Nikky & Celeste are looking back on their very first episode of Seriously Just Girls and reflection on how life has changed in the last 6 months since turning 25. They share the lessons they've learned, what they're seeking in the rest of their 25th year, and how what they feared most really wasn't so bad. Most of all, they're incredibly grateful for the podcast growing alongside them and the community that they're creating. The Girls are so immensely grateful to all of their supporters.
Welcome back, guys. Hey everybody. Hey, hey. I've been listening to some new music. Her. Yeah. House music. Yeah. It's house music. I just feel like I need a I needed something different. And I'm like, what's one thing I haven't really given a chance? Okay. And that music I have not really given a chance. Is there someone that listens to house music that has inspired you? Yeah, my coworker. Lola. Lola. Oh yeah, she was like, Lola, you have to give it a chance. I want to be your friend too, girl. You seem so cool. She is. No, I love house music. Yeah, and she was like, you have to give it a chance, blah blah blah. And I was like, no, girl, that's overstimulating. But maybe I'm just in a different place right now because it doesn't. I remember before it would make me anxious. I'd be like, dang, my heart rate is going fast. Yeah, it's really funny. When me and Doom are together and we're listening to house music, we just go, close your eyes, and we pretend like we're in Vegas. It's like we're right there. Use your visuals. That's so funny. How are you? What's up? What's new? Uh honestly, I had a pretty crazy weekend. My godson was in the hospital. He really gave us a scare. But he's okay. Everything's fine. He's home and much better. Basically, what had happened is him and Gabby were knocked out in my room. Uh-huh. Him and Gabby were knocked out in my room, and he fell off the bed.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01And then Gabby woke up to him falling off the bed, so then she put him on the bed. And then she went to the kitchen. I was making soup for the kids because I was babysitting. And then whatever, she sits down in the living room with me, and then I can hear Christian crying. And I was like, I literally made a joke to Gabby, and I was like, why would you leave my son alone? And then I'm walking to my room, and Christian's still crying. His cries are getting louder, and he's coming towards me. And the moment I turn the corner, I just see him, and his whole lower face is full of blood, and he has a really bad bloody nose. So then it's no, but it's puddles of blood. I was genuinely so scared. And Nate was gonna come over and hang out at the house. So I started yelling. I was like, Gabby, get your butt over here. I need help. Because it was literally not kidding, puddles all the way across, like from my room in the hallway. And so I was like, call Nathan right now, just make sure tell him to come straight here. He needs to hurry. Because he was like, I could also notice that he was like kind of falling over in my arms and just like really passing out a little. So I was even more scared because he's only five. So then I was like, no, no, no, call Nate, I need Nate, hurry up. And then whatever, we're sitting down, and we're finally controlled, we've controlled the bleeding. He's not bleeding from his nose anymore, but his his eyes are like going in and out, and he's just like woozy. He can't really stand. So then we just took off to the hospital because we were like, no, this isn't normal. And then back in my room, there's like huge puddles of blood. And I was like, How the hell did this happen? I was so confused. And then the entire two days that he was there, the doctors just kept saying that he was like, it seemed like he was like on drugs or he was drunk. The doctors themselves were saying this. Yeah. So then we were really scared, and then that's like the behavior that he was giving. Like, yeah, that's the behavior. Okay, okay, okay. No, not that he was drunk. I was like, they were accusing you of that. No, no, no, no. They say that that's tip that's that is typical for a concussion. Concussion. But the amount of hours that it had been is why we were so worried and why the doctors were worried. Like he should have bounced back, like within probably 12 to 24 hours. Yeah, and he was not, he was still just like slurring his words, and like if you know Christian, you know that kid is just like me. He can talk, he actually speaks more than he talks more than me. Yeah, he talks like 80,000 words in a second. He's bad. So when he wasn't talking about that, we were like, what's going on? And yeah, he was just talking really slow and just really like laughing and like as if he were on like laughing gas or something. It was so weird, but his okay. And he got a CT skin, came back normal, came back, everything was good. Urine test, blood work, everything was good. Oh my gosh. So yeah, then we spent the next couple of days in the hospital, but he's home now. Oh my gosh, wait, he's so cute that we were in the room really quick. Let me just tell the story. He was so cute that we were in his room, and I was laying on his bed with him, and we had like a dinner table, whatever it is. You know what it what is it called? The side table. The side table, yeah. We had the side table, we were coloring, and then the nurses came in, and his nurse came in, and immediately he was like, I just got in there too. So we had just gotten quick to color in, and he's like, Oh, I'm just doing a challenge with my Nina, and we are just coloring, and I'm gonna win, but this is my favorite person ever. This is my Nina. Oh my gosh, I just love it. You were like, mm, purr. I'm gonna period at the end. Anyway, that is so cute. I'm so happy he's feeling better. Little kids are so scary. I know, they're so fragile, and you don't think they are, but they are. You're just like, oh my gosh. It's even harder because they're so young, so like they don't really tell you. Yeah, they don't know how to explain it, but thank God he's good. God is good all the time. That's crazy. My weekend was not that traumatic. How was your weekend? It was good. What'd you do? What did I do? Uh you were up in the world. I actually, yeah, I had a friend come in from out of town, and I don't know. I don't know if she liked it or not, but I'm like, you're coming in from out of town? We're gonna be booked and busy. I just want to be like that cool aunt, that cool friend that you visit on vacation. So on Saturday we went to, well, her whole trip, we went to Malibu, we went to Newport, we had we had some fun times in Orange County and LA County, and on Saturday we went shopping, and then I had to go to my co-worker's daughter's birthday party for a little bit, and then after that we watched the games, I saw Devil Wars Prada 2. If you guys understand what the movie's about, let me know. Because that movie was so confusing. I feel like we lost the plot. I was just like, wait, what? What happened? I don't I was really disappointed. We started watching it, but then I fell asleep. So we didn't finish watching it. Boring AF. Oh, that sucks because I really wanted to watch it, and so Mason bought it for me. Wait, you still should, and then let me know. Let me know, watch it. Okay. And then Sunday I had to take my friend back to LAX. Sushi was so sweet, and he drove us, and then me and him went out to eat breakfast, and we just spent the day together. It was really nice, cooked dinner together. Really so funny because we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat, but we don't want to eat out. He wanted pasta, I didn't really have an appetite, so then we settled. We went to the store that makes hot foods, like when we went to Whole Foods in New York, and I got soup, and then I got chicken nuggets, and then he got pasta and tuna with crackers. What a mix. We got some fun drinks. It was a mix, but it was actually so much fun. So we just got whatever we wanted. I love Whole Foods. That was so fun when we had it. That was so fun. We went to Barron's Barron's Market. There's a few in this area. It's just nice to not we didn't really have to cook. I mean, pasta is really easy to make. Yeah, those were those were the best chicken tenders I ever had, honestly. Maybe because we were starving too. They were pretty fire. That food was pretty fire. Yeah. So, anyways, that was my weekend. Fun. Yeah. We have fun plans this week. Yeah, I actually just came back from a frickin run. Run. No, I'm exhausted. I never want to do that again. And guess what? We have to do it again on Saturday because Haley wants to do a frickin' 5K for her birthday. She is just out of this world for real. She wants to do a 5K in July. She wants to do it. With people who aren't runners. Yeah. And we're gonna do it. Because we're good friends. But if she sees me turn around, have to be this way. But if she sees me turn around when she starts coming back, mind your business. I feel like you're not gonna be the only person doing that.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm really gonna try. Yeah. I'm gonna try too. I'm just not excited. Yeah, I feel like I did good today. We ran at half marathon together a year ago, and I have not ran since. So I was really surprised that I was able to keep up with that girl. No, you did great. I was in the back. I'm huffing and puffing at sometimes, but I was like, this is dangerous. It's too hot. It was so hot. And the sun was like right on us. We went at peak's sure that I got a little burnt. A little tan. I'm sure I did too. Hopefully. Yeah, hopefully. A little tan never hurt nobody. That reminds me I need to self-tan.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Haven't done that in a while. Me neither. I also need to put a coloring mask in my hair, but I'm gonna wait till after we go to have a six. Yeah, because then there's no point, right? Let's get down to business. Okay. Alright.
SPEAKER_00What business are you talking about?
SPEAKER_01The business of being 25. We're in the business of mid-20s. How do you feel now? I feel good. I feel like I've always felt good about it. I did not. I now I feel good. Well, I feel good most of the time. You know what I mean? I have my moments where I'm like, damn, I'm grown, but I'm not growing right now. You feel like that? Yeah. I do feel a little stagnant. Okay, not in every aspect of my life. I feel like my friendships are growing, my relationships growing. I feel like my boundaries are growing. Me as a person is growing, but me as a person in society, I don't feel like I've really grown. I'm still just working and traveling, and that's it. Which is not a bad thing. I just wish that I was like further along in my career. That's all. You're not the only one though. I know you feel better. There's a gazillion other people who feel that way. Yeah, I know. But there is no but. That's it. That's just it. How are you feeling? I feel like I still drive telling people that I'm 25. Like when somebody asks me, I'm like, oh fuck. I'm 25. Never ask a woman her age. Right. No, like when I'm I feel like I've been going to the doctors a lot this year. Okay. And when I have to like, when they confirm my age, I'm like 25.
unknown25, 25.
SPEAKER_01I'm like the girl from Fitchburne. 25.
unknownAnd I just like to enter 20. Don't talk to me.
SPEAKER_01That's so funny. Why? Why do you think that is? I think I'm just supposed to be, I think I'm 21 at heart. Me too. I don't think I'm meant to be 25. I don't think I'm meant to be older than 22. No, it is so crazy to me because I work with people that are younger and we were watching Love Island, and I'm like, why are they making those choices? That is crazy. And then I'm like, dang, at 21, I really wasn't the brightest either. Like I was making some choices that were questionable too. Yeah. And that was like four years ago. Four years ago. Wow. That hurt. I think when I think about it too, I'm like, oh, that was like that's forever ago. Mm-hmm. I don't know. It's fine now. I think it's really far away though, too. Yeah, that's right. I don't feel like it's right around the corner. I think I don't. It's not. Don't even say. No, that's my biggest fear. I'm just kidding. I think 30 is gonna be so much fun, but for now, I don't want to get to that. Just because I think the thing with me too is the more I think about getting older, the more I think about everyone else getting older, like my parents, you know. Okay, wait to bring the vibe down. Don't you think that late? No, my parents are gonna live forever. I hope that your parents live forever, too. No, it is really scary. I don't know what I would do without my parents. It's really scary to see like my dad's just not as tough as he once was. Yeah. Or durable. You'd be breaking. Ricardo, just stay away from this episode. He needs to get a service check or something. And my mom is very young at heart. My mom is too. So I don't really see her getting any older. Well, sometimes like she can't read something, you know, because her vision's not as great. And I'm like, damn, that's pretty big. Who was I? Oh, I was at work and I was with a patient, and the patient was like, wait, I can't see this. Oh, so you're old. And then he kept he kept saying, Dang, this really sucks. It's getting an old thing. And I was like, don't tell me, man. I do feel like my vision's gotten worse this year. Oh. Mm-hmm. And I put my glasses on. I also went a couple months. It's not good enough. Yeah, it's not good enough. It's not working like I used to. I went a couple months without wearing my glasses because I lost them. So maybe that's why. Right. No, I'm totally aware that it was my own fault. But point is that I yeah, I definitely don't wear my glasses as much as I should. You should wear but I definitely wear them at work. Yeah, I don't really wear them at work because I'm on a computer most of the time. So I don't really Well, that's when you should be wearing them. Are you nearsighted or far-sighted? I'm just kind of blind in my left eye. Doesn't really matter. Oh, my left eye just doesn't really work. But I'm just saying because of the blue lights and stuff like that, like that's not good for our eyes. It's weakening our eyes. Yeah, I just hate wearing my glasses. Maybe you need new glasses that you like wearing. Do you like wearing yours? Oh. So sorry. Yeah. I woke up really early. I had a car. I had a car. Yeah, basically, I do love being 25, though. I feel this year has just been so much fun. I feel like I have learned so much about myself. I had just been everywhere this year. I've been on the move. I just feel better. Mm-hmm. What would you tell yourself? Celeste on her 25th birthday. What would you tell her? Oh, get medicated. So that's crazy. Just kidding. Just kidding. I think I would tell her to drop the man that she's dating. Ooh. And to also just be so happy with yourself. Yeah. I think back to my birthday, and I love my birthday specifically, not just because it's so much fun to have your birthday, but because I'm always around, I'm always surrounded by all my favorite people. So you really just have to remember that all these great people are there for you and they're so excited to celebrate you, and life just continues. Life and also not get sidetracked. Oh. Yeah, I feel like I'd struggled a lot with that too. In the beginning with school, sometimes I'd be like, eh, I'll get it done eventually. Oh, not procrastinate. Yeah. That's a really good trait to not have. I don't know how to have that trait. Yeah, I've been trying to work on that too. What about you? What's something you would tell yourself? Younger you. Hey you. It's younger you. Wait, side story. When we watched that Hannah Montana video, sobbing. We all sobbed. We really did. That that really hit. Yeah. I'm really glad I saw it with you guys. Yeah. One thing I would tell myself on my 25th birthday was was or is. Is that it just keeps on getting better. Things just get more and more fun. I think the number one thing that I feel that is different is that I just do not give up a fuck. A I don't. A turn up. If I wanna dance, I'm gonna dance. If I wanna sing, I'm gonna sing. If I wanna talk to someone, I'm gonna talk to someone. I'm not shy like I was. Because I just feel like we're grown. Who cares? I feel like I just have a lot more confidence in myself, like my personality. Which is so crazy because if you remember in the beginning, you wanted to work on your self-esteem. That was something big for you. Yeah, yeah. It's beautiful. I feel like every day I'm working on it still, you know, it's not easy. But I yeah, I feel like my self-esteem has gotten a lot better since my 25th birthday, and I hope it just continues to get better, and I just keep on loving and loving and loving myself. But yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you will.
SPEAKER_01It's post-run, girl. We are yawning, but it is post-run. Freaking Hayley, man. The adrenaline is going away, and the sun, the sun beat us down. But yeah, I think I would just keep saying life is just gonna get more fun. I've been going on trips, I've just been like, I don't know, just living life. I feel like I'm really living my best life. Yeah, and I feel like it can only get better. Yeah, which is a good feeling. I agree. I was with my friends last night and we were talking, and Jordy was like, one of my friends, Geordie, he was like, I just feel every year just always gets better. I always think back and I was like and think. I always think back and say that was the best year of my life. And I was like, you know, Geordie, I feel the same way. And I was like, except this last year, maybe not that, a little portion of that. But I genuinely feel like every year it gets better. And I was like, wow. Sometimes bad things need to happen for you to really grow though, and move on to the next part of your life. Yeah, and also one bad experience doesn't make for a bad year. Oh I feel like I still live the best during that time. What did we do? We literally went to everywhere. Yeah, everywhere. I went to Texas with my cousin, I went to New York with my friends, I went to I feel like I did more. You went to Mexico a few times too. I went to Mexico so many times, yeah. I just And you were just going out a lot, not even just to the bars, but just to dinner, to get a little drinky drink, to go to the beach.
SPEAKER_00Like, I was just out. And we just continue doing stuff like that.
SPEAKER_01Like, I don't want to not live my life. I'm not getting tied down. Oh. Sushi could come with me. He's young too. We don't have kids. We don't have to go as hard.
SPEAKER_00I don't have kids. I don't have to go as hard. I don't have to go as hard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, pretty much. That's me. Do you feel like there's something that you were putting a lot of pressure on at 20 that first because it it's not just your birthday turning 25. We have been talking about turning 25 for weeks or months before turning 25. Is there something that I feel that you feel like you were putting a lot of pressure on yourself about that maybe now you're like, it's not that deep? I think school and being married. Okay. Getting married. Okay. School and getting married. Alright. Yeah. Now I'm like, it's okay. It's okay that I'm not married. But yeah, I feel like there was just so much pressure on that. I think I all of 24 I had been like, oh, I'm gonna be 20. I'm about to be 25. Like 24 is just pre-25. Because you just think we're just pre-gaming 25. Because 25 just feels like your midlife. Very daunting. It's your it's your quarter life crisis type of thing. I feel like I've always thought it out to be like that. Like a negative. Kind of, not a negative, but like you just you just think that you're always gonna have it figured out by then. And so I feel like I just thought I was gonna have it figured out by then and I didn't, which totally made me sad. But I'm fine now. But I had a lot of pressure on that aspect and then the school aspect. Now I'm totally okay with the fact that I'm still working towards my goals and that one day I will be married, just not now.
unknownHmm.
SPEAKER_01Unless. Just kidding. No, all of last year's Celeste is like, guys, next year I'm gonna be married with a baby. We're like, okay, now she's actually guys. I do feel like when you start having fun in a relationship, though, you don't need the other things to like, yeah, you know, you're just so good right now. Like because nothing needs to change right now. I feel like what it was is you obviously don't have that relationship, you don't have that partner, so then you're just like, what's the new month? Yeah, a baby, a ring, a child, diamonds, but now I'm okay. Yeah, I guess I can wait a little bit, but I definitely that was that's really funny. I wish I felt like that. I feel like the same pressures I had then I still have. Really? Yeah. Why do you think? I feel like I my biggest pressure. We're school and sound so shallow, but I just want to make a lot of money. And that's okay. I also want to make a lot of money. I just want a dream home. I want to be able to just treat everyone to things, especially my family. I don't know. I just feel like if I was in the career that I was in, I would have so many other things that I want. And I feel like I can't have those other things because I don't, I'm not making what I would be making if I was in my dream career. And I also don't feel like I'm taking any steps. Like I'm not any closer than I was six months ago. So make yourself closer. I know. And I'm working on it, but I'm like, I don't know. I'm also in a point in my life where I'm like, when something just keeps on not working out, for whatever reason, I'm like, is it not for me?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Really? Because I feel like if it were something else, like if it were a relationship that just kept on not working out, everyone would be like, let it go, change it. But because it's like a career and it's school, it's a lot of money to do the program that I want to do. It's maybe it's not for me. Maybe I'm meant to be I don't know. That's my thing too. I've been so tunnel visioned on one thing. Nothing else sounds fun. I'm like, nothing else sounds like something I would want to do for 20 years. So I don't know. That's where I'm at right now. So maybe you need to experience other things. Maybe we need to get new jobs and experience other aspects of said career. Maybe that just doesn't sound fun. So then if you don't feel I don't think it's bad to be tunnel vision with a career, I think it means you're motivated and driven. You know how many people don't you know how many people fail classes like back to back to back and can't get past freaking physiology and cannot pass it. Takes them seven times and then one day they just randomly pass because they just keep going. Because they want it that bad. Yeah. So if you want it that bad, you want it that bad. Yeah. No, this is not the energy I was expecting from you. Okay. I'm so sorry. You are better than this. No, but you usually am a lot more positive. I'm just tired. I know, I know. I feel like you're just you're overwhelmed with it. Yeah. And that's okay. Yeah. It really is okay, and I'm glad that you're talking about it because there's probably so many other people that feel that way. Yeah, I know. I'm just damn. No, I think it's gonna work out. I think there's just different things that need to happen in order for it to work out. For sure. And if if it's not meant for you, I think God would instill something in you already. That's what I'm saying. I'm like, okay, I'm 25. Like, if I was meant for something else, I feel like something else would be introduced into my life to some degree at this point. I've been like thinking, unless I'm gonna be someone's personal shopper, I don't really have any other hobbies. Like and I don't want to shop for nobody else. I want to shop for me. Yeah. I wish I was interested in something that I didn't need to get a special program for. I wish I didn't. It's like lawyers have to go to law school, doctors have to go to med school, teachers have to get their masters. I wish I didn't have to do an extra. I wish whatever I wanted to do, I could do it with a bachelor's or less. But I don't. But I think that's because what you want to do is very important. And unfortunately, not just anybody can go into that field. Yeah. Yeah, I know. So I apparently neither can I. And this is why I can never take Chris seriously. I think you just gotta keep working towards it. Things will unfold the way that they need to unfold. This is true. And you just need to be yourself, and you need to keep being disciplined, motivated, and driven. Okay. Which you are. No, you are disciplined, you are motivated, and you are very driven. Yeah, and that's totally fine. So you just need to surround yourself with people who are gonna uplift you and make sure that you and I do have people like that. No one's been like, yeah, just find something else. Thank you. Literally, no one's told me that. Thank God. Because I'd be like, like what? Maybe I could be um, I don't know, hopefully, like a super successful podcaster. Please. No, that's actually my biggest life goal. Hmm. No, guys, I'm gonna be really honest. That's one thing that I really want to focus on within the next year or two. Like, yeah, she's really locking in. I really want us to take this to the next level. And even again, even if it is just for us, that's fine. But at least we know that we put in a hundred percent into our own podcast, our own project. We really want to perfect our craft and just make it better and better. Oh, and if that takes us to the moon, then that takes us to the moon. And if it doesn't take us to the moon, then you guys are all haters. Sounds right on our own vlog. We're funny. No, we were at Haley's mom's today, and Haley's mom was telling us that she was giggling at one of our podcasts, and I was like, no way. You're like, which one? What did you think? Any notes?
SPEAKER_00Tell me about that.
SPEAKER_01What was your favorite part? Can you tell who's who? No, for real. That's crazy. You guys should know us by now. No, sir. I don't want to get any more comments like we sound very similar. My cousin Edna was like, I think so. She was like, I want to meet your co-host. And I was like, Oh, let me bring her to you. And dragged me over. First thing she said was, I can never tell who's who. And I'm like, Edna, what do you mean? You're my cousin. That's crazy. And her defense, she doesn't see me that often, but she lives in Long Beach. Oh, well, you should go see her. Yeah, she lives in Long Beach. I told her, Oh my gosh, no, because she's cool. Wait, she really's cool, very technically. A little, a little side note, really quick. She was like, next time you're in Long Beach, just come and hang out at the house. And I was like, you bet I will. Oh, I will go to Long Beach just hang out with you because her girls are really cool too, and my nieces really like them too. So I was like, well, just all come over, hang out with Edna and have a grand old time. So I think you should. I'll go too. I know, yeah. I know Edna listens, so just invite me if you please, please. If wait, what? Give us a hint. Invite me if you could. Send me a text right now. You have my number. Ask me what has surprised you the most about being 25. Okay. What has surprised you most about being 25? I said this earlier, just that I'm I know I sound down in this episode. Okay, I don't really know what's going on with me today. But it was after the run. I'm just seated. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay, continue, sorry. But I feel like I am a lot more confident in just myself as a person that I'm just like, okay, whatever. I can just go. I just feel like I've been very good about making my own decisions lately. Or I'm just trying to be better about it. If I want to change up my hair, if I want to stop being friends with someone, if I want to stop doing something or whatever, I'm just like, yeah, that's what I want to do. If I want to hang out with someone more, yeah, that's what I'm gonna do. If I want to put myself out there, like I feel like I'm making friends at work and they're becoming outside friends, and that's just something that I really wouldn't have done before to the healthy extent that I am, because I don't feel like I'm like, oh, this is my whole life story. Yeah. I'm just like, oh hey, we have a few things in common. Let's hang out. Some of my coworkers they have children, and so when I went to that kid's birthday party, one of the girls, Tyler, was like, Wow, I'm surprised that you came to the little kid's birthday party. And I was like, Tyler, I can have fun anywhere, okay? They are all gonna be my friends by the end of the day. And that's just something I wouldn't have done probably done before. Show up to a birthday party by myself where I only knew one or two people, and I'm just like, Yellow. So that's been that has surprised me the most where I have felt that people talk like your brain's gonna develop more or whatever, and you're just gonna be more clear-minded, and that's how I feel. I feel a lot more clear-minded where I'm just like things are a little bit more black and white, I think, right now. You left me speechless. Is that a slay? Yeah, I think that's really cool. Yeah, I think it's really cool that you because honestly, yeah, I've always known you to I've always known you to. I feel like I always had a butt at the end of things. Yeah, I hate to say it, but you did. Yeah. We gotta get a body, and we gotta get a video. She goes. I hate to say it, but you did. Okay, Miss Girl. I did. I feel like I added a butt to everything. I'd be like, I would list every reason why this person was terrible, and I'd be like, but they're greedy into them. They're deep down, they're down like deep, deep, deep down. I know they care. And now I'm just kind of like, no. If you're really not about your actions, like I don't I'd also just love to see you making new friends. Thanks. You have really influenced me in that way. I think I've told you that before. I feel like you've made me friendlier and just some more more myself, honestly, because I feel like I've always been bubbly too. And you're just like, yeah, you are so bubbly. Um, yeah, I think I love, I think I just last night we were on FaceTime and Nikki was like, Oh, me and my friend at work, blah, blah, blah. And I was like, Gym. No, I had said before you told me that, I was like, I hope you guys become outside friends. And you were like, Well, I'm going to the gym with her tonight. And I was like, Oh. And old me would have been like, well, make sure she knows that you're best friends. Me and Hayley. And one of us not invite one of the ones that want to send me went to the gym with me. That's the old one. You've never been in the gym with me. That's the old me. I'm different now. Because you're 25. You're growing. What has surprised you the most about being 25? How FOMO has kind of changed for me. Oh, I am totally okay with not being at everything now. Do I still want to be at everything? Thank you, Lexi. Do I still want to be at everything? Yes. Will I still try to be at everything? Yes. But I think I'm at a different point in life where I'm like, okay, if I don't get to go, that's okay. If I don't get to be there, that's okay. If something else comes up and I'm unable to go, that's okay. Because I feel like that too would stress me out a lot. Like, especially You were like stretching yourself thin. Yes. And one thing about my family is they just require a lot. Which is why I'm I love them so much. Specifically my parents. But sometimes I just need you need to do you. Yeah. You gotta put you first. I gotta put me first. I gotta put me first. But that's really hard too because I love my parents and they do so much for me. Like I just have to make myself available to them whenever they need me. So yeah. Okay. I love that. Thank you. Yeah. Because I do feel like you have put in a lot of effort to just, I need a chill today. So I'm just gonna chill today. And if that means I miss something, then I miss something. Because there's gonna be another thing. There's not that's the great thing about our friendship, is if we can't make it to one thing, it's not like oh, I'm never gonna invite her again. Yeah because she chose to do laundry over a hangout with me. And it's you shouldn't be friends with people like that too. I agree. You should be able to get to a point in a friendship where you're just like, oh, I I can change my mind, and it's okay. I think also too, I'm very close to my family. And I think this year we've gotten closer. I've gotten closer to my nieces, I've gotten closer to I've always known you'd be close to your family. But I think it's gotten better, healthier, healthier, yeah. Do you feel like you're harder or easier on yourself six months in? That's a good question. I feel like I'm for sure harder on myself. Because I'm like, okay, we I just feel like I had certain goals before I turned 26 that I just know are not realistic anymore. Which is fine. I just need to make new goals. You know? I need to make new goals that feel just as important. And I will. I just gotta think this through. Everything always works out. I feel like you've been nicer to yourself, easier on yourself. I think I have too. I think I'm just very I'm a lot more in this place of what's meant for me is gonna be for me. I love that. And I just if I want it, I have to go get it. It's not gonna come to me. I feel like I still want things very quickly. Oh, same. But I really have to understand that that's not how things work. What happened? I'm just reading. Is there anything that's been like anything big that's happened in the last six months? Being 25. I feel like we talked about like how bad last year was, but I feel like this year's been looking better. Yeah, I mean, no, this year has been so much fun. It has been so much fun. Did we find anything? Okay, like love. Yeah, honestly, I think we did. So it's been fun. That's all I have to say. I love it. Quiet, private. Not just getting no, no, same. I'm actually the most interest. Oh, I I feel like I'm more open now, but obviously privacy is still important. But I guess I could just talk from my perspective about this then. Yeah. I feel like these past six months, it's been a little testy for my relationship. I'm not gonna lie, because my brain's been developing and I've been taking accountability and stuff, realizing that I'm not perfect, and it's been really hard for me, but it's been good for my relationship. And I feel like Celeste can relate to that too, where it's like things can get better with growing up and just having a new sense of thinking. I I think we have shifted our viewpoints and our perspective a lot on relationships and love. We've both been through it romantically, and so I feel like we're both just we're good. So I feel like that's been really nice. And I don't know if that has anything to do with turning 25. It probably is not related. I don't know. But I feel like this season's been really good for all of us. I it's I love that we're all just in love and Hailey and me and you, and I really agree with you. I think there was a time where we were all in that position. This isn't the first time we've been in this position.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_01Maybe not in the relationship that I should have been in. And neither were you. So I don't know about that, Batty. Not in love, but you know, I think we thought we were. For sure. And it was so it's always nice when either all of your friends are single or all of your friends are in a relationship because it's just life your lifestyles just align better, I think. So I think we have been in different seasons where we also have the same lifestyle, but it's been real fun. Cause everything's just like yeah, I just like we get each other. I think that's definitely been one of the biggest plot twists for me. I feel like I wasn't expecting to meet somebody. And I really like them. Mm-hmm. Shoot, I love him. Shoot, I love the man. These next six months, what are we gonna change? I want to really, really focus on being a lot more driven. I feel like I have a lot of drive and I'm very motivated. Executing. But I yeah, I need to just get things done, go for it, because I have so many ideas, so many plans, and sometimes I think it might have to do with ADHD or something because sometimes I'm like, ooh. Sometimes, no, I don't know what I was thinking. My dad sent me a text and threw me off. Sometimes I think I get so overwhelmed that I'm like, oh, I just don't want to do anything. And I used to feel a lot like that when I had like bad depression, you know, like I didn't feel good, and so I don't want to feel like that ever. And sometimes I do feel like I feel like that lately, where I'm just like, Oh, I have so much to do and I don't want to get it done or else to do, and I have no energy to do it. And I know that has to do a lot with like my body, because I know that that's why I've been taking like my doctor's appointments really serious lately, and like I was really low on vitamin D and you know, a little shit like that, because I had no energy. All that matters, I was anemic. I still am anemic, so it was just like all these things that were playing a big part in how I was feeling, and so I've been taking like the right medications and good vitamins because I just want to feel better about myself so that I can do all these things that I want to do so badly because there are so many people that have like amazing drive, amazing motivation, want to do it all, you know. I just need to get on that, so that's what's gonna change for me, and I just hope to be living better than I am now. I know I love my life, but I want to make big changes within these next six months. Yeah, I feel like in these next six months, I just want to be like very sexy. Me too. Like, I'll need to be in the gym, I need to be eating. That's when you were talking about self-discipline, like I was like, I wonder what she's talking about because I feel the same way, but like about myself and about like me myself too. Like, I feel like on a different note, like I have gained so much weight, and it's not a bad thing. Everybody tells me I look a lot healthier than what I look like when I was like weighing 115 pounds. So I want to get not that I feel ugly, but I want to just get in shape. Yeah, I want to be in better shape too. I want a sick physique. Yeah, I don't want to be huffing and puffing on a run. Because that's crazy. I gotta get the stamina up. But yeah, that's pretty much what I want to change in the next six months. I mean, it would be nice to figure out the other stuff too, but but you will. I feel like being disciplined and dedicating myself to literally myself and my body for six months is something that is completely attainable. And there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to. Yeah. Therefore, that is my goal because I'm like no one like with school, there are so many boxes that need to be checked. Your loan has to be checked, your requirements have to be checked, your literally your FAFSA, you're this, you're that, like your paperwork. There is so your doctor's appointments for this program, there are so many boxes that need to be checked, and so many things out of my control. That's the biggest thing. So I just want to have a goal that's that is completely like in my control, and the only person that can check those boxes is me. I don't need anyone else to do anything else. Therefore, that is my one and only goal. And if other things work out, then other things work out. But that's that's what I'm gonna set for myself. And this is a good start. Yeah, so my next birthday, I'm gonna be naked in Vegas. Then I will join you. I can't wait. So, six months in to turning 25. We just wanted to give you guys an update. Yeah, it's not so scary, and I felt I feel a little down. It's not so bad, but I've been like, it's fucking it sucks, nothing's working out for me. But so many things have worked out for me, and that's what I need to remember. So I have made the most amaz some of my favorite memories have been made just in this lot these last six months, and I feel very blessed to have been able to see different parts of the world like I have already just this year. Therefore, let me stop complaining, let me be appreciative of everything else that has worked out for me and will continue to work out for me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I would rate these first six months of turning 25 7.7 out of 10. Okay. Well, I would rate the first two months, the first month of turning 25, I would rate that a one. There was no leg in it. One out of twenty. The bar was low. But I feel like after February, I think I started to feel really good. Yeah. I would have rated like a good eight. Mm-hmm. Yeah. I feel like everything's just been going the way it needs to go. I've even though I say I need to be more motivated about things, I feel like I have been really motivated about things. So and you will just continue to be more. Yeah, I just want to increase that. But and I would like to preface that you're not always like this. You're just having a weird day. Yeah, I'm off today. Yeah, because you're usually not like this, I'll be honest. And she's very positive about life. Sometimes I feel like I've been there. You can have a bad day, yeah. Yeah. So nobody take her, take her too personal. Don't take seriously out there. Don't take me too seriously now. Not the time. Wrong podcast. Just kidding. But yeah, I feel like I'm really excited for these next six months too. And I'm really excited for my birthday to come up, even though there's so many other birthdays that we gotta get through, and there's a lot. But we have lots of trips, lots of stuff to do with our friends and family, and I'm just gonna be able to do that. So many things to look forward to. Yeah. And with our loved ones, and as long as we continue to be I think as long as I just continue to surround myself with the people that I'm surrounded by, I'm gonna be just fine. Wow. That is so weird. Aww. So cute. Boom. That's bad. What are you so seriously serious about? No, hold on. It's my turn to ask you. Oh, I don't know what I'm serious about, though. You already asked me. Hold on. You're so funny. Do you want to ask me? Um, when you're ready. Alright, alright. What are you so seriously serious about? Wait, you know the amount of times that someone will throw that in my face and I'm like, well not throw it in my face, but they'll be like, seriously serious? And I'm like, oh my god, stop. I'm shy. Oh, really? Not shy. I'm like, yeah. That's me. You get to the end of the podcast. For real. What am I so seriously serious about? Lately it's been my dog. Oh, okay. Yeah, I'm just really trying to keep up with her g it's. I love her so much. She is really just a part of me. I remember it felt like yesterday that I gave birth to her, you know? I love her so much. But she is still an animal. And I don't forget that. And she is a dog, and she puts her mouth in everything and her body on everything, and she walks outside all day, every day. And so it just feels like sometimes she's a little dirty, and sometimes she's a little too dirty for my dromophobeness. So I just kind of keep her at a distance sometimes, which is not nice. I like don't cuddle her as much. She's really dirty. But I've been keeping up with our grooming, and I feel like it's made our connection closer. And she has just let me wash her whenever I need to wash her, and she doesn't fight it. She just sits there and she just looks at me. Yeah. And then when she's all dry, we cuddle. Literally, I will cuddle her on her bed. She's not allowed on our couches. My parents won't let her. But yeah, ever since 4th of July, we've really, really, really bonded. She literally, she is not a cuddler. She is not a dog that will just she's not a lap dog, right? She's huge, but also it's just not in her nature. She's too hyper. But on 4th of July, she was literally just on my lap, just laying on me, and I was just holding her, and I was like, it's gonna be okay, girl. That's really sweet. Yeah, so I'm seriously serious about her, and just I want to order her clothes and just accessories, and just I just want her to feel like a girl. I want her to feel like she's my sister or something. She went from my daughter to my sister. Which one is it? She's family. I wish there was a general term. I guess it's called a pet, but I just feel like that's not big enough. She's more than that to me. That's beautiful. I think we should take our dogs on a play date. I think they'd get along well. Yeah, I just want the thing is I want to take her everywhere. I used to be like that to do that. I know. I got Charlie. I'm so serious about it. I got her a dog crate, like a crate that fits perfectly in my car so the fur doesn't get everywhere. And just so she's safe and stuff. And my man, I'm like, I gotta start bringing my dog over here if I'm gonna be coming over here a lot. And he was like, Send me the link. Let's order her a crate and some bowls. I'm like, thank you. I really appreciate it. So he's also seriously serious about that, as he should be. Period. So yeah, that's what I'm serious about. Love you, love you, Charlie, if you're listening. Actually, I'm listening to you right now. Yeah, I've been listening to you all day. I'm ready to go outside and play. What about you? What are you so seriously serious about? You are so off today because I already answered it. No, I didn't. Wait, hold on. Sorry about that. I don't really know what's wrong with me today either. Okay. What are you so seriously serious about today? I need to go home and find my aura ring charger.
SPEAKER_00Oh no.
SPEAKER_01She has been dead for the week now. Do I still wear her? Yeah. You kill me. The second it's dead, I'm like, thank God. Take it off. No, I have been free from the shack. I hadn't been wearing her, but I went out to I went to a baby shower on Sunday. They gotta know your fit. And so I was like, let me put this on real quick. No, it was so funny, Mason. I don't know about my health. We went to go eat breakfast. And he was like, you need to find your ordering charger. And then he just went on Amazon and he was like, look, I found this for you. And I was like, no, no, no, don't order it. It's expensive. I don't even want to order it because I know it's somewhere in my house. I just need to find it. Yeah. So I was like, no, I can't order it. You can't order it. No, no, no, no, no. I need to find this charger. I need to find it. It has to be the the thing about me is that I go everywhere. And sometimes I'll be not home for a couple days and I'll know that my ring is dying, and I don't like when it dies. So I'll toss the charger into one of my bags. But the thing is, I travel with seven gazillion bags. So then I don't know which one it's in. This is so true, and this is not just this ring charger. There has been so many things that we need. Or like like when we were traveling, the fucking passport. So let's what bag is in it? What bag is it in? Celeste, what bag is it in? This one, this one. Then I open it, it's not in there, and I'd be like, oh. No, you've been like looking for stuff too, like the mics. Your glasses, you're like, apparently I haven't been to the gym in a long time because it was in my gym bag. It's been gone for three months. No, I'm really bad. Yeah. I have lip glosses, like lip glosses that I missed and I loved in my gym bag. I just forgot where you're. You buy a new one, you're like, oh, this is where it was. Yeah, so I just need to go home and empty out all my bags and go from there. And yeah, some people have a bag compartment that they just switch over. Well, that too, but I've heard that people have baskets and they just dump their purse in the basket. I need to do that. And then whenever you're gonna go for the day, you're like, oh, what do I really need today? I've been trying to do that because I've been carrying too many things in my bag. Yeah. I'm like, damn, this is heavy. You don't need all that. Yeah, I really don't need all this. Do I really need six lip liners? No. Three is enough. Yeah. My AirPods were in another bag and I finally found them. But I found them. Yeah, maybe we just need to go through these bags. Yeah, which is two. I'm gonna do not today because Mason and I are taking the kids to watch Toy Story. But tomorrow, I will. Okay, cute, cute, cute. I love that. I love you. We I love you too. We got a lot of things we're serious about lately. Yeah, so much. And a lot of things we're gonna get done. So just be patient with us. Just be patient, bear with us. You could watch that episode too. Bear with us. Okay, love you guys. Love you. Bye. Bye.
