My update on how my summer went and what I completed or didn't complete over the summer.
Hi guys, welcome or welcome back to the Girl Got Girls podcast. I'm your host, Nadia Price. I'm pre-recording this episode, so by the time it's out, I'll be around two weeks into school. But I don't know if you guys remember, but earlier in the summer I made a video talking about everything I wanted to complete throughout the summer and how I wanted to use my time wisely. So I decided it would be perfect for this episode if I talked about everything I've completed this summer and some lessons I've learned. Okay, first, like I said in my previous episode, I said that I wanted to start my PSAT review, and I did. I started some of my PSAT review. I did a couple practice tests, and my first practice test I ever took, I thought I cooked that up. Like I thought I did so good. I was telling my mom, oh my gosh, the PSAT is so easy. And then I went to go greet it. I in fact did not do good at all. The English portion, especially, was so so hard. I am not the brightest when it comes to English. So I tried to get a little better at that, but then my driving consumed the rest of my summer basically. I had to take this course for my permit, start studying for my permit test, and I'm going to take my test in about like two weeks, and I'm a little scared. So the PSAT definitely got interrupted, definitely got distracted with everything driving. So it is so overstimulating. But I think I'm going to pick up the PSAT again during school because I'm taking it on October and I really just want to be solid at it. And then I also said in the previous video that I've been trying to get back into my loop, my faith loop, which has been super super hard. I've been feeling super distant from my faith. Not really, I've had to skip church sometimes for work, which has been horrible. And I definitely think that I struggled with that the most this summer. But I think I'm starting to shake back into things and start picking up my Bible every night, intentionally praying every day. I think something that helped that is I went to a girls' youth group that my church had, and my sister and her friends go to all the time. And so I thought it'd be fun to try it out. And it was so life-changing. There were so many girls there that just like had this fire and light for Jesus, like it was shining off of them so beautifully, and I was like, I want some of that, and they all had amazing talking points, and it just felt like such a good community to be surrounded in. So it definitely inspired me to be way more consistent in my faith and to open up about my struggles and just be super transparent in prayer and the different intentions. They had a lot of good ideas that would help me for intentional prayer because that has always been a struggle of mine. I normally do before bed and I just fall asleep, which is so bad. And again, I'm trying to break that habit. So yeah, I definitely think that that has been something that recently I've been getting back into, but it was definitely one of my biggest struggles to shake back into this summer. So I'm really trying to carry that with me through the school year because I normally get super busy and overwhelmed, and there's just so much in the school year, like football season, all this stuff. So I definitely want to keep my faith at a center. Next, I did say I wanted to connect with friends more over the summer and really like not forget the friendships I made throughout school, and I think I've done a pretty good job at that. I've been trying to make time for everyone, and I've connected with my friends very well, made some new friends, new friend groups, had a bunch of fun hangouts. So yeah, it's been a good balance. I've been trying to balance everything out, but I don't know. I feel like since I'm transferring from J Sarah to San Juan, I am just getting so much FOMO from my old school and my old friends and everything they're doing. Like, I just want to be there with them and be able to experience high school with them, and that has just been so sad. Like, we're both in tennis season right now, and it's like we are doing separate things in that season, and that was just like such a fun time for me because I loved my team so so so much, and I don't have that yet. I'm in new school, so that has been a lot of FOMO, and just all the fun things that they're doing at school, obviously, not the academics, but being able to be at lunch, break, mass, and all that together is just something I miss so much. But I think as school starts, that will slowly go away. Obviously, I'm going to miss them so much, and I'm still hanging out with them and everything. But I think that the FOMO is gonna get a little less as time goes on. So, with that, I'm super excited for school. I'm super excited for football season, homecoming, and all the fun things, and I'm excited to be busy, busy again because I've been busy, busy over summer, but school is just like a different breed. I love being super duper busy and having a lot of things on my plate that is manageable. So I'm really excited to get back in that. I'm excited to be able to get morning Starbucks on my way to school and all that, and I'm excited for the Fridays where I know that there's a football game, and you're just like so excited the entire day. Pepper Allies, everything. Just I'm so excited. Chef's kiss. Okay, in my previous episode, I also said how I've been getting on my health grind, I've been going to the gym, constantly trying to eat good, do some wellness, protein uh, like everything, and all that, and I think I've done such a good job with it. I prioritize the gym and eating right so so much. Like do some form of workout at least once a day, which is really, really good habit to have, and I'm trying to carry that into school year again. I know I'm gonna be so busy, but I'm gonna try and carry that with me because it has been such a good mental coping mechanism. I love everything that has come out of it, and pushing myself so hard in training is just so beneficial, and I I love it so much. And going along with wellness, I have, like I said, been doing tennis and had tryouts and everything, which I was so nervous for tryouts because I know some people on the team, but not a bunch of people, and again, I was so scared that I'm not gonna have that connection like I did with my old team because me and my old team had this like glue connection, we would always be together, and it was just like so so fun. And I love season and I love my coach and everything, and I love all the coaches at my new school and the girls. I just feel like I haven't made that bond connection with them yet, and everything takes time, so I'm okay with that. But I'm hoping that we get a little more bonded as season goes on, and those late matches and long bus rides and everything definitely bond people together, but yeah, tryouts were good, and I honestly have just been trusting the Lord's plane with everything for my new school because I know I just can't even fathom everything, and just like overwhelming, making new friends, and everything is so overwhelming. I want to end with the biggest lesson that I learned over this summer because I talked about what I got done over summer and kind of what I did, but the biggest lesson I learned over summer is I have a phone addiction, and I've always known that, but the summer really showed it. I am addicted to my phone. I think we all are a little, or maybe it's just me. But it has I just feel like I have wasted so much time on my phone, guys. Like, I I don't even know. I feel like I scroll way too much and I need to get out of that habit. I've been staying up late, I definitely need to get out of that habit, but I don't know. Let me know if you guys have any recommendations to get over a phone addiction because I just need to like throw my phone out the window or something, because I genuinely have no control. The algorithm TikTok is definitely keeping me hooked. And yeah, I've also learned to just the best thing to do when I'm stressing and scared, nervous for the future is to trust in the Lord's timing because it is so good, and his plan is so good, and it brings so much comfort to my life, especially when I'm feeling very, very anxious. And we always want everything to be so rushed, and like we want this, we want this now, now, now, now all this, and that's just not what our plan is, and that's not what God says our plan is. And so learning that we're not gonna get everything right away, and that He has a plan and timing for everything is just so comforting, and I have used that so much, I have prayed about that so much because it is so hard to trust. But at the end of the day, it is so good. Okay, and that is it for this episode. Let me know what you guys did this summer.
