Zooks! We may have unknowingly unleashed a Pharaoh's curse upon us as this week we watch the episode "Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too". How much did it cost to get three hamburgers and three liverwurst and ice cream sandwiches? Who continues to baffle us with their response to monsters and ghosts? How many Scooby Snacks are consumed in this episode alone? And just how ridiculous does Shaggy and Scooby get this week? All this and more await inside the Scooby Zone.

SPEAKER_01

Hello and welcome to the Scooby Zone, the podcast where we would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those blasted kids.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

We watch a bit of Scooby-Doo Media. I'm Rob. And I'm Katie. And today we'll be watching Scooby-Doo and A Mummy 2, episode 12 of Scooby-Doo Where Are You?

SPEAKER_00

Man, we're we're getting we're getting up there, guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we're just about done with season one. Oh, I know. We are just a little shy of halfway through. Pretty much. I think like tech if you want to get super technical. Just super technical. I think when we hit like the point next week when we break to go watch the episode, we'll be halfway done with the season.

SPEAKER_00

Oh of the series. I can't believe we're getting there already. You know, it seems so long since we long ago that we started this, and now it's like we're finally almost getting done with the series. I'm like, I don't. This is a good series that you don't want to be done with it so fast. But yeah, there's only 25 episodes.

SPEAKER_01

You know, but think of all the more fun series will also come too.

SPEAKER_00

Right? We have a lot of them coming up.

SPEAKER_01

The Scooby-Doo show.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. A pup named Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

What's new, Scooby-Doo?

SPEAKER_00

What's new, Scooby-Doo? And then we have the movie movies after that, and in between that as well. And then all of our holiday specials that we'll be getting into as well for certain ones. You know, it's like a lot to look forward to. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

All the fun Scooby-Doo guest appearances that we decided we will cover.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

We have since decided we will not cover everything the internet all lists as Scooby-Doo crossovers. Yeah, definitely. Because there's a lot listed, most of which are either just like quick couple second cameos or serve no real purpose of anything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Or they are listed as sketches on robot chicken, which are all over the place.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're definitely all over the place. You can never find it.

SPEAKER_01

Which are not exactly kid appropriate.

SPEAKER_00

No, they definitely are not kid appropriate.

SPEAKER_01

I want to try to keep this as kid friendly as possible. As possible.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

Sometimes that's not gonna work.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not always gonna work, but we'll do our best.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So I think for sure the ones the ones we know 100% we will cover is Scooby Natural.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yes, that'll be coming up soon, guys. We'll definitely be doing that one very soon.

SPEAKER_01

The Johnny Bravo episode with Scooby-Doo. Oh, yes, definitely. That is essentially almost a Scooby-Doo episode.

SPEAKER_00

It essentially is, yes, I agree.

SPEAKER_01

The Scooby-Doo related episode of the adult swim cartoon, Harvey Bird Man attorney.

SPEAKER_00

That was a trippy episode, man. That was hilarious. It was such a perfect episode.

SPEAKER_01

And honestly, in terms of like adult swim shows, I think that at the end of the day, at least in our breakdown synopsis, we can turn that kid friendly.

SPEAKER_00

We definitely can make it kid friendly.

SPEAKER_01

Not exactly 100% kid friendly. But you know, it's a lot better than some other things.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it definitely is a lot better. So definitely on that one.

SPEAKER_01

But that's a bit of a ways away.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely, yeah. Not anytime soon.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Um well, depending on how we decide to lay things out.

SPEAKER_00

That is true. That is true. I'm hoping too.

SPEAKER_01

I know we've roughly sketched out a somewhat roadmap of our of what we'll be doing. Right. And when how much of that we're actually sticking to at this point is kind of up in the air? Out the window.

SPEAKER_00

I was like up in the air, you're saying out the window. Oh, okay. I mean.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, like, right now for sure, we're consistently doing like every episode of Where Are You?

SPEAKER_00

Right, every episode, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

But like, you know, after we hit the wax phantom episode, like, yeah, you know, are we gonna jump straight into the new Scooby movies? We could. But and show all of our listings and all of our but that's at least, you know, 13 weeks away.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's we got a while, we got a little bit of time yet, guys. Yeah. Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_01

But not a lot.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, not a lot, but it's a decent amount of.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it feels like it's a lot on paper.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But on paper, that's only like what roughly three months.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and then as we get older, that time just flies by. But you don't want to hear us ramble about logistics and whatnot. You want to hear us ramble about Scooby.

SPEAKER_00

That's what the podcast is about. So that's what you guys want to hear.

SPEAKER_01

This great big lovable great Dane. Yeah. Yep, definitely lovable.

SPEAKER_00

And his friends and friends and family? Yes. Many friends and family. I definitely consider that too. Yep, definitely. His best pal.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. No fun guests on the podcast this week.

SPEAKER_00

No, we'll have have one coming up soon.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, forgot to mention last week that you know you guys you can always email us at the ScoobyZone Podcast at gmail.com. Oh, yeah, we definitely didn't mention the podcast information, but you know, it goes to You know, you know, if you're listening to us on either Apple or Spotify, go ahead and leave us a review, a rating, you know, stuff that'll help either bring us attention or hopefully bring us attention. I Right.

SPEAKER_00

Hopefully it's something we're doing or not doing that you want us to start doing or you know.

SPEAKER_01

You know, we would love to we would love for you to just blindly give us positive reviews. We would love that, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Positive reviews of what we're here for.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, we are also open to some constructive criticism, you know. Some, but you know, you know, that stuff that'll help us improve the podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

And if you're listening to us on YouTube, you know, if you're not subscribed, you can go ahead and subscribe.

SPEAKER_00

Subscribe, give us a like, give us a comment. Yeah, we definitely appreciate that. We'll look into that too, but we definitely appreciate that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. You know, we would love to get some more engagement from you guys. You know, give us your thoughts on how you want us to handle Scooby-Doo's All-Star Laugh Olympics.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that'll be an all that'll be an interesting one.

SPEAKER_01

Do you want us to cover all 24 episodes separately, or just do kind of a big broad episode on you know what that series was about? But, you know, until then, we're here, we're watching, you know, Scooby-Doo Where Are You? Yep. You guys can too. It's on DVD, Blu-ray, VHS. Yeah, VHS player, and if you have wanna take the time to track down the specific episodes. I I'm not a hundred percent positive, but I almost think the entirety of Where Are You did make it onto classic Cartoon Network VHS.

SPEAKER_00

I think it did too. I just don't have that one specifically.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So obviously, the now modern day DVD and Blu-ray are probably your best bets for a physical set. Yep. Definitely your best bet. You know, digitally, you can get it from Fendango, which used to be Voodoo. Yep. Still forgot to double check if it's still available on Amazon Prime for purchase. It might be.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I see that as a good option. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And as of the recording of this episode, it is available to stream on the free site Tubi.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That's definitely still there.

SPEAKER_01

Still waiting for them to decide to give us the rest of the Scooby content that they teased us with before March.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But, you know, until then, we're gonna go ahead and split up, look for some clues, and we'll be right back after we watch the episode. And we're back. That was Scooby-Doo and a mummy too, and boy, there was a mummy, and there was Scooby, and there was Scooby. And there were two mummies.

SPEAKER_00

There were two mummies. Yeah, there were two mummies, surprisingly enough, and there was only supposed to be one. No, there's two.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, let's go ahead. Let's take this from the top. Alright, take it from the top. Alright. We open up at, you know, local college's Department of Archaeology. Yeah. You know. Scooby and the Gain are there helping set up mummy exhibits.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Visiting their friend who is just called the Professor.

SPEAKER_00

Just the Professor. He doesn't have an actual name. He's just the Professor.

SPEAKER_01

You know, while they're there setting up this exhibit for a 3,000-year-old mummy that was found. The professor's colleague, Dr. Najib, you know, explains that, you know, removing the mummy from his tomb, you know, came with a terrible, vague curse.

SPEAKER_00

Of course. Don't use don't usually mummies you take from them always have some sort of curse? Isn't that technically in all of mummy?

SPEAKER_01

The mummy swore, you know, he'd come back to life and turn to stone anyone who disturbed his tomb. You know, while that's going on, Scooby's being Scooby and is messing with a cat statue.

SPEAKER_00

Of course.

SPEAKER_01

When he's not looking, a second you know, a cat shows up. You know, it's a Siamese cat, so it looks the same as the statue.

SPEAKER_00

It does.

SPEAKER_01

Scooby then turns back, notices that now there are two cats.

SPEAKER_00

There are two of them. Hmm. How'd that happen?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. He taps the first one on the head and the statue. Taps the second one on the head and it just goes crazy. Yep. So Scooby kind of loses that fight with a cat.

SPEAKER_00

I guess he does. I didn't know. Whoops.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Shaggy finds this crazy kooky coin.

SPEAKER_00

Kookie, yep.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely. That the professor says that he has no idea of what it's for. And you know, Shaggy wants to know when they can eat.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Professor says, Well, why don't you go down, pick up some sandwiches, I'll pay.

SPEAKER_00

That's not really a good idea to try to pay for something that Shaggy and Scooby are gonna eat. A lot of people are gonna have their bank accounts drained by having them, you know, go all you can eat. That's really not a good option there.

SPEAKER_01

Well, so then again, this is the you know the 60s, so how expensive can actually we'll see how expensive it is later.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Yep, we will.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. While they're off getting food, though the professor's in his office reading and he hears a loud crash and sees a shadowy figure, looks out and sees that there's a human-sized hole in the glass door.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And notices that the mummy is gone.

SPEAKER_00

Where could the mummy be? What happened? Where'd the mummy go?

SPEAKER_01

That's a good question.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe we'll find that maybe we'll find that question out later. What happens?

SPEAKER_01

We then cut to the malt shop, which you know, I really like the design of the malt shop.

SPEAKER_00

I love the design of the malt shop.

SPEAKER_01

So I can iconic compared to later designs of the malt shop that I've seen, like specifically the one that we see in Scooby Natural. Yeah, that is a weird outside design.

SPEAKER_00

Like this, like this is iconic.

SPEAKER_01

This is the iconic well, because I mean we've seen the malt chop in the other ones, but it's like a simple, like almost like 50s diner-esque type style.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And that is I I mean, the malt chop is so iconic that even just seeing it like that is just you know the best. So props to the designer.

SPEAKER_01

You know, at the malt shop, the waiter at the malt shop says that they're you know the three hamburgers are ready. Just finishing up the three sandwiches, yep. Which are liverwurst with ice cream.

SPEAKER_00

Who would think that would be a combination of and screoby? Yeah. Both of them it has to be both of them.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, we find out that for three hamburgers and three liverwursten ice cream sandwiches, the total comes to a buck fifty.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. I guess.

SPEAKER_01

It's not exactly breaking the bank.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, it's not. Back then it wouldn't be, but they they didn't go over actually.

SPEAKER_01

When you think about what that would be nowadays, that's probably what ten, twenty bucks. You need me more than that. Probably. It's like, well, what how much is a hamburger at McDonald's? That's like Yeah, and I'm not talking about like a you know, like a Big Mac or anything like I'm not like a regular cheeseburger. Yeah, right. That's probably what, two or three bucks?

SPEAKER_00

I think so, like $2.99 or something like that. No, I want to go looking, but it's like two nine. It's I think it's like about $2.99.

SPEAKER_01

I want to roughly you know, without even looking, you know, but that's from them, you know, versus like and so yeah, and you know, I can't imagine you know, I I would imagine almost a sandwich would probably be like close to, if not maybe a just a little bit less. Right. But then ice cream would be like a you know dollar add-on or something.

SPEAKER_00

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Either way, they're eating pretty good for pretty cheap back then. Right. Shaggy pulls money out of his pocket and to pay. And the chef at the malt shop engines like, what kind of kooky coin is this?

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_02

What's that?

SPEAKER_01

Turns out Shaggy expertly pocketed the Egyptian coin. Yep. Because he's an expert coin collector like that.

SPEAKER_00

He's an expert coin collector, yep. We gotta put that one on there.

SPEAKER_01

Or is an expert kleptomaniac.

SPEAKER_00

Something like that.

SPEAKER_01

One of the two, it's Shaggy.

SPEAKER_00

He grant no, he he's an expert stealer. He's just stole that coin. That's what a kleptomaniac is. He's an expert coin stealer.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Yeah. Fred figures, you know, if they're going back to the museum anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Anyways, yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they're going back to the university, anyways, with the sandwiches. They can just give it back to the professor's end.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, no harm, no foul. And so when they get back, they go to the professor's office and they find him sitting in the dark. They turn on the light, and it turns out he's now a statue.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no.

SPEAKER_01

They look out and they see the mummy is gone.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no.

SPEAKER_01

And notice the human-shaped hole in the glass door.

SPEAKER_00

Hmm. But yeah, it's on the other side.

SPEAKER_01

Figure that okay, the mummy came to life and broke out. But the glass is on the inside.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Meaning somebody had to come in. So you know, they decide they'll they will go ahead, split up. Yep. Shaggy, Scooby, and Velma go awful in one direction. Shake and Scooba wearing some pots on their heads, carrying a trash can lid and brooms making noise. Yep. Velma chatizes them like you're gonna scare the mummy away. That's the whole idea, Velma.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's the whole point, Velma. Weren't you listening? Don't you know that we don't want the monster around? So we scare them.

SPEAKER_01

Well, scare them, but she tells them to go ahead and put that stuff away, so they open a janitor closet and Shaggy calls her a spoiled sport. Yep. And lo and behold, the mummy's in the closet.

SPEAKER_00

He's in the closet. What's he doing in the closet?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, we're trying to keep this kid friendly, right now.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I know, I know. But I mean, like, I mean, like, because where would Yeah he should have been gone, gone, you know, at least outside or something. You know, I mean, like, what is he do doing in the closet to know to be in there when they open the door and put the stuff in? You know, that's more or less what I'm saying. That's what makes no sense. It's like what is was he just hoping they someone would open the door and he's surprised them or whatever? Or what does it mean?

SPEAKER_01

You know, some what is he thinking? Where some of these monsters hide is just kind of like okay, you either were like you were either just hiding in there hoping to get lucky, or I don't know, are you some kind of fortune teller and can see the future?

SPEAKER_00

Right. Well, we know the mummy isn't a fortune teller, but it it just what is he doing? I mean, I don't understand if you'd be like outside or something, or somewhere in more into the museum or something. Yeah. But what why why are you why are you in the closet? Like, did he happen to see stuff missing from the closet and think? Oh, hey, someone's gonna come back and put this in here, but who would the thing that why would you think it'd be Shaggy, the one who has to point? Why would you think he'd come back and put them in?

SPEAKER_01

Is there a precedent of Shaggy and Scooby putting stuff in random closets?

SPEAKER_00

There might be. Well, there is then they'll be as bad as Daphne opening up door number three, which smells the night ghost, you know? It's like Andrew Prone Daphne found the night. That's a tricky one on that one, but anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Anyways, they close the door on the mummy, in which he then breaks it down.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they run off to another room. Shaggy and Velma dress up in Anthony and Cleopatra disguise. Yep. Scooby goes ahead and hides in a jar.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And the mummy looks through the jars, eventually finds Scooby. Yep. And Velma sneezes, giving away their disguises. Yep. Unfortunately. Yep. They go off, run into another room, in which Velma then tells the mummy to go away.

SPEAKER_00

How is that gonna go away? How is that going? And Shaggy can't get through the door because the door is locked is locked, but yet, what do you think that's gonna do when you tell him to go away? What do you think that's gonna go away?

SPEAKER_01

Velma, did that work last week against the vampire?

SPEAKER_00

No, well, telling him to stop that? Well, then she didn't know who the vampire was after the second time of season. So how does that does she have a short-term memory loss? Or did something happen? She got out trippy or something. I mean, I don't understand why you don't remember.

SPEAKER_01

Precedent with Velma? Like, I don't remember this.

SPEAKER_00

Right? Yeah, I don't remember her not remembering the monster. I'm like, you just saw him like five minutes ago, and how the vampire shows up the most. How do you not remember him? So that's when you said to him to stop that, right?

SPEAKER_01

You know, they pretty much determine that the mummy it wants the crazy Egyptian coin Shaggy has.

SPEAKER_00

She does because he's like coin, coin.

SPEAKER_01

And she she tells Shaggy not to give it to him.

SPEAKER_00

Then he gets even more mad.

SPEAKER_01

So they ask Scooby to do something.

SPEAKER_00

Quick, Scooby, do something.

SPEAKER_01

He doesn't want to, so in order to get him to do something, yep. Guys, he gets a whole box of Scooby Sacks.

SPEAKER_00

He gets a whole box of Scooby sacks. Which it definitely brings our total up a lot more.

SPEAKER_01

I think because we slowed down, tried counting what we could. We got to maybe at least 40.

SPEAKER_00

At least 40.

SPEAKER_01

And we have come to the conclusion doing a lot of extensive research on the subject. Yep. We figure there's probably approximately 80 Scooby snacks in the one box.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Don't ask us how we got that number. Don't ask us. It was a pain to try to get that number.

SPEAKER_00

It was definitely, and it was even more of a pain to try to figure out how many were actually in Scooby's mouth as he was devouring it.

SPEAKER_01

So do yourselves a favor, just take our word for it.

SPEAKER_00

Just take our word for it. Don't don't try to question it, all right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we got up there. You don't want to become insane like us.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, great. Now we're insane trying to figure this stuff out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but we're experts in insanity. We're experts in the experience. Like Shady.

SPEAKER_00

Like Chaggy's an expert, so are we. Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

But no, we figured, like, you know, at least 40, he ate this.

SPEAKER_00

At least 40.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, we couldn't tell if this was a brand new box or was already going on.

SPEAKER_00

So man.

SPEAKER_01

We then get Scooby versus the mummy. He punches the mummy, hurts his paw.

SPEAKER_00

It looks like an accordion, too. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

He runs off, comes back in a ghee, and starts doing karate karate chopper. Yeah. Starts going back with old karate chopper.

SPEAKER_00

The old karate treatment.

SPEAKER_01

That doesn't work.

SPEAKER_00

No, it doesn't.

SPEAKER_01

He runs off again.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

He comes back just to dance off.

SPEAKER_00

With a hat and a cane.

SPEAKER_01

You know, abandoning Shaggy and Velma.

SPEAKER_00

Velma doesn't like that. How do you like that? He dances off and desserts us.

SPEAKER_01

But you gotta admit, he looked good doing it.

SPEAKER_00

He did look pretty good, didn't he? He wasn't bad.

SPEAKER_01

Scooby quietly sneaks back in with some nails and a hammer. A hammer. And he nails part of the bandages of the mummy down to the floor. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty good on Scooby's part for that, you know.

SPEAKER_01

You know, Shaggy, Velma, Scooby, get away. Yep. The mummy also rips his bandages and gets away. Yep. But we then cut to Fred and Daphne outside, where they find some footprints.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, that's true.

SPEAKER_01

They follow the footprints and they find Dr. Najib's car. Yep. And they find out that he has been turned to stone.

SPEAKER_02

Hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Meaning he must have met the mummy before he could leave.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know. Shaggy Velma and Scooby go back to where the mummy was to find him missing. Uh-oh. But they see the part of the bandage. And just by feeling it, Velma can see that it doesn't feel like it's 3,000 years old.

SPEAKER_02

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_01

So they go to the science lab to test it. Of course. Where else would they go? Oh, Velma is doing her sciencey stuff, saying big words. I don't understand. Right.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's Velma. The logic doesn't make sense with Velma. She doesn't speak English, remember?

SPEAKER_01

Scooby just decides he's just gonna start randomly drinking random liquids.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Because they looked like they smelled good. So what's the problem? But yet you didn't want to drink whatever concoction Shaggy made up in the previous episode, so this must have been better, but I don't know what I don't know. Well, he might have exploded with the last one, so he probably wasn't a good idea he didn't drink that one.

SPEAKER_01

And by drinking said liquids, Scooby temporarily becomes a frog.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, how does that what was in that liquid that made it only for like 30 seconds? Coldstool? Could be. I don't know what that was. I don't know what kind of concoction that was, to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. Uh-huh. Yeah. Velma asks for a chemical who that I don't remember is phosphate something. I don't care. Chemical something? I don't know. Yeah, I don't have it written down. I just wrote down it was a chemical. Yep. And the mummy hands it to her.

SPEAKER_00

So the mummy must have some kind of smarts to know which oh she was she wants this one. Here you go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like what?

SPEAKER_01

You know, they have to get away. So Velma using her science screen creates a smoke screen.

SPEAKER_00

And it's very effective, actually. Well, partly very effective, I should say.

SPEAKER_01

She and Shaggy get out of the room, barricading the door behind Shaggy.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Where Fred and Daphne have conveniently now shown up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, somehow they've created.

SPEAKER_01

They mentioned they have the mummy trapped in the science lab. Yep. They open the door. Mummy's gone. And so is Scooby. And so is Scooby. Where's Scooby? And the science lab is trashed.

SPEAKER_00

It definitely is trashed, yes. So it must have been looked like there's some form of a struggle in there.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they see an open window. Realizing those mummy must have Scooby. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely.

SPEAKER_01

Take took him out the window. They've gotta find him before Scooby ends up like the professor in Dr. Najib.

SPEAKER_00

What? What happened to Dr. Najib? What happened?

SPEAKER_01

He was turned into a statue too.

SPEAKER_00

What? Aw, poor Dr. Najib. Oh man. No one is safe from this mummy.

SPEAKER_01

They go outside and they find a Scooby statue.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no. He's he's put up to that big bone. He's gone to that big bone yard in the sky.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Shaggy's all sad, crying. He's lost his best friend.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

When he mentions a Scooby that, you know, look, Scooby, you've been turned to stone.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Now Scooby starts crying. He starts crying because he dug out from underground. Yep, from under the shed. Yeah. And Shaggy then realizes.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, wait a minute. Scooby's two. You're two Scoobies. Wait a minute. What? Like what?

SPEAKER_01

So it's now looking like the mummy can't really turn people to stone.

SPEAKER_00

No, then.

SPEAKER_01

So what's that all about?

SPEAKER_00

No, what is that? Yeah, we haven't figured that out yet. What's going on?

SPEAKER_01

They go back to the professor's office to look at his notes. Yep. They are examining a book that's talking about a hippo statue. In that shot, we get a very interesting animation error where it looks like Shaggy is wearing a skin-colored mittage.

SPEAKER_00

Definitely. Because it doesn't show his finger, lines of his fingers.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he doesn't have Velma's.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, it doesn't actually show Fres because his are in his pocket, so that makes sense. But yet it shows Velma's very clearly, so it's like, what's going on with Shaggy's hands there for a second?

SPEAKER_01

As they're reading through the notes, eventually big bad and bandaged.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, big bad and bandages is back. Yeah. That was like the best line.

SPEAKER_01

Right. They decide to go run into the wood shop room. Yep. And Fred tells Daphne to turn off the light so they can hide. And she turns on the power saw.

SPEAKER_00

What what what why would you ask Daphne to do it when you know she's danger-prone Daphne? She's done it before. Why do you think why do you think to ask her again?

SPEAKER_01

I'm just surprised that her danger proneness extends to the fact that usually on power tools, even when they're plugged in, they won't run unless you like turn them on.

SPEAKER_00

Right, you have to turn them on.

SPEAKER_01

And the fact that, you know, the switch on the wall is what turns on the saw.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And it actually moves, then actually You know, so it's moving on its own all around the room. Right. It eventually cuts a hole in the ground. Yep. Under you know, around Mystery Inc., where they've then drop down into the pool. Yep. Which, you know, that's not quite how floors and ceilings work.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I it's Scooby logic. It doesn't have to make sense, but yet this is just for the episode. I mean, come on now.

SPEAKER_01

You know. So, yeah, Mr. Ink is now sitting on a piece of floor uh in a pool. In a pool. When the mummy decides to throw the power saw down, which is now chasing them in the pool.

SPEAKER_00

How how does that make any sense? Because you would think it would either drop all the way to the bottom, or you think it would just electrocute and then not work anymore, and then drop to the bottom too. Why is it not dropping to the bottom of the pool?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But, anyways, you know, it's chasing them. Somehow. And eventually it smashes into the side of the pool and sinks down.

SPEAKER_00

Now it sinks down. You would think it would have sunk down before, but you know, it's besides the point, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

They're all exhausted from the running. They're taking, you know, they're getting a rest in the locker room.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And Shaggy sits down because boy, are his feet killing him. Yep, they're definitely. One, two, three, four of them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, good. They're all here.

SPEAKER_01

Shaggy is sitting basically right in front of the mummy.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And the mummy still fails to grab him.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

That's terrible reaction time.

SPEAKER_00

Terrible reaction time.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, in terms of grabbing them, I think the mummy is worse than Frankenstein.

SPEAKER_00

I think the mum, yeah, definitely worse than Frankenstein. Definitely. Well, he groans and makes noise behind him. He could have just not made a noise and actually, like, I got you, versus making that grunt, groaning, grunting noise and then looking shaggy. He wouldn't have known you were behind him unless you did something. Yeah. It's like that how you should have just kept your mouth shut. I mean, honestly, then you could have grabbed him and be like, I found a clue, guys. The mummy caught me. Yeah, it the monster monsters are well. The mummy has some level of intelligence, but not the good at grabbing.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it argues about the coin with them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_01

I bet he wants that Egyptian coin. Groans nod in his head. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Don't give it to him. Yeah, he's having a temper tantrum, guys. That's what he's doing right now.

SPEAKER_01

Anyways. Shaggy and Scooby run outside to the construction site of the gym extension.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And they trip over some stuff and they find some quick drying mold cement.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, so now we found out what happened with all the others. Oh, okay. So they were drawn out. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they keep running and they go and hide in a shed. In a shed.

SPEAKER_00

That Scooby just previously came out of.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So, hmm. Um I wonder. You know, while they're hiding, you know, they go to open the door of the shed to find the mummy, pretty much laying bricks to seal them in. Yep. Kind of like in Edgar Allan Poe's Cask of Amontato.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh. You know, mummy asks for the coin.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Scooby gives him a mouse trap.

SPEAKER_00

Way to go, Scoob. Now he's really sore ass.

SPEAKER_01

While they are now being sealed inside of the shed, they hear a noise, and they find the professor is tied up and gagged inside a sack in the shed.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know. They ungag him, ask if he's okay.

SPEAKER_00

He says he's fine.

SPEAKER_01

And then Shaggy puts the gag back on him.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if that still counts as being fine.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think either. Well, wait, what? Why are you putting this back on me?

SPEAKER_01

They decide they're gonna break out of the shed with a lawnmower. We immediately goes out of control.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it yeah, with Shaggy trying to keep up with it, definitely is going out of control.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And to the point where, you know, they all end up in the gym.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

That Fred and the girls go run into the gym because they see the mummy is coming that way. Yep. Followed by Shaggy and Scoob on the lawnmower.

SPEAKER_00

Which Fred thinks that the baseball bat is gonna be enough to hold. No, Fred, that's definitely not gonna be good enough to h- Well, if it was just the mummy, it probably would be enough, but yet you got a lawnmower coming your way. That's all fired up, and you know, you have Shaggy and Scooby with that. So no, I don't think the baseball bat is gonna be enough.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Shaggy and Scooby crash into the mummy, which breaks down the door. You let the mummy leaving Shaggy sitting on the door while Scooby and the Mummy are now on the lawnmower.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Which crashes into Pumble Horse for gymnastics. Yep. Uh-huh. Which throws them into a trampoline.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

They bounce on the trampoline for a bit before Scooby grabs onto some gymnastic rings. Yep. The mummy coes down and back up again off the trampoline where Scooby kicks the mummy into the basketball hoop.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That's three points.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, that is three points.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

To which then Scooby manages to drop down to land nice, safely on the trampoline.

SPEAKER_00

Safely on the trampoline. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they take a ladder up to unmask the mummy and find out that it's Dr. Najib.

SPEAKER_00

What? How could it be him? What?

SPEAKER_01

He was after the crazy coin.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Because it turns out that on the hippo statue, you put the coin into a slot in the back. Oh.

SPEAKER_00

And it opened up a secret compartment in its mouth.

SPEAKER_01

Which contained a diamond scarab.

SPEAKER_00

Ah, worth a fortune.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

You know. The professor explains that, you know, after the gang left, you know, Dr. G broke inside to steal the coin. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And realized that the gang must have it.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, and because the professor saw him, he had to do something about it.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they ask, you know, what happened to the real mummy, and they find it just sitting over by some palm trees.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Why else wouldn't it be then? And then there's Scooby's ventuloquism of the mummy, which I'm assuming he learned from the expert himself, Shaggy.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Since he caught two rounds of it being a ventuloquist.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. And so that wraps up both the mystery and the mummy. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it definitely wraps up that one. Should we uh should we have the uh lawn mower be a safety hazard? I think that would be the safety concern. Yeah, yeah. Definitely and the power saw.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely don't throw power tools into bodies of water. Definitely do, especially while they are running. Especially while running.

SPEAKER_00

That is a that's just a no-go. Yep, so we have our safety concerns for the up. That's a pretty concerning one. So we you know felt like those should be mentioned.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, we get some fun with our snack intake this year. Because uh, we've got 40 to add to our snack and take. Yep. Which I believe now brings us to a total of 60 smoothie snacks. Yep. One shaggy snack.

SPEAKER_00

One shaggy snack.

SPEAKER_01

And one hero sandwich.

SPEAKER_00

Hero sandwich. That's a total of 62.

SPEAKER_01

And I think now we're on episode 12.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Yep, episode 12.

SPEAKER_01

If my math is mathing right. Oh boy, here we go. I think we've now averaged five Scooby Snacks per episode.

SPEAKER_00

That it yeah, that does make sense. So we're getting up to that six six that was put for the behind the scenes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Scooby-doo.

SPEAKER_01

I thought it was gonna be a bit longer before we got a whole box of Scooby Snacks.

SPEAKER_00

But uh yeah, I mean I didn't think I didn't think we were gonna get one in this episode, but apparently I don't remember him taking the whole box. I you know, I I knew we were getting that, but I didn't think it was gonna be this soon. Right? So, I mean, I guess it'll be interesting when the next one happens, if it happened, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I think it does happen at least one more time. Oh, and that's that's coming up, so we're gonna see how that one goes too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I used to think actually I think more than once. I think it happened, yeah, a couple like two more times at least, I think.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We'll have to, yeah, I think so. So we're gonna be in for a it might jump it up to six then, average-wise.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

SPEAKER_00

You know, alright.

SPEAKER_01

So now let's go ahead and continue with our fun stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, our fun stuff.

SPEAKER_01

You know, we've covered the snack intake, so why don't you go ahead and jump to the manifest of monsters?

SPEAKER_00

Alright, let's do the mana. Oh boy, the manifesto.

SPEAKER_01

Because I think this will be the easiest of them.

SPEAKER_00

I think I think you got it.

SPEAKER_01

So where where do we rank the mummy?

SPEAKER_00

Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

I mean Let's go over the list real quick for a while.

SPEAKER_00

Let's go over the list, guys.

SPEAKER_01

At number 14, we've got Frankenstein's monster.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number 13, we've got the eight-man. 12, we have the fortune teller. 11 is the Vazquez Castle Ghost. 10 is the Black Knight Ghost. 9 is the Minor 49er. Yep. 8 is the Indian Witch Doctor. Yep. 7 is Captain Cutler. 6 is the Werewolf. 5 is Charlie the Robot. Yep. 4 is the Ghost Clown. Yep. 3 is Pietro the Puppet Master.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number 2 is the Franken Vampire. You know, the vampire of Franken Castle. Yep. And number one, you know, still reigning champ after episode 6.

SPEAKER_00

The ghost of Elias Kingston.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So he hasn't. No one's been able to take his spot yet. So we'll I'm curious to see if anyone will be able to take his spot. So we'll have to find out. We'll have to find out.

SPEAKER_01

But so where would you rank the mummy?

SPEAKER_00

Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that's a grabbing skills is worse than Frankenstein's monster.

SPEAKER_00

He is worse than Frankenstein's monster. Design? Yeah, design. Okay. I mean, he is you do see what he looks like before he's wrapped up. So there is a definite difference, and it doesn't seem like it's a lazy because he tried to put himself into that.

SPEAKER_01

Although, what's the difference between a zombie and a mummy? That's what I want to know.

SPEAKER_00

That's what you want to know.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean, I guess that's that'll be a question for next week.

SPEAKER_00

I g yeah, I guess so. Yep. Okay. I mean, he has he is pretty smart because he hands Velma apparently the right the right concoction to put in the thing.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean Okay, so who do we think he's not better than?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I would say like iconic wise, probably not as good as Captain Colour. I mean, I would put him I don't know how high you want to put him. I mean it's hard to see it's the monster iconic one too, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He is, but at the same time, like he's not as iconic. What do you think about it? This is the fourth monster that is, you know, a part of like the universal world of monsters.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, like vampires, werewolves, and Frankenstein monsters and mummies are like very universal monsters, you know. So it's not like he's unique, right? Yeah, specifically to Scooby, like whereas somebody like Captain Cutler or the Minor 49er.

SPEAKER_00

Right. So you want to say he's between these two between minor 49er and Black Knight, is that where you want to put him?

SPEAKER_01

I think honestly, yeah. I think I think he's close to Black Knight Ghost just because he's there because with the Black Knight Ghost, he was, you know, a suit of armor that was brought to the museum.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

You know, Dr. Niji was just utilizing the mummy for this you know exhibit at the college.

SPEAKER_02

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You know, I think in terms of effective, like the mummy had more of a reason to be there than the museum curator dressing up as the black knight ghost after the initial kidnapping of Professor Hyde White.

SPEAKER_00

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I would say maybe below minor 49er but above black knight ghosts. Right. No, I think that would be more I guess just because like, you know, he has more of a reason to be dressed up as a mummy.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

When yeah, you stop to think about it like Yeah. He did not have you know, the museum curator didn't have a reason to still be the Black Knight after you know he had no idea the mystery ink was gonna come back.

SPEAKER_00

Right, yeah, he had no idea.

SPEAKER_01

But okay. So let's go now to the Fred Jones failure files. First of all, I think we should figure out what what do we constitute as a trap for this episode? Oh man, I mean it's Scooby on the lawnmower, Scooby playing basketball.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Wow. Because ultimately it's the basketball hoop that they trap the monster with. But that all stems from the lawnmower. Right. So yeah, I'd say like lawnmower basketball.

SPEAKER_00

Sure. I mean, yeah, I mean, I guess that would work.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, going back to what our failure files are.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number 12 is just the tapestry they try to catch a vampire in.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Then we have the giant slide.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number 10, we've got the instant suns.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number nine is the running of the dogs.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Number eight is just the random biplane.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Random biplane.

SPEAKER_01

Number seven is what I like to call Scooby Strikes Back.

SPEAKER_00

That's a good one. I like the name of that one.

SPEAKER_01

Tying up a vampire. Empire Strikes Back Cost Battle Style.

SPEAKER_00

That's what it looked like. Before I think it was even before it came out that he did that. He did that before Star Wars came out, so that Star was.

SPEAKER_01

So George Lucas obviously must be a Scooby fan.

SPEAKER_00

He has to be a Scooby fan. I mean copied him.

SPEAKER_01

He must have been unofficially confirmed by this podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Unofficially confirmed. Whoops. Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Then we've got the drum and tuba. Yep. We've got the crate and giant magnet. Yep. We've got the mirror.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

The chandelier to catch a werewolf.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Pretty effective.

SPEAKER_01

Special effects nonsense. And the best trap to date is the better trap. So where do we think the lawnmower basketball goes?

SPEAKER_00

I mean. I mean it's I mean, I would say it's definitely better than the At least up to the biplane. I mean, it's definitely better than any of, you know, any of those.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's definitely better than the biplane.

SPEAKER_00

Ren yeah, the biplane. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

It's still Scooby trying to turn Monster into a ghost.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

It's all trying to swam into him.

SPEAKER_01

Scooby and his homicidal tendencies.

SPEAKER_00

He's like really trying to wreck everything. I mean, well, it's probably better than Strikes Back, because it's not as it's more damaging than him just throwing him into the dungeon. You know.

SPEAKER_01

Is it better than Yeah, I'd say it's better than the drum in the tuba.

SPEAKER_00

I would say it's probably better than drum in the tuba.

SPEAKER_01

Is it better than the chandelier?

SPEAKER_00

I would say probably not. Just because just because well, I mean, even though even though Shaggy didn't have a way out versus Scooby, which just fell on the room.

SPEAKER_01

Now is it better than the mirror?

SPEAKER_00

I would say it's better than the mirror. I would honestly think it's better than the mirror, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now I think better than the mirror. I mean though the mirror was funny, I just think it's probably better than the mirror. If that makes sense to you. It does. I love how we try to figure this out. Like as we're on the puck. Yeah. That's interesting. Using two laptops instead of one. I never knew we were so high tech. We're getting more high-tech here, guys.

SPEAKER_01

Gives us a chance. It gives us a better chance of keeping track of the manifest, the monsters, and the failure files. Yep, definitely failure files. So I think that just about wraps up this mystery.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I suppose that wraps it up. Now we have to rate the episode.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. Almost forgot about the table of snacks.

SPEAKER_00

When you're the one who thought of that name, it wasn't me. I did the monster one. Manifest was my idea. So. Oh man.

SPEAKER_01

How many Scooby Snacks do we give this episode?

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. I mean, was it as good? Was it as good as last week's?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if I was like, I know last last week's I know we gave like a nice solid four because it was just missing that little bit to give it a perfect five.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Yep. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

That's just it. Like, do we think this is we like this one more or less than last week?

SPEAKER_00

I think it probably is less than last week. Because last week was like a lot more. I mean, you know, we get Shaggy, well, Scooby beating up the monster, but yet, you know, we get all those other monsters. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, you know, we get the better, you know, we get the better trap option.

SPEAKER_01

You know, we get, you know, I just don't see it as good as coming off of last week's, I think, was a little rough on this one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like, yeah. You know, it's not a bad episode.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Just we are so much liking the other one versus this one. I mean, I would have even, you know, argued that that one would have been, you know, you know, not even a 4.0. Like even more, a little like a 4.2 or 4.3 than we could have put that this one is a 4.0, you know, but I mean it's not as big of a deal, you know. But I'm like, I even thought maybe a 4.5, but you know, I mean, I mean, this one is iconic in the way that it is, and you remember Scooby's, you know, where he's punching and beating up the mummy. Yeah. That was iconic.

SPEAKER_01

Crying over the stone Scooby statue.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, getting a whole apparently getting a whole box of Scooby Snacks, which I don't even remember ever getting a whole box for this episode, but yet you know, it's it's well, because that's the first time we actually see the Scooby Snack versus someone who's pulling them out of their pocket or something. So, you know, and it's not like it's Velma or Fred doing it, because if it was them, then Scooby probably wouldn't have done that because you know he never would have done that to Fred, because you know, Fred's, you know, Fred. You know, but because none of them actually had the Scooby Snack out until now, and then that's when it's like, oh, it's Shaggy, you get I'm gonna take all of it. Okay, alright. That's enough payment, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

So you're thinking what, four?

SPEAKER_00

I think in four, yeah. I think the same as, you know, well, I guess same as last week's, I guess, but you know, we're being rougher on this episode, I guess. But you know, coming off of such a good episode.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think this was bad enough to be a good one. No, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

No, definitely not like the uh glass cast castle one, which probably was didn't we rate that one as a three? I think that was that might be our lowest rating so far. That one just wasn't.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think well I I think they may have been I think there was one other one we gave a three, I think decoy for our dog napper, maybe.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, that one might have been lower just because it wasn't as I think on average, like they pretty much spend like threes and fours.

SPEAKER_01

Threes and fours. But I think we have more fours and threes.

SPEAKER_00

I think so, yeah. So I mean it'll be interesting to see what ones come up with five or even closer. I mean, we have a couple that are even closer to five, so you know it'll be interesting to see if we actually get any that are at five. You know, that definitely will be interesting to see what those ones are, you know, versus our own our own favorites, our criticisms, you know. Yeah, you know, just to see, you know, what what's going on, you know, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Exactly. You know? So I'm you know, I'm excited for these, you know, even though we're you know getting close to the end, you know, I'm the ones at the end are a lot, you know, you get a lot more, you get all the fancy chase scenes and all that, you know, get more of the iconic stuff coming out. So it's like, you know, I'm getting you know, I'm getting very excited for you know these next handful of episodes, you know. We're gonna get we're gonna have a lot more fun, you know, and have you know guest stars back and you know and all that cool stuff. Right, yeah. You know, people coming back and rejoining us, you know, and helping us out on the podcast that they love just as much as we do, you know. So that's awesome to hear that, you know. It is, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, you guys, you know, feel free to reach out to us if you want. Um you know, we'll be happy to hear from you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Hear from you guys, ask for any questions, you know. Yeah, you know, anything you guys want to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So now with all of that said, now we now we've wrapped up the mystery, the mummy, and this podcast episode.

SPEAKER_00

Apparently. Yep. So finally we did it. Right.

SPEAKER_01

So we will be back next week with which witch is witch.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's a good tongue twister.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Say that two, three times faster.

SPEAKER_01

We have to find a witch for next episode.

SPEAKER_00

We might have to find a witch. Are we gonna find one?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. Where would we even look?

SPEAKER_00

Which is our thing, yeah. Where would we even look for one? Uh well, I guess we'll have to find one somehow for next week. So all right.

SPEAKER_01

But until then, just remember, they would have gotten away with it too. If it weren't for those meddling kids.
