Behold Him Night Vol. I | Who is Jesus?

In a world full of distractions, there is one invitation that changes everything: Behold Him.

This first Behold Him Night is a time of stillness, prayer, and reflection centered on the person of Jesus Christ. Join us as we spend time in His presence through instrumental worship and a teaching on the question that every person must answer:

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is not merely a teacher to admire, but a King to surrender to. He is God revealed, the Savior of the world, and the One worthy of our complete devotion.

Whether you're listening during prayer, driving, studying, or simply seeking to draw near to God, our prayer is that this time helps you fix your eyes on Jesus once again.

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image..." — 2 Corinthians 3:18

So, Lord, we thank you for this time that we can sit in your presence and see you. To see you rightly, Lord. To slow down and just think of the goodness of Jesus. Think of his mercy. To have our minds fixed on him. Our eyes fixed on the key. The eyes fixed on our Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus. Lord, prepare our hearts for even the word. Allow our hearts to be like good soil, Lord, that the seed can be planted. And we bear good fruit, Lord. And have deep roots because we know Jesus. Not anything else. We know Jesus. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. And we're probably going to be going all over the place. It's a lot of scripture. This is God revealed. And John 1.14 it says, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we have seen his glory. Glory is of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. That verse alone speaks so much. And I believe what John is telling us in this verse is Jesus is more than a teacher, more than a prophet. But Jesus is God. He is the word that left heaven, left his throne to come down to earth. And we have seen his glory and grace and truth through the proximity. And I just want this to be a reminder to those who feel like they're so far from God, who feel like God is angry at them. There's the Lord who has left his throne in heaven so that he may dwell among you. And this is the whole point of behold him so that we can see Jesus rightly. He wants your heart, he wants you, and he wants you to come back to him. And I love this badge because I always look at it from the lens of John as a disciple. John is one that ate around Jesus, he is one that slept around Jesus in the same tents. He is he's been around Jesus. And I'm like, as a disciple of God, how much more are we supposed to be in the presence of Jesus, in proximity with Jesus? This is God. Colossians 1:15. If you want to know what God thinks of you, look at Jesus. If you want to know how to deal with the needy, look at Jesus. If you want another level of compassion, look at Jesus. He is the image of the invisible God, firstborn of all creation. He is He is God. So if you ever felt like God is upset at you, look at Jesus. Jesus loves you and gave him stuff for you. He died on the cross for you. Look at Jesus. Next one is Jesus the Savior. This is Matthew 1.21. And it says, He will save his people from their sins. The greatest problem in humanity is not politics, culture, or your circumstances. It is sin. Sin is it is sin is the greatest problem that we have as humanity. But we have good news. And the good news is Jesus merely came to save us. I love looking at Matthew, Matthew 27, 50, to where it says Jesus yielded up his spirit. And after Jesus yielded up his spirit, the veil was torn from top to bottom. We have a savior. Jesus did not come to merely improve us, he came to rescue us. The cross was not an accident. Jesus died in our place. He was crushed for our iniquities. He was pierced for our transgressions and bruised and crushed for our iniquities. This is Jesus who has saved us. 2 Corinthians 5.21 it says, For our sake he made him to be sinned who knew no sin. This is Jesus taking it up. The judgment I deserve, Jesus took. In Matthew 27, when the veil was torn, this is God saying, I'm gonna dwell in my people. You won't merely have to go through the tabernacle and the priest and have sacrifices, but I'm sending my son to make everything right, to dwell in his presence, to sit at his feet. Then here we go. Jesus is the king, Matthew 16, 15. Jesus asked, He says, Who do you say that I am? And that's still the question today. Many people want Jesus as Savior, but not as King. They want forgiveness without surrender. But Jesus did not come to just save our life. He came to become Lord over it. There are so many people who come up to the altar and they give their life to Jesus and they're saved. But do you actually give your life to Jesus? Do you actually give your life to Jesus? Is he Lord over your life? Is he Lord? It tells us in Luke that we pick up our cross daily, going and dying to our flesh. Lord, would you help us die to our flesh and allow you to be Lord of our life? This is what you have asked of us to do. Those who truly follow you. It is not my will, but your will be done. I love this in Philippians 2, 8 through 11, it says, and being found in human form, this is Jesus, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. And I was reading this verse earlier, and I wondered the reason we have a hard time allowing the Lord to be Lord of our life is because we're too prideful. Hmm. Just like Jesus humbled himself, Lord. Would you help us humble ourselves? Just when Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane. And he said, Not my will. He said, Lord, would you let this cup pass by me? He said, Not your will. Not my will, Lord, but your will be done. And Lord, allow that to be our same prayer. In his humility, he became man, he became obedient, and he died. Thank you, Lord, that we can look at the cross and see that the resurrection didn't make Jesus Lord, but it revealed him as Lord. Thank you, Lord, that it was revealed. Thank you, Lord, that it was revealed. Even in that, I think about the centurion man as he was looking at Jesus on the cross. And he says, Truly, this is the Son of God. This is Mark 15, 39. It says, and when the centurion who stood facing him saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, Truly this man was the son of God. Truly this man was the son of God. And I questioned why did it take it to this moment for the centurion to realize that this was the son of God? Because Mark doesn't simply just say the centurion saw. Everyone saw Jesus die. And I asked the question, what did the centurion see? And he saw Jesus remain composed under unimaginable suffering. And I think this Roman centurion over time has seen many crucifixions. He's seen many crucifixions. Get me off this cross. But when he saw Jesus, he realized he was different. Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them. Jesus said, care for my mother. Jesus extended mercy to the thief. Jesus remained obedient to the Father. He saw a man, Jesus, willingly surrender his life. Jesus wasn't a victim. Throughout the gospels, Jesus says his life is not being taken from him. In John 10, 18, it says, No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. Even in Matthew 27, when he said he yielded his spirit, no one took his spirit. Jesus yielded his own spirit and stayed on the cross because of love. Even when Jesus cries and gives up his spirit, there's still a sense of authority. That you still reign. And it says, Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. She went up to him and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me. But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which would not be taken away from her. The one thing necessary. What Mary chose is a good portion. Jesus did not say serving was unnecessary. But Martha was distracted for Jesus. And Mary was devoted to Jesus. Help us not be distracted. Is it possible to work for Jesus and still neglect him? Is it possible to do work for Jesus and still neglect him? Holy Spirit, help us. Help us slow down and sit at your feet. Which is the good portion, the good thing that Mary has chosen. It is the one thing necessary. It is not influence. It is not success. It's not even ministry. It's not the things that we have before you. It is you, Jesus. What is it to gain the world and lose our soul? Moses knew. He said, Do not leave, do not lead us up from here. The only thing that distinguishes us from the world is your presence. It is the one thing necessary. In Psalms 27, 1 through 5, David wrote, The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, and whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up, eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear, though war rising against me, yet I will be confident. One thing have I asked of the Lord, is only one thing, is only one thing, and that is that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble, he will conceal me under the cover of his tent, he will lift me high upon a rock. David knew the Lord, even when he was surrounded and armies encamped around him. He did not ask for victory, he did not ask for rescue, he just asked for your presence and to gaze on the beauty of the Lord. He is God revealed, showing, showing us exactly what God is like. He is our Savior, rescuing us from sin. He is the King, worthy of surrender. He is the one thing necessary, treasure above all other treasures to all those who tuned in to our first Behodan night live gathering. Thank you all. This time has truly blessed me. And I hope you were touched by the Lord tonight that he encountered your heart. And even after this moment, that you would still take time to just sit and think of the Lord. And truly just Jesus. Simply. May we look to the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and see you rightly. Lord, we just want to see you rightly. To know you and to be known by you. Say we're doing all these things for you and miss you. And you say I never knew you, or you workers of iniquity. Lord, let us be prepared. Let us be ready. Even like the ten versions, Lord, allow us to have enough oil to be ready. Lord, in this time, there's such there's such an urgency to know you. There's such an urgency to see you, Lord. Lord, our families need you, our friends need you, Lord. Lord, and if you need anyone, Lord, we're here. I'm saying, Lord, send us. Send us, Lord, send us, Lord. We want to do your work. We want to know you, Lord. We want to be like Samuel. I say, Lord, here I am. Lord, use me. This is your servant. Lord, we want to be obedient. Lord, would you give us more awareness, Lord? Put the phone down, put the distractions down. Put all the things down that don't compare to you. Lord, we just want you. We just want you, Lord. Every burdened heart, Lord. Would you mend it? Would you be the healer that you are? But would you be the shepherd that you are and lead us? Besides the still waters, Lord, give our souls rest. That's what you said in Exodus 33. You said, My presence will go with you and give you rest. Give us rest, Lord. A rest that looks like we fully trust you. Not in ourselves. Lord, we bless this night. We thank you for what you've done. In sitting and looking at Jesus. We love you so much. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Amen. Um, thank you guys again for tuning in. Um everything you need is in Jesus. Until next time, you guys, be blessed. Be blessed.
