Hey, that's a pretty good Brewers win as they uh win at 2-1 in walk-off fashion in the tenth inning at American Family Field. Couple of uh significant moments tonight in this game as we bring it back into Brew Daily first game after the All-Star Break in the Brewers for a franchise first and quickest of 60 wins in franchise history. I think a lot of us wanted them to get there on Sunday or Saturday of last week. They didn't, but out of the break, this game had a similar MO to so many games that the Brewers have played so far this year. We'll get to it. Uh it is Miami that came in at 52 and 45. Sandy Alcantra is an outstanding pitcher. Uh, and he showed all of that tonight. By the way, so is Logan Henderson, apparently. And we've kind of seen that from him just uh with health and injuries, maybe not enough. Brewers entered tonight with uh 59 wins against 34 losses, and tonight they get to their 60th win. The Brewers win it 2-1, two runs, six hits, no errors, one of 10 with runners in scoring position, 12 left on base. Miami, one hit, seven or one run, seven hits, no errors. They were 0 for 6 and uh left runners, uh five of them on base in the game, 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position. You know, kind of uh a little sarcastically, as we expected, a pitcher's duel, Santi Sandy Alcantra, yes, you expect him to pitch at that level. But Logan Henderson was really good as he opposed. Both eight gave up a solo home run in the fifth. So Logan Henderson, Pat Murphy said just a few moments ago in the postgame that Henderson came out. He tried to throw, I'm not sure of the pitch he was trying to throw there, but he cramped in his forearm. They just weren't gonna mess with it, so he didn't go back out. He went five innings in the game, three hits, a solo home run, four strikeouts, no walks. And the uh the injury was not really an injury, just a special precaution on a cramp. All right, so he was out. By the way, also another note earlier in the game, Sal Freelick left. He threw a ball from the outfield, had some discomfort. Murphy says post-game that I don't think we're gonna have him for a while. So they'll get more imaging and a test there, but that did not sound encouraging. So we'll see how that plays itself going forward. Brewers did get a solo home run from Joey Ortiz in the fifth that matched the Marlins solo home run. And Joey Ortiz, it was a great at bat. He had a couple of great at bats in the game. That's uh you know, a pitch that he sort of gets fooled on, but stayed back and hit a home run over the wall and left. Uh really good by Joey. Uh I think we're fine with Joey Ortiz uh rolling forward. So we're 1-1. Then Chad Patrick comes on and he's really good for an inning. And then you've seen this story before, right? The script has been written. Aaron Asby's on, really good for an inning. Uh Abner Yuribe comes on really good for an inning. Trevor McGill comes on really good for an inning. But oh, by the way, the defense behind was outstanding all night long. So I think that the play of the game is in the top of the ninth runner at second and two outs. Hernandez hits a ball over the head of Mitchell in center. Toughest play for a center fielder is a ball that he's got to go straight back on. So he angles to his left, towards right center, and then has to reach back over his shoulder to catch the ball behind his head. I would add this it's it's an out. It's not the out that ends the inning. He makes a great play. Miami's gonna score. And I think if Mitchell doesn't make the play, it's gonna be a triple. Incredible play. He did the same thing uh an inning later. So Mitchell delivered two fantastic plays in the game defensively, and then you you get that the the win when you when you have to have it in the bottom of the tenth inning. And even there, it's not ideal, right? You have the the ghost runner who's real, Tim Dillard line. The the ghost runner who's real at second in a they didn't score in the top of the tenth. Bryce Tarang strikes out. Then you get um you you get a situation that Contreras walks, but Bauer strikes out. So now it's first and second and two outs, and Garrett Mitchell delivers. Uh what a play. He's my player of the game. He made my play of the game. He's my player of the game. He had two hits and an RBI, two incredible defensive plays. Garrett Mitchell uh with a walk-off hit for the Brewers. What needs to be better? Well, I think it's a familiar tune, right? Runners in scoring position, the Brewers tonight, not good enough, which has been the story of late. They finished the night uh with runners in scoring position, uh, one for, what did I say earlier? One for ten with runners in scoring position and leave 12 runners on base. That just has to be better. On a night that they get incredible pitching and play great defense, you're just gonna have to find a little bit more offense, and I get it. It's Santee Alcantra for Miami. He is their best, and uh the Brewers still got over the top and win two to one. Other games that are going on, uh, let me see if I can give you a last check on what was going on with St. Louis. That game was not final yet at last. Check, they're playing out in Arizona. As we stack in what really matters in the division, the Brewers lead the Cubs by six. Okay? Let's leave it at that. Game two of the series is tomorrow, 3-10 in the afternoon. It is Shane Drowen on the mound against Max Meyer in game two on game three, Sunday at 1-10, Yuri Perez against Robert Gasser. Big opening win in the second half after the all-star break for the Brewers. Fantastic work done by them, especially on pitching and defense, and the Brewers win it two to one. We uh let's see, I got a couple of comments uh that at least that have come in working on a remote studio. So nice to see Jay says, nice to see Mitchell making uh some defensive plays uh with the glove tonight. Yeah, it was that was significant. Um also this comes in from Darren uh Mitchell tied for the most hits in July in baseball, but Joey also challenging as a very hot hitter. And Jerry Two words, Garrett Mitchell. Uh, I love Garrett Mitchell, and if you've listened to me on the radio over the years, you know how much I love Garrett. Uh, I think he is uh, if he's healthy, he is fantastic. I did mention him as a trade chip, but that is if you're gonna go get a guy like Tarek Scuble, maybe that would be one of the trade chips that you would have to use. South Freelick being hurt, though, is a significant storyline tonight. If there is some significance to that injury, then you have your outfield of Churio, Lara, and Mitchell. Churio, Mitchell, Lara, left, center, right. And that's your outfield, and then you need to bring up depth uh if Sal Freelick is gonna spend any time uh unavailable. But we'll find out more on that, I would think, over the weekend at some point. Big win, two to one for the Brewers.
