Welcome to life. Finance and real estate. Where we discuss how to make smart money moves, the ever changing real estate market, and of course, things going on in life.

SPEAKER_01

Hey family, hey family, hey family. Welcome back to Life, Finance, and Real Estate with your girl, Kirby the Realtor. Listen, on this show, we don't just talk about one thing. We talk about life. We talk about finances, and yes, we talk about real estate because all three of these are connected, because your life decisions affect your money, and your money decisions affect your peace. And at the end of the day, ownership starts long before anything external shows up in your life. It starts before you buy a house, it starts before the money, the keys, the car, before the opportunity. It starts with how you manage yourself. You have to be the CFO of your life, the CEO and the CFO of your life. Now, the last couple weeks we've been having real conversations. We talked about mental health. We talked about credit building and, you know, just understanding credit. And then we even talked about stops and investing. And I told you a few weeks ago that you cannot build a strong life on a broken mind. And I don't want that to just sound good. I need you to understand what that really means because some of you are trying to make major life decisions from a place of exhaustion. And I know you are because I've been there. And I just want to remind you that you can't do that. You some of you are trying to make major life decisions from a place of being frustrated, from a place where your emotions are just all over the place and you can't think. And just know this when you when your emotions are unstable and when your thought process is not clear, your decisions will be inconsistent. You won't be consistent. One day you're up here, next you're down, one day you're motivated, the next day you're so overwhelmed. And y'all listen to me. I have been there, okay? And I mean, I've been there and I've been there recently. One day you're focused, the next day you don't even want to deal with anything or anybody. You hear me? I know somebody on the on here today have felt like that, or you may be feeling like that right now. And what happens is you start living your life based on how you feel instead of living your life based on what you said you were going to do. And see, that is important. If you say you're gonna do something, you have to be your own motivator at times.

SPEAKER_00

That song says, sometimes you have to encourage yourself, sometimes you have to speak victory during the test. And no matter how you feel, speak the words and you will be healed. Speak over yourself and cut yourself in the Lord.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, those are real, those are real words. You gotta speak over. You gotta speak over yourself. What you say. I have a mentor that tells me you set the tone for your day by the words and the things that you say in your affirmations. The word of God even tells you that. Be careful what you say. That tongue is powerful. You have to speak. Speak over yourself, encourage yourself because feelings are temporary, but decisions build your life. And if you're always moving based on how you feel, you will never build anything stable. Okay? If you're always moving based on how you feel, I don't feel like it today. I just ain't there today. You'll never be able to build anything stable. Let's talk about being overwhelmed because this is where a lot of people are right now. I I've found out, you know, sometimes like I will say, I'm so tired, I'm just I'm over it. I'm just over it. And having conversations with other people, um, I'm I just found out that I mean I'm not the only one that's tired and overwhelmed. There are other people dealing with this thing. Overwhelmed doesn't always look like falling apart because one day I had a conversation with someone and I began to share with them, and it was like, oh, nobody would ever know if you hadn't told me. And I'm like, yeah. They say you carry it so well. You carry it so well. But you know, in secret places, there's times where I don't want to answer the phone. I don't want to check an email. I start stuff and I can't finish it. Um, and I say I'll do it later and I keep pushing it off, you know. That's when I knew I was really, really overwhelmed. If you're not answering your calls and checking your emails and you start doing things, not finishing it, I'm gonna do it later, I'm gonna do it later. You put it off. Hey, what you don't realize is overwhelming, being overwhelmed, you're allowing being overwhelmed to kill your consistency. Because when your mind is overloaded, you stop executing, you start procrastinating, you start putting things off, you start delaying things that actually matters. And tomorrow turns into next week, and next week turns into next month, and now you're looking up like, how did I get here? How did this happen? How did I forget? What happened? Real talk out? You didn't get there overnight, you got there from a lack of consistency, and that lack of consistency came from being overwhelmed and not addressing the issue. So now the question becomes when you become aware of your actions and and we know just where you are in life, the next question should be how do I fix that? And you can't fix it by doing more. Some people think, well, if I do more, do more. I can fix being overwhelmed by doing more. You fix being overwhelmed by getting clear understanding of where you are and who you are, clear on what matters, what's most important, what's income producing, just depending on, you know, like the field you're in, being clear on what needs to be done first and what you need to stop doing. That's one of the most important things. Sometimes we can be so busy doing nothing and getting nowhere. It looks like we're busy, but it are you really doing things that are productive, you know? Because some of us are overwhelmed, not because we have too much to do, but because we have absolutely no structure. And when we don't have structure in our life, if y'all can see me, I'm smiling right now because I'm in a season where I'm like saying to myself, I'm overwhelmed. And I have this little birdie in my ear, like, did you make your list? Well, how are you doing on your list? And I know that I haven't made my list or that I'm still working off the same list because I'm allowing things to interrupt my flow and I'm not prioritizing what's important and what's not, and that's having no structure. So I'm gonna admit to y'all right now, I'm currently in a small season to where my, you know, I'm off a little bit. So my structure has kind of disappeared, and I gotta get it back together. But a busy life without structure will always feel overwhelming. So if you feel overwhelmed all the time and daily, that means you don't have structure and you have to get it together. Pull yourself together. So let's go a little deeper here. You have to learn, we're gonna move on a little bit. You have to learn how to stabilize yourself emotionally. And I'm not saying to ignore your feelings, I'm saying don't let your feelings run your life because life will always have something going on. Something. There will always be stress, there will always be pressure, there will always be something that doesn't go your way. I literally had a conversation with my child um yesterday night, doing homework, and he was, what was he saying? We're talking about Colin here, and um, truth be told, my son doesn't he he does he hates school. Smart as a whip, um, very, very intelligent, but he just feels like school's the worst thing ever. And he said, I was doing very well in math, and then they popped this up on us, and it's just so much stress and pressure. And I'm like, son, that is life. I said, what you're talking about is you want to be an adult? You always say, I can't wait to be an adult. That's life. I said, everything's not gonna go how you think it's supposed to. I said, yep, you just grasped the concept on how to do this, and now today you're having to learn to read and draw histograms. Like this is having a conversation with an 11-year-year-old about life. There's always something going on. But see, if every time something happens and you shut down or you pull back or you stop showing up, then you're training yourself to be inconsistent. You're training yourself not to even be trustworthy. And I know y'all have heard me say this before. My favorite line, one of my favorite lines to say is if I don't bet on nobody else, I'm gonna bet on me. Because I know I'm gonna show up, I know I'm gonna do X, Y, and Z. So when you begin to shut down, pull back, and stop showing up for yourself, you're training yourself to be inconsistent. And inconsistency will keep you stuck longer than the lack of money ever will. Remember that. Inconsistency, right? If you're not consistent consistent in tracking your money, if you're not consistent in um creating your meal plan, creating your meal plan every week so that you know life can be a little easier. I got in my feelings the other day going over my stuff, and I'm like, I tried this and I was wasting money or it's spending the same money. I'm not consistent in my meal planning, right? Because my life sometimes I feel like is not consistent as a real estate agent and the million other things that I'm doing. I'm like, it's hard to plan your meals. We'll have a plan, but if something pops up now, money can't cook, you know. Those are excuses. I gotta figure it out, right? But anyway, we're gonna get off that soapbox. We're just saying, if you understand, you understand. Now, last week um, or the week before, we we talked about the credit. We talked, we had a credit uh segment and we discussed credit because this is where your mindset starts showing up in your behaviors. Now, we talked about how credit is not just numbers. It's not just saying a 760 or an 800. Credit shows your discipline, it shows consistency, it shows how you take responsibility. And this is where a lot of people miss it. They want these high scores, but they don't want to change their habits, right? You want these high scores, but you don't want to not swipe your card. You wanna, you, you don't want to not go to Starbucks, you don't want to not go on these um trips that you could be waiting on and you swiping cards and running up a firm, and you know, your credit score is a reflection of how consistent you are, how disciplined you are, and how responsible you are with what you're being given. See, it's not personal, it's just a report card. Let me tell y'all something. Your credit is a simple receipt of how you've been managing your financial life. Okay, this is real. Your credit is only a receipt, it's a it's a picture of how you've managed your financial life. Think about it. Why do banks look at your credit when you want to take out a loan? Why do you think car dealerships look at your credit when you want to take out a loan? They're looking to see how responsible you are with your finances. So when you say, I want to get my credit together, what you're really saying is I need to get my habits together. When you hear people say, I gotta get my credit straight first, that's the famous line. I'm gonna come, I'm gonna call you when I'm ready to get a house, but I gotta get my credit. And I've learned that they're really just saying, I gotta get my habits together. I'm not gonna swipe that car no more. I'm gonna pay them balances down. I'm gonna pay my bills on time. Because you can't fix your credit without fixing your behavior. Late payments. That's not a bill issue, that's a discipline issue. You know your bill comes due on the first. Have it automatically drafted out so that it comes out on the first so you don't forget it. Plenty. Maxed out cards. That's not just a money issue, that's a spending issue. That's another discipline issue. Maxed out cards. Now, now let me let me say this. Let me say this because I know some of y'all may have been one time where I was once in my life. I had maxed out cards because there was a life-changing thing that happened. Some events happened in my life, and I was literally living off my cards, and I couldn't get the balance down because the interests were were were, you know, they were high. So it took a while to get, you know, my balances down, but that affected my credit. It affected my credit. So it's not, not all the time is it because you're spending, but sometimes I know life happens. But you gotta come up with a plan to fix it. Um, collections, that's just not bad luck. Some people have collections because they avoid paying the bill, right? I know some, I know I'm not the only one. The medical bills back in the day. I ain't gonna worry about it. It can't hurt me. And then one time it got to where it did. You know, they they were sticking on the credit. So I yeah, I've been here. But you need to take your credit at least once a month, I would say, or have those alerts. You can stop going to Starbucks one time a month to give free alerts or twice a month, something. But sign up for um the notifications, privacy guard, or um, you know, there's other. You can even get credit card. I think they'll give you an alert if something hits your credit. But let y'all until you address your behavior issue, that score will keep reflecting the same story. Okay. Your score will not change until you address the issue, until you become the C info of your life, the chief financial officer. Now, let's tie this all together because if your mind is overwhelmed, you're going to avoid things. If you're going, if you're avoiding the things, you're going to miss your payments. If you're missing your payments, your credit is going to suffer. So this is not separate. This is all connected together. Life, finance, and real estate, mindset, credit, mental health, your mental health, your habits, your discipline, your money, it's all connected. So before we even get into positioning, I need you to understand this. You cannot position yourself to win if your mind is unstable. Your habits are in if your habits are inconsistent and if your structure is non-existent. If you don't have any structure at all. Because let me tell you something. Success isn't gonna come to people. It ain't gonna come to you, nobody else, if you're just hoping things get better. I you know, I don't, I don't sometimes, you know, I hear people, I have conversations with people say, one day, one day I'm gonna be able to, one day, one day. Or I wish I could. And you can't become successful hoping in the wishing. Success happens when you decide to get better, when you decide to do things better. What does that look like? Well, if you know you don't want to work a nine to five for the rest of your life, find something to do that you enjoy doing. Find a problem and come up with a solution. You know? Like, solve the problem. Don't complain about how tired or how you don't like your job, or always tell me, I wish I can travel more and do this and do that, when you're not doing anything to change change the outcome. I tell my kids all the time, they say, Oh, I want to be this and I want to be that. And they'll look at me side eye and I'm like, okay, well, what you gonna do to get there? What books you reading? Tell mommy what book you're gonna read. What YouTube video? What are you learning? It comes to people. Success. Success. It comes to people who decide to get better. You gotta make a decision to get better. Now, our name message today, we're supposed to be talking about positioning. And let's talk about it because most people think that they have a money problem. Most people think that they have a timing problem. But the truth is, most people have a positioning problem. Positioning, Kirby, what do you mean? Well, I'm gonna ask you, are you prepared? Are you structured? Are you disciplined? So when that opportunity shows up, you're able to move. So ask yourself, am I positioned to even receive the blessings that are coming my way? Opportunities don't wait for you to get ready, they reveal whether you are ready, whether you are positioned to receive. I hear people say all the time, I want to buy a house. And I ask, are you ready? Or are you just interested? Because interested people talk. You know, when you're interested, you talk. You talk, you just want to go look and window shop, right? But see, ready people, they move. I have these, I had a set of clients honestly recently, and um when they said they were ready, I'm gonna tell you something. They knew from the T everything they had in the savings, they knew what their scores were, they already knew the areas they wanted to be in. They just they had it all together. They were ready. They they weren't just interested, they were ready. And a lot of times people say they want a house, but not all the time are they ready for the responsibility that comes with buying a house. And it's not to scare you, it's just to make you aware of the things that come with buying a house. When you buy a house, you are responsible for your lawn care. You are responsible to the up for the upkeep, the pressure wash, and keeping the spider webs down, the dirt dogs, and keeping your AC maintenance and changing your air filter. I tell people all the time, just like your landlord in your apartment told you to change their air filter out every time you pay your rent, every time you pay that mortgage, change their air filter out. So when you say you're ready to buy a house, or even when you say you're ready to open a business, make sure that you're ready for the responsibility that comes with it. Because you gotta remember, you have to be that CFO of your life. You have to become the CFO of your life. Know your numbers, track your numbers, create your margins, make decisions with intentions because money responds to clarity. And when you have clarity of where your money is going, how much is coming in, how much is going. Now you can move better. If you don't know where your money is going, you're not in control. And if you're not in control, you're not positioned. Let me let me tell y'all the truth here. Stop saying you're waiting on the right time because the right time shows up for prepared people. Let me take it to Joseph in the Bible. I know we've talked about old Joe before, but see, Joseph didn't wait for the famine to come. He prepared in the good season. He prepared. When the harvest was coming plentiful, Joseph was putting up. So when things shifted, Joseph didn't get stressed because he knew he was positioned. He knew he was positioned already. He knew he was positioned, y'all. Joseph was positioned and he was able to lead. Let me give y'all some homework here. Track your spending. For the next 30 days, track your spending. Track your spending. I'm telling you, track your spending. Know your numbers. Every piece of income that comes in your home, write it down. Track your numbers. Create your margins. Fix those habits and make a decision. Stop talking. Stop talking about it as they say and be about it. Stop talking. Start doing. Start preparing. Start doing. I want to say this prayer for you guys before we close out. And we're just gonna thank God. We're gonna thank God in advance. If you don't have clarity right now, if you don't have discipline, if you don't even have the mindset to grow, we're just gonna thank God in advance for giving you that. So God, we thank you. We thank you for clarity. We thank you for discipline. We thank you for growth. And God, I'll go even a little further. God, we thank you for the mind to want clarity, the mind to even want to be disciplined, and the mind for growth. Help us not just to hear what we're hearing today, but to apply it to our life daily. Help us become better stewards, better leaders, and better decision makers. Help us be ready when opportunity comes. In Jesus' name. Amen. Now let me leave you with this. It's not that opportunities are rare. A lot of people say it's rare for you. No, it's not. What's rare is prepare people. So the opportunities are there. They're awaiting. But you gotta be ready. You gotta be prepared. So the question isn't when will my time come? The real question should be, will you be ready when it does come? Listen, hey family, this is your girl Kirby the Realtor, and I want to thank each and every one of my listeners that have been with me every day, every week, rather.
