This is the Conspiracy Journal Podcast. The transmission starts now.

Greg

How's it going, everybody? Uh welcome back, I guess.

Bobby

Hopefully back. That's a good thing. Yeah.

Michelle

Welcome back.

Bobby

If you haven't been here, I can't hold that against you.

Michelle

That's true. Welcome.

Greg

Yeah. This is the Conspiracy Journal Podcast. My name is Greg. This is Michelle. Hello. And Baby. Babe. Baby. Cool. I have some fun stuff today.

Michelle

Whatcha, whatcha, what you got?

Greg

What do you guys know about skinwalkers? Quite a bit.

Michelle

The ranch.

Greg

Everyone, I think, um, that has heard the term skinwalker thinks of Skinwalker Ranch for sure.

Michelle

I can't help it. It's molded into my mind.

Bobby

Yeah, when I said quite a bit, that was a lie. Yeah. I have heard of Skinwalker Ranch. And I think I maybe watched a documentary on it once.

Greg

I have a story about one that's relatively recent, the past four years. It's in 2021. Down in North Carolina.

Bobby

So not at the ranch. Not at the ranch.

Greg

Nah. Yeah, this one's kind of crazy.

Bobby

I also have a little bit like Oh, as opposed to those normal skinwalker stories. Yeah. The real straightforward mainstream skinwalker company.

Greg

This one's a little bit different just because it has an actual like police call attached to it. The police chief of the town that happened in is on record talking about it. He's given interviews about what happened. The person who witnessed it, who made the uh original phone call, didn't want to be named. Um, there is a video interview with him.

Michelle

It's like kind of shot over the shoulder from the back, still unidentified, but this guy like that old like silhouette footage.

Greg

No, no, no.

Michelle

Just that's okay.

Greg

Yeah, no, it's just like shot from the side. Yeah. Um, so you still see him, but it's kind of interesting. A lot of people would want to say it was fake, but like, why make the phone call? Why stick around? Why give all these uh reports to the cops? Like, sure, there are there are probably crazy people that would want to do that, but there's just so much of the story that actually leads me to believe, and I'm sure other people at the end of the day, this could be a hoax, but I like there's there's too much in it, and I'll I'll read through verbatim, like his account of the story, too.

Michelle

Okay, okay, all right. You, in all fairness, did ask me how much I know, and I pretended, like Bobby, to know anything, and it turns out I know nothing.

Bobby

I know first I what's a skinwalker? Yeah, what's a skinwalker?

Michelle

And what's the ranch and what's what's any of it?

Greg

All right, we'll just jump in. The word skinwalker. I know a lot of people would hear that and think, oh, I heard that on TikTok or something, or skinwalker ranch. Um, it didn't start on Reddit, and it definitely didn't start in Pender County, where our story today takes place. In Navajo tradition, the Yi Nal dushi refers to a witch capable of shape-shifting into animals. Sweet. Yeah, it is it is a deeply rooted spiritual belief tied to Navajo cosmology, ceremony, and taboo. It is not a monster in the cinematic sense, it is a person who has crossed into dark ritual practice. But in modern America, the term has drifted quite a bit. Today, Skinwalker has become shorthand for something that looks human but isn't. Something that moves a little bit wrong, something that mimics people, essentially. Okay. Part of that can be traced to a property in northeastern Utah known as Skinwalker Ranch. The ranch gained national attention in the 1990s after reports of unexplained cattle mutilations, large wolf-like creatures immune to gunfire, uh, UFO sightings, poltergeist style activity, anything that you could probably think of paranormal that was the hub before.

Bobby

A skinwalker ranch episode for sure. It's probably gonna be a multi-part. A lot of hot action. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I do, I just gotta say this because it was so wild to me. I love maps. I'm looking at Google Maps a lot.

Michelle

You do. I got that about you.

Bobby

Checking out Skinwalker Ranch one time. Like, let's have a look at the property, see what's going on. And I ended up on Zillow, I believe.

Michelle

Is it for sale?

Bobby

Holy shit. I it was not for sale, but there was an adjacent property for sale. And on this property was like not like official or regulated, but was just a dirt track raceway. It was just like a blank piece of property with just a dirt racetrack. Nice. And I was like, man, that would be pretty fun. Just hicing you up. To have your friends come over and just like have some junk cars. And it's like, do you want a race? Do you have a spinal injury? No, do you want one? Like, let's go. Let's have some fun. Yeah. You know, I was just like, man, how fun would it be to just have a dirt track raceway on your property and also get haunted as fuck by skinwalkers.

Greg

Grab a helmet and get going.

Bobby

Yeah. I'm there. Let's go. Yeah. Okay.

Greg

The property was later investigated. This is kind of where everyone knows it from, um, by billionaire Robert Bigelow. And studied Bobby Bigelow. Bob Biggies. And studied by the National Institute for Discovery Science in the 2000s. It became associated with Pentagon interest in unidentified aerial phenomena. I fucking hate that term. Like just let's just keep using UFO.

Michelle

I know.

Bobby

Yeah.

Michelle

Why change it?

Bobby

Also to something that's the exact same. It's the same.

Greg

Yeah. They just changed. Yeah. It's so annoying.

Bobby

Somebody got paid to do that.

Greg

But yeah, as they were doing that, it was like through what later became publicly known as AATIP, which is Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program.

Michelle

Oh, yeah, I talk about that all the time.

Greg

Whether you believe the ranch is paranormal or simply a magnet for folklore layered into unusual events, it changed something for I think everybody culturally in terms of how we speak about these types of activities. It fused together UFOs, cryptids, and ushered in the word skinwalker to our vernacular. That's where we get like our modern term for skinwalker. Even though it does come from a Navajo tradition and a word that essentially means the same thing. That's essentially what we're talking about today. We're not talking about witches or anything. So yeah, with all of that, like a little bit of context in terms of like the like how the word's going to be used. It brings us to July 31st, 2021. The story today takes place takes place in Pender County, North Carolina. Carolina.

Michelle

North Carolina. That sounded like you were from there, yeah.

Greg

You know what I'm trying to say here. Yeah. Pender County is rural. There, it's just long stretches of like two-lane highways that cut through a pine forest and farmland. At night, there are miles with like no streetlights. Headlights become your only reference point. The population is modest, just over 60,000 people. Many live on acreage or back off of secondary roads. So it's just full of like wildlife crossings and things like that. It's the kind of place where deer pop out of the woods just in time to ruin your night and your car as you blast through them with your F-150.

Michelle

I drove one of those ones.

Greg

And on the night of July 31st, 2021, a driver dialed 911 while on those back roads. I want to play you the 911 call and then we'll continue.

Michelle

Oh god, I can't breathe. 911 calls, get me right in my heart. Okay, give it to me.

Greg

You want to hear this?

Michelle

I do. Nah. Okay, there we go. Okay.

911 operator

What's the adventure of your emergency? I just call it the river, and I think it's on the eye. Okay, so when you say something like a turkey, a deer turkey.

witness

I don't know if you heard that bang before I started screaming, but I heard a bang.

911 operator

He said he was covered in blue.

witness

It looked like he was waiting for his head in heavily because it was going down a torso and he was he had no shirt on.

911 operator

And was he white, black, Hispanic?

witness

It was white, and he was staring at me as I drove by just blankly.

Greg

So I'm cutting it there.

witness

Okay.

Greg

The creepy music kind of added a little.

Bobby

That wasn't part of the call.

Greg

But I know like it might have masked some of the things. Um it's actually hard to everywhere I tried to find the call, the call was broken up into a lot of different chunks. Um, especially like the the main part of the call that like I just want to focus on. That was the one where it was just unedited straight through, but it did have like that layer of music in, which is what it is. Um, but the actual call itself, too, was about 11 minutes long. And it includes him staying on the phone with the officers, essentially just racing the fuck away from the place, got to a gas station, and then like the sheriff's office was showing up.

Bobby

So I'm sorry, that was the that was the uncut beginning of the call that we just said.

Greg

This was the beginning of the call. Okay. Yeah, that this was like uncut, except for I just didn't know if there was like a cut in the middle.

Bobby

I mean, obviously it was the beginning part, but yeah.

Greg

Okay, so from that point on, right at the end there, he was saying what he did was uh he hit the brakes and it flew over the roof and like rolled into the street. And then he um has an account too of what it looked like when he's retelling the story to police what actually happened, which we'll get into. It's a real recording of a 911 call placed at 11 p.m. on July 31st, 2021, in Pender County, North Carolina. The verib verifiable details that the caller reported in the call are accurate. There are third party people that listen to the full 11 minutes and they cross-checked all the details. They made sure even the distance the caller said he had driven back to check out, and like everything checks out. Everything makes sense. The caller didn't just take off either. He waited around for Pender County Sheriff's Department officers to arrive, and he fully cooperated with the investigation. This means an actual person out there is willing to stand behind this crazy story. It wasn't just I'm making a fucking prank phone call to the cops. And then the cops, they did obviously didn't find anything. That was in keeping with the 911 call, too. The dude said he slammed on the brakes, and the inhuman thing in his truck bed flew out, landed on the road, and took off into the woods. Even the sheriff took the incident seriously enough to open up a file about it, use state resources to look into it, and later do an in a full media interview on everything. Uh the reports and the interview with the guy who made the call. I'm gonna uh I'm gonna read verbatim the interview that he had. I just transcribed it. I clipped out short little areas of like where the interviewer was like chiming in and giving his own like little commentary and notes. So everything I'm gonna read is essentially verbatim what happened to this guy. It's so weird because it he has like it's one of those things I know from the like other things that we've talked about, where like he has nothing to gain from this. He doesn't he doesn't want to even be shown. Like he's like, Don't use my name. I will give you all the information. Like, my truck's fucked up. Yeah, there might have been a guy out there bleeding. Like, I yeah, I was concerned enough just for that, then this other shit went down.

Michelle

So many of these stories where we ask ourselves, like, why would you make this up? Like, what is there to gain? Is it money? Is it fame? Do you just want attention or whatever? You know, and it's like if it's a guy like this who's like, I want to be anonymous, this is her like it always ends up ruining people's lives, you know. It never nobody doesn't work out, yeah. Yeah. And so somebody doesn't want to give their name, doesn't want to be seen, doesn't want people to know that this is them, for some reason I believe them more, you know. I like I understand that that can be a manipulation tactic, but it's working and it makes me believe them.

Bobby

And stop me if you're gonna get into this later, but you mentioned that like his truck was messed up. Yeah. What do we know like what kind of damage was there, like blood or like animal semen in the bed? Like whatever was going on because it's like a big thing. Yeah, yeah, aluminol.

Greg

This weird skinwalker just jacked off in the bed of his truck. It's like, don't look at me.

Bobby

I mean, he was like, it's about there, it's doing something, you know.

Michelle

It's not human.

Greg

Yeah. I get into like what damage was actually done. That's actually part of his. You can tell, like, he's like, there are scratches and things that like obviously it might have been a squirrel or a branch, but like there are obvious gashes like through the roof of his truck that he's just like that's man.

Bobby

I'm having a weird flashback that I'm not gonna get into of like a buddy. Like, I saw these two guys that I knew like get into like a crazy fight, and one of them drove off with the other one in the back of the truck trying to smash the window out while he was driving. Oh, so I have like a real like image of like what this guy is going through, yeah, and like how crazy it is to like have somebody doing something in the back of your truck while you're driving. Yeah, is really like jarring and disorienting and weird and and crazy. Yeah.

Greg

When he says it lands in his truck, in the video interview, he does like this motion. I wish you guys could see it, but like it's almost like how you would expect like a spider to like jump and land in something.

Michelle

Oh, okay. I'm picturing like how a superhero lands. No, like you know the one knee down. One knee down, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.

Bobby

Eyes cast gently downward, then look up.

Michelle

That's right. Maybe a little flash of lightning behind them, a little backlit, you know? Oh yeah, wink. Yeah, yeah.

Greg

Keep don't I'm sorry. Let him describe uh what it was. Um, let me get into this. So this is again verbatim, minus a couple little things from the interviewer himself, but I'm just gonna read what he said. At the time, I was going to a trade school down there, and when I was driving up here to where the incident occurred by the battlefield, it was already easily like well into the morning. I wasn't looking at my phone. I just know it was pitch black outside, and it was pitch pitch black. And like given like I'm assuming like the back roads of a rural county, like I can also very much picture that. Like there's just nothing, it's just your headlights out there.

Bobby

Yeah, yeah, definitely. And yeah, so anything that comes into your field of vision with your headlights is like very pronounced.

Michelle

Jarring, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.

Greg

He says he continues, I couldn't see the moon, stars, nothing. Just barely the road through my headlights. And I had my window down because the AC wasn't working the best, and I was coming around. There's a massive right curve right before you cross the Black River, and then after that, you have the battlefield. So on that massive black curve, um, I'm coming around. I had just started the curve and I was about a third of the way through it, and I look over into the ditch on my right because I caught a quick glimpse of something. And as I take a further look, it looks like there's, I'd say, probably a 30-something year old man standing in that ditch wearing what looks like an old Civil War uniform, just covered head to toe in blood, and the uniform was torn as well. That threw me off because I didn't expect to see it.

Michelle

Um understated a year.

Greg

I didn't expect to see it at like one, two, or three o'clock in the morning.

Michelle

Or fucking ever.

Bobby

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's not when the Civil War ghosts are typically out. That's true. Yeah, yep.

Michelle

We usually only allow them out one night a year, and tonight it's not that night.

Greg

Yeah, yeah. And he says, uh, well, I'm calling 911 after I see him to report that because uh, for all I know, I could have just been a normal guy that it could have just been a normal guy that was injured and needed emergency help. It looked what had happened is he hit his head on something and the blood was just pulling down over his face and torso.

Bobby

Cannonball.

Michelle

Yeah, and well into a ditch.

Greg

And well, as I was calling, you know, uh everything seemed perfectly normal. Just a quick phone call to 911, let them know hey, there's a guy out here, and try to find somewhere safe to park so that way I can take them to him.

Michelle

Makes sense.

Greg

That's all he was trying to do.

Michelle

Yep. Stand up guy.

Greg

And he says, as you know from the 911 call, as soon as I reported that, I already had my window up at that point. All of a sudden I heard a massive bang on my truck, and my truck bounced down from the rear like I was pulling a heavy trailer and hit a pothole. And so I'm sitting there going, What the hell was that? Which I'm pretty sure you heard me yell, what the hell? I turned, I turned on my bed light, essentially the light that shines into the back bed of the truck and looked in my rear view mirror. And all I saw was this white, snow white face right up against my rear windshield, like it was looking into my truck trying to see what it could see. It had shallow, sunken eyes, had no nose. Just think if you took skin and put it on a human skull and stretched it real thin.

Bobby

Beautiful.

Greg

That is so crazy. Like, oh man.

Bobby

It's uh this some real X-File shit, man. Yeah, for sure. From the all of the like account, the like way the like truck bed moved when it like popped.

Michelle

Oh my god, yeah.

Bobby

This feels like an episode of the X-Pyro. It really does. Yeah. This is the opening scene. Yeah, first season. Yeah.

Michelle

Creepy creep town. Yeah, for sure.

Bobby

Creepy creeptown, that's what it's called.

Greg

Yep. He says he couldn't see any ears, and just that, and and immediately I started screaming. Like that's all he saw was sunken in eyes, no nose, stretched thin skin.

Bobby

Is he on the phone right now? Yes. This is during the call. Is that when he screams that's not human? Yes. Okay. I remember that part.

Michelle

Yeah, yeah.

Greg

He's like, I just started screaming. I didn't realize until afterwards that I had said that's not human on the call because it was the first thing I started screaming, because I was terrified. I didn't have my firearm with me, nothing. All I had was a wood splitting axe. So that's all I had. And my truck is loud, as is loud as it is, and it picks up speed fairly easily. Well, my truck at the time it had gas-powered six-liter V8 Vortec. I like that he's specific about this engine.

Bobby

Well, listen, yeah. Okay, let me tell you what I'm working with.

Michelle

Yeah.

Greg

Yeah. Um, and it was a proper dual exhaust, hence why I had the window up. That truck is nice and loud. Um, well, I'm going between like 55 and 60 miles an hour when this happens, and it just stomped. So I just stomped on the gas for a second. When I looked at the speedometer before I slammed on my brakes, I was doing maybe 80. And I slammed on those brakes with all my might, and I went from 80 to about 35 in just a couple of seconds, and all I see is just a super scrawny long body just fly over the fly over my truck and ball up rolling on the ground as I'm. Then I swerve to the left and get back in the travel lane, and I floor it.

Bobby

I gotta say, like listening to the call, it's it sounds like he's still. And I was like, this sounds weird. And I was like, why is he not doing stuff? But what you just described is exactly what I would do. Yeah, and in that like slam the gas, then slam the brakes, like that's like, yeah, that's that's the move to make, especially when you're dealing with the VA vortec. Of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Michelle

Totally gun it.

Greg

Yeah, that's right.

Michelle

Punch it, gun it, break it.

Greg

And then as I'm swerving to the left, I see it stand up and it is easily taller than that truck.

Bobby

Oh, kill it, kill it to death. Oh, tall white, dude. Yeah, tall white.

Greg

Um, and he's like, I'm five foot ten. The truck is about two inches taller than I am, and this thing was easily maybe seven feet. No. Scrawny. No. Tall man's five.

Bobby

For some reason, the fact that it's like skinny seven feet is creepier than if it was like full-figured seven feet. Truly, truly, yeah. But that makes it seem creepier.

Greg

As I'm past it, I look into my mirror, I see it bolt to the left into the woods. And it looked like some again, this is transcribed, so I'm trying to be as accurate to how he said it, and it's he's it's written how he was talking, and it's hard for me to kind of space that stuff out. Where was I? Here.

Michelle

Uh bolt to the left, to the left.

Greg

Yeah, I see it bolt to the left into the woods, and it looked like some I don't even know what the hell, because it had it looked like somebody took a normal human and stretched them out, starting with the limbs.

Michelle

Weird.

Greg

Gross. Like an abnormally long legs and arms, and it just took off into the woods. I just said, nope. I'm out of here.

Michelle

Yeah.

Greg

I'm not staying to figure out what this is. And there's a gas station all the way at the corner where the highway intersects. So I pulled into that gas station.

Bobby

That's an underrated. Life maneuver. Nope. Nope. Nope on out of there. Nope on out of there. Some shit is weird. Some shit is spicy, is unquestionable. You're unsure. Just nope on out of there. Don't regret it.

Michelle

It's my go-to.

Bobby

Somebody's yelling something at you at night on the street and you don't understand what they're saying. Don't stop to find out. Just nope on out of there.

Michelle

Nope.

Bobby

Yep.

Greg

Well, that's exactly what he did. He continues saying, I was going like 90 all the way to that gas station because that was the only place with any light that I saw. And I just stopped in that parking lot and waited like 10 or 15 minutes for state troopers to show up. Well, next thing I know, the state troopers show up at the gas station, and I'm just staring back at the road to make sure that thing's not coming back.

Bobby

I quit smoking a long time ago. Oh my god, I was just thinking of the same thing.

Michelle

I am smoking a carton of cigarettes in my mouth, 20 of them at a time. 10 to 15 minutes.

Bobby

Yeah, I'm just showing shot and riggies till the cops get there for sure. 100%.

Michelle

It doesn't count.

Bobby

It doesn't count.

Greg

You get like a hot dog or something too.

Michelle

I am literally vomiting and smoking. That's all I can do. That's it. That's all I got in me.

Greg

Gross.

Michelle

Yeah, sorry. It's feels right though. Feels accurate.

Greg

They proceed to look at my truck, look in the bed of the truck, look on top of the cab and on top of the cab, clear as day, you can see like it was scratching trying to get into my truck. Or when it it initially hit what or if you another way to look at it is if it when it hit the back of my truck and landed in the bed, it had like latched onto the hood for a second and scraped, trying to balance itself. And like you can see that. So it is just like on there. It was saying he was going 60 miles an hour.

Michelle

Yeah, this this tall white guy is surfing the back of his truck.

Greg

While he was going at that speed, it hit his truck, landed, and then it's like and now it's gripping on.

Michelle

Got it.

Bobby

Really affecting the resale value of the 150. Yeah, for sure. Disappointing, yeah.

Greg

He's like, you could see that clear as day. I mean, there was a couple of scratches from like squirrels and tree branches, but those stuck out because it looked like it had just ripped back.

Bobby

I'm just picturing him selling the truck. People are like, What's this? He's like, Well, that one's a squirrel. That one was a tree branch. This one skinwalker. Skinwalker.

Michelle

Seven foot tall skinwalker, no bigs. I would imagine also that like right then and there, fresh scratch marks probably look a little different.

Greg

Yeah. Yeah. There's like normal wear and hair, I'm sure you would see. That's why he's saying it's clear as day that like this is something crazy in the mood that just happened. Uh they asked me to take them approxim to approximately where it happened. And I mean, when it's the middle of the night and you're going in the opposite direction of where you just came, your sense of direction is a little off. So I took them back to approximately where I believe it was because I couldn't see. I didn't remember any landmarks because I was going from the other way. I think I might have taken them on accident to that S curve, but the incident happened before the S curve that was in the road. Because I hit that curve going about 65 or 70 miles an hour. Uh I still remember the jolts of the truck, the fear, everything. I remember pretty much everything just in that one moment. I looked at the truck the next morning. Sure enough, scratch marks are right there on the roof of the truck. The law enforcement officers, when they show up, they were skeptical. Although now they might not be as much. Um, but at the time, the troopers especially seemed skeptical. Obviously. Obviously. So Parks and Wildlife, when they flew the drone, they seemed more curious than anything. EMS was more like, are you okay? And they went and looked for the other guy and couldn't find him. So the state patrol were there, EMS, wildlife, the sheriff's department. I still refuse to drive through that area at night because I don't know what I saw. I don't ever want to see it again. Yeah, no kidding, man.

Michelle

That's uh I don't ever want to see it myself. I didn't even see it.

Bobby

How did this get dubbed uh a skinwalker? Is that what makes the most sense? Or yeah, I think uh is there an authority? Like did the commission.

Greg

I think I'm I'm refer more people online are calling it a skinwalker than anything else. And like it's kind of just known as the Pender County creature. If you did like a search for that, you would find a couple of articles about it. There is one one guy that kind of went down and did like a full interview. He interviewed the sheriff, he interviewed the guy who this actually happened to. Like, all of that information is known except for like the public, like the public use of the guy's name.

Michelle

Um did this uh investigator show all of these people mug shots of like what a skinwalker looks like and like what a poltergeist looks like, and they picked the one that yeah, pick what does it most likely represent? Yeah, was it Bat Boy? Was it the you know Yeah.

Greg

The documentary, it's it's shot kind of documentary style. Um it's probably about 20 minutes long. Um and it's it's done fairly well, and it's it really just lays out the facts. The guy just talks about the the area where everything happens. The battlefield itself is named. I'm I'm surprised I didn't I I got it. You got it?

Bobby

Yep, it's the Morris Creek National Battlefield. That's it. Yeah, and uh yeah, just looking at the map, as I said, I love maps. Um so just you can re you can see the curve that he's talking about the that goes over the Black River in that area. And this is just this just happened to be on the map when I was looking that the house from the film The Conjuring is right there in shop. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. So which I believe is like all based on a true story.

Greg

Yeah, for sure, for sure. And that's a thing too, that's what's mentioned in um some of the articles I was reading on this, where it's not like this county is known for anything. Like it's not like there's like this like touristy hot spot that like you can go down, like there's nothing really there. It's just some rural county. So, like a lot of people were also thinking, like, oh, if you're gonna bullshit this and fake it, like even if it was a hometown thing to draw some sort of attraction, there's literally nothing to be attracted to. There's nothing, there's nothing there that this would have like been used for as some sort of marketing ploy or something. Right.

Michelle

So yeah. Again, why? Yeah.

Greg

Yeah.

Michelle

Like, why, why would you lie about it?

Greg

Yeah, it's it's it it doesn't really make too much sense. The initial reason for the call to 9-1 was one one nine one one was was that there was a guy on the side of the road bleeding. Yeah, and he's like, hey, like there's a fucking guy out here who might be like needing some help. Right. Um, and then all of this other stuff took place. Yeah, but they couldn't find the guy that he originally saw, and obviously the monster, skinwalker, or whatever we're calling it, the creature, um, disappeared into the night as well.

Michelle

I have my biggest question that I hate uh having to stop myself from just screaming at you is was there any evidence? Is there a piece of blood or a piece of anything uh pieces of blood everywhere?

Greg

Anywhere blood pieces, yeah.

Michelle

Come on, give me some blood.

Greg

I need blood chunks, bro.

Michelle

Give me a piece of blood for God's sake.

Greg

There was uh there was no like biological evidence outside of the scratches. I'm not even I'm not sure they didn't get into it, but I'm not sure if like they even bothered doing any kind of like sampling of the scratches to see if they could get anything off of that.

Bobby

It would be hard, like just I haven't had this experience, but I have like you know, sometimes you lose shit at a high rate of speed, maybe it flies out of the back of your truck or something like that, right? And to like pinpoint where that was on a road is extremely difficult. Oh yeah, and so like I mean it would have taken the cops who were kind of skeptical, you know, and like probably not trying to do that, like a long time to put to potentially find nothing, right? You know, if potentially nothing is left behind, but to also find the actual spot, maybe where this creature was standing, also like where it landed after he did his little maneuver. And you could hear pretty difficult.

Greg

You could hear the woman um who was taking the 911 call also saying, like, was it a turkey? Yeah, and it's just like yeah, or a deer. Yeah, there are plenty of times, like, or like a wild boar or deer, like whatever. Like you might hit an animal and you don't kill it, just runs off.

Bobby

He described that and she's like, You mean like a turkey?

Michelle

I know. Yo, turkeys are terrifying.

Bobby

They are terrifying, and they can be. If you see a turkey face up close, it looks like an alien creature.

Greg

Yeah, and they can they can get pretty fucking big. And like there's in others, awesome videos of like like three turkeys just sitting on this dude's car and he's like trying to go to work. Yeah, and they're just like, Nope, you're not going anywhere. So I get like it's also difficult. The dispatcher's um point of view of just like, well, you have like explain to me what happened, and the guy is just like all he could muster in that moment was scream, it's not human. I know, yeah, yeah.

Bobby

Initially, that sounded like a weird thing for him to say in that moment. After hearing his description of like what was happening in that actual moment, I was like, Yeah, who knows what the hell you'd say? Like in that moment, and also the fact that he's like, I don't I don't remember saying that. Yeah, you know, yeah.

Greg

Like that's like being terrified, and that's the only thing you can think to muster is crazy.

Bobby

That's the only thing that you can say that makes any sense in that moment is that's not human. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think when especially because he very clearly like saw a guy.

Michelle

Right.

Bobby

He's like, I saw a guy. Yeah. There's a guy, a bloody guy, and then he's like the bloody guy's in my truck, and he's like, That's not a guy. That's not a guy.

Michelle

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, that also again back to that idea of like gaining some type of credibility with me, anyway. When he says in the interview that he doesn't even remember saying that, but he's like, I guess I said it's not human. I I can hear myself yelling that. Yeah, you know, like that for me is like instead of uh whatever the opposite of a red flag would be, like a grid, that's a green flag. That guy's telling the truth, you know? And again, I know that people can lie um and do things like this to manipulate me into believing them, but it's working. Again, it's working. I'm a believer.

Greg

And there was enough evidence for the sheriff himself to like put out like all of these, like use all of these resources to figure out a lot of people that you named.

Michelle

Like there's drones, there's EMS, there's you know, the parks and parks, parks, department, parks and wildlife. Yeah, he called everybody in these scenarios.

Bobby

I always love that like all of the skeptics, like the local, they always like ascribe it to an animal. Is that always a thing? And it's like, that's a badger. Yeah, not a badger. Like seven five. I just I don't know. I want I just want to know. Like, you know that somebody said that, like, oh, it was probably blank kind of animal. I just want to know what kind of animal. Oh, absolutely.

Greg

There's you know, there's a lot like the like what animal's landing in the back of your truck.

Bobby

You know, people use the bar barn owls for like little green men sightings, and it's like, yeah. So I know that there's somebody that's like, oh yeah, it was a it was a this.

Michelle

Yeah, it's the it's the Johnson's albino badger down the road, totally, you know.

Bobby

Yeah, probably old Freddie Johnson's albino badger got out.

Michelle

Absolutely again, yeah, you know, a bad terrorist.

Greg

Yeah, you know, think about the speed again. Like it's one thing if you're stopped looking at something and you get hit with something, or like something jumps out in front of you. The fact that like it landed in the back of a truck, like means intention. Like it was it had to have jumped from somewhere. But this thing that he didn't see.

Michelle

Right. If we're saying that the man in the ditch is the skinwalker, because like who knows, maybe that was like some sort of a projection that the skinwalker did to fuck with a human mind.

Bobby

It seemed pretty clear. I mean, it was a civil war ghost. You know, like I felt maybe trying to warn whoever was passing by that nothing was happening. But yeah, yeah, the General Lee's arming is for army is forming. You better look out. Yeah, yeah.

Michelle

I felt really like even in the 911 call, I felt like everybody was on the same page. There was a civil war ghost in the bush, you know, and that was totally fine.

Greg

Is it a turkey? Also, I I want to like also play devil's advocate here, too. But like, yeah, it could have been an animal that jumped in his truck. He's also saying he doesn't know what time at night it was, he was tired. He could have just thought he saw something and then maybe hit something. And all of this is just taking place, and his mind is filling in the gaps of like what it is. It's not wrong.

Michelle

You know what, Greg? You and everybody else, who's like, that's a goddamn fever dream bullshit, blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah. It this man is on the phone with 911 while this is happening. Right. Sutton jumped in this man's truck that was not human.

Bobby

It sounds like meth psychosis.

Michelle

That's true. It's obviously. But not at 60 miles an hour.

Bobby

It seems like I mean, it tracks with meth psychosis. Yeah. But the cops, I feel like, would have noticed.

Michelle

If he was acting actively on the method.

Bobby

When they came to the gas station.

Greg

Oh. Oh, I thought you, I thought you were talking about like the person that jumped into the truck was on meth. No, no.

Michelle

Actually, I'm saying I know what a skinwalker is now.

Bobby

That's pretty plausible, a tweaker on both sides of the equation. I'm just saying like this is a story that could be accounted for by methamphetamine-induced psychosis. But that said, the involvement of law enforcement, I feel like they would have picked up on that, the fact that this guy pretty easily. As as you know, we live in the city, we've seen a little meth psychosis here and there. Uh it's pretty noticeable.

Michelle

Yeah, every day on the six room.

Bobby

Pretty uh pretty blaring.

Greg

Yeah, and that's the thing. Like, like even in his story, he the phone call itself was uh 11 minutes in total. So he floored it to the gas station and stayed on the call with them until essentially they were showing up. Right.

Bobby

Yeah, hold on, I gotta buy some cigs real quick.

Michelle

Yeah, I gotta throw up. Sorry, I pooped my pants. I need a minute.

Greg

And like people don't wouldn't usually do that.

Michelle

No, yeah. You're not gonna be able to do it.

Greg

They're not waiting around, but like like he's in his head, like I'm like and from the story, he's still like assuming that like there's someone out there that needs help.

Michelle

Right, right.

Greg

I want to take them back there because someone's bleeding profusely on the side of the road.

Michelle

He is a better man than I, dude. I would be gone. Like, I don't mind staying on the phone and being like, yes, uh, police officers and everyone, I am calling you. I'm not trying to hide, but I'm also not trying to be that close. I gotta go.

Bobby

Where are you going?

Michelle

Home.

Bobby

Yeah. Home. That I don't know where I live.

Michelle

That skinwalker does not know where I live, but you know what he does now? The gas station ain't that far. Yeah, you know, and there's not enough cigs in the world to get me to stay at that gas station. I gotta go home.

Bobby

What you gonna do and get home? Get the crow?

Michelle

Side under the bed with the cat. With the cat. I'm gonna cry. I'm gonna probably get in the bathtub with no water in it.

Bobby

Yeah.

Michelle

Absolutely.

Bobby

Yeah.

Michelle

And I'm gonna get the cat and we're gonna hide in the tub till morning at least. Probably days. It'll probably be days before you see me. Okay. Yeah, and I'm never gonna be the same.

Bobby

Fair enough.

Greg

There are a lot of stories like this too, um, where people just see like weird things, and there's a lot of cool folklore like based around all this stuff. Obviously, we talked about Skinwalker Ranch, but you have things like other cryptids around the country too. Like, I don't know what this one, if this one has a particular name that people have ascribed to it, or it resembles something else.

Bobby

Like in like Corporal Skinwalker.

Greg

Corporal Skinwalker. Like like uh say like the Jersey Devil or something like that. Or the chupacabra. Like those things have like a a specific lore that's that precedes them and like they follow.

Bobby

Yeah, yeah. Even like uh localized Bigfoot in Florida, it's like the skunk ape and like Arkansas the folk monster. Right. Yeah.

Michelle

You made that up. The folk monster.

Bobby

It's uh F-O-U-K-E, Folk Arkansas.

Michelle

Oh, okay. Yeah, that makes sense.

Bobby

There's also they made a cool like uh kind of like bee horror movie called The Beast of Boggy Creek about that. Okay. In in a long time. But yeah, I love a regional cryptid. Yeah. Love, love regional cryptid for sure.

Greg

And it's the only again, I um like I tried to find there are other things that look like it or like have that same type of thing, but they're like from all over the place. There's nothing kind of from that area or ever since or before this happened.

Michelle

Um oh, in that area of North Carolina Carolina.

Greg

Yeah, where it's just like you have the pine barrens with the Jersey Devil here. Right, but that's pretty far. Right.

Michelle

Yeah.

Bobby

Um, but I do wonder like, do they ever go on trips though? You know what I mean?

Michelle

Oh, sure.

Bobby

They want to go down south for a little fun. This was the Jersey Devil on vacation. Yeah, Jersey. Like I took a little trip. I've been here for a minute now. I was just working, just grinding out Jersey Deviling. Yeah. And I need just a minute for me. Gonna hit on Disney. And I'm gonna go down.

Michelle

I'm on my way to Jersey.

Bobby

I'm also a history buff. I'm gonna go check out some Civil War batteries from Battlefields. And then this this happens.

Michelle

Hell yeah. All right, that's what I choose to believe. I feel like the Jersey Devil and and all cryptids are not bound by everyone cryptid. You know, are not bound by man's fucking laws and our maps and our invisible lines. He doesn't know he's in North Carolina. Yeah, he's just going. Yeah, he's just going.

Bobby

Yeah.

Michelle

Yeah. Could be the Jersey Devil.

Bobby

On his way to the outer banks for the city.

Greg

Imagine it was like Hilton head. It was some time traveler that just like zapped into like existence just at that point. And it's like, fuck. Like that's how he like gets welcomed into like whatever time he's coming from.

Michelle

Yeah.

Greg

Just on a truck getting thrown over.

Michelle

Yeah.

Greg

This fucking asshole screaming you're not a human. You're just trying to like look in. Like, what's happening? Where am I? What what time is this?

Michelle

Yeah, that would suck. That would suck. But it would be it's so coincidental. All right, okay. You guys just tell me what you think. Are the Civil War ghosts in the banks and the skinwalker that jumped onto the bed of the truck, are they the same?

Bobby

Civil War Ghost and the Banks? What? Oh, in the in the ditch from the story.

Michelle

Is it the same thing? Two things happen to the two paranormal things happen to this man at the same, you know, moments apart from each other. Or is it two things but of one?

Greg

Yeah.

Michelle

So this would or two totally separate things.

Greg

This would like take I think this is why it's called skinwalker. Um and like there are different definitions of skinwalker, but the one that we kind of laid out for this is like it takes the shape of one thing, can take the shape of another thing. Like and can shape shift essentially.

Michelle

Gotcha, gotcha.

Greg

So it could be the same thing.

Michelle

Okay. That's your take.

Greg

Um, not necessarily. I I think it could have been two separate things. That's uh uh that's double high strangeness. Um I'm also I also think I'm I'm gonna go back to my original idea of like him being tired thinking he he saw this guy.

Michelle

Math is the answer. No, no, no.

Greg

Like who knows what it could have been, but like this guy on the side of the road, he's thinking he saw that, and he's like, again, he's concerned enough to make a 911 call about it. Right. Um, but it could just be tired, eyes playing tricks, anything like that. Just but then immediately something else strange happens. But the fact that he saw both of them like within uh 30 seconds of each other is kind of crazy.

Michelle

All right, I see, I see, I'm getting to know you, Greg, and I feel like you've got this theory. You're okay. I believe everything. I'm like, that's fucking strange as fuck. It probably happened. I'm in. But you are like the brain, man. It changed it makes you think stuff.

Greg

You're braining real hard right now. The brain makes you think stuff. Yeah.

Michelle

Stick with me, guys.

Greg

I'm with you. I'm with you.

Michelle

So I think I I see what you're saying. I understand it. And I and I I'm with you. So the first thing he sees is jarring enough for him to call 911, right? So I feel like the guy, the Civil War ghost, is more legitimate. But yeah, I mean, maybe you're right. Okay, never mind.

Bobby

Michelle is over here trying to genuinely make sense of what happened. She's like, I almost got it. I almost got it like figured out. I got it sorted.

Michelle

Yeah. Um, yeah, you know what, guys, though, I don't. Um, because every time I think I get there, I'm like, oh no, no, no, no, no. Because he could just be tired or he could just be on meth. Um, but uh Bobby, what do you think?

Bobby

I think if the listener has any idea, I think they should give us a call on the strange exchange.

Greg

Yeah, that's uh 929-445-3705. Yeah. And also if you've ever seen a skinwalker or a cryptid of your own.

Bobby

Or a Civil War ghost.

Greg

Kind of anything we touched on in here.

Michelle

Yeah. Yeah. What's the number again?

Greg

Oh, it is uh 929-445-3705.

Michelle

All right. Let us know what you think. And uh I'm I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything I said.

Bobby

Or if you've seen an albino possum do some crazy shit.

Michelle

Yeah.

Bobby

Tell us. Yeah, or albino badger. Yeah. There's that one specific one. Oh, yeah. Are all possums albido?

Michelle

I have no fucking idea. I don't think I have to be. I couldn't possibly know that.

Bobby

Thank you.
