Golf cart chronicles
🎙️ GOLF CART CHRONICLES
What’s said after the swing.
Golf Cart Chronicles is a podcast recorded in a golf cart — over a round of golf — where real conversations unfold once the swing is over and the masks come off.
There’s no studio.
No scripts.
No pressure to perform.
Just two people sharing a cart, a few laughs, a few truths, and whatever comes out between the shots.
Some conversations are light.
Some go deep.
Some wander where they’re meant to.
This podcast isn’t about golf scores or swing tips.
It’s about life, resilience, pressure, purpose, mistakes, lessons, and the things men don’t always plan to talk about — but do, when the timing’s right.
Sometimes it’s 9 holes.
Sometimes it’s 18.
The conversation decides.
Hosted by Buzz, creator of Who Is Your Hero, Golf Cart Chronicles is for anyone who knows that the most important moments in life don’t happen on the scorecard — they happen after the swing.
⛳🎙️ If you’re up for a round and a real yarn, you’re already qualified.

But I never wanted to go.
SPEAKER_08Hey guys and girls, this is Buzz from Who Is Your Hero. Hope you enjoy the next 35 minutes of the Mike Carney Toyota Townsville Open. Also proudly sponsored by the Queensland Country Bank. You'll see all the great shots, you'll see all the falls, you'll see the comments before the first round, you'll see the trophies at the end of the night, and you'll see a few people gonna struggle Monday morning. Sit back, relax, wherever you are, grab a cup of tea, grab a beer. Hope you enjoy the next 30 to 40 minutes of the Mike Carney, Townsville Golf Club Open. I ran out from buttons. You gotta head for radio. Well you know it on who is your hero. I've just decided this morning to come up and have a chat with some people about the Townsville Open, which is running this weekend. And I ran into the club captain. I don't know what he was doing. Were you treating your scorecard or what?
SPEAKER_21No, no, I'm trying to work out who remember who I've got to thank at the end of the day. And all the nice reminders. Now, how's the feel?
SPEAKER_08Are they good from this year?
SPEAKER_26Yeah, so we had 191 yesterday, uh up for about 163, 160 odd from last year. The feel's been great, almost maximum feels, which is uh great to see.
SPEAKER_08Have you got someone you can predict maybe the early winner in the A-grade? I see there's a good group playing with um Normie Pice, Emmy, uh Andy Kay, and one other.
SPEAKER_21Yeah, I think if Norm's prepped himself well, he'll be pretty hard to beat. Emmy's also is pretty hard to look, both solid players. We'll see how dark.
SPEAKER_08You're a dark four. Better put you on the spot. Yeah, they have cut me on the spot. We've got more out of here. Set your phone, Reggie. Take it, take it. Who is the my my so it's only a couple of swaps between uh the top four.
SPEAKER_26My darky's Andy Kaye.
SPEAKER_08But it does depend how much piss he drank last night.
SPEAKER_26Well, that's right, yeah, there's a big factor. Talking to Mel, Norm's high known. He prepped pretty well last night. He didn't really get on it. Home early, really.
SPEAKER_08Fammi's gone home early. Andy Kay will just do what he does. And uh, yeah, quite interesting. But B grade? B grade's B grade. You can have somebody coming from one of the morning fields come through and have a blinder. Danny McLaughlin told me this morning you can pick up eight shots and winners. Yeah.
SPEAKER_26Yep. B grade, yeah. The swinging B grade, once you start getting that sort of mid to low B grade, they've all got a reasonably good game. They just need to turn it on in the day. If you've got the leaders have a bad B-grade day and some of the midfield have a good day, yeah, they can usually jump forward. And C grade? Seagrad's a bit safe. Seagrad's even more open because it's uh the handicaps go out even further. Well, certainly can tell you Griffo's not gonna win it.
SPEAKER_08Griffo's not got any hands. Raise the bet, and 20 yesterday. Always clearly become Griffo yesterday. He was everywhere. It was a tough day for Griffo. We're gonna have a chat to Griffo before he hits up. He's hitting on a 30 so he's one of the guys I want to get anyway. Anyway, your game. Yep. Front or back nine today. Uh, we're all off the front. So yeah, right yard off one today. So driver behaving for you or is it gonna hope time out? Nothing behaved for me yesterday. Firties or beers? We'll see how we go at the turn. 30s for first nine, and if it's if it's stuffed up, you won't get on it.
SPEAKER_26If there's no birdies in the front nine, there'll definitely be beers in the back.
SPEAKER_08Are you over or uh under your handicap at the moment? Well, well, well, well done. I um I didn't raise the back, but I was a little bit worried I was going to first tea nerves on a date on a carnival like this, or not really? No, I'm not. Look, ready healing? Uh no, be grade. B grade. Talked about that. One word for today about your game. Hope it's better. Better than yesterday. How many balls are you packing? That's not in your job.
SPEAKER_21No, I uh when I get down to about four in the bag, I'll buy another box. And the box goes in the bag, but it's not broken up in the bag, it's just a a box full, so I've probably got fourteen or fifteen of the bags.
SPEAKER_08So have you got any excuses lined up for a shit gang yet? Well, only that I'm shit called for it. What do we got here? What is that's yeah, but anyway, Tony, thank you very much. Fill the screen screen. Anyway, who's your hero? What the podcast is all about. Calling my grandfather as sort of a whole it again sort of depends a little bit on context and and what we're at the time. Where you are at the time.
SPEAKER_21Overall, my grandfather, very balanced personality, knew how to discipline without discipline. So, us as kids, we'd be, you know, running the mic and doing kid stuff. And his fallback was you keep that up, we're gonna have falling out.
SPEAKER_26And that was it. Then as soon as he oh no, we don't want to disappoint the park, so we'd start in total light. It was a pretty good line. Yeah. Yeah. Didn't have to do much else than that.
SPEAKER_08You had a good game today. I hope so. Thanks very much. Thanks, mate. Well, ladies and gentlemen, legends of who and you never got a million followers now. Oh yeah, yeah. How good day? It's terrific, and it started in a hospital bed for men's ladies' health. But here I am today, the Townsville Golf Club at the 2026 open, and I have thank it. How'd you play yesterday, brother?
SPEAKER_11Patchy, patchy, and that's been nice. Right, and they said in 2026 that you've had a new change of your golf like um you've been apparently I've never played around with you, but you were used a lot but yeah, it came it came easy. They don't make them like they used to. Oh really? Okay, I got stronger maybe.
SPEAKER_08Yeah? Angrier?
SPEAKER_23Yeah. I think you've got a container of the club precedent.
SPEAKER_08Oh, really? Have you played Dot Ranadolphus Onzi? Yes. Yes, every Johnny's club stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_22I just there's a few out there that'll potentially take the trophy I was awarded during the week. Ellen Love Rose? Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um, the course is sensational.
SPEAKER_22Yeah. It's as good as it's been in six years that I've been in Individuals.
SPEAKER_11Really? Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_08You know, because there's a new green keeper here and he's having a go and he's got new staff and he's taking on something after a flood, I suppose, with the bunkers all out, but uh, hats off to them, mate.
SPEAKER_22They uh it improves and that's all the members could ask.
SPEAKER_08They work their ass off, don't they, the green keepers they're running around at little flies all day. What do you reckon like for those that are thinking about coming down for a game of golf at the Canso Golf Club? Now it's a bit of feedback the other day. I did see that on Twitch. Yeah, you were a hero read the table, weren't you? I read some comments as well. Yeah, there's a a secret men's club or something like that, or the bloody Freemasons or you know, one of them, but I could d I could actually have to say the opposite the way I've been welcome.
SPEAKER_22Very fringy golf course. Look, it's a busy golf course, so I understand the frustration from some people that aren't regular golfers.
SPEAKER_08Just pay your money and that doesn't happen to you.
SPEAKER_22That's quite a pretty cheap membership too, I think. Couple of grand. Hey, I lived on a Gold Coast twenty five years ago and it'd been dearer than that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I mean I'm from down Melbourne, you know, there's Mornington and Sandbell clubs, closed 30 grand and you got a nominate. And pay and join it for you. Fuck me, did you winds us anyway? It's alright. I uh who's your tip? How you go today?
SPEAKER_22We had Am Harrison uh I think he's he's got the temperament, yep, and the game to get it done. Right. And Andy Kay on back end. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11And Andrew would be a contender, but I do I just sense Sam's been there, done it before, potentially wouldn't put as much vector on himself as someone that hasn't done it before. Yeah. What's the AK? Oh, you're in AK too. Are you playing it? I've been in negative first rider. A few too many three butts yesterday was the problem, and that's testament to how good the greens are. Driver in or out. Why are they scribbling a day? Driving pottery if I could just leave everything in between the two of them alone, I golf would be easy.
SPEAKER_08What about um any advice, you know? We're living in a pretty funny, crazy, mixed-up world at the moment. You know, you're a parent, you've been a kid, I don't know. What's some advice for these these young fellows that they're bearing it a bit out at the moment?
SPEAKER_11Don't look too far into the future. I'd take it day by day at the moment with the economy, etc. And uh live within your means. Yeah. I think if you you know, if you overextend yourself, then you live in debt by a long shot, then you're probably not gonna enjoy life.
SPEAKER_25Yeah, and it seems programmed by the uh top of us that they want you in debt and they want you working out.
SPEAKER_11That's the way they make your money, isn't it? You make your money out of uh being able to put everybody under the pump.
SPEAKER_08So you gotta work, you gotta have three jobs, and the family unit breaks up and all that. But uh use a great line from Tim uh McPathler for In Tim McPhee. That's um he said it's pretty hard to have three six days in a race. And I think it's a it's a really good thing. So if you're having a bad day, think about it. Ring someone you love. In the cattle, they'll help you. Don't be shy to speak up. So I'm kidding, who's the viewer?
SPEAKER_22Um I ever every child says I've had a lot of good friends that are that are heroists. We got my uh forty-nine and a half years. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um I don't know. Probably a golfer. Probably a people and those people that you love and choose if you ring them lately and tells them you've got to ring them this morning the cream, did you? Yeah.
SPEAKER_11It's a ritual still Mum and Dad's still in New Zealand. Yeah. It is a uh a ritual to catch posts within every weekend just so they can see the smile on my son's house. That is your son's a tricky little bag of take.
SPEAKER_10He loves ya.
SPEAKER_08Hey, just finish the part of the podcast here is to ring someone to love you, someone's help you. Reach out, tell him you love it, because we don't want to do it at the eulogy. 100%. Thanks, Shane. Matthew, if you haven't been down to the amazing Townsville Golf Club lately, what are you doing with yourself? This place is absolutely humming. One of the best courses in North Queensland, Unreal Greens, Magic People, Cold Beers, Good Love, and now the Swing Cage is becoming one of the hottest spots in town. Whether you're a scratch marker or weekend slicer, or just out there for a bucket of balls and a yarn with your mates, the swing cage has got you covered. Smash balls under lights, warm up before you're round, bring the kids, bring the crew, even book a function, and parties while you're at it. Let me tell you, there's nothing better than belt a pew down the range with a schooner in one hand after work. That's therapy, North Queensland style. Massive thanks to the Townsville Golf Club for getting behind Car Chronicles and letting us record live out on course between the shots. The support from the club, the members, the staff, and the legends around the place have been bloody unreal. So next time you're looking for a hit, a feed, a function, or just a bloody good atmosphere, get yourself down to the Townsville Golf Club and tell 'em, buzz sanctuar.
SPEAKER_02Luki, I found Luke K Tenuzovic. Kanoski.
SPEAKER_23Kanoski, that was fucking close, bro. Yeah. This is one. Do you know I've interviewed about 30 people today? Uh and they're saying the course is fucking amazing.
SPEAKER_16Yeah, we put a bit of work in the end of where it is. Yeah. How how'd you hit it yesterday? Not as good as I wanted to, but it was alright.
SPEAKER_08Where are you at? What numbers? I was 82 off the stick. Which what's that mean? Are you in the hunt? Yeah. According. B grade? Yeah. What are you reckoning there today? Did you have a good preparation last night or did you fucking let it rip?
SPEAKER_06I went to bed early, I was up early. Not like Nick. Nah. I fucking work this morning. Oh, did you? I've been up since four o'clock.
SPEAKER_23Right, and uh who's your tip for A-grade? I think Sammy Harrison's got a bit of a hot tip.
SPEAKER_02Always play closed all in the It's a little bit serious for any for the eye and open, isn't it? It's not like everyone's fucking laughing and all that, do it.
SPEAKER_16Oh, I guess it just depends how familiar you are with your group. Are you a good sledger? I can throw some child if I need to.
SPEAKER_23Ah. Hey, we got new voice through the young fellow out there that's fucking doing it a bit tough or didn't want to get out of bed. Let's get out of bed. Yeah. Do something about it. Yeah, get your feet on the ground. Like, keep you little, I know you're in a big preparation this golf day. Who's your hero? Well, I don't think I have a single hero. That feels like mini mooie you are.
SPEAKER_08I'd like to say. Can't he's losing I can give it a break, but he's fifty. Alright, he's 62. Oh, we'll fucking leave him alone. Okay, I'm around the fucking give him a rip. Alright, thanks for coming on, bro, and have a good day. I've just run into Katie Bugley on who is your hero. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_01I'm good.
SPEAKER_08I'm good. I'm just up here having a chat to a chat to um like it's bluffy. The budding golfers on the Townsville Open. What do you reckon of the course?
SPEAKER_01Of course, the course is playing so good at the moment that boys are done a really good job. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Are you playing? Well, that doesn't matter in these days of life, though. You could identify as a male and get a game of unicorns. Yes. Cat.
SPEAKER_01Cat.
SPEAKER_08How is your cat?
SPEAKER_01He is good.
SPEAKER_08I've seen Demsil on social media a fair bit, you've got massive eyes.
SPEAKER_01He does. He's been working on some new practice drills. He's helping me make my juniors programs.
SPEAKER_08Practice drills? Does he go is he into the golf?
SPEAKER_01Had a little bucket hat on the other day and Sonny's, and I did a golf drill for one of my little four-year-olds, and he was in the video.
SPEAKER_08That's pretty cool. Who's your tip to when the agro today?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, golf is uh always tricky with that. It could literally be anyone's.
SPEAKER_08There's a great four there with Sammy Harrison, Norm Pye, Andy Kay's the Dark Horse. He can play.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_08He's now warming up on his third schooner. He reckons he's going out after Maybe that's a magic recipe, you know. Yeah, and they say Norm's had an early night, Mel says, but I think that could be a Norm's detriment if he's changed things up.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's kind of shuffling up the system. Although sometimes it's good to shuffle up the system.
SPEAKER_08Alright, Kay, I got it. Before I leave you, who's your hero?
SPEAKER_01I have to think on that.
SPEAKER_08Well, you better hurry up. It's only a short podcast.
SPEAKER_01Well gosh, I have to come back to you. Okay. That's the only option.
SPEAKER_08I'll catch you later today.
SPEAKER_01Hey Jason Kip.
SPEAKER_08Welcome back to Who Is Your Hero? I found another legend of golf here from Mackay. Yeah. I said Mackay catch Bakers Creek Tigers in the AFL in 2012 at 45 years of age. Yeah, I had a bit of stuff to help me play though, Andy. But um Colin's come all the way from Mackay. What what club are you a member at? Mackay Club. What's your handicap? Today there's course eight. I haven't. And how how do you rate the golf course here at Tanslable or ones at Mackay?
SPEAKER_12No.
SPEAKER_08It's good. It's nothing like it used to be in the eighties. It used to be uh to say it was ship. Oh no, I was an old course back in the eighties. Yeah. So uh what's eight? You're in A-grade. Yeah. No, if he's the winner of A-grade here, I reckon, Andy Chase. He's just got to put another six schooners into him and he'll be anyone's. So, uh Had's hit him yesterday? Uh alright. In plenty of. Plenty of? What you didn't you didn't raise a bat. Oh no. No, no, no. Griffo did. Yeah, yeah, he's he's featured in every uh podcast. So uh what's your favourite on this course, you reckon, already after playing is the first time you played the new ra No, I'll come up last oh I didn't come up last year, but yeah, I've come up um for the past four years.
SPEAKER_05Right, because I gave the game away for 25 years and I only just started back again nearly five years ago. Twenty-five years? That's a long time to give a game away. Working overseas. Work overseas in Africa or Era Trier in Africa. Well, Lapins, Canada. See, did have some good stories. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Can't tell them I suppose that. No, you can't tell, eh. Not not good for your ratings. So is your driver behaving or is that in the bag?
SPEAKER_05No, it was behaving, but then I started to the second nine just started to block them right. Don't know why.
SPEAKER_08You don't know why you do a lot of things in golf.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, I I was I I played the back nine first and uh I walked off with I was happy I'd started off with two dubs, uh and then brought it brought it back. I was only four over and then um I had a twelve or nine. Alright, so you What? Well it sounds like me.
SPEAKER_08In the drink? Uh yes. Two is or what one off the tea and then one beside the green and then talk to the side. This guy sounds like he's at twelve off number one. Accidentally I see they reckon I'm I don't know. They reckon I'm a they reckon I'm a handicapped dodger. I'm 31.5 and I'm just a kid trying to play golf, but they reckon I'm just playing when I need to play, and that's all lies. So what do you read it'll be today? Birdies or beers? Yeah. Well I need birdies, need a bit of blue on the card. Over or under on your handicap by the time you finish. Hopefully under. That's a pleasure. Do you play a lot of country tournaments like this? Yeah. I go to all the opens. How do you rate the t hospitality at the Townsville Golf Club? Yeah, it's good. Enjoying it? Yeah. I don't get to stay up here though.
SPEAKER_05I d like I'm originally from here. Right. Home, so all my family's there, so I drive up, I stay there. So I drive up and back each day. But yeah, so the minute I finish, I'm in the car and back.
SPEAKER_08Oh, that's a bit of a bugger. First thing her still in these things? Nah. God knows I've been playing since the 70s, so there's a couple of people here though, and I've just interviewed one who I won't mention in Darrell Gilchrist. But should I just say that out loud, Andy? Um It's like he's Tiger Woods today. Yeah. But during the like a social game, he's like, blah blah blah blah blah. I got an interview, Adrian, but Christ, you know, it's yeah.
SPEAKER_21I'll drink it for years to four years off.
SPEAKER_08And he'll probably win it.
SPEAKER_05I could never play sober. I mean we could like I I lost the home hill open in the eighties by one shot, and they had to carry me off the 80 and f our dream. I couldn't walk anymore.
SPEAKER_08The home hill opened. Alright, before I go, Colin, of this podcast is all about mental health and waking up each day and having a good day. Who's your hero? Oh god. Hardest question, isn't it? Yeah, it is.
SPEAKER_05There's too many too many people. It's all different different attributes.
SPEAKER_08No, it's someone that's had a really good influence, and if you're having a shitty day or a Duna day as I call it, you don't want to get out. So who w who inspires you or has inspired you to be who you are today?
SPEAKER_05There's one guy I can't remember in the his name. I just remember I spent nine, eight months with him in rehab. It was rehabbed for a lot of brain damage from accidents and all that type of stuff.
SPEAKER_08You suffered yourself? Yeah. Oh well, f MATs, all that type of stuff. We all used to be at Vincent Village uh rehab center. Yeah, long before the uni bought it. A lot of an ADF, defense, n No, no, no, no, generally.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, car accidents, mum is the same, suffer the same.
SPEAKER_08And this guy, he'd been in there for twelve months and he and he was still going and going and going. Right. And he just kept fighting through it. Yeah. Yeah, like no motor skills, nothing, just yeah, no loss of memory, all that type of stuff. Yeah, and is it isn't it bloody crazy how and you're great to talk to. I worked In New Guinea for five years teaching over there. Oh yeah. Uh construction training. And um until you've left Australia and you think it's shittier, it's a very good joy, didn't they? You know, we do wins it. We are we are a pack of winges. I think we do ever getting worse in the POMS. Nah, not anything. We just don't we don't like compliments, we put ourselves down. We do, don't we? And this is sort of part of what I'm trying to do is get a bit of worse back into people. Yeah. Because they're all a bit sad these days. I mean, we've got a shit government, right? We've got a terrible prime minister, the cost of living, the the mental health branding, I call it, because I don't like the word metal else, because I've suffered and I've got myself out of it without it it's just grow some balls and and oh grab life by the balls. Great charity there. But uh all seems a little bit doom and gloom at the moment, doesn't it? But life's good, eh? You know, if you if you if you focus too much on the negative, you just bring yourself down and you fall into a big hole of depression and it's hard to get out of it. Especially as a m uh male, we're taught at our age to just like you said, just push it down, stay and talk about it, just deal with it, roll with the punches. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um and you just end up stressing out even more.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and it's amazing if you can urge yourself to get up and get moving. Um I was just explaining before I got chronic kidney disease, I'm on ten hours of dialysis tonight, but I chose to if I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die swinging. Yeah. Um you yourself have obviously been involved in a horrific uh car accident. You could have stayed the victim, but now you're a survivor. Yeah. And the difference between those two words are massive.
SPEAKER_19Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Are they? Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you just gotta try to find the joy or some form of happiness out of everything. And then just go with that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and I'm big on to get me motivated again. I've got a lot of memories in life and I've got a lot of a lot of shit ones. I've done some shit things. I've got a lot of good ones, but I try and grasp that special time and try and make another one. Yeah. Exactly. And that's all you can do. And I can tell you something, you might have one day, bad day in a row, but you definitely can't have three. Hero up, thank you, Colin from Mackay, and good luck today. Thank you. Thanks, mate. Have a good one. Well, lo and behold, I found Andy Kay on Who Is Your Hero Podcast. It's a Carn Chronicles episode, but it's a Tansel Open. And you're about the fifth guy I've interviewed today, and they're tipping you to come home and win this thing. Well, they're dreaming. Hey, hey, everyone's a chance. But you had a great round yesterday. I'll play it right yesterday. What do you have to get um today to win it? Well, it all depends on what everyone else has. No, but you've got a plan. I mean, you shouldn't be worried about the opposition. I'll just go out and drink beer, hit it, find it, hit it again, and see what you have at the end.
SPEAKER_26Right, so beer's a big priority? Absolutely. Right, so that's why I'm here three hours before he before hitoff, how's it the first one?
SPEAKER_08That's interesting, because I was going to talk about that because um a lot of people go out to the driving range and a lot of people go to the putting and the chipping part, and I see them warming up, swinging their golf clubs. You choose to drink beer. Yeah. How many what do you reckon your your best rate is for your optimum performance? How many schooners? You'd have to have at least six before you hit off. Six, yeah. And I have caught you in a rush one day, and you're fucking terrible in the first four holes. That's exactly right. Right. What's your danger hole? Uh the second. Ecken. Well, you didn't like the water the other day, did you? No. I'm cast I'm a fan of that hole, but how many balls did you lose yesterday? None. Did you hit all the fairways? No. Right. Who's your tip to win? Um I would probably say Sam. Sam Harrison. Well, there's a lot go for Sam. They reckon if Norie Pies had a good preparation, and word has it, Mel said that he got to bed early, which I think That's your first down pull. I think that couldn't affect it. I think I'm gonna have a chat to him. I'm gonna have a chat to him soon if I can find him. It's uh Sam Harrison? He would be my pick, yes. Last year's winner has choked, apparently, and out of the game, Nick, the young fella.
SPEAKER_07Nick lost a bed at seven dirties this morning.
SPEAKER_08Wow. He's gonna play second round. Anyway, before I leave you, who's your hero?
SPEAKER_22Everyone. Everyone. It was a hero in in your eyes. Exactly right. Yeah, just keep punching on, eh? Exactly right.
SPEAKER_08Thanks, mate. Just roll with the punches and see. See you. Thanks, mate. Good luck today. Thanks very much. Just to hold that up. I have found Daryl Gilchrist and all uh what I believe is the Tiger Woods of the Townsville Golf Club. He's got a shy coy on me. Raw skin colour. Yeah.
SPEAKER_25I'm bit yeah, I'm about the same size as him.
SPEAKER_08He's not very f he's he is, isn't he? Sarcasm, mate. Anyway, for a start, Daryl's got new home solutions. And he sponsors a Thursday event, which I uh lose a lot of balls in. But um how's the course out there playing for you? First of all seen it?
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Uh it's really good.
SPEAKER_08How's your game going? Yeah, what did you finish yesterday on?
SPEAKER_12Oh, a couple over handicap, but yeah, and you're playing in A grade?
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Who's your tip? No idea. To win.
SPEAKER_12Oh, probably young fella, young yeah, Sammy.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, they reckon he might have had a big night though. But not all that yeah, but that'll help. Sammy there, he's got Andy K against him and Normy Pye. I'm I'm going Sammy Kay.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, I don't know Sammy that well.
SPEAKER_08Uh Normy. Sammy K. Uh Andy Kay, sorry. Andy K. Yeah, he's he's good golfer. I played a couple of rounds of them.
SPEAKER_12Uh Normie can go, don't worry. Yeah, Normie had uh like six under his handicap yesterday.
SPEAKER_08Wow. Um, what do you think of the new driving range? The swing bays here? Yeah, working alright, helping your game. They always yeah, and these monitors here are state of the art, apparently, but uh it's kicking ass. Before I leave you, thanks for coming on Who is Your Hero. We're only going out to a million people now, which is really good. Well, uh who's your hero?
SPEAKER_16Who is it?
SPEAKER_08A lot of people say they're missus and they get away with it good, you know. Can't go without my missus. Thanks, Daryl. What are we doing? Catching up with people of the Townsville Golf Club and Who is your hero? Right, my hero. I've run it up. That's the podcast you're on. One million followers I've got at the moment. Now we've got Keith Dibble at that right. I don't know. You have that mate.
SPEAKER_07How's it trade for the course? Course is awesome. Come on to Townsville Golf Club and have a great game of golf club.
SPEAKER_08See, what happened? I got some feedback when I was advertised that this place is an unsocial join.
SPEAKER_07No, no, no, no, that's not true. Very social. Yeah, it's great at the best farm I can. Oh, end of Tide Out Golf Program there.
SPEAKER_08I've interviewed about 30 people this morning, and uh feels that it makes you a name to win your guide.
SPEAKER_07Really? I don't know about that. I'm gonna go down, I'm gonna have a right time. Come on down, it's fine to be to die. I don't know what we're not doing tells us.
SPEAKER_08But wait, uh what are we doing tells us? Oh, I don't know how we have to find it as a five.
SPEAKER_07And the more we do work out the on the golf course, and the more past we just got doing the golf course after better the golf course often become. Okay, this is done the right device after the best people have.
SPEAKER_08I can't bring cardio on to squares to my foto's the right one after 50 device.
SPEAKER_07Who the hell's that? First I need the greatest golfer on the planet. And while Rodinap avoided some title as a Dolphas, Fortnite has the broad attitude study going forward in the future.
SPEAKER_08So the other specified podcast and large type popular I think we seem to be does not movie stars I guess I specified I had a lot of time in a life it's we've got a bit of a crazy world at the moment.
SPEAKER_07We have in beta we are I have a total, I have a uh topic and I'm not gonna get on. I'm very opinionated. Well, we could have a good podcast on that we could idea.
SPEAKER_08Well, we could have a great podcast in if any tips any young fellows thinking they got a bit of a shit life at the moment.
SPEAKER_07A bit of a shit life at the moment, if you're waking up every day, if you're in if you can see the sun outside, you're having a great life. Because a lot of people don't get the opportunity to wake up every day. A lot of people certainly don't have the opportunity to go outside every day. Just wake up and be lucky you're alive. Because you live in Australia, you are Australian, and be regardless of what the Americans say, Australia is the greatest country on earth. There's no doubt about that. If you've travelled a bed by humanity, and I have traveled. You would have traveled. There's a gun in my hand on behalf of this country, and every time I come home I kiss the ground and go, I love Australia.
SPEAKER_08Good luck today, Keith Ebbel. Thank you, buddy. Cheers, Randy. See ya. Well, fuck me, Dad. I'll run into Big Dave out. He's got his clothes on. I've got McCloviel.
SPEAKER_15Have you got anything up your sleeve today at the at the event?
SPEAKER_10Oh like Yeah, I've got little Davy. Davy Reeds in the group this morning, so I've uh got a bit of man love to share. At least. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08How did you How did you uh yesterday?
SPEAKER_15Yeah, couldn't hit the fucking side of a barn at all.
SPEAKER_08Are you not playing the handicap?
SPEAKER_15Uh negative. I think I started with a a quadruple bogey and then a triple bogey.
SPEAKER_10I think it was fifteen. Fifteen shots, first two holes, so it was on fire.
SPEAKER_08Credit of his own keepers. I actually congratulated Lukey this morning when I saw it in the course is spectacular. And what is it for you today, birdies or beers? Uh there's never any birdies, but always guarantee a beer. And is the driver in the bag or out of the bag? No, he's always gonna pull the big dog out. Big dog out. Who do you reckon's gonna win A grade?
SPEAKER_15Well, being that I was teamed up with uh Sammy Harrison yesterday. Fingers crossed he hits him like he did did yesterday.
SPEAKER_08Um any advice that's the young fellas thinking they gotta shit shit life at the moment? I mean the world's crazy and it's a bit ups upside down. What what do you know what do you reckon?
SPEAKER_10Basically, I think uh you just gotta think about the things that are in your sphere of control and um not worry about what might have happened in the past or what might happen in the future. Uh and always keep an eye on your mates.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and uh, how often do you ring your mates and knows the one you love and tell them you love them?
SPEAKER_10Uh I probably don't ring 'em, but you know, there's the quite frequent nipple twists, you know, is my sign of uh affection, you know.
SPEAKER_08I see a few punches and cattle. Different way the guys have got to it. I don't I don't think there's any penis grabbing around here, is it? Occasionally, is it? Oh yeah, you don't mind a feel the allowance? Adrian. Adrian's. Oh, yeah, yeah. Who does? Who does? Uh who's your hero, Dada? Who's my hero?
SPEAKER_10Oh, that's a toughie. To be fair, I'd probably say my dad. Still with you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mum and dad. Dad's ninety this year, mum's eighty-nine. Same as mine. Yeah, I had a bit of a bit of a rough trot there myself in the in my twenties and Yeah.
SPEAKER_15Well mummy and dad, for that matter. Didn't give up on me. So back to you unconditionally. Yeah. 100%.
SPEAKER_08And that's what that's what the you know, with this podcast around staying another day, telling people you love them before the eulogy. Yeah. But you can always go to someone that loves you because they won't they'll oh whatever you're done wrong, and I've done some shit things over, I can tell ya. But mum and dad always there, and some good mates, like my little bunger mate here, Danny Mac. Yeah. I mean he's trouble. He's already fucked up the fucking room with my program, but he said it was a good idea. But uh probably because he didn't think of it, it's maybe it's that's why he's not doing it. But uh thanks very much for coming on. Enjoy your golf today. And I'll buddy. I'll catch you after the event and see if any of that comes through. Well, love and behold, people, welcome to Who Is Your Hero Grip, mate? And he's looking at me with a really funny smile at the moment. Because yesterday, he didn't only raise a bat, he put twenty on it.
SPEAKER_26I did.
SPEAKER_0820. How do you reckon you're gonna improve your game today? Well, I don't think we get much worse from yesterday, mate, to be honest.
SPEAKER_10Well, that's good to play to look at it. Yeah. So have you got any mate? I've got no idea. I can just drink more beer and um hopefully it just gets better. How many balls did you do yesterday?
SPEAKER_08Four. I said, that's not bad, eh? How'd you get 150? Just really bad play. Yep. And I said, where's Griffo?
SPEAKER_17There you go, he's still in the fetal position.
SPEAKER_08You haven't come back with any like hurt or pain or just pride, maybe? No. No, no, mate.
SPEAKER_10I I'm I'm still positive, man. I'm I'm still good. I reckon I reckon I'll go out there and have a good hit today. As a said, but it can't go any worse.
SPEAKER_08What's your handicap?
SPEAKER_10Pretty soon.
SPEAKER_08Steven, what the fuck? I know you're in trouble. I am in trouble. So you can't win it. No. No, no. Uh, is there a prize for last? Well, I hope so. Well, I'm like gonna have a tattoo and tick-da-do. Hopefully so, mate. Okay, and what are you doing now? You're preparation, it's beards or driving money? It's beard. And before I leave it, I need a hero. Might be out.
SPEAKER_10I'll feel like a. I'll feel like a what's that? Oh mate, he's he's just an all-round legend. Yeah? Yeah. All-round legend, mate. You know, young. Sorry, young, he's small, but he could do anything on the fulfillment. The best direction? Best direction. Alf is my my hero.
SPEAKER_08Hey Griffo, looks like you come back really well, and that's a hero. If someone has a really bad day and could come up looking like this, because he played shit golf yesterday. Really shit golf. But then that's just something about life. You don't have three shit days in a row, really. You don't. Nah. Exactly right. You cancel the one you just said? Five. And get fucking moving. Reset and get back into it again, Griffo. Fuck me, dude. I've run it. Don't give me those fucking eyes. Serious cardboard. Hello. Yeah, hello. Good until you turned up. Nah, that's uh I really didn't think. Welcome to the podcast. This is a got uh golf cart chronicles one this time, and I'm just talking to poo. You know the other day I did some social media for the golf club and I got some feedback that this place was, well I'd say it read up itself. Secret means club. Almost freemasons they said any, but Carl seriously I've been here now, and although I came off the back of someone, I reckon the joint's pretty friendly, don't you? I think it's a great club. I think um over the last 12 months the the club is turned around. I think we're in the right direction. I think there's a lot of potential next to you. Yeah, and you were part of this beat just over here to start us with the screen tag? What a project. No, I did a fair bit of work on that.
SPEAKER_05Did all the technology with the source all the technology drive around and uh get back to my. Yeah, and it's proving a big success.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, we we thought it was gonna go well, but I think it's um it's proved itself, but I think it's um doing well about what did I forecast on it? I think we're doing well about that one. That's beautiful. How do you reckon the green head is a gun is play game on the coast?
SPEAKER_14Uh the green stuff in his name have done it since I thought. The best of course has been in for a long long time. And probably the best the course has been in an item. Really? Fantastic. And our tech confident that greens are running.
SPEAKER_08So uh and I um talk here is that 135 inches last give it 195 VT. That's that's magnificent. Big increase. I'm not very good at math, but what's that interesting just? Oh we got an extra uh extra ID state, yeah. I mean that's that's trivi. Come there, it's a good joint. Just come and try it out. I mean it's a few people that are hard to get along with, like Carl and Danny McLaughlin and Adrian Perthall and you know. You miss you missed the man himself, Stephen Schimmenship. Yeah, he's pretty hard to get along with. No one likes him? No, no, he's a bit of a ass. Uh who's your tip for the day, you know, right? Look, I played with a guy yesterday and he hit the ball beautifully. Andy Kay. Well he's the man to be. I reckon he I'd rather follow that group in the cart. That's all I reckon if he um if he concentrated on his putts a bit more and he would have had to. Well, I have played with him the last few weeks, right? And his putting is probably the only thing that's let him down. Yeah, if he doesn't do what he did to me and then anyhow teams event, he'll go really well. Well, when I played in the teams event with him, we won the golf bag. Well, we played in a teams event. And we were leading after the first eighteen holes, and we had nine to play, and we hasn't missed the fairway, but unfortunately on the first it went straight down the middle of the water. Did it? And then we lost it. Double or triple bogey that and lost by a shot. But it's sort of like half of the course for you in events, because I played with you one day. I didn't play with you, I'm not into that, but um I crashed out, didn't I? And yeah, we were going really well. You were last terrible. Yeah. Your mind wasn't in it. Nah, I just lost it. You had about a hundred points on the first night, and then you went and then you went because that's how we went wipe, wipe, wipe, wipe, and my back started to get sore. Do you reckon I do it to save my handicap or I'm just a shit golfer? I think I'm I'm I'm I speak for most of the club here. A hundred percent. Shit golfer. Both. Shit golfing, you do it on the You do it Shit golfer and looking after your handicap. And but I'd love you in my side. Well, everyone's heading from the handicap. Um, old Eddie's here listening to the interview and he got an eagle one day and we he just squared the hole with me. I think you were playing that, David. On the on the third, fourth, fifth. No, on the fourth. Fourth. Are you still crying about it? Hey, listen, the podcast is real I think I've done the same. I birdied a hole and you squared it with me with a baggy. Yeah, probably. Yes. I remember that. That's uh you know the podcast is around mental health, not just for kids, men, women, anyone. Have you got any tips for someone that's woken up this morning and thinking they're gonna have a shit day and considering doing something silly, not staying on it under the city?
SPEAKER_21Don't play golf with the people I play golf with.
SPEAKER_08Golf serious something serious.
SPEAKER_15Well, that that is a serious So you can have some bad nays after that. I do, I go home in the fetal position after you're playing golf with these guys. Now you have to be a motivational speaker.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, well that went fucking well didn't What about Can you be serious about this one? Who's your hero? Who's my hero? My wife. My wife is. She works sixty hours a week, puts in the hard yards, raised three four kids, done a great job. So you can't go past what she's done in the last ten years, did a degree, did a postgrad, apparently started. Great business she started, and we worked together on it. And to get to where she is today, it's a and she's always got a massive smile on her face, huh? Always a smile on her face, but also she's battened well above her weight. With you with mate. Yeah, I've got the same problem with Carly here. I've got the same problem with Carly. Now, have you told her you loved her and all that? Regularly? Every day. Every day. That's beautiful, mate. Carl Ark. You have a good day of golf today. Thank you for coming on. How you going, mate? Well, I've found I've found did I the twenty people tipped you to win today? Twenty. I've just found the uh club the clubhouse leader, is it? Todd. Todd. Todd. Clubhouse leader.
SPEAKER_03Normie. I think the normie reckons he's gonna fucking smoke here today. He probably will. He's a good chance. You played well yesterday, sorry. I did, yeah. So Sammy, what do you think of the course today? Well yesterday I've been out there yet. Yesterday it was perfect. Screen keepers have done a good job. Outscene job. Best I've seen a plane in a long, long time. I mean I'm excited to get out there. Hopefully the greens are quick like yesterday, and um yeah, we'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_08Who's your threat? All of them. I didn't have a big night. I was I got home late, but not too much alcohol, which was good. But I reckon um last year's winner got in at 7 30 this morning. Oh yes, yeah, yeah, no. But is that did he take yesterday? He did, yeah.
SPEAKER_03He didn't have a great day yesterday. Yeah, yeah, he he didn't stop. Yeah, I don't think he slept. Yeah, yeah, he's out there. Have you got any I don't think he slept. We got a video from him at 6 30 and he was in bed with a gold and he filmed outside and it was daylight.
SPEAKER_08Have you got any advice that Griffily shot 20 after the first two holes? Take those take that six pack of rums that he got and drink them all. Yeah, cinematic. Hey, if there's someone, you know the podcast is all about mental health and all that sort of shit. If there's someone having a shitty bitty day today that's um thinks maybe doing something stupid or just staying home in bed, what advice would you give as a young fella?
SPEAKER_03Oh mate, it it beats work and at the end of the day, you know, dolls the sport, it's it's you know, we're out here to have fun, enjoy enjoy time away from wife with our mates and at the end of the day, you just don't need to take it too seriously. One more point before you start practicing it. Who's your hero? Uh my dad. My dad. A lot of trade coming. 100%, mate. 100. Uh eaps.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. Eaps, mate. Yeah. Thanks, mate. Have a good day. Hey, cheers, mate. Cheers. Appreciate it. Well, welcome back to the Townsville Open. I have one of my favourite podcasters, uh, the Shuy Schumann, today. I don't know, but it's uh it seems a very tight contest today. Who's your tip for a start?
SPEAKER_04Well, depending on I think young Stanny Harrison will uh he'll put in a good show. I think he'll be he'll go close to winning the open.
SPEAKER_08Sammy switched on for it today. Did Sammy have a big night last night? Mega here? No. And uh did he? That works very well, Carly, to say a sentence without saying that's way worse. Big eyed the shark call is is fucking too deep to call, bro. Is it the shark is that where all the shark thing is, is it? You're not a shark. You're a logger. I'm just doing it. And stay guy is only caught between first and eleven. You gotta you can't just sit on the fence, do it. I guess. Big ride. After now. Big eye. Hmm.
SPEAKER_07There's some shady characters in Big Eyes. Shiddy. So odd guy with Case Dipple could be a smoky odd thing.
SPEAKER_08Case Dipple? Auddy. Hey, the uh fight a casey yesterday. More of a drive. Yeah? Nah. Yeah, but you can have a round ADR if you have a few of the skinners. I think Dan Waterson. I know Dan Waterson. Dan's a he's a young country New South Wales boy like me. Right. And that's you we're from Tumid, aren't you? I'm from Tinga, he's from in rural. That was close. That was 25 clicks apart. How's uh being a grandfather?
SPEAKER_07Fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_08Is it? You gotta if you got a good smile on your dial there. I love it. Alright, just a few questions to finish out. Bertie's all beers today. Over or under your handicap. I reckon on it. On it? Well, you gotta come back at Bertie, Randy. You gotta come back at it. You still get uh what's your co what's your confidence uh level out of ten. After yesterday, fucking 4.5. Do you still get first team errors? No. You sure? Yeah. You thinking about, well, we had enough years, I'm good then. Yeah, you reckon you're going in the water on the first No. Night. I thought the while snapped within the fucking thing yesterday. Safe player hero shots today. Safe. Ooh. Lady handicapped, you taught me that. You did teach me something. I didn't know. I always do I. I listen. How many balls are you packing? No, no, I'm not the steering sap. No one. Buster to in your sack? Yes, yeah. Oh yeah. I lost that. Oh I yeah, years ago, no. That's an interesting conversation. I lost those years ago. Sure, he wants to cut me uh mullet off. See this, I might stay for a cure one there.
SPEAKER_15That'd be a good idea, wouldn't it? I reckon I reckon I'll just shave your head, or I can just hold you down and do it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but that's alright, but we've got to raise the money to it. That's what I'm waiting for.
SPEAKER_15Well, we can do it live on a podcast. Yeah, we can, but I'll show you here.
SPEAKER_13Why don't you get your head shaved? Because I'm not allowed. You're right, Annie.
SPEAKER_10He has grabbed He has grabbed Paul Before one of the forms, like phase my head before leaving the trailer. And it gets seen off before that.
SPEAKER_15And she said, Don't ever fucking do that again. When you get overseas.
SPEAKER_08Don't worry, I do the podcast if we know it's really bit.
SPEAKER_03Um who do you reckon will have a uh hangover special on the two today?
SPEAKER_15Nick Stedman. Nick Stedman. We got home at Kevin Dirty this morning. Wow, or a nine o'clock three or three. Every disgust he is a lot younger and I'm very young. We could do it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, thank you. Darrell Kelly. Daryl Kelly was my first first. Uh I don't know. Have you rang him up and tell him you loved him to follow the Uli? No. Couldn't do that, huh? I was fucking in the speaker. I rang the full level.
SPEAKER_13Hey, David Shuri shooters are coming back on the podcast.
SPEAKER_08Thank you. Excuse me, we're like looking at the camera here. And Nor one of the contenders today for further health. Yeah. Did they have a good rest up or has it maybe a preparation? Is it normally you hang one on? Yeah, it's a bit further on it. Yeah. Now enough, aren't they? Yeah, not as many as I usually have. And has an Indian cooking. No, well, it's all Indian or Mexican this week. Mexican this week? Yeah, I changed a midweek. He looks a bit like it. He identifies as a cat to the government too, by the way. I um interviewed Katie Buckley there before and said, Are you playing? She goes, No, it's a men's cup. And I said, Well, it doesn't really matter these days, does it? You know, you could put I didn't say that to Katie, but you you could put a gift mask on and a strap on and probably get away as a bloke there, could you? Well, Shane works for Shane Kennedy. Yeah. So you want to come in, Steve, and I'll get you in a minute. Yes, you will. Yes, you will. It's like for the better for the Tanfield Golf Club. That's Steve nearly kicking out, alright? I'll get him later. Uh alright, just quick not to hold you up because I know you've got a massive preparation to do. What's your favourite at the moment on this course, front line or back nine?
SPEAKER_09Probably front, but honestly and truly, the way the course is playing is unbelievable. Is it? Yeah, the dreams are awesome. Green keeper needs a good pat on the back and their stuff. They've just done an hour stinch.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and one other thing I asked a few people today, Tony Kilby, the a captain I got earlier and forgotten because I've got a memory like a fucking belt. But it's gone up from 135 to 190 this year, is that correct? In participants? Yes. Yeah, I think we got 194 today. Tiny four hours. Alright, so um is it dri driver behaving or is it on in the bag? No, driver's behaving. Yeah. Fair as you are today. Oh, what under Oh. You're a bit nervous? It does still get first teen ner So yeah, you do a wee bit. But especially because I'm a bit older than the other boys and they're all a bit younger as well. So is there this little thing I want to knock the kids off and they're not ready to win it yet? Well, Nick's out. You know, Nick's and he's he's got home at 7.30 this morning, too. He's he's disheveled like we probably were in the young days, mate. Uh it frightened the shit out of me. Who's your tip apart from yourself? Who's gonna who's gonna be coming at you? It'll be a only group, I think. I'll tell you what, Andy K. If he if he turns one on, he's a dark horse. Oh, definitely. Jeremy could just rattle off four or five booties off. Oh really? He did on the back nine yesterday, I had a look at his card. Is there much banter going on in this comp like normal Thursdays and Saturdays? Or is it Yeah, if you're with the same people sort of you always gotta have that banter. You gotta have that you just know when not to push it too far. But it wouldn't be at the same level. No. Uh you're gonna say respect. You're still trying to get in their head. That's right.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Because it's a two-day tournament. Yeah. So you don't want to get in someone's head and then blow them out the first day.
SPEAKER_08Yep. So uh you reckon Sammy's gonna win it. How many balls are you packing apart from the two in your sack? Do you uh need No, don't you lose any? No, the one will look. Mel's already got the other two. Always change a ball after nine anyway, so you missed that question. Mel's already got the other two. She carries them around everywhere. Let's meet every once in a while. And I'd be uh I don't even know what words I'm talking about. I've forgot I've even forgotten the fucking dictionary. It's like with this meta case. No, it's easy to do. Have you spent a day in the cart with me yet? I've got to have you. We burst some personal. Just saying that, Danny reckons anyway. After this say yesterday. Who is your hero? That's what you're on. Who's my hero? Yeah. What is in golf? Golf clubs. Anyone who's inspired you to be the norm pie these days. There's gonna be someone that's influenced your life. Oh, I think just lots of people. What about yourself? Well, lots of people. People you meet. Would you call yourself a hero? No, I don't think something's one of the boys that you're a lion's been pretty colourful. Well, it has been. And look, you're still standing. It's not that bad.
SPEAKER_09I think just um honestly spend time to listen to people and pick up little bits here and there. Yeah. And just yeah, enjoy life.
SPEAKER_08Your favourite line from Tim McKee when he was on the podcast said you can't have three shit days in a row. That's pretty true. It you can have one. You might have two, but get off your ass. Go and ring someone that cares about you. Who's a hero? We haven't got you.
SPEAKER_02I haven't got a big hero. As I said, I just think little bits of people along the way.
SPEAKER_09I haven't got anybody that's A lot of everyone.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, a lot of everybody. I think you take a little bit of everyone that you think. Have you have you have you rang and told the person closest to you that you love 'em lately? Yeah, Mark Green, I always text him most nice, telling him what I've done. Yeah, for the eulogy, 'cause that's something big on this podcast. I think we've got to tell people a bit more that we care about each other. Yeah. And and we love each other and 'cause it's no use saying it when they're fucking in the box, is it? That's right. Good on you, Nori. Why today? Thank you. Get out, you guys. Won the second piece. It's a bit fun, isn't it? But there's going. So do you do you mind it when the um the golf's you gotta wait or you like to fly?
SPEAKER_05Fly is always better, but you can't go wrong with fears are cold, JD's a cold. Have a strong.
SPEAKER_08The bloody theme around this game of golf.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_08It is. So you're on a podcast called Who Is Your Hero? Uh we've got a million downloads on it now, and I start out when the kidneys got crooked in the hospital. What a great day to come out and it's a revolver around men's health, women's health and all that.
SPEAKER_05You know, is gol is golf your medium, you think, or it's it's more go to to relax and get away from work and um I can turn off and hang out with mate. And the comrade re and the beers. What would you say to any sort of how old are you, mate?
SPEAKER_08I'm 37, 30 ten. What would you say to your guy in your you know 25 to 40 that's doing I mean the world's fucking nuts at the moment. Yep. But so that well, you got any advice of someone that's that's feeling a bit shitty bitty or wants to do today or can't get out of the house.
SPEAKER_05My biggest thing is well what I would say would be reach out to someone. Doesn't matter who it is, whether it could be your mum, your dad, your mate, your neighbour. Yeah. Reach out to them. There's someone that's an issue shared as an issue half. So it can be it can take a lot off your shoulders just by talking to someone and you know, you never know, like your neighbour or someone else might have been through where you are and give you some advice. Give you some how they got through it.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and it's working really well now. Where are you on the leaderboard at the moment? Second nothing. Could you booty that one or part? Nah, part of it. They're all part of this. David's still leading. Yeah. Yeah, he's got me. This is by inside together, isn't it? Um and last of all, because the podcast is called Who's the Hero?
SPEAKER_05Who's the hero? My old man. Beautiful, mate. He's um He showed me, he told me what needs to be a man to treat the people that you love with admiration and care. There isn't someone I wouldn't go to that if I needed a voice of fun before it begins. When did you tell him you loved him last? Friday at work, when I was leaving work, because I work for him. That's beautiful.
SPEAKER_08That's what I'm calling to highway. Your mates, your girlfriend, your wife, your mum, your grandmother, race up and tell him you love him and you love because anything could happen to us. That's Lumeric. Today, Jamie. Cheers, thank you very much for thanks for your time. Cheers. Well, bugging me dead. I'll run into Mel Hey Tuk. Hey Luck. Hey Luck. If I fuck that one up. I fuck a lot up on this podcast.
SPEAKER_19Really?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I do, because um I don't know what's gone with my mind. Hey, you enjoying the day, here's it going. Yeah, I'm good. No hiccup. Hi, the big boys here. Big boys here. Um the Grand Cubers, what a what a dump they've done.
SPEAKER_23Yep, no, it's good.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, a lot of people saying the course is as as good as it's ever been.
SPEAKER_01At the moment, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. No, I you're not gonna pick normal.
SPEAKER_20No. Uh for about half an hour.
SPEAKER_08You found it yesterday.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_08It's gonna be great. Oh, you're well you're well done. I don't know.
SPEAKER_06I don't know.
SPEAKER_08Fucking hell. Or would you say to any you know, the the podcasters around mental health, and I think this golf club is really good for mental health for the boys and girls to come out and, you know, just talk shit and bit of feedback the other week that it was a bit up itself the golf club and hard to get along with the secret men's club, do you reckon? I don't.
SPEAKER_01There is probably a couple of groups there.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. A majority. Majority of very welcoming it. Absolutely. Yeah, what would you say to a young fellow, a young girl, or anyone that's suffering a bit this morning or getting out of bed? What to do?
SPEAKER_01Just get up your day.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Get out, do something different.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, who's your hero?
SPEAKER_01Who's my hero? I don't know. Don't know what we got on.
SPEAKER_08Maybe yourself? No way. You're pretty heroic. You can say yourself, that's the best answer.
SPEAKER_01No way, not me.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but you're pretty cool, you're a mum. I'm I'm a four big job looking after Normi. This is all on. Is he your hero? Sundays. Well, there's a da. Hey Mel, thanks for coming on. You enjoy your day. No problem. Thanks. Mate, if you haven't been down to the amazing Townsville Golf Club lately, what are you doing with yourself? This place is absolutely humming. One of the best courses in North Queensland, Unreal Greens, Magic People, cold beers, good love. And now the swing cage is becoming one of the hottest spots in town. Whether you're a scratch marker, a weekend slicer, or just out there for a bucket of balls and a yarn with your mates, the swing cage has got you covered. Smash balls under lights, warm up before you're round, bring the kids, bring the crew, even book a function, and parties while you're at it. Let me tell you, there's nothing better than belt the few down the range with a schooner in one hand after work. That's therapy, North Queensland style. Massive thanks to the Townsville Golf Club for getting behind Car Chronicles and letting us record live out on course between the shots. The support for the club, the members, the staff, and the legends around the place have been bloody unreal. So next time you're looking for a hit, a feed, a function, or just a bloody good atmosphere, get yourself down to the Townshell Golf Club and tell 'em, Buzz Sanctuar. Well, we got Jerry from Jerry and the Jerry and the fucking toll makers. Hello, how you going? How you hitting them, bro? Oh yeah, all over the place. Thank you. Are you? So how's it how's it been for you?
SPEAKER_24Is that terrible? Uh it's been a really good, a little bit a little bit downgrade from yesterday. But still been going a bit slower. Other grade.
SPEAKER_08No, no, no. I'm playing shit. Yesterday was a hub. They reckon the golf course is immaculate, is it? It is a good, it is a good, really well done, boys. Um in Green Keeper's shit. Yeah, well done. Bit too good for you? Yeah. You have a nice day. I'll see you after. Thank you. See? I'm practicing Matthew. What do you talk about, Matthew? I don't know. We're going alright today. I found Peter Walker. Get in here, mate. On the driving range. On the driving range, warming up. He's a guest of who's your hero this morning. And Peter is the Queensland Country Bank main man that throws all the cash at this tournament. No, how how is your game yesterday? Sounds Matthew, that's all I heard. Sounds down. And you played with someone I'm looking for that raised the bat. Plus 120. Yes, he did the Brabant. Yeah. And uh he just couldn't connect. Well, that's okay. He's come back today. It's not just about that, it's about also just getting out of here. So from past years, how's the field? Uh 196 this year, Matt. So what what do we have? Let's see. 135. That's that's that's bloody terrific. Who's your uh who's your tip? Would have to be right now. There's a good group playing with Andy K, Normie Kai, Sammy. Tommy? Sammy's got the runs on the board, but I'll put a smokey out there and say it might be Andy K. Yeah, well that's my tip. Okay, what if you keep hitting them like that, Walker? No. You're you could be a chaz. I'm gonna use up all my stuff before I get out there, mate. That's a problem. Right, I say what ha what happens today? Everyone's hitting off from T1, I believe. They started at 6.45 this morning. Oh, they're out there, are they? Yep. You're hitting a good ball. And it'll go through to about 12.45, the last group.
SPEAKER_22Yep. They might come home in the dark, but that's okay. We got some powers.
SPEAKER_08How long's the uh Queensland Country Bank been involved in this tournament? Only first, second year, mate? Is it? Yeah. And good for the bank? Yeah. Oh yeah. Tor Mike Toyota is our main one. Okay. So they do all the heavy lifting? Yeah. Which is really good and have been a good supporter of us for the club here for. And I'd be amiss if I didn't ask you before I leave, who's your hero? My dad. Your dad? Still alive? No. Fast way at 68, unfortunately, with that's early. Yeah. But he taught you he taught you everything you knew. Yeah. Hockey background and Thanks, bro. Easy. We'll catch you after the event. I'm looking for Griffo. Yes. Good luck. Alright, we're nearing the candidate here. I don't know what sort of moody be, but he wasn't bad in the locker room. But twenty, twenty after.
SPEAKER_23It is crazy stuff here. Now I'm just sneaking up on him here. Just sneaking up on in here. Right, here's the man. There he is, the man in question now. Now Griffo, do you know what's going on here? Just say They've sent you out a six-pack of rum from the clubhouse. The boys happy because they believe you've had fucking twenty in two sh two holes. Is that correct?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Is that one of the green on this one? You got a green. Is a six-pack of rum for you? I don't think it's the right way around, but thank Chewy. Oh shit. Yeah, like Chewy. But it can't get any worse. You enjoy your day. Thank you all.
SPEAKER_08What's that, Charlie? What about yourself? So you you know what a chance for any trophies? Any trophy winners in this group? What's that? Roll the dog.
SPEAKER_03Last year. What's he gonna do?
SPEAKER_05You missed everything.
SPEAKER_08That's my sort of shot. Yeah. You have a good day, fellas. Hope it gets better.
SPEAKER_13There you go, saying it's super. Please, it's a gross. I'm not used to it. It was like Yan. What you're on. Yeah, no fat up. This looks this black up, right? What a bloke is real, I'll give you a blip better. He's kinda stupid. Yeah, nice. Forgive me. I didn't predict off plane. Here you are.
SPEAKER_17Better than the first night, thanks for watching. Enjoying myself a little bit more. You're considering myself a golf cover.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Enjoy the day, yeah. Thanks.
SPEAKER_08Oh buddy bang there. That is a cracking job. Let us stop on the idea. He loves the camera first. I thank you on Tally recently. Right shot. You're in the game.
SPEAKER_03Green caves have done a wonderful job in that.
SPEAKER_18They do. I love every single one of them. Yeah. And not so much.
SPEAKER_17Oh, that's another good one.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that's alright. Thanks for coming. I'm still following you. I'm down here for a reach. Not myself. Uh the gear. I'm gonna have to pop home and put it on the charger for a bit. I'll just follow these guys up and see how they end the eight days. Well, this is this is their uh last part. Does everyone say I don't know what's first? Then you now have to get a bit of shit.
SPEAKER_24Well, I just forgot some shit then.
SPEAKER_17Okay, never on getting a right course management here is probably all around.
SPEAKER_24That's not me.
SPEAKER_17Wrong ball! Oh so the crowd not nearly the crowd they want me to tip. Um I don't think so. I've got that still.
SPEAKER_08I'm tipping with the powder over. Hang on, no pressure. Million, million builds I've got there. One million builds.
SPEAKER_17No.
SPEAKER_24I'm talking to one.
SPEAKER_17And uh then I will try myself to have another part? Yeah, and maybe not.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, we we played table four from six posts ago.
SPEAKER_24What what's your handicap? Seven today. Seven. Okay, but that's a wrong idea. Needs to be hit a little bit more, but I'm happy. You know, if you fought that, you would have been quite right. I might be in the creek when I'm flopping.
SPEAKER_16The fucking zapping the frack wasn't.
SPEAKER_18Hey Joan, you make a body here. Okay, let's make a move to the clubhouse and drink this bar.
SPEAKER_23That's that's what you want to say. That's great to sit there.
SPEAKER_18It is a good spot, yeah, yeah, yeah. Actually, the club, the club, they've done a great job about setting everything up for us.
SPEAKER_16I'm playing it a little bit from the left.
SPEAKER_18Uh yeah, that's the first time I'm doing it. It works.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, no, no, follow the run.
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I'll finish it.
SPEAKER_03No worries.
SPEAKER_10Thanks.
SPEAKER_13Tablefront?
SPEAKER_08Nah, it's not everybody play. Stablefront. No, not gonna wait today, brother. Oh, it's hilarious. That's the tall isn't like uh good.
SPEAKER_18Uh it's quite busy at the moment. Yeah, it's it's all good. It's all good. Building industries are on, it's booming. Around the town and outside the town. We're taking a lot of jobs outside the town. Shipping around at the moment. Papua New Guinea, getting eaten. I used to say a big shooting in that big. Oh man, it's uh the the Thursday is not that bad, but the the the horn is shit up. Not that fucking fun.
SPEAKER_16Fucking scary. Come on, Johnny! Come on, Johnny.
SPEAKER_10Alright, that's it, thank you. That merely got Mum Fab.
SPEAKER_16That's the in Badillia's so sharp. That's Balloon? Hello. How'd you go, mate? I went okay. I'll see that.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I'm gonna.
SPEAKER_09How are you doing? So what's your hit? And a four-over pass 35 today. The boys were harassing me. I was just down there in the flop zone and the boys um harassed me, so I putted it. Made bogey, but that's fine. Yeah, considering where I was.
SPEAKER_10It's a hard hole though. That's yeah, there's a very, very difficult hole. I hit I hit a flush four-line and it just got caught up in the wind and ended up down there. It was about pin hostage. Who's your tip? It's hard to say. I've been keeping it on the stores and they're all under a bit of a chocolate, right? I think John Aspinell's a good um good figure. It says Sammy and uh Normigan and no that is in bogeys and feels pretty over there.
SPEAKER_15Here we go. It's yeah small for the camera.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, and I just gotta get me balls off this fucking thing. We have life from the balls. No pressure. Yeah, we want him to go in the bunkers here in the flopper from over there. Here we go. Don't shot it.
SPEAKER_08Do you like the camera? Who's got the floppy ear? Who's got the floppy ear? Wanna make it easier for myself?
SPEAKER_13Good flop shot, please, sir.
SPEAKER_08A what?
SPEAKER_13Huh?
SPEAKER_03We're gonna knife him through the bunker.
SPEAKER_13I want everyone through one of their elf. That's true. I'm just about to put him now. Sorry.
SPEAKER_08No, that's not it, does it? Flop's own ear. Alright, it's in the park. Old mate with the ducks going in.
SPEAKER_13What do you want it, Scrick? Well, I've joined here with Nick, Australian champion. Thank you his sponsors.
SPEAKER_08Welcome to Who is Your Hero? And let's thank Queensland Country Bank for sponsoring this great and Mike Carney Toyota. What a great event it has been.
SPEAKER_20And we're joined here with Australian champion and last year's rating champion, Nicholas Steadman. Nick, tell us about how you played this weekend. Look, didn't really go my way. So it happens.
SPEAKER_16Yeah, yep. Just the game, mate. Just go out there and enjoy it. Have fun with this little whip of Sempariff.
SPEAKER_20And how was the food tonight? Nah, food's been outstanding there. Tell the fiddler on the Barbie. Yep. Whipping up a storm. Big Maddie Fiddler on the Barbie. Gordon Ramsey over there. No, no, we're talking about how we're great.
SPEAKER_08Definitely better than that curry that went through us this morning. I'm lucky, lucky I did. I mean, it's out of control. But yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_06Nick, what's your freak what's your goals for the end of this year? And what's your goals for moving on with the golf life?
SPEAKER_20Probably just drink beers.
SPEAKER_06Drink beers. That's the way, mate. That is completely the way. And what is your plans for next year?
SPEAKER_20Hopefully go to America. Go to America? Where?
SPEAKER_06Where are we going to sit in America?
SPEAKER_20Florida.
SPEAKER_06Wow.
SPEAKER_20A lot of good gold. A lot of good golf, of course. And it has a golf intrino. And what happened on that injury? I made a glass on your water. Fractured my ribs. It happens to the best of us. And finally, your last my last question. Who is your hero?
SPEAKER_13Oh, amazing. Thanks, folks. That'll do it. And we'll see you in the next one.
SPEAKER_08This place is absolutely humming. One of the best courses in North Queensland. Unreal Greens, magic people, cold beers, good love. And now the swing cage is becoming one of the hottest spots in town. So next time you're looking for a hit, a feed, a function, or just a bloody good atmosphere, get yourself down to the Townsville Golf Club and tell them Buzz Sancture.
SPEAKER_20He might he must he must have been around 2200.
SPEAKER_08That's a good role. Oh what a great part.
SPEAKER_16It's on uh any podcast.
SPEAKER_06You go your bad.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's on, I'll put it in.
SPEAKER_08It's another good chip for counting our feet.
SPEAKER_18Daryl is well known of uh a general sponsor of the town for golf course uh any time of the day. Uh we wish him luck with the last um part. We love him to see the the power here, but um it's still not given.
SPEAKER_0675. What'd you have on the front nine? Well three o'clock. What'd you have on the back nine? On a little bit of energy. Yeah. Fucking 75. It's a full over. What do you like you have? Oh, it's fair bit on that one. 71. Yeah, no, yeah. You wouldn't think so. I will all have fought to get the throne around like this. Was on the people.
SPEAKER_24Here we go, he's the part for dough.
SPEAKER_18Have a little look on uh Darrow Gilchrist uh he is lying in the path and he is going to not have it.
SPEAKER_14It's a little bit of frustration there, but he's got the top and uh usually all the A's together and then the B's together on the fish, nets and stuff first and the birth.
SPEAKER_21Do the nets first and the gross. Did um uh Matt Fiddler switching you. So he wants to record and video start. Senior. Start with Junior. Start with junior. Yeah, junior, senior. Tony. Yep, yeah, we're just getting these in order, mate. Then they're coming out. No, you're reading them on presenting them. So read from that one. I'll start with the acknowledgements and thanks and all that sort of stuff. Right, ladies and gents, uh just what we're finalising, getting some of the uh the uh presentation stuff in order. Um I'd like to thank firstly all the players that have come out from uh from near and far to play. Uh we had 191, 194 players this year versus 163 that we had last year, so it's a uh big step up. Their players coming from as far as Mackay, P and Cairns, uh, we don't end up with an event. So thanks very much for everybody that's come and play. Also, with all with uh an event like this, it doesn't happen if we don't have a sponsor. So I'd like to thank Mike Carney for uh sponsoring uh today.
SPEAKER_26But they do sponsor a lot for the club, yeah, and we do value uh their their support in no particular order. Uh I'd like to thank Kylie and the bar staff, they've worked like Trojans over the last couple of days.
SPEAKER_21Pete Walker and the House Committee for guys and everything through here, coordinating all the uh the events through the province. Uh, for those that came and played here last year or played here in the past, you'll notice how good the course is. Special thanks has to go to uh Mark, our current uh course super and the Green staff. The Green staff have all been here for quite a while. Mark is only fairly rucial to the team. Uh they've done a great job. There's a whole heap of other people that need to be thanked, uh, all the uh the volunteers that have all worked behind the scenes, either working on the grounds as volunteers, not as employees. People that worked in the club rooms, uh the catering and staff, all the starters and marshals, and everybody's been out uh trying to keep everybody moving around the course. Thank the players first, and they were first came off the rack. Right, uh I'll hand over to uh Mythia General Manager to uh read out all the results. Here we go.
SPEAKER_15Thanks, Sony. Welcome everybody. Okay, we're at least headed off, and uh it's great to body room in the region. So start, we're gonna go with the uh Jimmy Jacket. I score 7676, 152, it's Hunter Nep Round. If Hunter's not here, it's good. Uh next up is the senior Chen Geek. With uh scores of 70 yesterday, great round, and 80 today, 150. Louis. Louis, no one walked.
SPEAKER_13What we did.
SPEAKER_15We have a sea red. Next up. Right score of 177.
SPEAKER_13That's coming through that anyway.
SPEAKER_15Kind of score. What a god. And uh C Red with uh Jack Greyhouse with simple hop.
SPEAKER_21Well don't say.
SPEAKER_15A brilliant playoff between the two guiders of Solomon Duncan and uh runner up here. It's uh short video 178 rather to me.
SPEAKER_16It's a shrugged one, I can't believe it. Thank you for every weekend. I'll fly over to Newcastle tomorrow morning. I've had a grease dog to give him absolutely well for the dog court. Just coming on to me some days.
SPEAKER_21Uh a little bit. Good yes in the uh in the photo. We'll still stand here. Well, one on a uh very trying playoff.
SPEAKER_15One of the players, unfortunately, he went on, so he um just made it back to his playoffs, and that was a iter in the lab loss.
SPEAKER_04So uh that might be our winner, but the big way, John Channel. You recount the chip? Well done.
SPEAKER_13Trick time, did you? Thank you.
SPEAKER_18That's um I think bots at this uh like early. I uh supposed to be for local sport. Right. Like Partlets, Wiki, and uh just watch the air.
SPEAKER_10I think it 73 years, 11 pro 11, a light. I don't know whether it's been an hour.
SPEAKER_15So everyone, I didn't die, and uh course when it's only yesterday into the agreement now, so we're running after Agar Eddie, Royce scores a 71-74, Andrew K.
SPEAKER_21I thought it's Feet Pray had use a bit of dark horse to come up and uh win the uh win the grass. Uh that was for watts. Yes, sir. Had to use a bit of dark horse to get up and win.
SPEAKER_15There we should record as a winner with 7x73, gone for it for Jane Campbell. Oh, no.
SPEAKER_21Still in him, we're played.
SPEAKER_15He felt and uh Tauselo chip on 26. I've up to main mine. It's great to see him come up and uh the young fellows and give him his catch up. So uncellza 737143, Adam B Play.
SPEAKER_21Thank you.
SPEAKER_13Just told him.
SPEAKER_21I would just wish we get some more get some phone.
SPEAKER_04I'd basically always like to thank the sponsors on Mountain on the other boys of us. Sponsored the event. Big, big congratulations to Mitch or staff, far staff, Pro Shock staff, especially the uh round staff for an amazing golf course it is. Um yeah. I'd like to thank your mind partners throughout the weekend. We've had a couple of your mates come up with cans, which was uh great to catch up with those boys. Had a good day today with the uh number of the previous eight. Congratulations to all the other winners, and that's about it.
SPEAKER_15Just the uh Hubble to left, um, get to lots of it. So uh yes too, Grime Young on three, and there you go, O'Brien, 15 George, Koskowski, and all 18 various others. Down Saturday, and today Joko Loss or two, Red Del Poplow on three, Joe Ritten on 15, and uh Debbie McPhelen, or Johnny McPhill on uh 18, be right off. So that's uh all the prizes are wrapped up. We're gonna draw an L drawhouse, so you need to be here to Wizvier. And then after that, Burry Robinson. He's got to get bent.
SPEAKER_08Oh look, I got enough. Well, legends, that wraps up another absolutely unhealed edition of Card Caper. Live from the mic, Cardi Toyota, Downsville Open. That is thanks to every golf who jumped in, got on the mic today. Even the blokes who still shot 120 and somehow blame the greens. The wind, their para, their ex-wife, and the government for the same thing. To the A-Graders, thanks for pretending you're on the TJ 2 while bringing 12 screens before 3 offer. To the B-Graders, thanks for teaching us the potentially dangerous things. And to the C G riders, honestly. Thanks for keeping golf balls in business worldwide. You should have a staff of volunteers at the Townshell Golf Club. The course was meant to be the club and somehow they you still tolerated this circus for two straight guys. I need with more swearing and significantly less closing by that ATM. Big love to the sponsors, Mike County Toyota, Queensland Country Bank, and every supporter backing who is your hero. And remember, Legends, if your golf game was terrible this weekend, don't stress. You might have lost your ball. You might have lost your scorecard. You might have even lost your gig me. But don't ever lose yourself. Bring your mates, tell people you love them, and remember, you can only have one bad day. Maybe even two, but you're certainly not gonna have three. I'm Buzz, this is Think Car Chronicles episode five. And if you see Griffo still searching for his ball on the seventh hole Monday morning, tell him Buzz Think Car. Open out, and here I'm up.
