Cursed Cards
After the second great war had ended, the United Nations formed an organization to deal with the supernatural monsters and occurrences, known as D.E.V.I.L's. This is the story of a defector and how the world will be changed because of that decision.

SPEAKER_00Sorry I'm late. I just got some coffee. Nothing to worry about. Please have a seat. Thank you.
SPEAKER_02The detective found Agent Radio inside a cozy but high-end diner that was right on the water. They could spot the fairies that would bring people to New Jersey and back. It was a clear summer afternoon, and it was peaceful as it could be in New York in that moment.
SPEAKER_00I assume he has gone to say far will to Agent African.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And after an interesting meeting with a contact.
SPEAKER_00The word interesting and Mr. That then seem to pair well. Like rice and fish.
SPEAKER_01I haven't had that in a while. Do they serve that here?
SPEAKER_00They do, but I already placed your usual order.
SPEAKER_02Before Brie could let that comment sink in, a waiter brought over a salmon and r with rice for Agent Radio and a Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy for her. He politely smiled to both of them before quickly departing for his other customers.
SPEAKER_00How did I make it my priority to know things, Detective? Like I know that you had a run-in with Donald O'Malley.
SPEAKER_01How have you met them?
SPEAKER_00No. They don't seem interested in having an introduction with the likes of me, or even Amicus, for that matter.
SPEAKER_01Trust me. They aren't exactly good company. Despite their title being king.
SPEAKER_00Royalty is rarely worth visiting.
SPEAKER_02The two went silent as they began to eat. It wasn't as awkward as other meals Rhe had been to. The food was actually good. Neither seemed to be in any particular rush to continue the conversation. Eventually, however, the younger of the two spoke up.
SPEAKER_00Did the King of Cats give any information that would be helpful?
SPEAKER_01Both it and Klaus brought something up about the Morrigan?
SPEAKER_00The Morrigan? The war goddess of the Celtic faith?
SPEAKER_01They did mention something about her being rather aggressive. Yeah. I think they said whatever killed Mr. Murphy was potentially a soldier of hers. Maybe. They were rather vague.
SPEAKER_02The agent takes out one of her many notebooks and scribbles down things at a pace the detective was worried the paper may catch fire. When she was done, she put down her writing tools and looked back at Bree with genuine appreciation.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. This has been very helpful.
SPEAKER_01Has it? I had always assumed that the devils were on top of these kind of investigations.
SPEAKER_00We try to help with every type of mystical is this true. However, we are more specialized with exorcisms, housewards, and healing magics.
SPEAKER_01So mostly Christian practices?
SPEAKER_02Radiosfork hit her plate a bit harder than it had previously. There was a clear disdain for that comment, but Carmen took a sip of her coffee and swallowed such feelings.
SPEAKER_00A majority of standard prodigals do align with the Western religious practices, yes. But certain agents have specialties.
SPEAKER_01You did mention that you were a kinetics specialist?
SPEAKER_00Level 4 kinetics, yes. I should specify that that's my classification of abilities, not my field of expertise.
SPEAKER_01Phonetics? That sounds like some sort of engineering term.
SPEAKER_00That's a fair assumption. No, I'm not an engineer. I specialize in Buddhistic and Latin American mythologies, respectively.
SPEAKER_02Reed nodded, not really understanding what that necessarily entailed. She thought about asking what those mythologies were, or what kind of monsters came from them, but she didn't want to come across as ignorant. She decided to change topics.
SPEAKER_00So, what can you tell me about Klaus? I can do you one better.
SPEAKER_02The agent reached into a briefcase and pulled out of a folder with the naval silver tongue typed on the top tab. Bree almost giggled.
SPEAKER_01What is it? Nothing really. I just thought it would be a much bigger file.
SPEAKER_00Trust me, we have almost a full encyclopedia collection on that man. This is just some basic information to help you understand why he is the way he is.
SPEAKER_02The detective opened the file and almost gasped openly with what the pages held within. Speculated to have been born in the late 1910s, his first major appearance was during the late 1930s as a young witch that helped the Allies to deal with the Nazis all over the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Egypt. He seemed well versed in every language and a variety of types of mythologies. There were a few accounts that normal means did not hurt him, examples being knife attacks, gunshots, and even grenades seemed to be more of an inconvenience or like bee stings, as quoted by Agent Abacus in 1943.
SPEAKER_01Well, hang on. Last night he got a bloody nose from a civilian.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. It's something that should be looked into. Did you talk to the suspect before coming here?
SPEAKER_01They aren't a suspect, just a civilian that Klaus offended. And no, they didn't answer the door. They could have been at work or just didn't want to talk to a cop at 8 a.m.
SPEAKER_00Do you know their name? I can have them located.
SPEAKER_01Let's not be hasty. Once we are done here, I plan on going to the local church in Woodlawn and talking to the pastor there. I'm sure he'll have some answers.
SPEAKER_00Very well. Would you like myself or any other legionnaires to join you on this endeavor? We are quite like by the Catholic Church.
SPEAKER_01I appreciate the offer, but I plan on meeting up with Klaus once I'm done with that appointment. I think he can smell you look guys like the dog with me.
SPEAKER_00We do burn a specific combination of herbs, though make sure we can spot the things that lurk in the shadows. Defton is the one that gave us the blunt.
SPEAKER_01I'm learning so much right now. Thank you. Do you mind if I keep this?
SPEAKER_02She was far from done with that file, and she did not know how much time she was going to have before Klaus called to her. Rio seemed to take the hint, nodded, and the two finished their reel in relative silence. They didn't plan for another meeting. After the current case was closed, they said their farewells and pre quickly made her way to the church, curious about how things were going between Klaus and this abacus.
