Brewers win 4-3 in St. Louis to open a 5-game series.  4-runs in the 7th with a 2rbi double by David Hamilton and a 2rbi single by Brice Turang.  Shane Drohan got the win and Trevor Megill his 14th save.  A Double Header on Tuesday with The Miz going in G1 at 1:15

Alright, so we go to Brood Daily on a Monday night, and it didn't look very good for quite a while in this one in St. Louis. This is uh this is the part of the road trip that was going to be really interesting for Milwaukee. Keep in mind, big picture. 11 games in 10 days all on the road. In Arizona, you won two of those three. In St. Louis, that's game one and five. A doubleheader on Tuesday, 115 and 645. Single games on Wednesday and Thursday night. Then a night game getaway day, Thursday night to go to Pittsburgh for a three-game weekend set into the All-Star break. So imperative, yeah, a little strong. Important to get off to a good start in this one. And by the way, while this game is going on, the U.S. men's national team bows out of the World Cup. And all three host countries are now out: Canada, Mexico, and the United States, all out before the quarterfinals in this one. Disappointing on that front. 4-1 was that final. Suppose we'll talk a little bit about it on Tuesday on I Love Mondays. All right, so the Brewers began the night at 55-33, 22 games over 500. The box score in a Brewers win tonight. Four runs, eight hits, one error, two of eight with runners in scoring position, seven runners left on base. Arizona, or Arizona, St. Louis, three, seven, and two. They were two of eight with runners in scoring position and left six men on base in the game. Cubs are off. They'll be at the Orioles. Pittsburgh was off home against the Braves. The Reds off home against the Phillies. So I'll get to the standings when we're all said and done, but let's get you started. Shane Drowen, in his last three games out, last three games, started 15 innings, just three runs allowed. He took on Dustin May. His last two starts, just two and two thirds innings total, with 11 hits and 11 runs allowed. But against the Brewers, he's a different dude. In St. Louis, he's a different dude. He had a pretty good night tonight. Brewers, 45-7 coming into this game when scoring four runs or more. That is second best in all of baseball. Only the Dodgers at 51 and 5 were better coming in to tonight. All right. Top of the second inning, Bowers, 115 mile an hour single. He continues to just barrel baseballs. Mitchell followed with a 103 mile per hour single. They went to second and third on an error or misplay in center field. Freelix up, second and third, one out. Freelix struck out. Pratt lined out to second to end the inning. St. Louis started to get their runs in the third inning, assisted by an error from Bryce Tarang in what could have been, should have been a 4-6-3 double play. It's an error they don't get any outs. That's followed by a pop-up, a walk, a uh base is loaded then with one out. David Hamilton, mental error on a ground ball to third. Should have come home on the play to get the force out. Tried to go five, four, three double play. They didn't get it. That allowed a run to score. And uh that was not a good inning for the Brewers defensively, as he already had the error from Tarang. And then Hamilton on not a physical error, but a mental error. A single by Velasquez scored the second run of the inning. 57 pitches through three innings for Drowan. That was a story in a 30-plus pitch inning on two defensive miscues in the field. Uh, top of the fourth, couple of two-out singles by Pratt. And Hamilton chased Dustin May. That was important. He was on a pitch count in this game. Yelich against Brewell, hard hit, 4-3, 104 mile an hour ground ball to end the inning. But they chased Dustin May. Sometimes the story is not what you get off the guy, but can you get the guy out of the game? And that's what they did. Bottom of the sixth, Velazquez with a leadoff double, a sackbunt, and then he scored on a single by win. It's 3-0 going to the seventh. But the Brewers are into the Cardinals' bullpen, headband for a couple innings. Leadoff, Garrett Mitchell, infield single, about 38 feet just to the third base side of the pitching mound. And his speed beat it out. Pitcher couldn't make play. Also hurt himself a little bit on it. Freelick then hit a double into the corner. Ground rule double kept Mitchell from scoring on the play. Second and third, nobody out. Pratt hit an infield, what they call an error on the pitcher. Again, it was about a 17-foot, 25-foot hit. And the pitcher misplayed it because of Pratt's speed. And now you got bases loaded and nobody out in the inning. You follow that up by a double. So here's the story a little again. Sometimes I get in the weeds. It's a double by David Hamilton, who was seeing his 21st pitch in three at bats, all of them full counts. He went in the first two at bats, he went from 3-0 to 3-2, struck out on one, singled on the other. This one, he went from 0-2 to 3-2, fouled off a couple of pitches, then doubled into the gap. But what I'm talking about on the inside baseball is Pratt should have scored. It should have been a triple, but Pratt got fooled by Walker's play in right field. He's never going to catch it. But Walker put his glove up. Pratt slowed. They held him at third. Hamilton tweaked his hammy on the play. And listening to Murphy post-game, Pat Murphy, sounds like Hamilton might get protected on this one. It might be an IL. We'll see. He said, you know, hammies are different. They take a little time. So keep an eye on that on the news that comes out on Tuesday. Hamilton leaves the game, and then three and two, nobody out, a walk to Yelich. The play of the game followed, and that is Bryce Tarang with a first pitch, line drive, single to left field, scored two, extends his hitting streak to nine games, and it was a four-run seventh for the Brewers in the game, followed by a double play ball. But then Chad Patrick goes one, two, three in the bottom of the seventh, and one, two, three in the bottom of the eighth. McGill came on in the ninth, win with a leadoff single, but a pop-up and two strikeouts. 14th save for Trevor McGill on the year, unscored upon in his last 13 outings. Player of the game, I'm going to go Shane Drowan. He gets the win. Four and two now on the year. Six innings pitched. Brewers needed that in a series that they're going to play five games in four days, and they're going to play 11 games in the final 10 games of the 10 days of the first half to get Drowan through six was really good. This rookie has turned into something really special. Really good outing. Shane Drowen gets my player of the game, six innings pitched, six hits, three runs. Only one of them earned, worked through a 30-plus pitch third inning, finished the night with 85 pitches, 60 of them for strikes. Lowered his ERA to under three, now 2.97 for Shane Drowan as a starting pitcher this year. And I would give uh a nod, an honorable mention for player of the game to Chad Patrick, who was a perfect six up, six down in the seventh and eighth inning on a night that your rebay was down and you didn't have to use Ashby for the 43rd time. The Brewers get the win and look ahead to a doubleheader. Mizarowski game one. I think Josh Gasser in game two. And uh Josh, I think Gasser, Robert Gasser will go in game two. I don't know if Josh can pitch. He's a good guard, defensive guard, but and a good passer, very heady player, but I don't think he can throw. Brewers improved to 56 and 33, a season high, 23 games over 500. They lead the Idol Cubs by 6.5. The Cardinals now by 8.5, and the rest of the division, the Pirates 11.5, and the Reds 15.5 games back. Brewers will go for game two and game three in the series on Tuesday. 115 Meserowski, Robert Gasser in the nightcap, we think 645.
