#91 | Called, Chosen, Conformed | Romans 8:29-30 | The Great 8

Have you ever wondered if God is really finished with you?

Maybe you've looked at your failures, your setbacks, your struggles with sin, or your spiritual inconsistency and thought, "Maybe I've messed this up too badly." Romans 8:29–30 silences that fear with one incredible truth: your salvation didn't begin with you, and it won't end with you. From beginning to end, salvation is God's work. He foreknew. He predestined. He called. He justified. He glorified. Every verb points to the faithfulness of God. 

What theologians often call the "Golden Chain of Redemption" isn't meant to spark arguments—it was written to give believers assurance. Paul wants you to know that the God who pursued you before you ever pursued Him is the same God who is shaping you today and will one day bring you safely home.

In this episode, we unpack three powerful truths from Romans 8:29–30:

1. God Pursued You — Grace has always begun with God. Before you prayed, before you believed, before you cleaned your life up, God was already pursuing you.

2. God Is Shaping You — God's greatest goal isn't making your life comfortable—it's making your life look more like Jesus. Every trial, every delay, and every season has purpose.

3. God Completes What He Begins — Your security isn't built on your consistency but on God's faithfulness. The God who called you is the God who will carry you all the way home.

Ultimately, Jesus finished everything necessary for your salvation when He declared, "It is finished." Because Christ completed the work of redemption, you can trust God to complete His work of transformation.

Final Application:

• Where have you been doubting God's work in your life?
• Lift your eyes. He's still working.
• He's still shaping.
• He's still calling.
• He's still conforming.
• One day, He'll finish everything He started.

Because if God started the work...

And he's answering unanswered questions, God working all things together. And he answers the question how can I know God will not quit on me? Because salvation has always been God's work. The Golden Chain Of Redemption

golden chain of redemption. This is what R. C. Spro talks about. And he says, He foreknew, he predestined, he called, he justified, he glorified. So who's doing every action? God did. Every link is connected to him. I love AZ A.W. Tozer. Just read this recently that he um the reason we pursue God with urgency is because God is the one who put that urge within us to begin with. In other words, we seek him only because God called us to himself. He awakened us with his Holy Spirit, and now we're going after him. So the God who began your salvation is the God who secures your salvation. God finishes what he starts. Let me get all three points.

Point 1: God Pursued You

Number one, God pursued you. Grace begins with the Lord. Like I didn't go looking for him.

Grace Begins With God

God chased me down. Like Romans chapter 3, verse 11 says, No one seeks the Lord. But even though there's this eternity-sized hole in our hearts, we only seek him because he pursued us first. Paul says he foreknew. Throughout scripture, to know often speaks of a relationship. Before you prayed, before you believed, before you cleaned your life up, God was already pursuing you. Charles Spurgeon said, the hound of heaven is hunting you down. So grace has never been about you finding God. It's about God pursuing you. You didn't surprise God by getting saved because he was going after you and you received his love. And you won't surprise him by what by struggling. Here's why, because he still knows you're human. So stop living like your salvation depends on your performance. It begins with God's grace and it is sustained by God's grace. So God pursued you. Number

Point 2: God Is Shaping You

two, God is shaping you. The goal is Christ-likeness. Paul says he predestined us to be conformed to the image of his son. So that's the destinate destination, is to be like Jesus. And sometimes we think God's highest priority is making us comfortable. Paul says

it's making us like Christ. God uses suffering and trials, waiting and perseverance to shape his children. And God loves you exactly as you are, but he loves you too much to stay there. So listen, the goal isn't a better version of you. The goal is a life that looks more like Jesus every single day. So where is God using today's pressure to produce tomorrow's Christ-likeness? And here's number three

Point 3: God Completes What He Begins

Your Security Is Found In God's Faithfulness

is only secure when you've been saved. He says called, justified, glorified. He speaks of glorification in the past tense because in God's mind, it's already settled. Your future is so certain that Paul speaks about it as if it already happened. Heaven isn't held together by your grip on God. It's held together by his grip on you. The God who won't, who called you will not abandon you. The God who justified you will not reject you. And the God who started the work will finish it. Your security isn't found in your consistency, it's found in God's faithfulness. Jesus finished everything necessary for your salvation. Remember, he says it is finished because Jesus completed the work. God can complete his work in you. The cross guarantees what glory will complete. So wherever you've been doubting God's work in your life, lift your eyes. He's still working, he's still shaping, he's still calling, he's still conforming. And one day he'll finish everything he started. You are not an accident, my friend. God saved you on purpose for a purpose, and the goal isn't a better version of you. It's a life that looks like Jesus. And if God started that work, he will ultimately finish it. Listen, redeemed rebels,
