In today’s Wilmington Standard Daily Update for Friday, March 20, 2026, we tell the story of 19‑year‑old Iranian wrestling champion Saleh Mohamadi, executed by the Khamenei regime for daring to join pro‑freedom protests, after torture, forced confessions, and a sham trial with no real defense or appeal. While over 30,000 Iranians have been killed this year by a terror‑sponsoring regime that brutalizes its own people, especially women and dissenters, American activists will soon don inflatable dinosaur and cartoon costumes to “resist” President Donald Trump and his supporters, before safely going home to live and protest another day—luxuries Mohamadi never had.
This is the Wilmington Standard daily update for Friday, March 20, 2026. On Thursday, Saleh Mohamadi, an Iranian Olympic-class wrestler, was executed by public hanging at the hands of his government. He was accused of taking part in the January protests against the Khamenei regime. According to Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist and activist, Mr. Mohammadi did not have a chance. Reports indicate torture, forced confessions, no access to chosen lawyers, closed-door proceedings, no right to appeal. He was 19 years old. He joins over 30,000 Iranians who have been killed by security forces in Iran just this year by a regime that sponsors terrorism abroad and brutalizes its own people, especially women and dissenters, within its own borders. On Saturday, March 28, all across America, including here in Wilmington, thousands will gather to demonstrate in protest of President Donald Trump. To drive home their point, many will arrive sporting inflatable dinosaur costumes and chickens, or be dressed as their favorite Pikachu character, because Donald Trump and those who support him are just that dangerous. At the end of the day, they will deflate their costumes, wipe off their makeup, and take off their wigs, and go back to their homes and live to protest another day. Unlike Saleh Mohamadi. For the Wilmington Standard, I'm Reuel Sample. Thanks for listening.
