Against His Will
Against His Will is what happens when a decade of nagging finally pays off—and a reluctant comedian husband is dragged into the podcast spotlight.
Hosted by married comedians Noah Gardenswartz and Ester Steinberg, the show is recorded from the comfort of their Las Vegas home. Delivered with sharp tongues and zero filter, it dives into the chaos of life on and off the stage—from brutally honest takes on the comedy grind to the kind of relationship banter that probably should’ve stayed private.
They break down bizarre Las Vegas headlines that feel too weird to be real (but somehow always are), and dig up old, abandoned jokes to see if there’s still life left in them—or if they deserve to stay buried forever.
It’s part comedy lab, part marriage therapy, and part “how did we get here?” energy. Whether you’re into stand-up, strange news, or just listening to two funny people lovingly roast each other, Against His Will delivers the kind of unfiltered humor that only comes from years of shared history—and one very persistent spouse.

In this episode, Noah is getting ready to film his special in Denver while Ester recaps her slightly unhinged run through Miami and a show in Gainesville. Noah is in a mood because he has to leave for an appointment Ester signed him up for, and the coffee situation in the house has recently taken a turn… not in his favor.
Back in Vegas, we get into the WNBA, and in Joke Yard, we revisit a Morocco story that is both very funny and just a little bit gross in a way that lingers.
Hi Noah, how's it going?
SPEAKER_01Good. I'm doing well. I love that in the podcast we just have to turn it on and instantly pretend like we're so happy we were arguing five minutes before the episode started because we're both so overwhelmed by the day.
SPEAKER_00April is a April's a doozy for us. April's a real I don't know what is up with April, but I have a one trillion things I need to do and responsibilities and flights, and you as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, you just got back from five days in Florida, right? So you were traveling for five days, I was solo parenting for five days, and then I'm getting ready to hit the road tomorrow to shoot my special. So tensions are high, neither of us are doing anything wrong. We're just a bit overwhelmed at the moment.
SPEAKER_00I am happy when you make a plan in your head for your schedule. Like you're gonna fly in, then get that car, then drive this way, then that way, and then stay there, and then blah, blah, blah. And sometimes that plan goes awry, and sometimes it it was it's executed flawlessly. I will get myself uh a hand. I kind of executed a very challenging thing pretty well. We got to the wind to do a show on Wednesday, and then I right after the wind changed into sweatpants and boarded on a frontier flight to Tampa, Florida, a red eye.
SPEAKER_01Yes, your Florida trip began with catching a red eye directly after a big show in Vegas. Yes, and then flew through the night, landed at what 6, 7 a.m. and had to drive to Gainesville for your first show.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that is, but I also made it sure I was like, I gotta sleep in my parents' house in my childhood bedroom, just sleep until Gainesville. And then when I drove to Gainesville, I couldn't believe how much traffic and everyone's like, Tampa's gotten so crazy traffic. Well, um I met the openers in Gainesville.
SPEAKER_01Hold on. I do want to talk all about Florida, but I don't want to just dive.
SPEAKER_00We don't want to dive into Florida.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So before we get into Florida, because I do want to hear all about your Florida trip, I want to say something. We recently, as a household, switched from Keurig and the Starbucks K cups because of microplastics.
SPEAKER_00Yes, microplastics message hormones of French press.
SPEAKER_01And I am so ready to go back to all the microplastics in my body. This new form of coffee that you have forced upon me is not doing the trick. I have no gauge of how many.
