SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Worth the Walk, where two sisters chat about generations raising kids and family life with honesty, heart, and plenty of laughs. No perfection here, people. Just real conversation as we walk it all out together. Let's get started.

SPEAKER_01

Good morning, Cher. Good morning, Claudette. And happy Sunday morning. Happy Sunday morning. I know. June 14th. I know, episode 14. I know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I know.

SPEAKER_01

It's a big, it's a big deal.

SPEAKER_00

Great conversations today. All about the things that happen in our world around us, how we interpret it. And you and I are going to talk about the wonderful world of woo-woo. Woo-woo. Woo-woo. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Because we have it. It's actually amazing. You all do too. Everybody has some woo-woo. Even if you don't recognize it, you do. Some people are just more in tune than others. But we're going to talk about that today.

SPEAKER_00

We are. We're actually just going to have a great conversation today. So we're going to talk about first of all the week. It was a very busy week for us in our family, right? I mean, we moved down. We um, you know, had new things happen to our life. I found out my daughter and my grandson are going to come and spend the summer with us. Yes, people. I'm excited beyond belief. Uh cannot wait. Uh got Josh signed up for some soccer. We're gonna play soccer, we're gonna get some horse riding lessons, we're gonna do gardening. I'm gonna spoil them rotten. And with any luck, maybe they will extend their visit to a longer visit than just the summer time. And we'll see what the world holds for us, right? Lots, lots happening. Lots happening in this world. Um, shall we talk about one of the fun things you and I did? Yes. Yes, let's just jump into that because it was fun.

SPEAKER_01

So, first, I'm just gonna tell you about my drive over here this morning. Oh, please do. Okay, so every Sunday morning, this is like my favorite part of the week. I love this. Like I have my coffee in my little beautiful cup, my wiener dog mug. Yes. I got in my car and I I'll always have like I just want a song while I'm driving. So if I'm not listening to my books, I do audiobooks. I will listen to music and I'm I'm a music buff. I love music. So I just I put on a random, just easy listening song. I can't remember what the first one I had was just easy. But for some reason, the algorithm of my my Spotify playlist just decided to throw in all these like party songs. I was like, Eagles, heartache tonight, ACDC, you shook me all in one. I was like, I kept hitting go ahead, and it was just like one after another. It was like like Steve Miller band. And I was like, what do you think I did last night? Like, do you think I was up whooping it up? Because I got news for you. I was in bed by 10:30. And I mean, can we just do a little Enya, a little Orinoco flow or something? Like, can we calm down? Calm down, Spotify, and just let me chill on a Sunday morning. Yeah, none of that. There was no Lionel Richie. There was none of no, it was like, girl, you must have been rocking with Lionel Richie. Oh no, oh my god, that one actually did come up in the I was going, I'm not joking. That song actually did all night long. Come on. Yeah, I was thinking, you know, easy luck Sunday morning. I was thinking of that one. That gave me the head too. Yeah, no, I didn't have any easy like Sunday morning music. It was like, gosh, we really want to be on the party, right? I know. They must know we're going to a retirement party today. Maybe that's what it is. Before I was listening, and it was like, let's prime her up.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, she needs to know. There's a party happening. It's only a few hours away.

SPEAKER_01

Get ready, girl. Here it comes. So on my drive, though, it is prime lupin season in Nova Scotia. The highways are just glowing with lupins.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I know. I saw them everywhere. Sent you a screenshot last night. I bet you didn't do that little thievery I told you to do across the park.

SPEAKER_01

I got a car full of people who were cattle. Oh, there were a lot of people around.

SPEAKER_00

That's a public place. I know, but there's only about six of them there. Wow. Listen, public place. Okay, people. This is where we got some lupins yesterday. All right, people? It was in a parking lot on a main street, not blocked by buildings, out in the open, and we're there with a shovel at 8 a.m. 8 a.m., putting lupins in the back of a van. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

They were coming home.

SPEAKER_00

They're coming home. And they're replanted in the back. I know they don't they don't look real beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

They're a little wilty and kind of stuff, but but I did read they're they're a little sensitive to move, apparently.

SPEAKER_00

Are they? Well, I'm going out for more anyway. So John's gonna come help me with my thievery because in the place of which I live, there could be a parking lot or there could be some stuff around. No descriptors left. I can't give away my spots. That's right.

SPEAKER_01

A location yet to be disclosed. But there are so many, like I'm telling you, lupins make me, they're just they're such a beautiful and they do spread and they're quite like a wild flower, technically, but I mean they grow in gardens lovely. Anyway, good luck. I hope they take. I I hope they do too. But I'm ready with a shovel to make it more. If we need to the shovel to protect you. So we did put a picture up on Instagram and Facebook on the Voice the Walk podcast site.

SPEAKER_00

Go to the podcast. Take a look. It is us um replanting lupins. And we were actually stealing them. It was in them, it was actually that no more. We were taking from one home rehoming. Rehoming. That's what we were doing. We were re-homing lupins. But now we only got the purple ones. I really want those pink ones. So now I'm on the hunt to uh re-home some pink ones. Okay. We're on it. It'll happen. It absolutely will. I did not do anything last evening on a Sunday even Saturday evening. Um, all kinds of things came in my head. I was gonna go for a nice little drive with John someplace and see, you know, the river come in or watch the tide come in someplace. Sat down and then that was it. Once I sat, I thought, mm, no, but I can't get up again. I'm done now. That was it. So this morning, and when when you go home, I have a whole itinerary of things to do. I gotta get a mirror placed on the wall for the room. I've got to chip the beds changed, I gotta get the room all set up. I want to get a dresser downstairs, I gotta have all this stuff all ready as I plan for the highlight of my cellar. I just think it's yeah, it's super exciting. It is, I know.

SPEAKER_01

We'll have some great barbecues and can't wait. Yeah, we'll just stuff. Can we take the kayaks out at my place?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, we are fine. Yep, yep. I know. Listen, the list is as long as my arm. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Wonderful.

SPEAKER_00

That's it. All right, let's move into a little bit of a conversation that I absolutely love. So we both were listening to another podcast that we both love. Woo-woo with Rachel Dratch.

SPEAKER_01

And I am such, I'm a huge Rachel Dratch fan of. This is my actual. I loved her on Saturday Night Live. I love her like I think I just even she seems such a um natural yeah, down to earth. I don't know what it is, but I just easily approachable comedy. Yeah. Just funny gal. It is, yes. And her podcast is really good.

SPEAKER_00

It's a woo-woo. That's actually the name of it, uh, by the way, woo-woo with Rachel Josh. But the, you know, and as we started listening to it, I kept thinking, oh Cher, good God, we got about half a dozen stories ourselves. Yeah. So we're not uh piggybacking off of that. However, we just wanted to know there's another podcast that's absolutely hilarious uh um with that woo-woo story. So we're gonna jump in with a couple. Uh, we're gonna go across uh woo-woo from other people as well as ourselves. But Cher has got some doozies that she's gonna share. And I don't know where you want to begin. Can I leap in on one? Okay, that that to this day still to me blows me away. Oh I don't even know I don't even know. Uh oh, I thought it was on my list to share. Okay, so we're talking about a ring one. That's the one I'm talking about. It is this story, like I'm gonna lead up to it, and then I'm handing the mic. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So I will just say, as a family, like our mother was very in tune. Oh gosh, yes. She was, and she I I think it was something she was very proud of as well. And I think her family was, but mom was specifically, she was very in tune with her uh in intuition, in tune with her intuition.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, and I think all of us as siblings, I believe we all have a bit. So we're just gonna talk about ours. I know our sisters have other things too, but we have some stories that we want to talk about. So, and as I get older, I'm a little I'm getting more and more in tune with it. And here, look, and also I'm not ashamed to talk about it, folks. Oh my gosh. I'm own, I own all of it. And even my kids and my okay and Charlie. So he called me a little witchy too. And I just, it's such an endearing term. It doesn't, it doesn't I love it.

SPEAKER_00

So you know Johnny, right? Yeah. So Italian Johnny. Italian Johnny, yes. He comes in and he'll get all my crystals organized and bring them out. He says, It's the full moon. I got it a table all set up. Love it. Oh, he goes, I got the fire all set up for you. He says, Do you need me to help you with any of the incense or anything you want to bring outside? He'll say, Oh, do you need the the chair put in here so that you can do your meditation? Do you want me like John is like embraced me with both hands and picked me up and said, You want to be Witchy Clotted? There you go. Here it is for you. I see, he's just like how beautiful is that. No kidding. I love that. And and even when we were like, this has been going on for years. That's not since we've been here. So even in our backyard, way back in Ontario, he'd set up a little barbecue, like his uh charcoal barbecue. Yeah. He'd get the flames going for the full moon, and he'd say, Here's a chair all ready for you. You know, does Josh want to come out and help you with all your stuff? I mean, this is like we're we're talking 10 plus years. Johnny's been on the the sometimes he calls it the crazy train, but it's not the we're gonna call it the boo-boo train. He's called a few things. Yeah, don't just that's fine. Okay. I got you, honey.

SPEAKER_01

I believe it. I'm all over it. So I'll start the ring story. And I was I was young because we it was our first home Charles and I ever bought in the community that we live in now. And the home was it was a beautiful home. And our neighbors were so that I still miss my neighbors, but we're still in touch with them. And the people who bought the home um were lovely and they were kind of invested in us because they they loved that home dearly. And when they knew it was a young family at the time, um Avery, our oldest, was six months old when we bought the home. Okay. And I could tell she loved the home because she's like, Oh, if you're gonna make any renovation, she said, I'd love to see what you're doing. Um, we only live a few communities over. I'm still in touch with our neighbors. And often if she was ever visiting the neighbor, she'd pop over and just be like, Oh, what have you done? And we had taken out some walls and changed the carpets to the hardwood and whatnot. After a year that we were in the home, they moved to Calgary, this the family that owned the house. And it was that year Charles and I said, Why don't we redo the kitchen? So we're going to sand down the wood cabinetry, and we were going to spray them, paint them. So I was on top and we did the bathroom and we did the kitchen. And I was on top, uh, it was on a chair. I remember reaching into the back of one of the cabinets, and one of the cabinets, it was like sticky. It was almost like a bottle of like cough syrup had spilled. It was like kind of sticky, and I was scrubbing it, and my cloth got stuck on something. And when I reached in, it was a ring and it was wedged kind of like in the wood almost. It was stuck and I cleaned it up. It was all green and I washed it, and it was a beautiful ring. And um, it would have fit like on my middle finger. It was kind of a big ring. So I looked at it, I thought, oh, that's beautiful. It looked like I'd been there a very long time. I hadn't thought anything about it. I didn't know if it was costume jewelry or something that was worth something. I don't know. I honest God, I threw it in a drawer up in my bedroom and I forgot about it. Meanwhile, life goes on. We had another baby. I had gone back to work. It was, I think we'd been in the house three years, and I'm on a course downtown. And I wake up that morning and I'm getting ready to go into this course that's downtown Halifax. I get dressed, I open up the drawer, and for some reason I pick the ring up, slid it on my finger, and walked out the door to go to work. Drop the kids off at daycare and drive into the course after the course is done. I had a little extra time. So I stopped at a store to pick up some things. And who do I run into? The lady who owned our home. And we're talking. She, I was just like, oh my goodness, like, how's Calgary? She's like, great, we come home for when the weather gets nice. I go back to Cape Breton for a little bit. She said, We're gonna go over and visit our neighbors too. I said, This is amazing, how nice. And then I said goodmar goodbyes and I left. I went home. About an hour later, there's a knock on the door, and she said, Uh, you know that ring you had on your finger? She said, Uh, where did you get it? And I said, And I when I got home from work, I took it off and I put it back in the drawer. So I I said, I found it in the cupboards when we were redoing the kitchen. She said, Oh my god, that was my grandmother's ring. And I said, Oh my God. No, actually, I was wearing it still. I ripped it off my finger and I just put it in her hand. I said, Well, that's her telling you it's back to its rightful owner. Like this new story. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That not just the craziest story. I mean, you told me that nice, like the hair on the back of my neck was.

SPEAKER_01

Every time I tell it, I still get like that ring was meant to, it had to go back to her.

SPEAKER_00

You do run into her. It was nuts. Like, what are the chances on that day in that drawer, you put it on your finger and meet her in the store, and then she says I had not worn that ring. Nope.

SPEAKER_01

I hadn't, it hadn't been on my finger since the day we had found that ring.

SPEAKER_00

It's absolutely nuts, right? I mean, that is the craziest thing. Yeah. I love that story. Yes. Absolutely love it.

SPEAKER_01

And I remember the emotion after when I gave it to her, and I remember she was so relieved and thankful and grateful. But honestly, when I I remember thinking like when I gave it to her, I was just like, well, I I almost felt like, oh, I I wasn't, I almost felt like this does not belong to me. It was that feeling of like, this is not mine. Do you know what I mean? Oh, I know. And I mean, it wasn't obvious, but I mean I found it in a home that we had owned for a year or so. And years have gone by. And they weren't the first owners of the home. It had been, I don't know, the whole thing was just, this is yours. Yep. This this is belongs to you. This is yours. That is so crazy. Yeah, crazy story. But yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean, my stories I are, I mean, I've got all kinds of them, but we'll go talk about mom in a bit. Mine are all about mine really apply to my family, right? I have very strong intuition about my children. Um, when something's about to happen. Or mostly it's about when something's about to happen. And everything in me, from my toes right up to the roots of my hair, say, uh, you need to stand up and you've got to go do something. So I will, I'll get up, go do something, find out where they're at, and say, um, how about if you come with me at this moment and we'll go do something different? And every single time it has turned out that there was something happening at that location that would have impacted them. And it's crazy. I mean, and and it it could have even been, you know, late at night, early in the morning, and it would just just come to me. Uh, I think one of the strongest ones when the kids were very, very babies. Like they like uh Samantha was just a baby, um, and Matthew was a little bit older, but 9-11. I was working at GM and I had this thing that came over me. Like it was just this, like I'm talking like where I was almost in tears, and I could just, I couldn't catch my breath. And I went into my boss and said, I I gotta go get my kids from from daycare. I said, Something, uh, something must be wrong. And I didn't have cell phones, right? I mean, I just didn't have a lot of things back in that era. I just didn't. And I just kind of I got up and I left work. I got the kids, took them home, and we're sitting on the couch. John was doing afternoons at that particular time, and there it was all on TV. But all of this happened so early because I always had to be at jam so early, right? Before the shifts all to do the work and all of that. But it was like this full-on massive panic attack. And I hadn't, I mean, you always get anxiety, right? You know, that thing you feel in your stomach or whatever. But this was like it had consumed every ounce of my human being. And I mean, it didn't I was gonna say it didn't impact us here in Canada.

SPEAKER_01

You said what event happened, right? 9-11. 9-11, yes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was it was and I still remember to this day, I can still physically feel like there weren't cell phones back there.

SPEAKER_01

Unless you were watching a television, like the news being broadcast.

SPEAKER_00

No, you wouldn't have seen it. You wouldn't have seen there was there was it was no internet really.

SPEAKER_01

Like I don't even like we didn't have a home computer with internet at 2001.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, I mean what have been just born. I I had very little, right? The children were young. Yes. I mean, even though I was working in the most highest end with you know the company I was with, right?

SPEAKER_01

And I did have a PC on my desk, it wasn't internet connected to bringing the government, or we had just transferred from the government, and I think we were using like a very antiquated like system. It wasn't like you could log onto the internet.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But I didn't have any ink, like there's no way to get this information. And it was much later in the morning, too, as it happened when it started to flow in on the TVs and and showing stuff happening. But everything, like I mean, there was like I completely to this day I can still tell you the anxiety I felt, like that that unbelievable tension in my my chest. And I was certain something was happening with the kids. I was I was positive something had happened. They fallen, they hurt themselves, or maybe they were ill or something along those lines. And when I got them and they were both just like, whoa, we're up early, this is, you know. But that was crazy. Trust your feelings. Oh, I know. So your gut always. Yeah. I like it. I shouldn't say I should say uh I know when my gut's telling me something, but I don't like it when I can't figure out why. Right. There isn't a thing, right? Um I I'm not about to walk into someplace, right? I could just be sitting someplace and it all comes from the stomach to the head, and that's just like okay.

SPEAKER_01

Well, what is it? So a lot of times, and I'm gonna say now that we're older, we can get in tune with picking up on other people's stuff, right? So picking up on the energy or the other people's emotions affect, I feel like they affect you greatly. Um, if other people's you know, anxiety or they're down or they're up, whatever, you feel that. Oh yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Wasn't it you who gave me that book one Christmas?

SPEAKER_01

Uh the I think I did. I did. Oh, and you know who told me about this book? This leads into my next story.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, but that book, yeah. I mean, I read that twice. And why can't I get the name to come to me as fast as I can almost see the cover of it? I can see the cover. And if I suppose if I looked at my bookcase right at this moment, who has no glasses on at this very moment, I'd probably see it. Um can't get it. Can't get it. Uh I'll take a picture and I promise I'll send it to you. You gave me that book. I did. I uh I sat and cried when I got it when I opened it. And I don't know, I don't I don't even know the book, right? But when I was reading it, I was just like, okay, that's one. Anyway, so sorry to lead you to that story.

SPEAKER_01

But Lori Brown, the friend, our mutual friend, um she recommended that book. It's an empath. Empathie. You know, when a guide for empaths or something like that is anyways, yes. So she recommended that book. And when I first met Lori back in, I think I met her in 2020. It would have been like during early COVID times. We spent a lot of time together during the COVID days, um, her and Brad. Um she and I hadn't known Lori. So we we live in the same community, and ironically, the house that I spoke of in my first story, they lived right across the street. So she would have been, and at that time, I think she was living with her um her at her life at that time would have been in Ontario or around because her life at that time was a military life, and it's it's not now, but she's back living in her family home, and her mom and dad have moved to the apartment, so they have a home, but it's right across the street from the house I spoke of earlier. So we have been kind of hanging out, you know, every couple weekends. We kind of learn pretty early off Lori's pretty in tune as well. She's very, she's very in tune, she's very on the road of the empath kind of thing.

SPEAKER_00

She can pick up more than that.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yeah. She's she's she's on the she's on the wavelength. Oh, she's on the level. She's got it. She's in the woo-woo world. She's in there. And she's on the wavelength. So I never really and I honestly never spoke about any kind of little inklings that I've ever had. Except when I met Lori, she's like, Oh, you're you're a little woo-woo, aren't you? And I'm like, Oh, I don't know. Um, am I? I I don't know. She's like, Oh yeah, you you are you're woo-woo. You you got and she calls it woo-woo. So before I we ever listened to the woo-woo podcast, she's like, woo-woo was the where I heard the woo-woo chim was.

SPEAKER_00

You told me woo-woo. I would, I don't. I just call it engaged.

SPEAKER_01

Engaged. So I like the woo-woo and I'm all about anyway. I'm so she kind of opened up to like, you know, you should probably get in tune with it a little more. Because I feel I have a feeling you're kind of woo-woo. So um, her and I have probably I was very shortly after her and I met, I had a dream. And in this dream, oh, I don't want to get emotional. I've been at the same place, like physically, place of employee. I'm just gonna give a little background before I jump into my dream to give a little bit of context. I have physically worked at the same building for 30 years. And when I started working very early on, I would have been only there maybe two. Years, three years, and a lady who was very young at the time, but I was in my 20s, she would have been her 40s. So I looked at her as a very mature woman, but she was a very young woman now that I look back at how old she was. She had an aneurysm at work and passed at work.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god. And she didn't know her.

SPEAKER_01

And she passed just down the hall from me when it happened. And I can remember being everyone was so respectful, and we were all trying to be very respectful to the space and trying to let EMT come in at that time. It was, it was just a very difficult time. And I had known her only a little bit because I was in a different department, so I didn't get to work directly with her, but she would have known me, she would have said hello, Sherry, but I wouldn't have I wasn't very close with her. Okay, so now fast forward almost 30 years, and I'm meet Lori. I have a dream. And in this dream, I'm walking into a room, and the room is very white and bright. And it's like a waiting room, or it's like oh, I remember describing it almost like a funeral, like a a wake. And there's this lady that I knew, and she's sitting in a red dress. She's the only person in the room I recognize. I didn't rec recognize any of these people, but I walk right by her and I look right into her eyes, and she looks right into mine, and I say her name. Like, oh my gosh, hello. I uh I haven't seen you in so long. And she doesn't say anything to me, but she looks right at me and just kind of motions for the door, and then I go out the door and I leave, and then I wake up. So we're one night, a week later, or something, we're sitting around a table, and then I feel like a low Lori gets the woo-woo. Like maybe I should tell her what this means. So we're sitting at the kitchen table, and I say, Okay, I know Lori, you're in tune. I gotta tell you this dream I just had, and you tell me maybe if you have a idea what of what inside of what it means. She's like, Oh my god. I told her the name of the person. She said, That was my mom's best friend.

SPEAKER_00

No you.

SPEAKER_01

Oh She said, they did everything together when they were, they camped together, they had dinners together, they were best friends. And she said it was very difficult when she passed on on her mom. Wow. She said that was her coming to say, Hey, tell you, tell her I'm I'm okay. Oh my goosebumps right now telling that story. This is this is only the second time I've this is only the second time I've ever relayed this story.

SPEAKER_00

Holy crap. Yeah, that's a your dream. Listen, I can't tell everybody in the audience here out there, every one of your dreams, but your dreams are so specific. Like, and they are vivid and alive and everything. Now, I will only really research mine when they are as detailed as yours. Like the the other night, you know, when I had the dream of the wolf and all of that. So I mean, but they're so like that doesn't happen to me a lot. I mean, I will have the one from the sky. That was a very important too. Yeah, it's beautiful, actually. That sky. Anyway, so I mean, when I have them, and they're not as not as frequent as yours, but yours are so vivid with you know, as many um mammals and so I've started, like I've always had very vivid dreams.

SPEAKER_01

I've only just recently started writing them down because I feel like I should probably tap into a little more and see what goes on or what what is it? What are the what's someone trying to tell me? I don't know. But having a dream with specific people, like that dream for me, I remember thinking that was awesome. I remember walking through the room and looking at all these people, and I don't recognize anybody. I don't recognize anybody except her in this red dress. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder what the red dress means. The red dress probably means I'm fine, I'm happy. Maybe. Oh, I never really thought to look that up, maybe. But what a the the coincidence there are just crazy. So we'll talk a little bit about the one that mom has that stays with me frequently simply because of uh the cousin who came to stay with us for a while when we lived in Ontario. And that's you know kind of how I relate back, knowing so much about the story, right? So mom had a dream and she was uh sound asleep, but on her dream, sitting on her bed, was her sister Gloria. So every time mom had a dream and Gloria came to her, there was going to be a passing, right?

SPEAKER_01

A lot of it times it was crossing that little creek. She always had like wanted to cross over from this little bridge that would come.

SPEAKER_00

I know. But every single time, hmm, should I say every single time? Because mom never told me all her dreams. But let's just say when mom would tell us of the vivid dreams that she had of Gloria, this was her youngest sister who passed quite young in life. And tragically. Yeah, tragically. Uh and had a major impact on mom's life for the rest of her life, right? Uh, in her passing. Um, and every time she came to mom, there was going to be somebody who was either very, very ill and needed mom, or has or was just about to pass, right? So at this particular case, she sat on mom's bed and said, You need to get up. Your nephew is quite ill, and you need to go and see him immediately. Now, mom had not seen him in many years. I mean, and his illness wasn't nobody knew about it. Didn't tell anybody. Well, I shouldn't say nobody knew about it. No, it wasn't it wasn't shared with the rest of the extended family of his illness. Um, so mom literally woke up that morning and lit like literally said to dad, I'm going over to Newfoundland. Like that moment. She didn't, it wasn't like I should plan, I should call people, validate stuff. No, mom's packing the suitcase. She trusts her, she trusted those Gloria's appearance, like you wouldn't believe. Packed her suitcase. Dad's driving her off to North Sydney to get on the boat to go across to Newfoundland. And that was it. She was gone. She went and picked up her other sister. They got on a bus and drive for hours into um, I want to say, I want to say Cornerbrook.

SPEAKER_01

Uh it would make sense for Cornerbrook because a lot of that family was all founders.

SPEAKER_00

They're all got up. Mom and her sister got in there, went to see him. That's about five hours from Bishops, right? Yeah. And uh he was, he was remarkably ill. And mom was able to see him before he passed, and was able to, you know, sit with him and say, you know, how much you know that he meant to her and how much they meant as you know, his his aunts were always there and they would always help take care of the kids.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's mom had a dream before Uncle Norman passed, and his death was tragic. It was an illness, it was an accidental death. And he I think she had a dream before his passing, but couldn't do anything about it because it was it wasn't even yeah, yeah, there's no plan in that.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah. So, anyways, that was mom's side, but mom always had these dreams. But every single time she always dreamt of her sisters who had passed. And when her sister sat on her bed and came to her, she knew instantly that there was something she had to address.

SPEAKER_01

You know what's beautiful, it's how connected mom was with her sisters, too. Yeah, like I remember like Aunt Margaret coming to see mom before she passed. Aunt Margaret really went through and Karina brought her up. It was such a difficult journey to get there, and there you could just see them. Oh mom, I think mom's waiting for her.

SPEAKER_00

Who she was. Yeah. Remember, I walked through and held her hand, she barely opened it. I mean, she knew I was there, so there was no nothing on my part. But you know, she you know acknowledged, she uh you know, tried to speak, but she kept her eyes closed. And even then when we spent the night and I stayed with her and everything, and you and and uh and the others and our other sisters as well. We all stayed there, and she you know barely opened her eyes and to talk. When Aunt Margaret walked into the room, and you know how full of life Aunt Margaret is, and San, San, get up now. Here I am, I'm already here, right? Mom opened her eyes. I think she even made a noise, even wide, yeah, smiled and opened her mouth to even speak. And I I I think we almost all fell down and went, what the yeah, what happened there?

SPEAKER_01

And and she was, she was literally weaving. And I remember talking with Aunt Marg years ago because I think Aunt Mark had, I think she also had the gift of woo-woo. I think I'm pretty confident she did. So, and I know her daughters, Yvonne, uh, listens for sure in a net. So I wonder if they have some stories they could share on that. But I remember um, I'm sure Aunt Mark told me a story one time where she saw I've never seen like an apparition or anything, I've never experienced that. I think Aunt Mark had.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I think she told me a story. I can't remember all the details.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. So no, mom mom always saw her sisters. That's that's pretty well it's that's the only one she would share with us, and it was her sisters. Uh, you got a couple of other doozy woo-woos that I think you can kind of share, don't you? I do. I think you've got you've got a I had to write down because I mean some I I really but yours were always oh my gosh, you'd share them, and I just think to myself, oh, you've got some good ones.

SPEAKER_01

I see. So um when Charles and I were first married, we lived right with mom and dad, but we shared it was like a duplex. We lived on one half and mom and dad lived on the other. And we were so young. Gosh, I was probably 22 at the time. I don't even, I guess we would have had Avery. I was expecting Avery. You would have been expecting Avery. I think I was pregnant with Avery. Or we had no, we just had him. He was just a baby because when we were baby, when we went over to the funeral. And I'm outside hanging laundry and I heard my name. I could have sworn mom yelled my name. Like yelled it so much, I dropped everything because I thought she was injured. And I go next door and I say, Oh, are you what's are you okay? And she's in the kitchen. She's like, I'm fine. I said, Oh, you yell, you yelled my name. She said, No. And then a couple hours later, we got a phone call and Nan Bartlett passed.

SPEAKER_00

No way. You have a but you're keeping all this crap to yourself, man, or what?

SPEAKER_01

I was kind of going back in the vault, like, okay, what have I what have I had that I can like talk about? And I was like, oh, that was that was one. Yeah. And I remember mom was like, oh my God, you just came over and told me I yelled your name. She said, That was Nan. That was Nan. Yeah, mom would say that too. I could visualize mom saying that in a heartbeat. Absolutely. Mom had a ton of superstitions and things that were. Oh, absolutely. Um, what do you call it with um what do you call foreboding or what do you call like a a forerunner? Forerunners. Forerunners. Yeah. A forerunner is something that appears or happens as an indication something's going to happen. A forerunner, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I've had numerous times in my life, and I I can tell you where I've heard my name, right? I mean, but I can't tell you if there was something happening, but I've stopped what I was doing to go find out where that was coming from. I mean, that's happened numerous times. But maybe it was stopping me from doing something, maybe it was taking me in a different if I kept walking two more steps forward, something would have happened. I don't I have no idea, but I've had numerous occasions where I've stopped because I can literally hear my name. And then you kind of looking around thinking, oh God, I have literally lost my mind. Okay, now that's the moment, and this is it. And now truly crazy. And I've stopped everything I've done to turn around to do find the person calling my name. But I can't tell you if there was ever anything else that happened under under those circumstances. So, but that's crazy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I mean, here we I wasn't particularly close with the Nan Burlet, only because we lived so we lived in Nova Scotia, and the majority of her grandchildren lived in Newfoundland or they were close by and older, honestly, because we were on the younger end.

SPEAKER_00

We were far more closer to our relatives simply because it was easier now for mom and dad to get to where they needed to go to, as they had uh well well, you're Tammy was a same age as you, but easier to travel uh over because from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland is easier. You were quite smaller. Dad was retired from military. So we had like an actual civilian vacation time. So so I did not, I mean, I was once a year that I met all my cousins, right? And that would be about it. And then I moved off to Ontario, and I just didn't I didn't travel with vacations with mom and dad over to Newfoundland. I did a lot of things. Yeah. So you would be much closer in that aspect. Yeah. And I think you reminded um uh Nan Bartlett of Marilyn. I think you had a I think when she saw you. She used to say that a lot. Yeah, yeah. That I think she kind of went back to her youngest child, Marilyn, and I think she kind of went, oh, sherry Marilyn.

SPEAKER_01

You know? I did dad used to say too that I I think I looked like Marilyn. You did when I was younger. Yeah, maybe now as I'm getting older, maybe now I'm well take a look at uh Sophie. Marilyn's little one.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Like come on.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Twins.

SPEAKER_01

Kyla? Yes. Yes. Are we talking my cousin Kyla, who's my age, Sophie looked very much like Kyla on the purple.

SPEAKER_00

It's just crazy. Right? That blonde curly curly hair. Yeah. We diverse once again, you and I, off into another world. Here we go. That was crazy. No, yeah. I mean, there's so many things we can talk about and uh uh with woo-woo. Um love to talk more about it as we go through it.

SPEAKER_01

If I can impart anything, it would be trust, trust your, trust your feelings. Also, um, you know, maybe something's happening for a greater reason. So trust that too. Trust that what you're currently in might be leading to something um else that's meant for you. So yeah, trust the process.

SPEAKER_00

I can't stress enough that that is absolutely the truth. Trust the process. For years, you know, I would always doubt that first thought. I now say that more than anything. I'm like John at his betting, right? I said, What was the first horse that came to your mind? And he'll say, Well, number six or whatever you say, right? And he'd pick ten or three, and who came across the finish line? Number six. I said, Stop doing that. I said, You know, and I I I say it, I can't, I believe it from the core of my soul. When that first thought comes to your head, that's the one. Stop saying, Okay, well, now if that happened and that happened, what if I do this, right? That first thought is normally the right one. And then kind of work through how that first thought comes into play with everything else, right? Yeah. If your first thought is to slap your sister, don't do it.

SPEAKER_01

Joke, I'm sorry. I couldn't think of that. Have you ever wanted to slap her?

SPEAKER_00

Never, never came far enough away. I feel good here. But you know, I'm just saying the first thought is always it to me, it's always the right one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It is. That's your intuition and your gut telling you. Just do it. That's right. Do it. That's it. Stop doubting. All right, what else we got going on today? Uh, well, one step better, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So um we got our lupins. We got the lupins, and I'm still baby stepping my way through my my baking and my my little farm stand. I know. I have taken some baby steps this week, though, to like come up with uh an easy way to a design.

SPEAKER_00

Got a design happening there. I love it. Yeah, it's kind of I wasn't in tune with what you were doing there, right? When you first picked out that design and said, Oh no, you can't do that. That's plywood. That's and then you said what you were gonna paint. I said, Okay, all right, now this is coming together. Right. I loved it too. Put some wheels, big wheels on it. The color is gorgeous. Yeah, come on, it's beautiful.

SPEAKER_01

I know. So I think, yeah, and I need a little open flag, and I know I'm getting there. It's gonna happen. So it might be Halloween. I might be doing pumpkins and whoever knows by the time it happens. But I'm a like I said before, I'm a baby stepper, so I need to like I I it's okay.

SPEAKER_00

Baby steps are all right. Right. I'm at a blank now for my one step better this week. I'm I'm at a complete blank. Oh, you've been full of things too. Because dad would say piss and vinegar. Yeah, but no, I I I I sat back last night and said, okay, well what's the thing? What am I gonna do? And nothing like nothing popped into my head to be the thing. And again, as I explained to you when you first came this morning, I am so consumed with me. I am like I'm all wrapped up in me, right? I gotta get my house ready for my my baby's coming, right? I gotta get it cleaned up for my baby's coming, right? I gotta, I gotta address, you know, the other things that are happening in my life that, you know, I will journey into over the next little while. I'm so excited for our conference we're going to on Thursday. Oh my gosh, I'm so excited for you. Are you kidding me? Yeah. So I mean, we're going to a conference in Halifax, everybody, for uh podcasting. And I am just so excited. Yeah, I want to learn. I want to. I mean, we just jumped into this two feet. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We are like like like two feet and a heartbeat and a prayer, and hey, let's see how it goes. That's it. Well, he's like throwing stuff up and like it wasn't for producer Dan.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not even certain. I don't know where we'd be without producer Dan. Oh, Dan's great. I know he is. He's beyond great. He's fabulous. Yeah. So we keep we keep throwing stuff at him. He'll do stuff and we'll go, okay, well, that's good. Change this. And either one of us are contemplating, oh, he has a full-time job, he has a home, and he has a life, and he lives 1700 kilometers away. Okay. But we're so wrapped up in, oh, the podcast with producer Dan. So we've got a lot going on. So this week, I think I might need, I'm going to take a like a little hiatus for my one step better this week as I get my rooms ready, uh, go in to see dad because it's a new journey into his new location. Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I want to make sure that's new routines are coming. New routines are coming. Oh. Are we going to give everybody Well, I feel like we just need to like be respectful of how life's going to change. So you there's there's a ton of things coming up that are your daily life is gonna be very different.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Everything everything will be, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

There's all kinds of stuff. And we're gonna go into season two soon. And uh but come on, episode 14 on June 14th. Come and we talk about woo-woo. This is meant to be baby. This is it. We're on a roll, you and I, and it truly is like the highlight of my week is sitting here and doing all kinds of stuff. Do you see my face slowly getting red? I do. What's happening? So I took a new vitamin. So I did some all kinds of I'm on um uh vitamin B with niacin, and it expands your copillaries uh throughout your body. So my fingers get all tingly and my face gets all red. And so what it's doing, it's improving the blood flow in my body to address any um heart conditions, any high blood pressure, and it takes you, it relaxes you all the way through.

SPEAKER_01

You look like I did when I put on the uh it's there's I went okay. I have a little bit of vanity. Uh so I'm just gonna say I went to a tanning booth before my vacation. And they it's there's this tangle tanning lotion. No, they didn't tell me it opens your capillaries all over your body and you turn bright red. I looked like I was oh, it was bad. And I also looked like I was having a medical emergency.

SPEAKER_00

So so so I all you see, so it's I'm not warm. Like I'm like if you were to touch me, I'm not hot, right? Because you look like you are. I look like I'm having this complete thing. Yeah, your face is super. And it doesn't happen every day. It's like every other day it happens. So yesterday, yesterday it did not happen. So I took it, went to ci dad, all good, didn't happen. Uh, but today I can feel it in my face and I can feel it in my hands and my fingers. Okay. And all of that. Now it goes away. It's about an hour, it goes away, and it's like it's not there. But the benefits of the vitamin B with niacin in it is it that the flow, it helps. So I'm taking it with a variety of other things, right? So that number one, I don't ever need to have any type of blood pressure medication. Um, number two, it also helps uh with the digestion of food. So as you you can hear like you can hear my stomach. I'm sure all our listeners can. That's very loud. It is. Your tongue is really good. I'm not hungry or anything, but all of this is kind of your body's kind of getting used to it. And we've only been on it for a week, right? So John takes it. John doesn't get any of this. So but John does not have high blood pressure, his heart is phenomenal, his weight is not over, right? He doesn't have the extra things that I've got going on when my body's kind of going, okay, we need to fix this, right? Oh, this needs to happen here. So that's why uh in my hands, it's the most bizarre kind of feeling in my hands. So I wanted to say, I know you were probably gonna look at me and go, I know you're you're really flush, but I know. So and it happens right from the head right down to your face. I feel better knowing now it's I don't even know if you can see it. That's actually coming into my toes now, too. Yeah, isn't that great? So I think it's great because it's opening all that up, making my heart strong. Okay. So, so maybe again we are the medical professionals. No, no, no. Well, please do not take my advice on crap. If you've got any common sense, you're not gonna take my advice on the you go look that up. And we just talked about woo-woo.

SPEAKER_01

So let's combine these two together and just evaluate our credibility for giving anybody advice on any advice whatsoever.

SPEAKER_00

Let me let me ask my card. What does this really mean? You go call Sherry Clement. I have a life-changing moment. Yeah, what'd you guys propose? Yeah, so I should look at the camera so they can see how red I am. Oh, yeah. Yeah, see, look at that. Oh, yeah. And in about, let's say, under about the next 45 minutes, it's all gone. You wouldn't even know it was. Thank goodness. I know. Okay. All right, but you're okay, which is the main thing. It's kind of neat. Actually, it's it's strange if you could feel it. It's just it you can feel it going all through your your whole system. It's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Even your arms are red.

SPEAKER_00

I know, I told you. Everything. But it's blue. Do you have rosacea like mom? Oh god, yes. And I hate it because I can't cover it with anything. You can't cover it with any type of medication, any uh foundation or anything. And if you get that one that's green and you put on top of it and you put Yeah Well, I don't mean to criticize our makeup world, but it doesn't work worth crap. So, and it's terrible because my nose can go red right down the straight of of here. And you know, if somebody's a very, very heavy drinker, they always have that red nose. Yeah. I'm always thinking to myself, oh my gosh, I'm gonna go in there see this great big red nose and red cheeks. We are supping on last night. Got it. But uh that's it. So Okay. But I'm all good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so we're just like one step better can. I mean, we're we're getting better all the time. We don't have to have a definitive task to make us one step better this week, but we are always moving forward. That's the key. Yes, we are always moving forward. And I think actually one step better this week could be our conference we're doing Thursday.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_01

Like our one step better could be that. I think that's a that's completely acceptable.

SPEAKER_00

One step better.

SPEAKER_01

A hundred percent. Yes, right? I I love it.

SPEAKER_00

Good for you.

SPEAKER_01

Check mark. There. Didn't miss a week. I'm here to help you. I'm like, I'm here. I'm here for you.

SPEAKER_00

Better half.

SPEAKER_01

That's right.

SPEAKER_00

All right, we're gonna call that a day. All right. We are all right. Got anything for anybody today?

SPEAKER_01
