A Tragedy That Changed Dentistry
SPEAKER_00The day I was supposed to open doors, something really tragic happened and we got a phone call at midnight and my brother ended up having a heart attack. Bleedy gums are an alarm bell. It is an alarm bell that something is wrong in your body. It's just a tip of the iceberg. It's not even the full story.
SPEAKER_02There's all these hiding places. Hidden infections, I can tell you, make people sick unknowing. I almost lost my teeth because I had so much mercury in my mouth. All right, live from Cannes, France. Okay, I know. You go to your dentist when you have pain. Am I right? Okay, not after this interview. You're gonna go to live longer, healthy, and change your life. And I'm here with Dr. Nami Patel, who says just that. I took the words out of your mouth.
SPEAKER_00You did. The mouth is your longevity medicine. So important and such a pleasure to be here with you. Uh, you know, you've always been somebody I've admired, and your energy is contagious. Likewise.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, likewise. I mean, we were just we're here in beautiful can. I mean, you know, we we have great. Well, we're both in can. A lot of people around us are jet lagged because they just got in today, but you and I were smarter than that. We adjusted for a few days. Yeah, so we're we're gonna have all kinds of energy. But, you know, this is uh a topic I love, right? Get that on there. You guys gonna be mad. Okay, she took the mic off. Okay. Um but you know, I the mouth is something I I am the number one referral for biological dentistry because I know that this causes chronic disease. This is why people age prematurely and it affects people's lives, and they've spent thousands of dollars biohacking on supplements, all these different things, all these different surgeries, botox, all that. It's like, no, if you just fix this, it'll fix you. And we won't ask her how old she is, but my gosh, she looks amazing. So, you know, I uh the the Indian culture, you know, I don't think the age is, you know, that you got an advantage. We'll say that. All right, but you know, I want to start somewhere that I haven't started because I interviewed a few dentists today. Um, but the gums.
Bleeding Gums As An Alarm
SPEAKER_02The gums. I have had, I just recently had a gentleman, I'm on the phone with him, and he's chasing his symptoms, and he had the means to go all over the world. And he said to me, you know, I I don't even know how he why he said it or what I asked, but he said, you know, I can't even brush my teeth. I they bleed. My gums bleed. And immediately I realized most of his problems right here. Speak to it.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. So bleeding gums are an alarm bell. It is an alarm bell that something is wrong in your body. I come from Ayurveda, where we diagnose the diseases through the mouth. And I've been fortunate enough to learn about oral microbiome. We can now specifically test the specific bacteria that are related to chronic illnesses like heart attack, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's, arthritis. And really, really being able to see bleedy gums is the tip of the iceberg. Yeah. It's just a tip of the iceberg. It's not even the full story. It just tells us that there is a problem. When we dig deeper, when we go down to the cellular energy, we will see that this body has a lot of toxic burden. There is a lot of stuff going on with this person. Their system's overloaded, they have a lot of toxins in their system. And those bleedy gums are saying start here because that is the root. Starting in the mouth and starting here, I always say the mouth is longevity medicine.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And your mouth is the best thing you can ever invest into. Because if you get this right, you will get everything else right. Starting with, I like to start with the airway because air is the one thing you can't live without. We got to breathe. Can't live on Mars, right? We got to be in beautiful cons.
SPEAKER_02Yep. That's right. Yeah, because oxygen without enough, you're forming disease. You're aging prematurely. I don't care. And but yet the breathing, the airway, it starts here and people don't understand the topic.
SPEAKER_00And it also causes bleedy gums if you have a dry mouth. So if our mouth is super dry, the first thing that'll happen is we'll get bleedy gums because when the mouth is dry, we talked about all those bacteria that develop. All those bacteria are growing in a dry environment. That dry environment actually acts as a growth factor. It makes a bacteria grow, grow, grow, grow, grow. I didn't know that. Yeah. And so as the bacteria grows, the first things we'll see is, oh my gosh, my gums were bleedy. And then we start with the airway. Then we go and start looking at is it gum disease? Is it these specific bacteria? And when we look at that, we also want to look at the gums, the gut, and the glimphs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Because we'll talk about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We want to make that connection. Yeah. And then we also want to look at is it is it bleeding because there's some hidden infection? Is it failed root canal? Is it a cavitation? Um, is it a cavity that's been happening for a long time? Is there an open contact? So that bleeding gum is really a red sign, a stop sign for you to sit down and say, let me really take a look. Let me dive in, not just superficial cavity, but really let's go deeper and see what is this telling me? What is the mouth telling me about my body that I may not have been thinking of?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, in particular, I mean, your gums tell a lot. I mean, I I'm not a dentist, but I can, I'm talking to people and you start noticing not just their teeth, beautiful teeth, but I notice their gums because that's more of a reflection of someone's health in general, right? So talk about like what would someone look at for good gums, healthy gums, because even before they bleed, oftentimes you can see an unhealthy gum. And then talk about pockets where infection hides. People don't understand that pockets are a cause of
Pockets Where Infection Hides
SPEAKER_02disease in a bad gut.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. So the first thing you'll notice about someone is it'll if you go without flossing, we'll see puffiness on the gums. So a lot of times when you're around people and when you're close, you'll see puffiness in their mouth and you're wondering what's going on. Then they'll turn bright and inflamed. Yeah. Which is, like I said, a stop sign. A stop sign to help you say, stop, let me go deeper and see what's going on. And when they're bright red, that actually is telling us there's deeper pockets in there. And what pockets mean is that if there is a tooth like this, there is a surrounding bone. All right. If this is a if this is a tooth, this is a surrounding bone, and this would be the tissue. So if there is bacteria on there, it's gonna eat away the bone and you're gonna the mic's gonna fall off just like that because all the bone support is lost. And in that bone support, that bacteria sits in there, really bad snake-like bacteria, that actually go into the whole body, go into the gut, go into the brain, and cause disease.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and a lot of people, they they're trying to fix all these things, right? And they even have like chronic bad breath. And these pockets, you don't want them over three millimeters. There's a way to measure them. Do I does every dentist measure them now?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. We measure them. I would say 80% of the dentists measure them if they don't run.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, we measure the pockets and we actually take it a step further. Um, we measure their pockets, and zero to three is happy and healthy. That's where we want you to be. Anytime it's for and beyond, it's a problem. Anytime they bleed, it's a sign of infection. So we really want to check that. The second thing we do is we check the saliva. Earlier, we said if you fix a mouth, you'll fix a body. There are hidden infections that we do not know about. Many times I've found cancer patients with a beautiful mouth. I don't see anything wrong. I do their own microbiome test and I see these bad bacteria in there. And I'm wondering, this can't make any sense. Then we send them to the doctor, and then they start looking at their blood work, and of course, they discover problems.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so what what is this? Now, very few dentists measure the oral bacteria. What is the test called? And what else does it show you?
SPEAKER_00So the oral microbiome tests, the one I specifically use is called oral DNA, and I like to look at two things. The first thing I look at is your genetic risk for inflammation. I don't want to just treat you superficially, just kind of like you test all the toxins. I want to know what I am dealing with. So I am looking at this person as an individual. Is your immune system super hyperactive, not so active, or in the middle? Then I look at the specific bacteria. There's 13 species of bacteria that I'm looking for, in specific the ones that cause heart attack, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's, or arthritis. And those, once I combine those two tests together, I figure out how I'm going to treat the patient.
Oral DNA Testing Explained
SPEAKER_00So one of the things we'll find in patients with dysautonomia is that there is going to be a lot of by the way, I want to say dysautonomia.
SPEAKER_02Hold the thought. These are people who just have a lot of fatigue. A lot of people develop dysautonomia after COVID. They didn't adapt to it, and they're left just wiped out chasing their adrenals and their thyroid, and they don't feel good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and and the doctors can't give them any solutions. Yeah. Right. And so they come to us and saying, There's something wrong. My labs are normal, but I don't feel good. I need to figure out why it is that I don't feel good. And majority of the time they're not feeling good is because they have too much bacteria in their system that needs to get wiped, needs to get taken taken out. It's an infection. Let's clean it out.
SPEAKER_02But but again, I think a lot of people would be like, well, I've taken killers, I've done this, I've done that. But the problem is that they're hiding in these pockets or worse yet, cavitations, root canals, under old crowns. There's all these hiding places, hidden infections, I can tell you, make people sick unknowing.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, because they're crevices. What happens with dental restorations or cavitations or even root canals, there are areas where there's crevices in the mouth, and those crevices are magnets. Remember, when somebody has a crown, it's not a perfectly clean finish. There's cement in between, microscopic cement, and that's where all the bacteria sit and harbor and start causing these deeper pockets. And not even just uh, you know, looking at bacteria, even porcelain crowns do that. Metal crowns, we see an oxide reaction, and that is a magnet for bacteria. Yeah. We see the gum tissues recede. Literally, you lose gum tissue within five years.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. So these hidden areas of bacteria, I mean, obviously there's some restorative work that has to be there. And hopefully it's a good ceramic uh that's a better material than the metal, which causes a battery reaction. Exactly. And the plastic, forget about, meaning composite fillings, and God forbid you have an amalgam filling, right? But there's some of these other metal crowns that have nickel and other uh highly toxic chemical or uh metals in it. But so these bacteria hide in these spaces. What can people do about it?
Home Care That Actually Works
SPEAKER_02What do you s what do you do about it?
SPEAKER_00Well, the first thing I would say is definitely let's start with the home routine. That's the easiest one. Take a look in the mirror, see what the gums look like. Are they bright and shiny? Do you see stains on your teeth? What do you see when you look at the mouth? That's the first place to start. Uh start with the hygiene, electric toothbrush, definitely a water flosser.
SPEAKER_02I use both. Electric toothbrush, water flosser.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And in that water flosser, let's put a little bit of peroxide in there because peroxide is extra oxygen. So it'll actually kill off the victor.
SPEAKER_02I started with a new one. It's an ozone.
SPEAKER_00You can use ozone, absolutely. My favorite dick.
SPEAKER_02My water pick makes the ozone.
SPEAKER_00I love, love, love, love, love, love, love using that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't even lose on my mic. But yeah, no, so my water pick that I use, you know, every night. I try to use it after every meal. Sometimes I can't. But here's the thing like people say, yeah, but I floss. I'll tell you what, I will floss and use my water pick. I always get crap out of my teeth. I'm telling you. You'll do both because I can't help it. I know it's in there.
SPEAKER_00It drives me nuts. Absolutely. And you'll feel better too, right? Yeah. And then I always say, come on in, see the dentist, right?
SPEAKER_02So the first thing, okay, so that the home care should we I do all of those. I've done videos on that. That's my care. People are like, oh my gosh, it's overkill. I'm like, overkill, you kidding me? Yeah. It's like I, you know, I almost lost my teeth because I had so much mercury in my mouth. I mean, so I will never go back. Um, but you start with that bacteria test. Yeah. You know, not many people do that. So then it gives you a platform of going, wow, you're housing three bad guys that cause this, this, and this. I think that's smart for a couple of reasons. Number one, you get their attention that they have a bacteria that is known to cause heart disease. Here's the study. Because I this might be the first time people are hearing this. Certain bacteria, there is a plethora of studies linking these bacteria to specific conditions. I had a gentleman, uh, one of my neighbors say, Yeah, well, it was my rheumatoid arthritis. I mean, there's arthritis, you know, bacteria linked to arthritis.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. There's specific bacteria. And so what I like to, you know, break this down when we look at specific bacteria, we're looking at which ones and also the correlation between the patients and looking at what are their symptoms and how can we reduce it. So the test does a number of things. Let's get rid of the bacteria. Plus, we can get a customized probiotic for them. We can customize our old hygiene instructions. We can customize our care as if they should come in every three months for a cleaning, four months for a cleaning, or six months for a cleaning. So we really can be preventative health and laser-like, which is what I really like with the old microbiome test. And then I like to like layer it with the airway.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So, okay, that I mean you're taking us through your steps here, right? It's like look at the bacteria, and then we can be specific about certain treatments. And it will also allude to certain problems as well, right? Looking at the type of bacteria.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it tells us the root of it. Yeah. So earlier we talked about failed root canals or cavitation, those these hidden crevices. Really, we're able to see what is really the root of this bacteria because they're not just there, they're there for a reason. Yeah. They're coming from somewhere else. So let's look at the why. Let's what is the root of it? And then that way we can address it. Um, just like we would do with, you know, the body if we're saying that there's toxins, let's identify which toxin. Then we know which one we're gonna go after first, mold, right? Then we do the metals and then go from there. Um, so we're gonna do the same thing with the mouth and then get its roots, figure it out, and then let's get rid of it. Let's get people. Makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Okay, airway, second step. Um, and then uh tell us how you assess it first and then talk solution.
Airway First Why Breathing Matters
SPEAKER_00So uh the airway, we address it through several layers. Uh, one is going to be uh posture, because what we find is there's forward head posture for a lot of patients. Um we do a C B C T scan, we look at the tongue position, uh, where the tongue is and what size the windpipe is, and we look at the sinus cavity, which a lot of people miss because in a lot of chronic illnesses, the sinus is the problem because our bodies are designed to work. If the sinus has fluid-filled stuff because somebody had braces when they were younger and their sinus wasn't developed, this is gonna have a lot of health issues. So as a dentist, uh, I'm gonna want to go look at that. I want to get rid of that, and I wanna make sure how can I expand this person so that we can get them breathing through the nose so that their bodies can function really well. Now, my favorite way of fixing this problem is actually there's uh sometimes if the sinuses are fine, we just uh do an appliance that gives more tongue space. Sometimes there's a tongue tie, and so we have to work on releasing the tongue.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we really like the tongue tie release because it really helps our nervous system.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let's let's talk about the tongue tie because some people talked about airway, but they didn't address the tongue tie, and I I okay, so let me explain what it is.
Tongue Tie Basics And Fixes
SPEAKER_02People should be able to touch with their mouth open, touch the roof of their mouth with their tongue.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I have a slight tongue tie, which I haven't fixed yet, but I'm about this close to the top, which is decent, but yeah, that's the idea. Here's how you test it. Well that my jaw has to close a little bit. I'm a little f that far away. Okay. So a tongue tie is but some people are like really far. You can't really far.
SPEAKER_00They're halfway.
SPEAKER_02And those are the people that literally their tongue is obstructing the airway, the tongue is obstructing the airway. So, how do you fix a tongue tie? It's easy to assess. We just did that.
SPEAKER_00So we fix tongue ties through two ways. One is that we want your body to learn its functions. So we work with a myofunctional therapist, a therapist that personally customizes exercises based on your CT scan. Then we do a tongue tie release with a laser. We use a cold laser. And the reason why we like cold laser is because it is healing, it is quick. It's painless, it's very comfortable. We do a tongue tie release, and then we work with the myofunctional therapist again so that once that tongue is released, we know how to use it properly. We know where to do it. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I've had this tongue tied, I can't talk ever since. Yeah, so but I have watched kids as an example, and it affects adults equally. But kids, their behavior change, ADD change, because it's it's not that their tongue is better, it's affecting their neurology. Explain.
Houston Seminar Invitation
Dr PompaJoin me live in Houston in October 16th through the 18th. First time ever, doing a public seminar for 20 years doing doctor seminars. That's why I'm really excited about this. Look, for my followers, people looking for an answer, want to know more about mold illness, want to know more about heavy metal toxicity, want to know more about hormone conditions, thyroid conditions, and even find what's wrong with you. Well, that's what we're doing at the seminar. Oh, yeah, you're gonna take the very test, something called a visual contrast sensitivity that can look for something called biotoxic illness. You're gonna fill out our AI version of our neurotoxic assessment that all my doctors use. Okay, because we're going to involve you in the discovery. Why? Because people are looking for answers. So I said, if I'm doing a seminar, I want people to experience what I do, what I've been teaching. And look, of course, we're gonna have amazing teachers. We're gonna have breakouts on these topics, right? You're gonna hear breakouts about weight loss resistance, health in children, you're gonna hear breakouts about mold, how to build homes safely, what you need to do in your home to make it safe. We're gonna be blowing the lid off of some of these topics that really nobody's talking about is causative factors for why so many people are sick. I'm gonna put a link below. All the details are there. But it is October 16th through the 18th in Houston. People are flying in from all over the world. So can you. Look, you want answers? Uh answers that you're never gonna hear at another seminar. Come to this one, you're gonna be blown away. Check it out.
Vagus Tone Sleep And Oxygen
SPEAKER_00So when the tongue is um at the roof of the palate, we actually activate the vagus tone uh vagus tone. So as the vagus nerve is activated, our body goes from fight or flight to rest and digest and has a massive impact. Uh children who have ADHD are able to sleep better. So that sleeping is really important for ADHD because uh when people are not able to sleep, their brains can't poop. And so if the brains are not allowed to poop, they're gonna be a little grumpy all day and hard to focus. Um, so when the tongue is at the roof of the palate, um, you're able to sleep better because the tongue is in the right position, the functional airway is open and uh we wake up with energy, excitement, and feeling really good. And that neurology is key because not only is your tongue in the right place when you're going to sleep, but when you're standing up. Um, if you ever notice if you need a moment of confidence, the tongue just goes to the roof of the palate and you take a nice deep breath. In fact, when we go to the medical doctor if we have anxiety, they tell you to breathe.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Breathe. It's okay, just breathe. Yeah. What does that mean when you can't? But um, yeah, so but again, it can also be obstructive to airway. Then the brain's not getting enough oxygen, and then that every problem you just said even gets worse. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And, you know, that is also we we say the mouth is a root of problems. The reason being is oral microbiome being off, the functional airway being off. Those are really problematic. If we can get those two right, get out of hidden infections, our bodies are actually designed to work really well. We've done it for billions of years.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Uh, no doubt. Remove the interferences, God designed our bodies to heal. And by the way, the infection can drive inflammation, oral inflammation, and create a lot of airway obstruction in itself. So you can't look at one without the other as causative.
SPEAKER_00Yep. We can't. We have to look at it as a whole system. And that's why we like looking at systems. Um, and the reason why we look at the mouth is because if we get the mouth, we know that our head and body, they control everything. If we get this right, because the mouth also controls all the cranial nerves.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It controls the entire body functions, our digestion. If we can get all of that right, then we can really honestly go back to the basics.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, it's it's so true. This is why I'm the number one referral of, you know, because in fact, you're my one number one referral.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't know if you knew that.
SPEAKER_02She's in San Francisco, but because POMPA program, we have people all over the country. And it's hard for us to find the right dentists. You know, we have a make sure that they're doing the right thing. Just because someone calls themselves a biological dentist, I have learned they're used it's kind of in vogue right now. So they're using that. As a marketing tool. So they're not necessarily a real biological dentist. If they're assessing airway, that's a kind of a biological dentist that's taking it to the next level because not a lot do airway, but I hope more and more.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And you know, the hidden infections are are really the missing link. Really, I mean, that should be the basics. Every dentist should be looking at back. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because who else is?
SPEAKER_00Exactly. It's an act of infection. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02No one else is going to uh you know really look at that. So dentistry has to look at airway, and it's a massive issue. Do you believe in mouth taping?
Mouth Taping And 3D Expansion
SPEAKER_00Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Mouth taping is is the beginning. It's the when I it's like brushing and flossing. We should all mouth tape so that we breathe better through the nose.
SPEAKER_02Um and especially if But what but what if someone has a major obstruction and then you're mouth taping and going, gosh, I break my tape off. Okay, I've had this happen.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, it's time to go see a functional dentist or a biological dentist.
SPEAKER_02Because yeah, you have to get to the cause, right? It's like, you know, you can train someone who doesn't have an issue, train them with mouth taping to breathe through their nose. But the fact is, is some people are breathing through their mouth because they have a deeper rooted problem.
SPEAKER_00They do. And that's one of the biggest reasons why, you know, earlier we talked about the mouth as longevity medicine. And the real reason I say that is taking it even a step further, we can actually expand your 3D nasal volume through dentistry. And what that does is helps you increase your VO2 max. And VO2 max, as we know, is a sign of true health.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Meaning you're getting you, first of all, every bit of exercise gets easier, but you're getting more oxygen into your tissues. And that's that really is health. Remember, cancer doesn't form in oxygen-rich environments. So a higher VO2 max. Is it true that is better? Is it true that when you nose breathe, you stimulate something called nitric oxide, which creates vasodilation?
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. So nitric oxide is your BFF. We like oxygen, but oxygen actually converts a nitric oxide that our body actually uses. And then nitric oxide is a number of things, a vasodilates for sure, but it also scavenges cancer cells. It also fights all the bacteria that cause a heart attack, diabetes, cancer, and things that we talked about. It helps your body detox. Um, and it also is really important in your gut. So we know our gut is our immune system. So if we have really good nitric oxide, we're gonna have good health. And that's the reason we find that patients who have gut problems have a mouth. They probably had teeth extracted when they were younger or had braces when they were younger and have sinus issues.
SPEAKER_02Let's talk about that because a lot of people are like, well, wait a minute, what did she just say there? Um, you just kind of glossed over a big deal. Most people hearing this had braces as a kid. We're learning now that that's problematic. What is the future of orthodonistry? But talk about that.
SPEAKER_00Well, the future of orthodonistry needs to be expansion. Uh one of the things that happens Meaning making room. Yes, making more room for that tongue. We want tongue. You know, people always say it's about the base, it's all about the tongue.
SPEAKER_02Okay, got it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So the tongue is really important. And the reason why the tongue is really important is number one is as the tongue sits, you have the upper arch and the lower arch. Upper arch, when we have wide upper arches, we have good nose breathing. When we have wide lower arches, our windpipes are really open. So our life force is really open. Our tongue resting at the roof of the palate really activates that basal uh tone that we really want. And orthodontics needs to focus on expansion, expansion, expansion, making the room contraction, contraction, contractions, which is what it has done.
SPEAKER_02So in the in the past, they would many people are like, that happened to me. They pulled pulled two teeth, and then to your point, they squeeze it in, exact opposite of what you're s saying.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And even wisdom teeth. We don't want to pull wisdom teeth. We don't want to pull any teeth. Right. In fact, we want to create more space. We want our jaw structures to be in the proper place. We want nice wide jaws, you know? Yeah, there's a reason why people like Brad Pitt.
SPEAKER_02Those wide jaws are very Yeah, we're attracted to health. We are, right? It's like, and that is health, right? You know, people don't think narrow is
Cavitations After Wisdom Teeth
SPEAKER_02not good. Uh you mentioned wisdom teeth, let's go there, because many people got their wisdom teeth out. It's an estimate, I'm sure, but 80-some percent of wisdom teeth extracted end up later with these hidden infections that ruin people's lives. Talk about it.
SPEAKER_00So cavitations are really what it is, is unhealed bone. And what happens is I had my wisdom teeth extracted when I was younger. Um, and so earlier I mentioned to you that we looked at people's genetic wrist for.
SPEAKER_02I had two extracted, I had cavitations in both.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So looking at how the body heals, if we don't give our bodies the right nutrients to heal, it's not going to heal fine. Um, so what happens is those areas of dead bone that are not given the right nutrients to heal, over a period of time, they keep decaying, decaying, decaying, brewing more bacteria, brewing more bacteria, brewing more bacteria, overburdening the body, and then it leads to chronic illnesses. And so what we do as dentists is number one, identify them on a CBCT or a pano, and then we go in and remove that dead bone area. We place ozone PRP, which is uh blood cells, to help our body regenerate, remo make that bone tissue to be healthy. So it's not this hidden infection that is overburdening the body, but really we're taking out something that's dead and we're bringing it life and we're bringing it the proper bone structure that we need.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. One of the issues that we see is people that are unhealthy have trouble forming bone, oftentimes even after a surgery. So a lot of the techniques that I I can tell you, you know, I've been in long conversations with biological dentists about is like, yeah, how do we build vertical bone? It's not easy, right? That's why you have a cavitation in the first place. I've watched people with large cavitations have to get it done multiple times. The way we're doing it now is better. So um it's not easy.
SPEAKER_00No, it's not easy, and it's really important to have the bone healing protocol. Um, the bone healing protocol is really crucial four weeks before you start the cavitation surgery and four weeks after. The reason being is that, you know, bone people in our program, we make them do it because we've learned. Yes, and the the bone, we have to heal properly. It's a major surgery, and we're creating one of the most important structures that supports our entire body, bone structure is really critical. And so the bone healing protocol is absolutely absolutely. We have to get our entire system ready. Of course, detox our food, uh, making sure that we're eating the right foods. Uh, intermittent fasting is usually what I recommend for the patients. Making sure that we're having good vitamin, uh vitamin C infusions, uh, really huge for having the entire body work much better. Uh, ton of supplements that really help with making the bone work better, including even boron, um, which is supposed to be boring, but it's not.
SPEAKER_02Boron needs bone needs boron.
SPEAKER_00Bone needs boron.
SPEAKER_02It actually helps assimilate other uh minerals.
SPEAKER_00Cofactors, yes, absolutely. And so it's really um important to go through the entire process correctly. And so even with cavitation, you can't just go to anybody who says, Oh, let me do cavitations or I do ozone.
SPEAKER_03No. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, really want to look at practitioners who are specialized in this because it's a major surgery.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's uh and it requires attention and it requires healing, and it requires your body to slow down and it requires you to pep before and after.
SPEAKER_02A lot of people are vitamin D deficient, vitamin K2 deficient, both of those are required to shuttle calcium in that we need for bone. Even if you're taking it, you won't absorb it if you're deficient, and so many are.
SPEAKER_00And pretty much everyone is deficient in vitamin D3 and K.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but because uh you know, people run from the sun, number one. Oh, we're not running today. Um and um but and then K2 because they're eating grass-fed nothing. And that's where you find it.
SPEAKER_00In in in San Francisco, everyone's uh a tech nerd, so everyone's on their computers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they never leave. Not in the sun and they're eating processed foods. Exactly. Yeah, so yeah, San Francisco, that is the tech capital, I guess, right? So it really is. So what is like okay, we we're bringing it back to um aging or you know, aging faster than normal or de-aging?
Cortisol Metals And Mercury Burden
SPEAKER_02Out of all the oral problems you see, what do you think ages people the worst, the fastest?
SPEAKER_00What ages people the fastest? Honestly, the answer to that is actually gonna be non-dental. It's gonna be cortisol.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Stress, right?
SPEAKER_02But wouldn't you argue, though, that um no mouth breathers, they're running high cortisol because of disonophic.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna bring it to that. That's perfect. Uh that's exactly what I was gonna bring it up to, uh, which was really uh, you know, the cortisol is our number one problem. And people wouldn't correlate cortisol to dentistry. Um, and that cortisol comes in many forms, of course, infections, uh, bleedy gums, uh the airway. Um, all of those are things that increase subconscious stress into our bodies. We're used to thinking about the conscious stress, but dentistry is the subconscious stress.
SPEAKER_02Exactly, which always concerns me more. Uh people are like, yeah, I'm not stressed out. I'm like, well, you might be and not know it, you know, because infection here, hidden infection, causes so much stress on the nerve system. Opposing metals. I remember when I I got my I had two gold crowns, and I still had silver in. It was causing galvanism, which is an electrical current. I remember getting the gold out, and that wasn't even the most toxic part of my mouth, right? The silver was. But when I got that out, I remember this level of anxiety coming off. Like I can't even describe it. I th I thought for a week I was healed. I mean, just because what was happening is this this electrical current, my brain didn't like it. When they took the opposing metal out, just one of them, I lost a lot of my battery effect. It was still there because I still had other metal. But that opposing metal thing was horrible.
SPEAKER_00You know, that's very common. Actually, a lot of patients sometimes uh, you know, get headaches and they're not understanding where the headaches are coming from. And it turns out they have metal on metal. Yeah. Um, or sometimes like even nerve-like root canal pain, and they're not understanding where that's coming from. And actually, they go to a conventional dentist who says everything is fine, you're crazy, you're making this up. There's nothing wrong with your mouth. And then when we look inside their mouth, we see um materials that are not biocompatible, they're incompatible, they're toxic, they don't need to be in the mouth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely. So multiple problems. I know when you have this galvanic reaction where, like I said, I had silver fillings 50% mercury, and then I had the gold. And it could have been a crown with you know does not matter. Doesn't matter, but it makes the mercury out of the filling come out 10 times faster than normal. It pours out.
SPEAKER_03It leaches out.
SPEAKER_02And maybe that was also part of my thing because the it's probably slowed down that mercury coming out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Mercury toxicity is is a real big issue, and it is um unfortunately can't tell why, because there's so many symptoms that go with mercury toxic. Neurotoxins, of course. Sometimes patients come with a lot of gut issues, actually, for mercury as well. That's their number one indicator. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_02You know, versus You'll never fix it.
SPEAKER_00Yes, exactly. They try and they try and they try and they've spent thousands of dollars, and you know, they're just I don't know why it's they go from one practitioner to another practitioner. Um, and then finally they come at our doorstep and you get the mercury out, you start a chelation process, and it's like 90 days later, actually four to six weeks later, we see start seeing them feel better.
SPEAKER_02But don't do IV chelation, okay? So I teach against spikers. Yeah, exactly. Well, and you know, I don't also oral chelators, but you have to use them in their half-life. I have a whole system for that. But um so the um the you know, this whole thing of you know aging from our mouth. We we talked about obviously toxic materials, right? I mean, they're going, they're really close to your brain, it's affecting the microbiome, the two brains that will, you know, absolutely decimate your health. We talked about um airway, and we talked now about infection. So, I mean, those three things are something that will, I don't care what you do, I don't care how many stem cells you take or whatever you're doing to de-age, you're gonna age faster.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And and that's what I always say too is instead of adding peptides and instead of adding all these things, just like you talk about taking the toxins out and giving it the right nutrients, I say the same with the mouth. Take all the toxic stuff out, start breathing really well, and go on a maintenance system. It's much better for you. That's the best way to biohack yourself or really biooptimize yourself, is really less is more. And that is an important message people need to hear nowadays in the day of Instagram when there's so many supplements are being sold to us as a magic pill.
SPEAKER_02It's so true. And in GLP1, uh a magical like you know, most weight loss resistance is because of the stuff we're talking about. Toxic effects, the cells hearing the hormone. When your cells can't hear the hormone, I don't care how many hormones you take, how much biohacks you do, you will not feel well.
SPEAKER_00Exactly, and it will not work. Absolutely. Absolutely and you won't lose weight. And exactly. Um, and I, you know, we I wonder what the world would think of. We did less. We started being conscious of our daily behaviors, our daily lifestyles, and started being conscious of what we do on a daily basis, watching our food, watching the toxins, watching our environment, um, making sure we ask questions before material goes inside our mouth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
Building A Better Dental Practice
SPEAKER_02So I I have to ask this question, you know, what brought you into this? Meaning you didn't learn any of this in dental school.
SPEAKER_00Oh gosh. Dental school taught me not to kill somebody. Yeah. In fact, they told us we're dentists, not real doctors. Um, and I actually went to a really good dental school. And uh the reason um it did help me with one thing, which was learning to think critically. So I learned I went to USC, and the whole idea was behind like Harvard's program, like attending work. It would only give us one piece of information and you had to extrapolate and figure out what was wrong. So that's a one good thing they taught me. And as I got out of dental school, I started working. Um, I walked out of my interviews because I could not see myself. They gave me one instrument to do a cleaning where the pockets of bacteria live. I couldn't even clean properly because all they wanted to do was make money on the hour. Um, I that was not me. So I started my own startup and I had to really think about what is it that I wanted to stand for. So I actually built the first green practice. Yeah, the so we have um leaders in energy and environmental design really looking at our environment, making sure we don't have toxins in our environments. So I started that practice, and then that year, actually, the year that I actually opened my practice, literally the day I was supposed to open doors, something really tragic happened. And we got a phone call at midnight, and my brother was in India traveling, and then he ended up having a heart attack.
SPEAKER_03And how old was he?
SPEAKER_00He was 33 years old.
SPEAKER_03How many years ago was this?
SPEAKER_00Uh this was 20 years ago. And so shocked. So like didn't make any sense. And I thought about doctors, he had gone to the medical doctor and he was complaining of acid reflux and they were like, You're fine, it's no big deal. Take you know, just take more milk, you'll be okay. He had seen an oral surgeon two weeks prior, uh, and the oral surgeon said he was fine, there's no problems, he got his wisdom teeth out, no problem whatsoever. And I knew there was something wrong, like I could just feel it in my system that there's no way that he had gone to an oral maxoviocial surgeon, also an emergency doctor, and none of them had taught this. And I was like, there had to be something that I could do. And so that's where my calling came for biological dentistry and holistic dentistry, really learning at what else is going on. He did have an infected root canal that was not treated. Um, as I go back and I dig more, I look at he did have sleep apnea. So as I start putting the dots together, it really made me realize that I had to change the way I practiced. And I learned and I learned and I learned. And um now I love what I do. I am so excited. Um, I really enjoy giving life to people and extending their life.
SPEAKER_02From pain to purpose. That's the name of this podcast, the Dr. Pompa podcast, from pain to purpose, and that's what you lived. You know, I I knew it. You know, you don't just jump into this type of dentistry. It's not like it brings you more money. It brings you more passion, you know, for sure, more passion. Obviously, you know, you're making a difference in people's lives. Yeah, no wonder you have you you're me you start, she starts with measuring the bacteria. And that that explains why, right there.
