SPEAKER_00

Hello and welcome to the Scooby Zone, the podcast where solving mysteries is our hobby as we watch a bit of Scooby-Doo Media. I'm Rob. And I'm Katie. And today we'll be watching A Night of Fright Is No Delight. It is episode 16 of Scooby-Doo Where Are You? Oh, yeah, we're getting there. Episode 16.

SPEAKER_01

And this is a delightful episode. It definitely will be a delightful episode. I agree with that one.

SPEAKER_00

No. Can't believe we've we're this far already.

SPEAKER_01

I know. Isn't that something? It's so hard to believe. We're 16 episodes in. We're only nine more to go.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_01

That's just crazy.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, and then we get the new Scooby movies.

SPEAKER_01

Yay, the new Scooby movies. Those will be a lot. Those will be a lot of fun to do. I mean, those would be.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know, it's like we're having fun with Where Are You? But like.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna have so much more fun with all with the ones that are coming.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna have so much fun with the new Scooby movies. Yep. The Scooby-Doo show. Yep. I have a feeling Scooby-Doo. I have a feeling that we will start off with some fun when we get to Scrappy-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But then I feel like after a few weeks with Scrappy-Doo, it may go down the trailer. It may brow it may beat us down. Yeah. At least for sure when they ditch half of the game.

SPEAKER_01

I know. I don't like when they ditch half the gang. You know. It's no fun.

SPEAKER_00

But then it'll pick back up when we get through the Scrappy-Doo era and we get to a pup named Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

That's gonna be a lot of fun. We're gonna have a lot of fun with that one. That's those are a lot of good episodes. They're just so good. Yeah, yeah. I know that's our own biased opinion, but I feel like that is a really good series. I mean, it's just such a such a good one.

SPEAKER_00

You know, as always, you know, reminder to comment, review, subscribe, you know, to our show on whichever platform you are using to listen. We'd love the feedback.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Would help other people find our brilliance.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we want more people to be listening, guys, so help us out.

SPEAKER_00

You know, you know, you can always email us any questions or comments to ScoobyZonepodcast at gmail.com.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely.

SPEAKER_00

I promise you we read them.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we will read them, please, people. Some we might even read on the air, so you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. You know. What else can we say about this week's episode?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. It's gonna be a pretty I think it's gonna be a pretty good one. You know, the chase scenes with the ghosts are pretty good. Phantom shadows. Phantom shadows, you know, dancing with them and giving them the phone. Yeah, definitely going to hell.

SPEAKER_00

Wait, no, that's not this one.

SPEAKER_01

What are you doing? You're talking about the wrong episode. Wait a minute. Come on now.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe that's a little tease for the listeners.

SPEAKER_01

Might be a little bit of a tease, you know. Come on. Oh man, you gotta stop teasing people like that. Well, honestly. It's gonna happen. They're gonna see something.

SPEAKER_00

No, they really should have known this by now. You know, it's been it's been what? I don't know how many years since Scooby Natural came out as an episode. Yeah, it's been Was that what, 18 or 19?

SPEAKER_01

Man, I I wish I knew, but I mean it it was season 13. So season 15, they ended. That was in 2020. So it was at least two or three years.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, either 2018, 2019.

SPEAKER_01

Something like that. Well, I would say 18, probably 17 or 18, I think. Because every year is a new one.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I know I know the writer of that episode also wrote the Return to Zombie Island movie.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um. But there were there were production issues with that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I definitely agree with you on that one. I never oh that's oh wait, that's one we're probably gonna have to watch somewhere down the line, too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we'll be we can talk a little bit more about that when we get down.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when we get down there, how however long that was gonna take to get to.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know.

SPEAKER_00

Haven't figured quite mapped out yet like how and when we'll start tackling some of the movies, bigger movies.

SPEAKER_01

The direct to video movies, basically. Yep. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. So until then, we'll go off to watch the episode. You guys can to, you know, watch it on Tubi. Buy it digitally on whichever platforms you buy your digital media from. Yep. Buy physical copies on DVD or Blu-ray, you know, from wherever you can buy physical copies from yet these days.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's not very many of them left anymore, sadly enough.

SPEAKER_00

If you still have a VHS player and want to look for it on VHS, you've got that right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, definitely do it.

SPEAKER_00

Don't know how easy it is to find.

SPEAKER_01

It might not be, but you know, keep looking, guys. You'll find something eventually. Right.

SPEAKER_00

But until then, we're gonna go split up and look for some clues, and we will be right back. And we're back. That was a night of fright is no delight, and what a delight it was on that frightful night.

SPEAKER_01

What's that? That's a mouthful.

SPEAKER_00

I swear, that's that title is just so much fun to say.

SPEAKER_01

It is, isn't it? It's a little tongue twister.

SPEAKER_00

It is. So going into the episode, we open with creepy house on a hill that is essentially just an island.

SPEAKER_01

That's a really small island, a host, just a house. Yeah, the island.

SPEAKER_00

No, the island is literally just a hill with a house on it.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty much. That's a really good thing.

SPEAKER_00

How do you really live there?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. That's a good question, but apparently he lived there very well. I don't maybe there was a way to get there at one time.

SPEAKER_00

Like, but like but still, because they know they're boating over there.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yeah, I mean it it's not too unbelievable. I mean, there are no it's not unbelievable. There are lakes that have that where people actually park somewhere and have to drive, have to, you know, move on.

SPEAKER_00

I just find it inconvenient for food.

SPEAKER_01

Well, what do you can do in the winter? You have to walk over the s the ice and everything to get there?

SPEAKER_00

You know, that's uh going off the assumption that you know they live somewhere that has winter like that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's one on my grandparents' lake. There's one that they have to drive over on the boat because they can't get there any other way. So how what do they do? They have to That's the other thing. When it's winter and they have to put the boat away, how do they get back to shore when they don't have the boat when it's on the other side I mean, do they have someone come pick them up and they cook them off? They must know what they're doing. They've been doing it since I've been going there. That's been how many years ago?

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's like, you know, with what we see later in this episode, like I don't think the side you know where this house is, like, I don't think that that lake freezes or that body of water.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, yeah, they're lucky that doesn't, but I'm pretty sure theirs does, so anyways, you know, Mystery Inc.

SPEAKER_00

are on a boat heading to this creepy island. Yep. Because as it turns out, Scooby was mentioned in a will to inherit a fortune from uh Colonel Beauregard Sanders. A Beauregard? Yep. I honestly I wonder if there's any relation to Colonel Beauregard, that's Shaggy's uncle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I wonder too.

SPEAKER_00

That would be like who was a Confederate soldier. Not quite sure how that works out.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Because what? That would have been a hundred years prior to Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Specifically, like this iteration of Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

So thanks, Scooby, for making me do math.

SPEAKER_01

Roar welcome.

SPEAKER_00

Um, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

It sure is a creepy night for a will reading.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely is. Thank you, Daphne, for saying that.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. So, you know, they go to the spooky mansion.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Once inside, uh Cosgood creeps, you know, has gathered all of the beneficiaries together and was instructed by the late colonel to play a record that is essentially his last will.

SPEAKER_01

How do you record yourself onto a record? That doesn't make sense.

SPEAKER_00

You probably recorded it before he died.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, people who do like you know those video wills.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Nowadays.

SPEAKER_01

Just seemed a lot more complicated to do a recording on a record tape when it must be in like a studio or something to do it. You know, it seems more of it.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's it could have, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Records are commonplace at the time.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I know, but I just meant like, you know, they're not as yeah high up there in the high tech as we are now. You know what I mean? Like it's not as easy back then as it is now just to record. We're recording right off of a computer. How would they have been able to do that back then?

SPEAKER_00

They had computers in the 60s.

SPEAKER_01

They did.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but they like took up a whole entire room.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's that's inconvenient.

SPEAKER_00

Anyways, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Moving on.

SPEAKER_00

The beneficiaries are Cousin Slicker, Cousin Simple, Nephew Norval, and sweet cousin Meldehyde.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And the Colonel's good friend Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

Not that they're all here.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Basically, they're all in line to inherit one million dollars of a fortune. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Providing.

SPEAKER_00

But they have to spend the entire night in the house.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that doesn't sound too bad.

SPEAKER_00

The house is haunted.

SPEAKER_01

Haunted?

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

You should have said yes, haunted. You missed the script, right? Yes, haunted.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Really? How did you know he was gonna say that? But maybe the ghost did know that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man.

SPEAKER_00

You know, whoever survives until morning gets the money.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. They get the money. We'll see who's alive if any of them are.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Apparently.

SPEAKER_00

Whoops. And with that, the lawyer dips out.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, he leaves. You know, be back in the morning. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

It's 10 o'clock, so it's time to turn in.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Time to go to bed.

SPEAKER_00

But into what?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. We never but into what?

SPEAKER_00

So, you know, we cut to the guy's room. So it's Fred and Shaggy sharing a room, separate beds. You know, Scooby's off to go take a bath.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Shaggy's hitting the old lunch sack, adds some salt and pepper to his sandwich. Uh-huh. And goes to add a little bit of fish food.

SPEAKER_01

But the fish doesn't like that.

SPEAKER_00

No, the fish does not like it. Shaggy's scared of a fish. So he puts it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think you'd be scared too if it growled at you like that. I think that would be. Yeah, probably. Okay, never mind.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think I would put fish food on a sandwich.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I would either, but yeah, apparently it's appetizing enough for Shaggy to eat.

SPEAKER_00

Can he help it that his first toy was a garbage disposal?

SPEAKER_01

I suppose not.

SPEAKER_00

Scooby goes off to take his bath while he's in the tub. Some tiles from the wall sideway to reveal a green ghost. A green ghost. A phantom shadow.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, the phantom shadow.

SPEAKER_00

The bathtub tips up. Yep. And it slides down into a secret tunnel in the wall.

SPEAKER_01

Hmm. That's interesting. A secret passageway?

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Another one. Where Scooby is then tormented by the Phantom Shadow.

SPEAKER_01

Torment.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Scooby, you know, runs out of the basement through a wall, up some stairs, and ends up back in his room with Fred and Shaggy.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And tries to explain what's going on. Where we find out Shaggy is an expert at trades.

SPEAKER_01

He most definitely is.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, next time we're playing trades, I want Shaggy and my team.

SPEAKER_01

I want Shaggy MIT too. We're gonna have to team up here.

SPEAKER_00

I guess so. We'll have to find more people to play trades with.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yes, but then the podcast team sticks together. We should name we'll name ourselves the podcast team. That'll be our name.

SPEAKER_00

Scooby Zone.

SPEAKER_01

Scooby Zone. That's our official team name.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Fred and Shaggy go look at the bathtub where it's bolted to the floor.

SPEAKER_01

So it definitely can't move. It's bolted to the floor. How's that gonna work?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh well. Oh well. You know, they go to bed, you know, clock chimes midnight. Yep. And the green ghost goes into Cousin Simple's room.

SPEAKER_01

Hmm.

SPEAKER_00

You know, everybody hears a noise, leaves their room, go to Cousin Simple's room, and he's gone.

SPEAKER_01

Gone? Gone. Where'd he go?

SPEAKER_00

You know, the first was gone, the rest will go. Unless they leave the island and row, row, row. The Phantom Shadow has gotten him.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, not the Phantom Shadow.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty much on his way to get the rest of them.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_00

Cousin Slicker says, you know, everybody should just go to their rooms and lock the doors.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's not gonna do them any good, because the ghost can get in through secret passageways. How's that gonna be? Ghost can walk through walls. That's right, ghost. Yeah, that's a ghost fire. Yeah, but does a ghost know they can walk through a wall? Maybe they need the secret passageway. Right.

SPEAKER_00

Anyways, they can Mr. Inc. constructs a dummy of Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

So that way. I mean, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So that way when the ghost comes to grab Scooby, they can grab the ghost.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

There's no evidence that the ghost is solid here, Fred.

SPEAKER_01

No evidence. It's a ghost. It's a ghost. Yeah, but the ghost doesn't.

SPEAKER_00

Shake and scoob are hiding on a pipe outside.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely a good idea. I can't see any wait. Is this our safety concern for the episode?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, probably don't hang off of drain pipes off the side of houses.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely not, even though I don't know very many that have any, but I wouldn't do it if I wouldn't do it though. You know.

SPEAKER_00

When at the top of the pipe, we see the hand of the Phantom Shadow push the pipe, and now Shaggy and Scoob are swinging back and forth.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no. Hey, this is definitely a safe.

SPEAKER_00

Velma tries to help, but ends up grabbed by Shaggy and Scooby, where they fall over, smack on a rock, and end up in a secret tunnel underneath the island.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

They find some footprints.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And we figure the Phantom Shadow has dirty feet.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he does. Why wouldn't he have dirty feet?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's a pretty good. So it's time to follow those dirty feet. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, follow.

SPEAKER_00

See where things go. And Shaggy's just gonna have to be brave.

SPEAKER_01

Or some kind of nut. Some kind of nut. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

As they progress deeper into the cave, they find a bunch of Civil War memorabilia.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Because it turns out the colonel was a big collector of that stuff. Oh, I did wasn't it a lot of Confederate uniforms too?

SPEAKER_01

I think so.

SPEAKER_00

When one of the Confederate uniforms p comes out of the pile and is kind of just floating there.

SPEAKER_01

He's flapping its wings.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Chases them around. They get cornered in an elevator.

SPEAKER_01

Uh oh.

SPEAKER_00

When Scooby starts growling. And it turns out to be a bird.

SPEAKER_01

So Scooby versus an animal.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And he wins.

SPEAKER_00

Take a drink. And be proud of our favorite loving dog.

SPEAKER_01

Be very proud. He just took care of it for us. Oh man. Maybe the maybe the faces he made scared him. He made a bunch of weird faces to his face. And noises. And noises. That probably confused the duck. He doesn't know what's going on. Thought it was a dog. What is it now?

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

They take the elevator up and it comes out in Cousin Slicker's room.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, the secret passageway tokens, huh?

SPEAKER_00

But Cousin Slicker is gone.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

How'd that happen? Well, don't hack up along as we're well, you know, doing the podcast here.

SPEAKER_00

Sorry.

SPEAKER_01

We don't want you to die on the podcast. Time of death.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know. Basically, it's then discovered that everyone is missing. Cousin Slicker, Cousin Slimple, Nephew Norble, and sweet cousin Meldehyde.

SPEAKER_01

That's four of them.

SPEAKER_00

All that's left is Scooby-Doo.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, not Scooby.

SPEAKER_00

And Shaggy comments how you know all that's missing is a spooky organ. And then we hear spooky organ music.

SPEAKER_01

It's not missing anymore. Nope.

SPEAKER_00

They follow the music. They find an organ and some sheet music. Right. In which the sheet music says feed the piano and watch the floor.

SPEAKER_01

That's oddly specific.

SPEAKER_00

If anyone's gonna be fed around there, it's gonna be shaggy.

SPEAKER_01

And Scooby.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

They both gotta be fed.

SPEAKER_00

And you can't feed a piano. No. But you can play one.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Which entitles Scooby to go run off and get all dressed up.

SPEAKER_00

Scooby goes, gets dressed up to play the organ. Yep. You know, everyone else is watching the floor. When the walls start closing in on them like Death Star Trash Compactor. You shouldn't watch the floor, you need to watch the walls. Yeah. You know. Scooby hides in the piano bench when he's told to keep playing. Maybe it'll stop the walls.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

And eventually Scooby keeps playing and they do eventually stop.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Daphne remarks that she's not in the mood for musical riddles. And that's when Velma decides to use her brain and realize that it's not feed the piano, it's the musical notes F, E, E, and D.

SPEAKER_01

Hmm, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_00

That playing those in that order opens up a trapdoor in the floor.

SPEAKER_01

Huh.

SPEAKER_00

They go down into the secret room.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And they find five coffins. Five by the four of them are closed with one smaller one.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_00

That's dog-shaped size.

SPEAKER_01

Drog raped.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. That one's open.

SPEAKER_01

It's open. What does that mean? Means he's not in it.

SPEAKER_00

And then the other coffin's open. And it's full of the relatives.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no.

SPEAKER_00

You know, they hear some cackling and chain rattling. And it's the Phantom Shadow.

SPEAKER_01

Not the Phantom Shadow.

SPEAKER_00

Who is a green ghost?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, why did they pick green?

SPEAKER_00

And there's two of them.

SPEAKER_01

Two of them?

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I thought one was bad. No, we got two of them to deal with.

SPEAKER_00

Well, Scooby faints from the fear.

SPEAKER_01

Of course.

SPEAKER_00

You know, and they pick up Scooby and run off, but he gets smacked on the edge of a door. And Shagyi tries bribing him with a Scooby snack to wake him up.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Scooby then picks him up by his tail and runs off when Scooby gets up. You know. They then run around trying to avoid the ghosts. They hide up in a chandelier.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

Where the one ghost doesn't get them, but the other one opens the panel in the ceiling and cuts the chandelier down. Where they fall into a wine cellar.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Where Shaggy says, you know, they'll use the wine rack to shoot corks out at the Phantom Shadow, but not to do So until you see the green of their eyes.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

At the same time, one of them is chasing Fred and the girls who run past the phone that's ringing. Velma answers it and then gives it to the ghost.

SPEAKER_01

The ghost looks very confused as he doesn't know what's going on. And then he hangs up. Whoever called, we're sorry they didn't reach you. Sorry, he hung up on you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. We cut back to Shaggy and Scooby, who are now on a tandem bicycle.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

That is built for four people.

SPEAKER_01

Four people.

SPEAKER_00

With the other two spots being taken up by the two ghosts.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, the ghosts know how to pedal a bike with their dirty feet? Yeah. So they do have dirty feet then. I guess so. I guess so. How else would they be able to do that?

SPEAKER_00

Um Shaggy and Scooby then dress up in some fancy dance getup stuff. Shaggy's got like a fancy dress shirt on and Scooby's in a like a pilgrim outfit? Yeah, like a pink pilgrim dress.

SPEAKER_01

How did we maybe that's what he had?

SPEAKER_00

Yep. You know, they put on a record to basically dance with the ghosts. Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Swing your partner.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Shaggy puts in the musical code for the organ. Yep. And they drop the ghosts down the door.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty elaborate. Pretty elaborate there.

SPEAKER_00

They meet up with the girls, and you know, they remark how Shaggy has green stuff on his hands.

SPEAKER_01

How'd that happen?

SPEAKER_00

Well, he's an expert gardener. When you're a novice gardener, you'll have the green thumb. When you're an expert, you've got green hands.

SPEAKER_01

Well, at least his feet aren't green because then he would consider dirty.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. No, he got it from Dancing with the Green Ghosts.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay. That makes a little more sense.

SPEAKER_00

That gives Fred an idea for a trap. Ooh, a trap. Pretty much. Out, you know, on the inside of a door.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

They suds up the walkway to a spring-loaded ironing board.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That when the ghosts step through the door, they flip on a fan, they'll slide on the suds onto the ironing board, which will spring them into a wash machine.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That I mean hopefully it works. They test it with Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And it works without a pitch.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And now this is where it goes off the rails.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty much.

SPEAKER_00

Because. Let's take. Who do you think is the bait for this episode?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I was thinking it was gonna be Scooby and Shaggy, but apparently I'm wrong.

SPEAKER_00

It's the Hey no, it's Fred and the girls who are the bait for this episode.

SPEAKER_01

Why would you let Shaggy and Scooby handle the equipment? Is he an expert equipment handler?

SPEAKER_00

We'll never know.

SPEAKER_01

We'll never know.

SPEAKER_00

Because, you know, you know, Fred says that he and the girls were lure the ghosts in.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

But right now it makes sense for it to be Scooby because the ghosts are after Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Right, yeah. Why wouldn't it have been Scooby?

SPEAKER_00

But they put Scooby in charge of the fan.

SPEAKER_01

Which wasn't a good idea.

SPEAKER_00

That when Daphne remarks, here they come now, after Scooby was told when he hears now to turn everything on, he turns it on.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

But in reverse.

SPEAKER_01

So you're telling me he took a page out of Daphne's.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. And so he basically the fan he's by sucks the washing machine and springboard to him that turns it into a flying washing machine.

unknown

A flying washing.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, you just can't make this stuff up.

SPEAKER_00

We then end up chasing after the ghosts who take an elevator to flee into the secret tunnel. Yep. So they go out the window. Shaggy comments that he can't steer it, but manages to steer it into said tunnel.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Chasing the ghost back into the elevator. Or you know, they go up. You know, they go back up. Ghosts are then sliding down a railing. Shaggy and Scooby go past the railing at the bottom of it, and they catch the ghosts, and they're all washed up. Ooh, they're all washed up. Alright. Yep. You know, we then find out that the ghosts are Mr. Creeps and Mr. Crawls, the lawyers. Oh boy, that's you know, when which the plan was they scare off everybody from the island so they could keep the money. Well, because Scooby's the only one left, Scooby inherits one million dollars.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, they're rich.

SPEAKER_00

In Confederate money.

SPEAKER_01

What?

SPEAKER_00

Making that useless.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. So we spent the night in a house that wasn't even haunted, and we don't even get the money.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we then see a flying bone that does not scare Scooby. No, that's good. Who then proceeds to eat it.

SPEAKER_01

That's one thing that we can do.

SPEAKER_00

And then we end the episode.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, it's it's very interesting that it's Confederate money at the end.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because now I've got a couple of questions.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. You know?

SPEAKER_00

Is this, you know, with the Civil War memorabilia.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And the fact that the million dollars is all in Confederate money.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

You know. Is Coolesville in like a southern state?

SPEAKER_01

It might be.

SPEAKER_00

You know. I know there have been many depictions of where it's like either in like Ohio or California. I almost wonder, could you actually be in Florida?

SPEAKER_01

They could be. In fact, they're on the water.

SPEAKER_00

They're on the water, like you know.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a body of water.

SPEAKER_00

There's a lot of Confederate stuff going on in Scooby too.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

You know, yeah. This episode, you know, this Confederate stuff with this episode, Shaygy's Confederate uncle in Scooby-Doo meets the Boo Brothers. Right. On top of it's like, you know, and the fact that the Confederate money being worthless is just something that kind of ages so well because you know, it is, you know, I did look it up. Like, okay, what is Confederate what would Confederate money be worth these days? And it's like a lot of it's dependent upon year it was printed.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And how good of a condition it's in.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And essentially it's really only worth like what a collector would pay for it.

SPEAKER_01

So it's in the eye of the beholder, basically.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty much. Because it's because where the Amer where the US dollar you know is essentially backed by gold. Right. When the Confederates started printing their own currency, they didn't have it backed by anything. It was more or less like a prom, you know, we promise we will pay you back when we win the war.

SPEAKER_01

Right, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Which, as we all know, they didn't.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, it's very interesting that, you know, million dollars in Confederate money, it's like That isn't really Basically, it's like a million dollars in Monopoly money.

SPEAKER_01

Yay, monopoly money. Yay.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I think I'll do that when I die.

SPEAKER_01

Make it all in Monopoly money.

SPEAKER_00

I'll have a I'll write up a will where these people have to spend a night in a haunted house for one million dollars. That'll turn out to be monopoly money.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. We need to find like Scooby-Doo Monopoly money. That would be perfect. We need to look to see if there's an actual Scooby-Doo Monopoly game.

SPEAKER_00

There is a Scooby-Doo Monopoly game.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, there is.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I almost got that for my dad one year for either his birthday or Father's Day. I ended up going with Scooby-Doo Clue.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, you should have gone for Monopoly.

SPEAKER_00

Clue's more fun.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

unknown

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

And I think Clue fits the Scooby-Doo aesthetic a little bit better.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Trust you on this one.

SPEAKER_00

But now we get to the fun responsibilities.

SPEAKER_01

Yay, the fun responsibilities. Yay.

SPEAKER_00

So the Scooby Snack intake.

SPEAKER_01

We have it this time, guys. Yes, I remembered it this week. We remembered it this week. Alright.

SPEAKER_00

Which is helpful because we actually had a Scooby Snack this week.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it is helpful, so it does make sense.

SPEAKER_00

So we are now at 142 Scooby Snacks. Yay. One shaggy snack. Yep. And one hero sandwich. Woo-hoo. Which brings it to approximately eight, almost nine Scooby Snacks per episode. Wow, that's crazy. Which is still more than the six that they had for.

SPEAKER_01

Right, that was weird. Unless it was just for that specific the four or something, but then it's like six per episode. I don't know where they get Yeah. Because it was on that tape.

SPEAKER_00

Unless they didn't count the full boxes. I'll redo the math when we get to the end of the series. See what it's looking like. But that is one fun thing done. Yep. On to the next one, guys. Yes. So now we will go to the Scooby Zone Manifest of Monsters.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, the Manifest of Monsters.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. At 19, we've got Frankenstein's monster.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

At 18, we've got the Ape Man.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

Number 9 is the Werewolf. 8 is Charlie the Robot. Yep. 7 is the Ghost Clown.

unknown

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

6 is Redbeard the Pirate. 5 is Pietro the Puppet Master. Or the Cloaked Cavalier.

SPEAKER_01

Cloaked Cavalier. I love that. I love saying that.

SPEAKER_00

4 is the Franken Vampire.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Number 3 is the Space Kook.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Number 2 is the Zombie.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

And number one, best ghost is the ghost of Elias Kingston.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

So where would you put the Phantom Shadows?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, they're pr I mean they're pretty good. They actually get them.

SPEAKER_00

Number one.

SPEAKER_01

You want to put them as well? I think that they okay.

SPEAKER_00

Hear me out.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. All right. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Zombie got Shaggy and Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Elias Kinston got Shaggy off-screen.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Phantom Shadows got four relatives off-screen. That is true. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. I I see your reasoning. Okay. And we don't know how the colonel how Colonel Boregard died. For all we know, they could have had a hand in that.

SPEAKER_01

They could have, because they wanted the Confederate money, even though it wasn't worth anything. Because somehow they Yeah, I I wow, someone beat the ghosts of Elias Kingston?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's some wow, I wasn't thinking that was gonna happen, but you know, I mean, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I had a feeling that they were just because of what this episode's all tied to.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

You know, this is for good. But now we'll move to the Fred Jones failure files.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_00

At 16, you've got the tapestry. Yep. 15 is the slide.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

14 is the instant suds.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

13 is the dog stampede.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

12 is the biplane homicide attack.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

11 is Scooby tying up legs, like uh like tying up an at-at.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, like tying up an at-at. That's awesome. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

10 is just, you know, bashing the ghost with a drumming tube after it's after he's fallen. Yeah, folding.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Nine is a wind tunnel.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Eight is a crate and a giant acme magnet.

SPEAKER_01

Acme magnet. Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Seven is a mirror.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Six is playing basketball with a lawnmower.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely sounds like a safety hazard, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Five is an automatic pogo stick.

SPEAKER_01

It's a jackhammer.

SPEAKER_00

Four is dropping a chandelier on a werewolf.

SPEAKER_01

Which is very effective, apparently.

SPEAKER_00

Three is special effects. Two is a better mouse trap. And one is just smacking the ghost into an armored car as a money pit.

SPEAKER_01

As a money pit.

SPEAKER_00

So, where would you put flying washing machine?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, it actually is a even though there is a lot of shenanigans with it, it's actually a really good trap, believe it or not. I mean, I actually think it's it almost goes like on with a better mousetrap. Like it's almost I think it's actually I think it's better than a better mousetrap. Like it's right under a I think it's right above a better mousetrap. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. No, is it better than the money pit?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it's better.

SPEAKER_00

I mean No, because it's that they were able to ungoof Scooby.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So yeah, but yep. So I thought it'd be better than a better mousetrap.

unknown

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh. Something beat out a better mousetrap? Yeah. That's unbelievable.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, the money pit beat it out too.

SPEAKER_01

Well, right, but I mean, you know. But still. Yeah. Something beat it out a bit.

SPEAKER_00

Good showing this week.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Now all that's left is how many snacks does this one bring to the table of snacks.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I mean, this was like a really good, like I mean, I didn't want like this was one I didn't really watch that much, but it's like a really classic episode.

SPEAKER_00

Like it's actually like a decent one. And oh, this, you know, is only tangential to it.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

But the fact that, you know, this was the episode that they used for supernatural.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

So it's like I don't want to say like that bumps it up like a full you know placement.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

But like so, even but even taking that out of consideration, right? You know, I still think that this is a five episode.

SPEAKER_01

I think so too. I definitely would agree.

SPEAKER_00

So hey, we've got another five.

SPEAKER_01

Another five. That's three of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and we had two within two weeks of pretty much, apparently. Yeah. All right. Alright. I think that just about wraps up today, you know, this week's episode of Scooby-Doo. I think so too. And so we will be back next week with a special treat for you all.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely a special treat.

SPEAKER_00

Where instead of watching an episode of Scooby-Doo Where Are You, we will be watching season 13, episode 16 of Supernatural titled Scooby Natural.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So excited for this one, guys. It's gonna be a good one.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. So we will be back then. And just remember, they would have gotten away with it too. If it weren't for those meddling kids.
