not become strong when he got up from the grave. He was strong when he bowed in the garden. He was strong when he stood silent before accusation. He was strong when he stayed on the cross, when he could have had thousands upon thousands and legions of angels to rescue him. And Romans 8.11 tells us that that same spirit who raised him now lives in us. So this just isn't just a verse about someday resurrection. It's a verse about present transformation. It's a verse that tells us, but mainly, men, I want to I want to speak to you today through this verse, is you do not have to live trapped by your flesh. You don't have to be ruled by your emotions or weakened by passivity. The spirit of God is able to make dead things live. And if he raised Jesus, he can raise real manhood into you as well. So if you look back at the text, uh underline this, it says, and if the spirit, and if the spirit, Paul's not talking about an energy, he's not talking about good vibes, he's not talking about inspiration, he's talking about the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, the Spirit of God. The Spirit is not a force you tap into. He is a God, he's God dwelling in the believer. That means biblical manhood is not built on self-help. Because Adam sinned and fell short because he didn't step on the serpent's head. So he helped himself and his wife into sin. It is built on surrender to the spirit of God. And then in the text he says, of him who raised Jesus from the dead. And that phrase points to the Father's power working through the spirit in the resurrection of Jesus. This this is resurrection power. It's not symbolic, poetic, it's it's power. The same spirit who was present in the resurrection of Christ is the spirit Paul is talking about here. That means the spirit is not weak, he's not passive, not he's not distant. He is the spirit of resurrection. So if you feel spiritually dead today, maybe you're emotionally drained, maybe you're mentally defeated or morally stuck. Romans 8 11 says God specializes in bringing dead things back to life. And he says, the spirit who lives in you. So listen, he says, of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. See, that's personal. He doesn't live around you, not near you, not in you, not in buildings built by men, not the church building that sits there in brick and mortar. In you. The spirit dwells in you. If you belong to Christ, the spirit is not visiting, he's indwelling. That means you're not left alone, man. You're not left alone to become the man God calls you to be. You're not trying to muscle your way into holiness or white knuckle yourself. It's you are you you're literally not doing that into discipline. The spirit lives in you. And so the power of obedience is not external pressure, it is internal presence. And then the text says, Then he who raised Christ from the dead. So Paul repeats the resurrection truth because he wants it to land. The Father who raised Christ is the same God at work in you. The resurrection is not just this the centerpiece of history, it is the guarantee of your future and the source of your present hope. If God raised Jesus, then your sin is not stronger than his grace. Come on, man. Somebody need somebody needs to hear that. Somebody, somebody you need to say, Amen, that man, if there's, and I've heard this said before, that there is more grace in Jesus than there is sin in you. Your weakness is not stronger than his power, and your past is not stronger than his purpose. And then he says, Well, also bring your mortal bodies to life. So, yes, this points ultimately to future body resurrection, but it also reminds us that God's life reaches into our present weakness. Your mortal body speaks of your human frailty, your the limitations you have, the weariness you might feel, the vulnerabilities. But listen, God does not deny your weakness, he invades it with life. This means Christianity is not pretending to be strong, it is being filled with God's strength and your weakness. And he says, through the spirit. That matters. God's life does not come through your effort, not through image management, not through trying harder, not through any kind of masculine bravado that you can come up with. It comes through his spirit. So the man of God is not self-made, he is spirit-formed. And then the text says, Who lives in you? Paul says it again because he wants you to remember this truth when you feel weak. He lives in you. The Holy Spirit is not a theory, he is a present helper, a present strengthener, convictor, guider. That means the power to live like Jesus is not missing. And the question is whether you will lead to him. So when you look at Jesus through the lens of the Spirit, especially this Easter weekend, you begin to see what real manhood looks like, not by culture standards, but by Christ's standards. And Jesus shows us three marks of a real man. As I repeat, I'm gonna repeat this from the very beginning of the show. And that's what we're gonna dissect is a man of conviction, a man of control, and a man of commitment. Number one, conviction. He didn't compromise when it got tough. Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane is feeling the crushing weight of what is ahead. The betrayal of his disciples and Judas are close. The nails are coming in that moment. Jesus prays, Not my will but yours be done. Men, that's what conviction looks like. Conviction is not loud talk and easy moments, y'all. Conviction is obedience when compromise would be easier. A real man does not change his standard every standards every time pressure rises, y'all. A real man does not edit truth to fit the room, and a real man does not fold just because the cost got high. Jesus didn't compromise when it got tough, y'all. He stayed submitted to the Father. So this is the man who stays faithful to his wife when temptation is one click away, a man who keeps his word when lying would protect his image. Lee a man who leads with truth even when the room disagrees, a man who chooses purity even when lust is normalized, and a man who chooses integrity at work when cutting corners is rewarded. Listen, we live in a culture where compromise is marketed as wisdom. Do what works, do what feels right, do what keeps you ahead. And that's exactly what has got us into the sin that we're in. Conviction says, if God said it, I'm standing on it. That means men need conviction in their home. Some need conviction with their screens, some need conviction in their private life when nobody's watching. Because the test of a man is not what he says in public, it's what he refuses in private. Jesus shows us what a real man stands for under pressure. Here's number two. First one's conviction. Number two is control. He didn't complain when he suffered. Jesus was mocked, y'all spit on, beaten, humiliated, stripped, nailed to a cross. And yet scripture shows us a savior who remained controlled after crushing suffering. He wasn't weak, he was he was restrained. That's different. Control is not pretending you don't feel pain. Control is refusing to let pain control you. And a real man is not ruled by every emotion that hits him. Oh, Lord have mercy, I'm preaching to myself. He feels deeply, but he's not led blindly. Jesus didn't complain, he didn't lash out, he didn't curse his enemies, he stayed submitted under suffering. Listen, guys, this hits men right where we live because a lot of men today are either emotionally shut down or emotionally explosive. Some men stuff everything down until they go cold. Some men vent everything out until they go toxic. But Jesus shows us another way. The man with control by the spirit doesn't make his wife pay for his bad day, doesn't snap at his kids because work stressed them out. Those first two are something that I've had to remind myself of. Even when I get home, I I take a minute when I get home from traveling or even from work and I breathe before I walk in so I can be dad. A controlled man does not turn anger every time he feels disrespected. He doesn't whine when life gets hard. He doesn't need everyone to know heav how heavy his load feels. This doesn't mean he never speaks or gets real. It means he speaks with wisdom, not just reaction. So here's number three. Number three is commitment. Jesus finished what he started. On the cross, Jesus says, it is finished. The original language means paid in full. It doesn't say, he doesn't say, I'm finished, I can't do this anymore. This has got too hard. No, he says it is finished. That is commitment. Commitment is carrying the assignment all the way through. It is staying when quitting would be easier. It is finishing what God called you to do. Jesus did not abandon the mission halfway through. He did not start strong and fade when suffering increased. He finished. So listen, finishing is costly. And a lot of men start relationships, leadership, discipleship, fatherhood, callings, projects, disciplines, whatever. But some don't finish. They fade, they ghost, they disappear when responsibility gets heavy. But listen, commitment says, I will carry what God gave me. The committed man stays present in his family, keeps showing up when marriage gets hard, keeps leading when nobody applauds, keeps praying when he doesn't yet see fruit, keeps working when the process feels slow, and he keeps obeying when the results are delayed. Culture teaches men to chase novelty. Jesus teaches men to finish. And that's one of the clearest marks of real manhood. Not excitement, endurance, not hype, follow through and being holy. A real man finishes what God called him to do. And here's the gospel clarity. Listen, Jesus is not just an example to admire. He is the savior to trust, and he is the Lord to lead us. Because if all Jesus does is inspire you, you'll just you'll even press but unchanged. But if Jesus saves you and fills you with the Spirit and raises you into new life, then these marks become possible. Conviction, control, and commitment. Not because you're naturally strong, dude, but because the spirit of God lives in you. Romans 8 11 is not telling you to become a man through self-effort, it is telling you that the resurrection power is available through the indwelling spirit. You can resist compromise, man. You can live with self-control and you can finish what God calls you to finish. Not in your power, but in his. So here's the rubble close. Listen, where are you compromising? Where are you losing control? And where are you quitting before you finish? Because Jesus shows us three war marks of a real man: a man of being a man of conviction, of control, and of commitment. He didn't compromise when it got tough. He didn't complain when he suffered. He didn't quit before it was finished. He stood, he endured, and he finished, and he got up. Romans 8 11 reminds us that the same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. So don't just admire him. Follow him. Let the word of God lead you. Let the Spirit of God form you and become the man who stands firm, stays submitted, and finishes strong. Because listen, redeemed rebels, we don't just hear the word, they live it and they lead with it.
