As mothers, this is what we do. We get up, we do it anyways, and we forge on. Welcome to Worth the Walk, where two sisters chat about generations, raising kids, and family life with honesty, heart, and plenty of laughs. No perfection here, people, just real conversation as we walk it all out together. Let's get started. Good morning, and happy Mother's Day, Claudette. Thank you so much, and happy Mother's Day to you too. Thank you. And for everybody who's listening with us today, it is Sunday, May the 10th, 2026, and it's Mother's Day. And I am so glad that we're together on this beautiful Mother's Day. Me too. Just beautiful. Heard from the kids, got hugs and kisses. John got me a um five pass for yoga classes. One of the gift. But they're not yoga classes. They're any classes of which I'm going to share with you a little bit later. And I'm going to tell you what we're doing. I don't want to not wanted to give too much away on maybe steps and stuff like that. Okay. So how about you? Did you do anything wonderful? Because you are such a beautiful and wonderful mother.
SPEAKER_01Oh. You are as well. I just think we're so we're so lucky. We're so lucky. Lucky. To be as wonderful as we are. Everyone else around us is just equally as lucky. Uh no, I've had a morning. Um, so my girls planned a um breath. I was gonna say brunch, but it was too early to be brunch. It was 8 A.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's 8 A. It's a qualification for brunch. We went to Cafe Lunette in Halifax and had an amazing breakfast. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Just as we drove, we took our time driving in. We had such, I always have such a great time with my girls. I and I got a little emotional when I was out with them the today. And they're like, God, mom, are you crying? And I'm like, I think I might be. I just like I have my best times with you. Okay. I have my best times.
SPEAKER_00Is this okay? Is this why you went with the vibe check? Like so the vibe check. Wait, wait, wait. Wait, wait, wait. Wait. As we are warming up, as Sherry and I like to do before we turn the mic on live, is we like to ensure that everything's good and we know what we might be talking about. Sometimes it's a shock, by the way, everybody. And Sherry's like, let's do a vibe check. I said, Okay. She goes, Are you okay? I say, Yeah. She goes, No, really. Are you okay? And then I'm thinking, God, I wonder if if I look unwell. And she's going, no, honestly, let's do a vibe check. I said, Oh my God, like, do I look sick? Like, what's going on here?
SPEAKER_01So I said, Okay. So let me explain. I will say, I did a road trip, a big road trip with my girls last year. We drove to Boston. And then from Boston, we took a cruise, the just three of us together. And periodically throughout the drive and throughout the trip, the girls would be, let's do a vibe check. Uh, is everyone like, how's everyone feeling? Does anyone need to get anything off their chest? Is everyone's energy equal? Because you can't have someone who's like way up and someone who's way down. And and to be all honest, I feel like my energy's been way, way down because I've been sick of it.
SPEAKER_00As a dog. And this is why I was asking, because you don't get all weepy weepy. Like now me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was crying. Good lord.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it takes so little nowadays for me to go to cry. And you're like, okay, can we pull it together, Cludet? Like, are you okay? So for you to say, my girl said, Are you crying? Like, okay, that's where the vibe check came from. That's where it came from.
SPEAKER_01Not me. It's you. Yeah, it's me. It's I'm projecting onto you, I guess. But no, I also just want to make sure, too, like me not being uh, I'm not operating on uh all my all my wheels aren't turning together today, perhaps. Well, tell me, sick, like I mean so terribly, terribly sick for days and days. Yes. Today I did, I must say, getting up this morning with the girls, and I'm telling you, Tylenol day, Tylenol night to preach to that product. That's great, keeping me running right now. But um, yeah, I've been down, I've been out. Yeah, I've been out, and as I understand it, little self's not been well either, right? I'm pretty sure she was the carrier. I think she's if we have to blame some, maybe let's be pretty confident she's the distributor of the virus. And now Oliver got up this morning and I'm pretty confident he's next.
SPEAKER_00Oh no.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, honey.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So technically, you should get your ass maybe out of my good worn, and I did kind of want to check in with you first. But in the spirit of Mother's Day, yes, the show must go on.
SPEAKER_00That's right, honey. And we as mothers Well, there, look, walk, say that. As a mother, uh, I can vividly remember days where I am unwell. The we have the headache, we have the flu, we've got a bit of a fever, but the kids still need to get up, they still need to be fed, cooking had to be done. There was laundry, there was stuff that literally had to be done. Life goes on. But you are sick. You can't move. I'm a little unwell, and there's been days when I've been very, very unwell. And in my life, when John did afternoons and I did days, right? If I was sick during the day and John would step in and help, but he had to get to work, right? He was leaving at three. The kids are still there, they still need to eat, they still need to play, they still need to get changed, all of it still needs to happen. You just got up and you got it all done, and then you put them to bed early, saying, Please, for the love of God, please fall asleep. And for whatever reason they did, and you just passed out cold, right? I mean, as mothers, this is what we do. We get up, we do it anyways, and we forge on.
SPEAKER_01That's right. So, in the spirit of all of that, here I am today with my my ray of sunshine spring skirt and my cup of peppermint tea.
SPEAKER_00I'm telling you right now, when you walk in, I thought, well, doesn't you look like somebody who dressed up for Mother's Day? Did my girl said we had to all wear florals to go to breakfast this morning. So gorgeous. And we should tell the audience today, too. We're we're recording ourselves. We are gonna take little snippets out, we're gonna put them up as, you know, little thingma bobs. I don't know what we're gonna call those thing ma bobs, but they're gonna be called something, the thingma bobs, all right?
SPEAKER_01Clips, yes, video clips.
SPEAKER_00And I'm teaching myself TikTok. I took a little class last night. Uh well, I shouldn't say last night, a couple of days ago. And if if you look, I sent a TikTok to somebody.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, this is comedy gold folks right here. You cannot make any of this up. This is good. Continue. I'm so invested right now. Okay, but I did a TikTok.
SPEAKER_00Um, and that it was actually pretty good. I don't doubt. No, it was. It looks like I'm lip singing something. I'm I'm I'm I'm I don't think I can share that, though. I don't know. Can you share that on our podcast? I don't mean I think it's should you. Oh yes, well, that's yeah, okay. I'm gonna agree with we'll be gonna do it. I'm just kidding. Of course. We're gonna get there. So anybody, listen, we're we're we're gonna do it. We're getting the TikTok going. I have no idea what it's gonna look like. First of all, I don't know how to even create an account. I have an account under my name, yeah, but then I I thought to myself, like, how did I create this thing, right? Because I went to create one under Worth the Wonk. And and I can't. Keeps telling me I've tried too many times. You're gonna have to come back and tell me five more minutes or something.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say, I bet you created it in 2020 during the pandemic.
SPEAKER_002020. And all the videos are not me the Josh. Exactly. It's not even like stuff that's right, but whatever. That's what it's me playing with Spider-Man and Spider Girl with Joshua. So, but either way, I'm gonna figure this out. All right, and and it'll be there. And is TikTok still a popular thing? I think it well, I think it really is. I really think it's a thing. Okay. We really sound very old. You probably shouldn't have said that. No, producer Dan.
SPEAKER_01We might need to cut that in. If it hasn't been obvious yet. If it hasn't been obvious yet.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01All right. Of what generation?
SPEAKER_00What's sitting before you people? It's right here.
SPEAKER_01Now we're now we know.
SPEAKER_00So uh we're gonna jump into a few topics here today. Uh, pretty certain we're not gonna do as long as we did last week, so that we can get uh Miss Beautiful Sherry home to rest and relax and put her feet up and all of that. But we do have a few things. Number one, we want to do a summary of our worth the uh uh of our one step better. We want to do a summary of that, of what we did and what you know, what we accomplished. I did not accomplish one of the things, all right. Um, um, but we'll talk about that. And we're gonna talk a little bit about Mother's Day and all the stuff that mothers do and um, you know, the the little bit we just segue into there. And then we're gonna close it off with our plans for the future of pulling you guys in a little bit more on our one step better. So let's start off with the uh this week. Uh you did not do very much this week, right?
SPEAKER_01I really didn't. I didn't. And you know, in all fairness, my one step better was just really lame.
unknownThat's lame.
SPEAKER_01I didn't I didn't even do it. I couldn't even log on to upload photos this week. That's how that's how unwell I unwell I was.
SPEAKER_00But that's not fair. You were very sick. I mean, it wasn't like a little runny nose, and I'm not feeling very good. I mean, you were very laid up. So I was down. You get the uh here's your pass, here's your pass. Yeah, you're off.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00You're good.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I promise I will be. I I took steps better to get better. And that's what you do. And that's what I did this week.
SPEAKER_00That's right. And I'm proud of you for that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So next week I'll do, I'll pick something to actually so then I'll talk about mine for me.
SPEAKER_00What did I do? I had two things that I was going to try to do. Okay. One was stepping out of my comfort zone to do a reading. Now I did have our cousin reach out, right? Our cousin Kim reached out to said she said she would volunteer. But I was very afraid to do one like like over um, like she lives a long distance away from us too. Oh, yes, yes, another province, all the way away, right? And I was a little nervous to do it like over the phone or over like messenger or something like that. I mean, what if I don't really know what I'm doing and I say it wrong or I don't get the feeling through a phone or I was very nervous to do it. So um I thanked her for it. Um, and I I just I didn't do it. And let's be honest, okay? I didn't try very hard to reach out to a human to do it. I'm very nervous about doing it, all right? So I think my one step better with that one might be just shelve it for a little bit longer till I'm feeling more in tune with actually stepping outside of that box. So that one's gonna get shelved. I have not given up on it. I love it for me, and maybe that's what it's supposed to be for, it's just for me. I don't know. Here's the thing. I think you'll know when the time is right. I think I will too, right? I felt like I might have been brave at that moment, but I'm not brave anymore. So we're gonna hold on to it until that. So then my second thing was remember, I was going to present my story I wrote. All right. Yes now, here we go. So people can hear my paper rattling in the background. And I should have taken a drink of water before I even began this. But this is 1,011 words.
SPEAKER_01And I have not heard this, I don't know anything about this. No, you don't. So I'm hearing this for the first time too, and I'm I'm ecstatic. I can't wait.
SPEAKER_00Well, silly me. Give me your glasses, we've been down this. I know how many times have we been down this time? Absolutely filthy. But I don't expect to read anything. And I could probably do it, but I hiccup over the words. There, try those. Let me see. Let me see. Oh, look at that. I really need to invest in some here, there, and everywhere. Okay, here we go. This is my story, and I was told it was good. Write a story, 1,000 words, and instantly I can feel my heart begin to race. My palms get wet, my breath gets shallow, and the familiar whisper starts in the back of my mind. I can't compare to a real writer. I panic. Do I even know 1,000 words? How long has it been since I had to write a specific word? Or write about myself, or write about something that matters to me personally. How many words does it take to put that thought on paper? I'm certain I've misplaced at least a thousand words, obviously not all at once. No, they've slipped away like those socks that vanish in a dryer, or the thoughts that evaporate during those extremely long, extremely unnecessary meetings where someone says, Let's circle back. And then my mind circles right out the front door. I'm sitting here trying to gather the words I still have left. I try to remember how I ever learned so many words in the first place. School, jobs, conversation, the countries I visited, the people I've met, each one added a handful of words to my pocket. But how many have I forgotten? How many have leaked out through the holes in those same pockets? Did someone else find those words and put them in a safe place for safe keeping? As babies, we teach our children every word we can think. And when we can't think enough, we read them the books filled with pictures, hoping the pictures will stick with the words. When they become young boys and girls, we tell them the words they are not allowed to say. Those they never forget. They tuck them away like treasures, using them in secret to test the edges of their freedom of speech without risking punishment. Then we get to my age, the age where words start to run away from the front of my mind faster than a puppy with a forbidden treat. I'll be mid-sentence reaching for a descriptor I know exists, one I've used a thousand times, and suddenly it's gone, vanished, like a packed suitcase and left without leaving a note. Or I'll try to describe a movie I just watched, and the words feel a million miles away, floating somewhere between my memory and my tongue, refusing to land. Now we go a little bit further in years, and I watch my father as he struggles to form the words. He needs to tell a story he desperately wants to share. I can see the memory in his eyes, the sparkle, the emotion, the urgency of the words, but they don't line up. They must be floating around his head, bumping into each other, refusing to cooperate. I want to help him the way I help my grandchildren when they're searching for words, but I too struggle to find the one he's reaching for. Where do these words go? Are they lost? Are they hiding? Are they waiting for us to slow down long enough to catch them? Well, sometimes I imagine a great library in the sky, just a whimsical one, where all the forgotten words float around, teasing and chasing and hiding in corners. Words we loved, words we used daily, words we only ever used once but felt very proud of, words we mispronounced, words we meant to look up, words we swore we would always remember. There they all are, floating around, playing hide and seek. Maybe that's what this story should be about. It's not a formal thousand words I'm supposed to write, the ones that sit up straight and mind their P's and Q's, but the thousands of words I misplaced, like my keys and my glasses that I swear I put on a table. These are the thousands I've loved, the thousands I've whispered, shouted, swallowed, shared, and the thousand that shaped me into a semi-coherent shape, and the thousands that slipped away because they found a better place to party down the street. I've discovered I quite like visiting the library of lost words in the clouds. It's fun and it's magical. And the best part is nobody shushes you. I go there to browse the forgotten section. Just yesterday, I found a perfectly good skitamodaddle hiding under a kerfuffle, and I'm pretty sure my favorite thangamajig is being used as a doorstrop by a bunch of adjectives. I went to the back where I found a crate of lost thoughts, which were glad to be found. Unfortunately, most of them were past their expiration date. I grabbed a light bulb moment, but it flickered twice, told me it wasn't ready to come back until I fed at least one more cup of coffee. I even found a train of thoughts that I lost just last week, hanging on to the movie title I was trying to remember. Oh well, that'll have to stay there too until I visit again another day. So here we are. Are my words lost? Maybe? Are they gone forever? I don't think so. Words have a way of peeking out from behind the dusty shadows. They can spring into thoughts like fast-running springs or arrive slow and yellow like the daffodils blooming in spring. Honestly, with all these springs brouncing around, it's a miracle I have not developed a literal whiplash. So now I think I'm ready to begin my thousand words story. I visited the Library of Lost Words, I've checked out at least a few hundred, and I've now had that second cup of coffee. Oh, wait. Oh no. I've just looked at my word count. I've spent my entire budget on an introduction. I have no words left. I've lost all my words. I'm bankrupt. Do you think I can go over? Would that be allowed? Or maybe now I just have to tell my story. Allowed. Well, what do you think? What's with this now? Artists now. Artists? Claudia! Do you like it?
SPEAKER_01Um I am I have no words because that they're lost in the magical is amazing.
SPEAKER_00That's really isn't that good? Well done. Well, I mean, I had I played a lot with homophones, which are words that sound alike. Windy and windy. Remember that time I sent you that thing and I said that's windy and windy, whatever. So, anyways, and then I thought was silly. So that's why I deleted all these things. I had a whole bunch of those going in there, and I thought, oh my gosh, if I try to read that, I'm gonna sound like a fool. I have no idea what I'm talking about. So I took most of that out and then I went back to this magical cloud thing and did that.
SPEAKER_01So there you go. Very, very good. That's it's I'm very not like I'm not impressed because I know how talented you are, and I know you have tons of skills. So I'm not, it's not like I'm super impressed by this, but I'm just I'm super impressed. Well, I'm glad you like it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So that was my one step better, everybody. And I'm probably not gonna write another thousand words, but there you go. I I was asked to, I challenged myself, I did it, and check mark. Yeah, that's fantastic, fantastic. So there's our thousand boner there's there's our moments so far. Yeah, one step better. There you go. Yeah. So next week, uh, we'll go into that right at the very end. We'll so sorry everybody, I had a hiccup, mid-sentence, mid-sentence hiccup. Um, so what we'll do now is we're gonna jump into like our segment about Mother's Day and how mothers push themselves or how we do these journeys with mothers, how we have to be uh either greater than we think we are, question our talents. Um, but Mother's Day to me should be every day of the year, even though I'm very happy that somebody put on a calendar and said, you know, give mom some flowers this day. I I mean I think that we should be celebrating women, not just mothers, but women in general, every day of the year. I mean, it's quite miraculous the stuff that we do.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And I mean, there like I don't want this to sound like I'm bashing a man or males in any way because that's not how I find, but I do believe there are two categories, right? There's a male category and there's a female category. That's where I stand in life. And and our our our masculine male are are doing a ton of stuff too, but only a woman can give birth. And only a woman knows what it's like to keep a child alive with her breast milk. Only a woman knows the struggle of giving birth, trying to feed, then needing to go to work, and then coming back and trying to feed that child all over again and rock and sleep and take care of when you're sick and so on and so forth. So that's my thought. I don't know how that'll get, you know, received by our public, but that's where I sit on all of that. What about you?
SPEAKER_01Uh no, I think everyone has skills, and I think like male, female, whatever that is, whatever you bring, I think we should be celebrating the good aspects of everything that comes into living a a good and healthy life. So yeah. Yeah. And and taking in responsibility for another person is a huge, huge undertaking. So it's massive. Yeah. I mean So those that go into, you know, if you have um whether you're ad adopted a child is a huge, huge, uh huge. Um, blessing. And that in itself is also, you know, it's not and not it's not easy. And I I don't want to, you know, birthing obviously is and looking after a child and adopting. For me, I put that all in the same bucket. I do I do put that in a bucket together.
SPEAKER_00Well, I mean, you you've you've accepted the challenge to guide a life. You've accepted the challenge to uh honor a whole life for the rest of your life.
SPEAKER_01That's right. Looking after another human is for the rest of your life. That's right. Don't take it lightly. Yeah, I know. So they can really they can really kick it to you. So you've got to have a pretty good, you have to have a firm ground. So if you don't have that, look, the kids are just gonna run right over you.
SPEAKER_00They're stepping right over you.
SPEAKER_01They're just gonna, they're gonna rule everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So today's uh conversation really was about uh Mother's Day and how happy we were. And that's about all we had for today, guys, because we wanted to keep it nice and short for say uh for share. I was gonna call you Sam. Did you realize that? Did you hear that? I did. I did. So I mean, um, so we had a plan when we were talking about our one step better, right? We had a plan that it would be for you and me, and each week we would do something, but we got such good feedback on like like our listeners. I mean, I really had a lot of feedback, right? It's just been so good, and I'm so excited by it. Yeah. Um, and we've updated our our Instagram because we got that feedback as well. So for those that are listening to us, we had feedback that people did not like our screen stating that it was too AI. AI, artificial intelligence, I didn't even mean to do that. So we we we put the energy in and we we we Here's the thing AI is easy, folks.
SPEAKER_01That's right. And you're kidding yourself if you haven't used it, and it's like it's an easy thing to do. But also, it also creates visuals that are like, oh my gosh, they're so they're so appealing. I love them. You can see it's like I could never do that in a program or an app that I use. But it's like a great starting point for us. It's just off the ground and we're I got no shame.
SPEAKER_00There's no shame in the AI game, baby. I don't know shame in the AI game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, no shame in the AI game. I'm just gonna throw that out there.
SPEAKER_00I just letting everybody know we've updated our pictures and then going forward, we are absolutely going to try to have far more live moments for us. We're videotaping, our pictures will be like I'm so photogenic these days, anyways.
SPEAKER_01So look at what we're dealing with. Number one, like we're I mean, this is beauty. We got a lot going on. But two, uh look at what we got going on and how we're manipulating and managing the social media thing. It's like, come on, good break.
SPEAKER_00I promoted you, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's a lot of stress, I'm just gonna say. But I but you've got the VP title, Dan. I know. So it comes with that big paint. Well, you know what it'd be better if I had just people I could start delegating stuff to. That's really well. We're working on that. We got Dan.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Dan's good enough to do. He's good enough. Um, so with word um with One Step Better, I I will say I've had feedback of people being like, what a wonderful concept. I I have things in mind, like what a great, almost like a challenge of I'd love to take things on each week that that I can get better at. Or maybe I have ideas for you and Claudette that I think would be fun for you. So I think we should open it up a little bit as well for people to send us what are you working on that you want to be one step better at? Or do you have an idea for Claudette and I to take something on? And in that spirit, we have a note here from Dawn. Oh, I just love Dawn. Okay, so and Dawn knows Claudette and I both. Okay, so when I read this, if if it sounds like this person is sort of, you know, in our circle. In our circle, this is why, because she is. Hello, Claudette and Sherry. I love listening to your podcast every week. Today I was out for a walk and listening to you inspired me to tell a little story about me. I have been wanting to take a course for many years, but have just never done it. However, about a month ago, I told myself, Don, just do it. So I signed up to take my motorcycle course finally in my 60th year. So I guess you could call it my 60th birthday present to myself. Another thing I've always thought of and have wished I could do, but I do not have a green thumb at all. So I have always talked myself out of even trying. It seems that every year when spring arrives, I yearn to try to start a small garden. With listening to you amazing ladies each week, I am starting to think I am going to start reading up on how to start a small garden, where it should be placed in regards to the sun and the soil, etc. Thank you for giving me inspiration to think about really trying things that have always that I've always been putting off. Keep up the great podcast, and I will be listening every week.
SPEAKER_00Love yes from Dawn. I was so thrilled when I read that. I really am. Every time I see an email come through, I get my heart just starts racing. I think, oh my gracious, I'm so so proud of you and me to be able to do it. I'm proud of Dawn. I'm gonna say, listen, I uh there's a lot I'll do. The gardening thing, I'm so proud of her. I really am. Why can't we forgot first ride? Pick me up, Dawn. Where are we going? I will buy my own helmet. Tell me where we're going. So I will take the picture of you and Dawn on the motorcycle. Wouldn't that be a good one? I will videotape you going down the road. But Dawn, I love you to pieces, but I'm not gonna get on the back of the bike. I've got this fear of motorcycles. I just can't do it. Okay, I know. But talk about proud of her. Holy smokes. Way to go, Dawn.
SPEAKER_01Way to go. You know, I had a um, I had a medium tell me, this is years ago, told me I was going to get my motorcycle's license.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Couldn't be more wrong. That is not something that is in my cards. Never gonna happen.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not, I'm not gonna road ride a motorcycle, but let's talk a little bit about gardening if we shall, because we said we've done, and I know we're gonna talk about our one steps and all of that. My garden has made a comeback. Is so all my daffodils are everywhere. I didn't plant those daffodils, right? That they were planted by the owner of this house that I bought. And I mean they are beautiful. You know, I packed I picked some and brought them to dad, and I brought them to the nurses there as well. So because there's so many of these daffodils anyway. Everywhere. So then I went and checked on my lupins that I told you didn't like me and didn't grow. There's four of them that are through the ground that have got stems and they are got leaves. And so now I've I've I've actually made like the space where these four are through the ground and are, I mean outside through the ground. Not in the house, outside. Fantastic, yeah. So I've guarded them now with my life, and nobody's allowed to go down there. That's right. And all of my um other things that I bought, beginning with an A, Arshuras, Asters, Asters, the Asters, yeah. I have 10 of those that are through the ground. Okay. I I mean, I think it's because I scolded them, but then came back and told them that I was extremely sorry for that. I sat with them for a little while, explained that I was frustrated, but it had nothing to do with them and everything to do with me, not understanding the whole growth thing. I come back seven days later and they're through the ground.
SPEAKER_01They're like clawed up in business, folks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Let's rally. Yeah, we're doing this.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Yeah, okay. Start growing. We're still going up to pick loopens, you and I, so that you're not off the hook on that. We're not pick, we're digging. Okay, you're not off the hook. Just so you know. I'm down. We're still doing it. Oh, yeah. But I could not believe it. And now you should see. I'm not, I'm gonna list this for you. Are you ready? Okay. My peppers are beautiful, all right?
SPEAKER_01Amazing.
SPEAKER_00My cauliflower is gorgeous. Okay, my spinach is absolutely ravishing. All right, yes. My green beans are reaching for the sky. I'm actually going to put a ladder on them. I'm going up there because I got a feeling I'm going for gold. All right. What are you gonna do with these until you get them in the grail? I don't know. My snap peas are snapping like nobody's business. Okay. Okay. I am so green, it actually grows. I'm loving all of this. Yes, you guys. I was down a week ago. Yeah, but it just needed me to step away and come back and say I was sorry for for being harsh and having unreasonable expectations. I underestimated you. Yeah. I apologized. I said, you grow when you need to grow. I step back and let you grow. Loving all. All right. Yes. It's like our children. I step back and say to them, you know what, this is your moment. You have to grow. You weren't ready. This is a learning moment for you. So mom's gonna step back. Mom's gonna let you do what you want to do. If you fall, get up, brush your knees off. You're gonna be okay. And I did that with my plants. I said, if you're gonna grow, that's great. And if not, that's all right. We'll try again next year. But um bump, I got greenery. Yes, you do. All right. I'm so proud of you. I'm proud of me. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's fantastic.
SPEAKER_00So that one step better we talked about in gardenings and growing. Full circle moment.
SPEAKER_01We might want to call this a full circle moment.
SPEAKER_00I'm thinking so good about that. Now, I have no idea how long they'll stay green and growing, but at this moment in time, everything looks healthy. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I gotta be honest. Between your thousand words and your gardening, I'm like, gosh, darn it, man. Can I just get my crap together for a week and try?
SPEAKER_00It's not fair at this moment. You have been unwell, okay? And this is we have this is this is not a race, and it is not a competition. Isn't it though, Claude? Is it there? I know. This is two loving sisters look supporting each other. We're looking in the mirror to say, Today I want to do this. Today I want to do that. And that's what you're doing. And you'll do it at your speed when you want to. That's right. All right. This is how this is going down. Loving moments. That's right. All right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01And with all of those loving moments said, I do need to. I'm going to tell a little story because when you were reading your thousand words, I remembered, and this is when all my kids were fairly little. Okay. So we were, and this story probably has nothing to do with our topic this week, but it's in my brain. And the girls actually mentioned this today because we were, they were um doing like false poetry in the car when we were driving, and there's this 21 Jump Street. Do you remember that movie? 21 Jump Street? I I know it. Okay, so when the kids were very little, so it would have been appropriate for the two older ones to watch it. But because I was cooking dinner or something, all four of them are watching it. Okay. So the younger, the younger two would it would have been a little bit over their over their heads, but the older two really wanted to watch it, and the younger two were like, ooh, we're watching something mom doesn't really want us to watch. Okay. And I'm in the kitchen and I'm cooking. And in this movie, I don't know if you know who's in this movie. It's like Tanning Chatham and Jonah Hale are in this movie.
SPEAKER_00And Jonah Actually, you know what? I I do know the movie, and the only reason I know it is because I think John watched that just a few days ago.
SPEAKER_01Are you kidding me? I'm not kidding. So Jonah Hale is on stage and he's doing this poem. It's like Cynthia. Okay, it's really quite funny. Okay. It's hilarious, but it reminded me of the like the snapping, right? And yeah, and it was like it was like he was doing this this performance, okay? So anyway, there I'm in the kitchen and I'm I'm doing my thing, and all of a sudden I hear what I think is go to hell. And I, I mean, and that's bad, okay. In our in our family, we don't say that to each other. We don't say it to anybody, actually, especially not to your siblings. And I come flying out of the kitchen, and I am like, my I got steam coming out of my ears, and I'm just like, which one of you just said go to hell? And I'm pointing at them and I'm furious, and they're almost like scared because I was so, I was so mad. Yes. And the two little ones are kind of looking with their eyes right big and white, and then all of a sudden, Aylan and Avery look at each other and they're like, What, what do you what why is mom so mad? And I said, I'd heard you scream, go to hell. Who who said this? They're like, No, no, mom. We said Jonah Hill. It's Jonah Hill in the movie. We were all trying to think of his name, and they yelled out, Jonah Hill. So now it's like a family joke sometimes if we're in a situation and someone like gets mad at someone else. I'm like, Jonah Hill, Jonah Hill.
SPEAKER_00You know, I'm probably gonna steal that, right? Jonah Hill. That's so okay. You realize that yeah, that's stuck now in my head. Yeah. Yep. I'm gonna say Jonah Hill.
SPEAKER_01Okay, there you go. There's my little tidbit to end a little tidbit for the end of the podcast this week.
SPEAKER_00But we're not that at the end yet because we have to talk about this week's this week's uh One Step Better. Yes. Um, and then how uh we can get our our team to be part of it. So um our our walkers to be part of it. I can't even believe I said that out loud. If you want to know the truth, share. I cannot believe I said that. So I remember I told you that the beginning for Mother's Day. I said, What did what did John get me for Mother's Day? Yes, right? Yes, yes, yes. And I said he got me a five pass of yoga, right? I say a five pass. So it's uh the uh the yoga studio in Shubanakany, the yoga lounge, right? Uh she does like everything that makes my heart just pound with excitement. Okay. Uh one of the ones that we're going to do, you and I, and I'm telling you, we're gonna get it, is dancing to music. So it's all yoga. You move in anything you want. Uh I can't think of the name of it. And then gosh darn, I'm so disappointed with myself. I can't get the name to come to me. It's up in the clouds and the magical clouds bouncing around. Um so they'll put uh different types of music on, like either um easy listening or rock or something like that. And you just move however the music makes you feel like you want to move. Do you want to just move your arms and you just move around in these circles and you just dance like that? And we're so doing it. Okay. Okay. And like I mean, we are like this is we are doing it. All right. But this is me for the next uh few, at least the next two weeks, all right? So tonight I am going to a yoga nindra under the stars. All right. So that's where I'm doing at seven o'clock tonight. And then next Friday night, I am again at another sister circle. I'm too excited about this one. This one is aesthetic dance, all right, for 30 minutes. No, sorry, if it's for one hour, uh. And it's moving however you want to move, it's just different movements for an hour and a half. An hour and a half, okay. And I'm I'm I'm beside myself with excitement. Don't even go there because I'm excited. All right. Take a break. No, I'm not. And then a couple of weeks from now, I'm in the mindful flow of just laying and allowing sounds to flow through you and allowing anything to come up and out as it wants to flow from your body. You are going to be so zen. Listen, I my one step better is to be quite honestly one step better than I currently am. All right. And that's the whole point of our process. I'm so excited about all of this. All right. So this is what I have going on of my One Step Better. I have these three classes. Now we will um probably not put out our podcast next Sunday and maybe put it out on Tuesday. It's the long weekend, right? And I know that there's quite a few people gone away, and I'm positive that Dan will more than likely want to be up at his cottage. I'm sorry, Dan, I did that again. I keep hitting the thing. Um, I know Dan will probably be up at the cottage with his family, and he's not going to want to come back Sunday to do anything for us or anybody else because it's his holiday. Yeah. So we're going to put out again on the 19th. Um, we also have dad's birthday coming up. We want to make sure we talk about that. Yeah. Um, so we will have a little bit of glip in there. But my one step better is when we meet, I will have had two classes under my belt. My under the star yoga zen something or other, because it happens tonight. I know I should be more in tune, but that's what I got for you. And my sister circle aesthetic dancing.
SPEAKER_01I'm so excited for you. I'm hoping that I'm just going to just be better next week. That's right. I just want to be better and not, yeah. I mean, more steps towards feeling better. Yeah. So that's my goal.
SPEAKER_00And and you focus on that. That's what you want, that's what you need. That's like I want that for you more than you could ever imagine. Now, are you going to take any of my little pouches to get feeling better? My ginger pouch. Yeah, I'm going to take it. I'm hoping to take whatever you want to give me. Yes. I love those. You know how I live for those, right? Bring it on. I like my ginger and my turmeric, and I just suck those things. Anybody who walks past me that feels like, oh, I said, oh, that coming down with something. Give me that ginger.
SPEAKER_01Turmeric is supposed to be like a really good, I cannot. Turmeric, it almost tastes like chemical to me. I can't do it. I I suck that back so fast. Yeah, I have to. And I feel like my turmeric.
SPEAKER_00My whole body just feels better. Yeah. Yeah. I'm I'm I'm I'm popping all my natural herbal remedies that I do.
SPEAKER_01And I I'd like to say that I'm doing not a neocitron in a bottle of wine, but no, I'm just joking. I'm just joking. I wouldn't do that. That's a recipe for death. But um, a neocitron will knock me out at night, and Tylenol Day has been working. But if you have natural remedies, bring them to me. I will take them with me.
SPEAKER_00So I have I got lots, but um I'm not certain you're gonna love them because they probably have turmeric per turmeric and ginger, uh eucalyptus. Love ginger, love eucalyptus. Yep. I put it the turmeric is uh I put it in me deep. Yep. I I I put I drink it down a lot. Really?
SPEAKER_01You've got a great immune system, so whatever you're doing, I should probably sign on for whatever you've I'm doing on.
SPEAKER_00So before we do anything, uh I need to talk about a gift that was given to me. Yes. And I honestly I was so floored, like it almost brought some tears to my eyes. So I had lunch with Beth, right, this week. Uh brunch, I should say. And it actually really was a brunch so you it met the full criteria of brunching, you know, at 10:30 in the morning till noon. Gotcha. It met the full brunching criteria. And we went to um Ben and Florentine in Dartmouth. Okay. Oh my god, it was so good. All right. I can't even tell you. I had this uh um uh guacamole uh poached egg spinach um um with this uma matche. And I I probably butchered that, but I want to tell you right now, I have never heard of umma before. Umba. Ubm or whatever? Ube ube. Ube, ube, ube. Yeah, it's like a purple potato. Yes, it is. Yes, yes. I've never heard of that thing before in my whole life. Oh, I can't tell you how delicious that was. It was unbelievable. Uh Beth had a a crepe with uh apples and cinnamon and syrup. Anyways, meal delicious, company over the moon. I mean, it was such a thrill to see her. I was excited to have that time with her. Um, and she brought you and I a gift. I know it's sitting right there. So thoughtful, so thoughtful. We have wine glasses, we do, and it says worth the walk, and Sherry's is Sherry's name. Etched with our names in this.
SPEAKER_01It's like the most beautiful.
SPEAKER_00Beautiful.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_00And I would have gladly put some wine in it, but it is um 12:30 on a Sunday morning of you not being well and me uh if you told me. I'd down it right now. Oh, I would have gladly had a huge glass of red wine in this baby. Wait this second. Uh, unfortunately, with the moment of where we are in time. It's beautiful. Noon on a Sunday. I can't doubt a full glass of red wine. So thoughtful. And Beth, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you so much for this gift. Thank you, Beth. Yes, it's beautiful. Next week, um I have yoga to do. You are going to get healthy. I may force you to take some of my um herbal recipes to make you on the other side of this. And it's Mother's Day. You're gonna go home, and I'm gonna beg of you to get well, get healthy, put your feet up, and have everybody else in the house cook, not you.
SPEAKER_01So, this is the other part of my mother's day is Ailen came back to the house with us. Um, and her and Sophie and Oliver, and Charles is on his way back home from seeing his mom and Kate Breton, and the girls are and Oliver cooking me a beautiful dinner tonight.
SPEAKER_00I'm so happy. I know that. Yeah, good. I know. You're gonna promise me you're not gonna do anything. You're not gonna clean up, you're just gonna rest, and you're not gonna do a thing.
SPEAKER_01Look, there's not a chance of all any of that. There's not a chance of me doing anything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No. Good girl. Yeah. John's got me a beautiful steak, and we're having a lovely salad and a beautiful steak. And you've FaceTimed with your grandbabies and your children. Kisses on. All the way around, honestly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Beautiful day. I know. And I'm missing Dad. I haven't been to see him because I've I've been so sick. So I'm blessed that you don't. And uh I'm hoping to um to see him this week. As soon as I'm as soon as I feel better and I know I I wouldn't have a chance to contaminate. No. And you're gonna sanitize everything here when I'm spraying this room down as soon as we leave.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Well, there we go, Cher. We got another one under the belt. It's such a pleasure, always. I mean, I always have such a wonderful time. Please get better. Anything you want to say to anybody?
SPEAKER_01No, folks, thanks so much for listening week to week. We are so appreciative and grateful. And we're glad you're all with us on this walk.
