This sermon explores the powerful moment of Pentecost in Acts 2, where the 120 believers, united in prayer and obedience, received the promised Holy Spirit after waiting on God. It highlights how this event fulfilled Jesus’ words that His followers would be empowered to witness, as the Spirit came with dramatic signs—wind, fire, and speaking in other tongues—drawing a diverse crowd and demonstrating that the gospel is for all people.

So, how many of you, just by a show of hands, have never heard me speak on a Sunday morning? Some hands just shows you how many new people we have. So if you know me at all, you know I like to bring a little bit of levity or humor in everything I do. So I was looking last time I spoke, I had mentioned some church bulletin bloopers. So I got some more of those today. I came up with six church bulletin bloopers, and it amazes me that these were actually in church bulletins. You'd think people would proofread, right? But these ones slip through the cracks. So you ready? Number six. For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs. Now, hopefully, all of you that have children know that you have them, okay? Number five. The sermon this morning is entitled, Jesus Walks on Water. Tonight's sermon is entitled Searching for Jesus. They get better. Number four, the topic of tonight's sermon is entitled, What is Hell? Come early and listen to the choir practice. Number three. Applications are now being accepted for two-year-old nursery workers. I wonder if we could pay a minimum minimum wage, you know? Two-year-old workers. Boy, they start them early here. Number two, this is good. Cremation may be your last chance to have a smoking hot body. And number one, are you ready for this? Ladies, don't forget about the rummage sale on Friday. It's a good chance to get rid of the things that you won't need or keeping around the house. Feel free to bring your husbands. Tears fulletin bloopers. So today's subject, we're gonna keep going in the book of Acts. Steve took us through chapter one. We're gonna start in chapter two. But these scriptures that we're gonna be going over this morning, especially the first four, have a special meaning to me because, and you'll find out why here very shortly. So let me give you the background of what's taking place here. Jesus had just ascended into heaven. 120 believers, including the disciples, are in an upper room. And they're all in one accord, they're all waiting. They're waiting. What are they waiting for? They're waiting for the helper to come, who's the Holy Spirit, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. Now, when I say they're waiting, the word waiting may have a different application than what you think of waiting. You know, I talk to people, I say, how you doing, other Christians, and they say, I'm just waiting on God, brother. And uh, or they're looking for a job, but I'm just waiting for God to move. They're not applying for anything, they're just waiting for God to move. I can almost picture them sitting on the front on their couch in a lotus position, doing nothing, waiting for God. I've got a different illustration that I think of when I think of waiting. Think about a server waiting on a table at a restaurant. They're actively serving with their gifts. They're not being passive, they're being serving, they're serving with their gifts, but they're in high expectancy and anticipation of what? Well, maybe a good tip, but the whole point is they're actively serving with their gift. You know, 2 Peter 1, 3 says, God's given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. If God's given us all things, what's he given us? Well, he's endowed everybody with characteristics and traits and gifts and talents and assets. But you know, all those things are not for yourself only, they're for the service of other people. So there are 120 people are in the upper room serving, waiting on each other, and they're on one accord. Now that that does not mean they're in a big Honda, okay? They're all on one accord. That means they had all things in common. So they bought and sold stuff and they shared it with everyone. Truly, mikasa is such a house is your house. So they're all on one accord, and Jesus told them he'd send a helper and to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit. So there's a couple scriptures that talk about this. In the last chapter, in chapter one, verses four and five, it says, being assembled together with them, he commanded them. Who commanded them? Jesus. He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which he said, You have heard from me, for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. So he's telling them, they're going to get baptized in the Holy Spirit, it's coming. Wait, tarry ye, don't leave Jerusalem, wait for the Holy Spirit. Couple of verses after that, in Acts 1, 8, he says, But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth. You shall receive power to become witnesses. You know, a lot of people think that the first sign of being baptized or being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues. I think the first sign is having power to witness to unbelievers. That happened to me, and I'll share more. And then in John 14, 26, Jesus again is speaking. He says, But the helper, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance the things that I said to you. So he's gonna be a helper. So the coming of the Holy Spirit. So if you have a Bible, turn there or have your phone, turn to chapter 2 in Acts, starting in verse 1. When you get there, look up to me. When a number of you have looked up, I will continue. I'm gonna be reading from the King James, New King James Version of the Bible. So a lot of you are looking, so here we go. Acts 2, 1 through 4. When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place, and suddenly, let me just stop right there. I love the word suddenly. I wake up every morning like a five-year-old on Christmas morning. My favorite scripture is Matthew 18, 3. Unless you be converted and become like a little child, you'll know wine is under the kingdom of heaven. That word become means childlikeness is something you can grow into and not out of as you get older. I've never lost it. I wake up every morning like a five-year-old because I know today could be the day, God, that you break out in your suddenness. And I say this every morning, give me a due word in due season for everybody that crosses my path. And he does that. So that word suddenly, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as of fire, and one sat upon each of them, and they were filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. These scriptures I just read, I lived. Not once, but two times in my life. This happened to me almost verbatim, like the book of Acts. I got saved November 19th, or November 18th, 1978. I knew nothing about God. 19, living on my own, spent every weekend, you know, hunting, fishing, trapping, drinking beer, and raising cane. And um there was a gal that would come into a restaurant that I really I thought she was just beautiful. She came in three times a week. Her name was Barbie Tester. One day I got the courage up and asked her out. She said, You seem like a nice guy. But I only go out with guys that go to church with me. And I thought, how hard can church be? So God of the Sneaky got me into a church. I walked in there, everybody was beautiful like Barbie, okay? And uh some music started playing, and I turned to say something to Barbie, and her eyes were closed, her hands were raised, and she was worshiping God. First time I ever experienced worship music. I looked around, everyone's doing the same thing. I thought, man, they're crazy here. I saw some words in the back of the church here on a screen or up at the front of the church on a screen. Realized that's what they were singing. It had a good beat. I'm tapping my toe. They had an altar call at the end of the service, I didn't respond. Why? Because it was fresh and new to me. But all day long, all I could think about was that altar call. That night I got down on my knees, 19 years old, living on my own, and I said a sinner's prayer. And I knew, I knew that I knew, that I knew that I knew, that I just transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light. My first thought was, I should probably read a Bible. I didn't know if I had one. I had a bookshelf full of books. Sure enough, there was a Bible there. I had no idea where it came from. I didn't know there was an Old Testament and a New Testament. I knew nothing about God. I started reading the New Testament. Why? I could pronounce the names. Two years later, I found out Nebuchadnezzar is not pronounced Nebuchadnezzar. And Malachi is not Malachi, the Italian prophet, you know. But I read all night, I cried all night. I had this tremendous sense of urgency that Jesus was coming soon. And so that was how I got saved. One month later, I'm talking to the guy about baptism of the Holy Spirit on the phone. So November 18th, December 18th, 1978. I was talking on a phone with a long stretchy cord. Remember those? They have remote phones now, you can take them anywhere. Long stretchy cord, you could stretch that baby to, you know, around a couple rooms. You know, remember when the phone rang, no caller ID, everybody ran to the phone because they they thought it could be for me. But you could take that cord and you go around a couple rooms, you go into a room and close the door, so you had some privacy if you're talking to your girlfriend or your buddies. So I'm on this cord. And I said, tell me about it. You know, baptism of the Holy Spirit. She said, Well, in the book of Acts, 120 were in an upper room, just like we just read. They're waiting in one accord, waiting for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It came in like a mighty rushing wind. They had tongues of fire and started speaking in other tongues. As soon as I heard mighty rushing wind, I heard a wind outside. And it got louder. And louder. And my front door blew open and a wind of fire came in my house. I'm terrified. I didn't know what to expect. I saw flames in this wind, but it wasn't hot. Things were flying off the walls. It was like being in a tornado. I'm terrified. I said to the guy, is this how it's supposed to happen? Is this how it's supposed to happen? Is this how it's supposed to be done? He said, just go with it, just go with it. It's probably a good thing. This wind of fire came and hit me. And I flew through the air about 10 feet backwards, and I hit the ground speaking in tongues. My life has never been the same. That was 48 years ago, just about. The first thing I noticed, besides the speaking in tongues, was it gave me power to witness to unbelievers. That first year I led about 400 people to the Lord. Everywhere I went, I'd pull up to a stoplight. There'd be put someone walking across the street. I'd roll down my window. Do you know Jesus? No. I'd park my car on the side of the road, run across the road and lead them to the Lord. I'd go to the grocery store, guy handling the melons. I said, put those down. Let me tell you about Jesus. I'd go to the bank. I'd hand to tell her some money for a deposit. I said, Do you know Jesus? She said, No. I'd grab her hand and say, Let's take care of that right now. I'd love to say my life has been a straight up climb for God. When you start doing things for God, boy, you come under attack, and my life has been like a pincushion. I've been through the wilderness, I've been through divorce. Jesus went through a wilderness. But it says when he came out, he came out in power. And so some of you may be in a wilderness today. That was almost 48 years ago. Three years ago, fast forward, I'm in India. How many of you heard of the 1040 window? A lot of hands. If you haven't heard of the 1040 window, it's a rectangle. Think of a big rectangle that goes over southern Asia, southern Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East, 10 degrees above the equator, 40 degrees below the equator, I think it is. Anyway, 5% of the world's missionaries go there, only 5% because they get killed. But every major religion was founded in the 1040 window. So I'm over in India. I'm praying for an unreached people group, a group that'd never been reached with the gospel. This village walked all day to come to another village. So I'm speaking through an interpreter, who's speaking through an interpreter, who's speaking to them. And I'm telling them about the Holy Spirit and being filled with the Holy Spirit. And I said, Is this something you want? And after we got through the second interpreter, people were raising their, nodding their heads. They almost worship Americans over there because they hold us in such high esteem. And I didn't want that. So I said, I'm going to pray for you all, but I'm not going to lay hands on any of you because I want you to see God's about to do this, not me. And so I said, when I start praying, the Holy Spirit's going to come in like a mighty rushing wind, and you're going to have tongues of fire and start speaking in other tongues. And I said that to the first interpreter. He interpreted to the second interpreter. Second interpreter interpreted to them. And as soon as he got done saying those words, a wind picked up. And people, they started falling like cordwood. 80 people in this village. And they started hitting the ground, screaming, speaking in tongues. The back of my hair was sticking straight up. So am I gonna tell you that everybody gets saved and or filled that way? No, but it still happens. And so today could be that day for you. Think about these things. I think whatever you can ponder in your heart, God can carry in your womb. The Holy Spirit hovered over the earth and Eden came forth. He hovered over Mary and Jesus came forth. Let him hover over you during this service as I'm speaking, as they're doing worship afterwards. Let's see what will come forth today. Lord, have your way with us. Holy Spirit, we give you full reign here. So the meaning of Pentecost, let me give you some context. Pentecost is a Greek word for 50th. Pentecost came 50 days after Passover. Passover celebrated the first fruits of the barley harvest. That's interesting. Pentecost came 50 days later. It celebrated the first fruits of the wheat harvest. So I read that and I'm thinking, barley wheat. Barley wheat. Lord, is there some significance between barley and wheat? And he said, yeah. And here's what I found out. Barley was used predominantly to feed animals. Animals were used as sacrifices to atone for people's sins. Leviticus talks about four qualifications a sacrifice had to meet to qualify, to is for it to use, be used as a sacrifice. They sacrificed goats, sheep, slam, pigeons if they were poor, whatever they could afford, really. But the first thing is whatever they sacrificed to the animal had to be male. Why? The birthright was always passed down to the male lineage. Number two, it had to be without blemish. It had to be the best of the flock. They couldn't take any old animal. They couldn't take a weakling lamb. They had to do the best of the best. Number three, there had to be bloodshed. Why? Because there's life in the blood. Number four, when they sacrificed that animal, the person whose sin it was being atoned for had to place their right hand on that animal's forehead. They take the animal out in the desert, they'd sacrifice the animal. God would identify that sacrifice with that person's sin. And that animal literally became a scapegoat for their sins. That's where the word scapegoat came from. Because sometimes they use goats. So Pentecost celebrated the first fruits of the wheat harvest. Wheat was used to feed man. God used a man as a sacrifice to atone for the sins of all mankind. Look at the four things. He was male, he was without blemish, he shed no sin, had no sin. He shed his blood for us. He died. We identify with him not by placing our right hands, we're by accepting him as our Lord and Savior. So there's a difference between barley and wheat. Pentecost, there's a lot of festivals in that Israel celebrated. Pentecost was the biggest celebrated festival. Why? Because it was at the time of year when the weather was great, it just made traveling conducive. So you can see in here, there's people from all over the all over the globe that came in for Pentecost. It's a big thing. Another distinction, in the Old Testament, Pentecost was known as the day that God gave the book of the law to Israel. In the New Testament, Pentecost was known as the day that God gave the Holy Spirit to the church. The Holy Spirit, which is a better law, because he's living within us. So I thought that was pretty neat. So back to Acts, verse 5. And there are dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. Pentecost was always the most attended festival of the major festivals. I just said that. But every nation was there, every tribe, every tongue. Why? Because it was so conducive to travel back then. Verse 6. And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together and were confused because everyone heard them speak in his own language. What sound were they talking about? Was it the sound of the mighty rushing wind? Was it the sound of everybody speaking in the tongue of another person there, a different country? You know, it said there are 120 in the upper room, right? No house could hold 120 people, let me tell you. Houses were small back then. And so they were more than likely they were in the temple, in the upper rooms of the temple. The upper rooms of the temple had open windows that, I mean, birds would fly in and out, everything. But they also have balconies. So did they hear that mighty rushing wind because it was so open, the area that we're in, or because maybe some went on the balcony and they're speaking in other tongues and and um and they heard it. But all the people were assembled in the courtyards, it said. So people heard this and they're amazed. Verse 7. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, Look, are not these those who speak Galileans? People from Galilee were known to be very uncultured and very poor speakers. The rest of the people from Jerusalem looked down at the people from Galilee. But here, they're seeing these Galileans speak articulately in their own tongue, all these different people from all over the world. And they were amazed. Verses 8 through 12. How is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born, Parthians, Medes, Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia? Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia, Phrygria, Pamphyla, Egypt, parts of Libya, adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs. Stop right there. Didn't I do a good job pronouncing those? Thank you very much. I'll be here all week. We hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God. So they were all amazed, perplexed, saying one to another, what could this mean? Verse 12. And said they were all amazed and perplexed, saying one to another, whatever could this mean? Know this. A spirit-powered manifestation needs an explanation. A manifestation also needs a proclamation. And Peter is about to give both of these. In verses 14 through 29 or 39, Peter gets up. And first he quotes from Joel 2.28. Then he quotes from Psalm 16. Then he quotes from Psalm 110. Almost that whole thing, 14 through 6 or 16 through 39, is the Old Testament that he's speaking. You know, I can think of no greater illustration than someone being filled with the Holy Spirit and receiving power to witness to unbelievers than Peter right here. Why? Days, just merely days ago, he denied Christ three times and he was terrified. This is a guy gets up in power. Verses 14 and 15. But Peter, standing with the eleven, that's really key, raised his voice and said to the men of Judea, because they said that those guys are drunk in verse 13. Men of Judea and I who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and heed my words, for these are not drunk as you suppose, since this is only the third hour of the day. Third hour of the day was like nine in the morning. So you're saying, like, guys, you're nuts. These guys aren't drunk. It's nine o'clock. But you notice it said standing with the eleven. What does that tell us? That tells us they were still in one accord. That tells us that not only did Peter get filled with the Holy Spirit, so did the eleven. Probably the 120, all of them got filled with the Holy Spirit. But they're all in one accord. They're standing there with him, and they're all as bold as him. That's really important. So let me give you five signs of a last days church. If you got a pen, you can start writing these down. Verse 17 talks about three of these. And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your young men shall see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. So number one, first signs of a last days church. There's no spirit barriers. No spirit barriers. God pours out a spirit on all flesh. So there's no spirit barriers. Number two, there's no gender barriers. It says your sons and your daughters will prophesy. So many people think women should not have any kind of leadership position in the church. Do you know what I think of that? You're missing out on half of the population of the world. Are you nuts? You're welcome. I'll pay you later. If God thought Adam could do it on his own, he wouldn't have created Eve. We need women in the church. Some of the most anointed, godly people I know are women. So, and we have a lot of them right here in church. So there's no gender barriers. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Number three, there's no age barriers. Your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. So it tells you right away whether you're a young man or an old man. I've had visions. That means I'm a young man. I tell people I'm only nine in dog years, you know. I'll be 67 in July, but it's still only nine in dog years. You know, that's my story, I'm sticking to it. Verses 18 through 21, the last two signs of a spirit-filled church. And on my men servants and my maidservants, so the slaves, the servants. I will pour out my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy. I'll show wonders in the heavens above, signs in the earth below, blood and fire and vapor and smoke, the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great Nazan day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. So number four, the fourth sign of a last days church. There's no economic barrier. So there are slaves and slave owners, maidservants and men servants, it said. Number five, there's no religious barrier. People all over the world were there. It's not just Jews, it's Jews and Gentiles that God poured out his spirit on all flesh. So five days or five signs of a last days church. So Peter gets up and Peter's sermon. You know, I said, I can think of no greater illustration of someone being baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit than Peter right there. He's got power to witness to the underbelievers. Verses 16 through 21, Peter is quoting right from Joel 2, 28 through 32. Young men shall see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. So the day after I got saved, November 19th, 1978, day after I got saved, let me tell you, the first two weeks after I got saved, a miracle happened. Miraculous things happened every day for two weeks. The first day they didn't happen, I cried for four hours because I thought I was grieving the Holy Spirit. I didn't realize. I thought Christians supposed miracles are supposed to happen every day. I didn't know. So I cried for like four hours. The second day after I got saved, I'm walking on the shores of Lake Superior. Lake Superior, if you don't know, is the biggest freshwater lake in the world. I'm a Minnesota originally, the westernmost part of Lake Superior abuts up to Minnesota. The beaches along Lake Superior are like the beach at the ocean. The biggest difference is it only changes like eight or nine degrees all year long. So people that don't know, they run in the water, and then it's almost like a cartoon character running on top of the water to get out because it's so cold. It's in the 30s, like in the summer. So talk about cold plunge. That's Lake Superior. I'm walking on the shores of Lake Superior, and I see this like movie screen about this big going off, and I'm seeing this vision. I'm standing on this platform. What I surmise is in Africa, because as far as I can see, in every direction are black people, natives. And I never knew that many people could assemble in one spot at one time until years later, I saw videos of Reinhard Bunkey's crusades. One crusade, a 10-day crusade, he had 6.2 million people there, and a million people got saved. One of the world's greatest all-time evangelists, Reinhardt Bunke. That was me preaching on that stage. That hasn't happened yet, but I'm thinking someday that may happen. Another vision that happened to me. I've had uh several, but I'm moving here. Moving day. September or October 17th, uh 2017. Or maybe it was a little bit earlier, October 10th. Anyway, I'm moving here. I moved here from Athens, Georgia. My oldest brother, a couple of my brothers live there. Steve's dad and brother live there. Go Dogs. Best college football town in America. Anyway, I'm moving here. I'm driving. I just crossed the Tennessee border. I pull into a wayside rest and another, like screens going off. And I see the front range corridor of Colorado from Boulder to Pueblo. It's so dry out here. It's like Isaiah 41. I see this dry ground breaking forth of a stream in the wilderness. And it got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. Started overflowing its banks. Now everything in the natural realm is patterned after something in the spiritual realm. In the natural realm, during flood time, the streams run together. In the spiritual realm, during revival, the denominations flow together. We step across our denominational fences and we love our brothers and sisters again. It should happen all the time. What's so great about our men's breakfast is we have between 400 and 430 guys every Tuesday, but 182 different churches are represented. That just doesn't happen, guys. If you put normally 182 churches together, it's gonna look like the Jerry Springer show. I mean, there's gonna be chairs thrown, someone's gonna be dating their grandma, you know. We're talking Jerry Springer. But it doesn't happen. And we'll do things like we'll take communion. Not every church agrees on communion. We'll do worship. Not every church agrees on worship. But I'll come up here to the stage, you know, Kyle's leading them in worship, and I'll video 400 guys with their hands raised worshiping God. There's something about that. Let me back up. And I'm trying to be respectful all the time and cram as much as I can in. Last year I got my master's. You know, I would for two years I had 16 to 19 papers due every week, and I was just fried all the time. But my thesis statement was the most effective way to turn a nation back to God is to mobilize men for ministry. So what I did is I researched five revivals over the last 200 years, three here in America, two abroad, and I looked at all the things they did to usher in revival, all the things they did to sustain revival, and the impact that those revivals had on society. Romans 2.11 said, God's not a respecter of purpose or persons, meaning what he's done for one, he can do for another. So if we do what they did, we'll get what they got, right? Four things they did to usher in revival. Number one is they had unity. We have unity in the men's breakfast, 182 churches. Number two, they had prolonged fervent prayer. James says the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Specificity produces fervency. If you know what to pray for, your prayers are gonna be more effective than offering up a gatling gun prayer that may or may not hit the target. It's like offering up a laser-guided smart bomb prayer that hones in and gets the job done. So prolonged fervent prayer. Number three is repentance and reconciliation. So we take communion. I tell guys, and we're gonna do communion this coming Tuesday, by the way, or the following Tuesday. I tell the guys, if you have a problem with anybody in the room, don't take communion. Get your heart right with them first, reconcile. And number four was a return to holiness. So we're continuing saying, and I'm continuing saying, God, search my heart. See if there's any wicked way in me. If there is, bring it to the surface, Lord, that I have to deal with it because I want to be right before you. As we do those four things, God's gonna move. You know, we're the National Day of Prayer. Um, it's coming up here on May 7th. But do you know that Colorado Springs is the headquarters for the National Day of Prayer? Shirley Dobson started it. So there's a couple of big churches, New Life and Woodman Valley. Haven't participated with a lot of the other churches during the National Day of Prayer. This year, they are. That's a sign that the body of Christ in Colorado Springs is coming together. Maybe for the first time in its existence. Where there's unity, God commands a blessing. The place of unity is always a place of power. So that's a really good thing. So anyway, I see this vision, front range corridor, from Boulder to Pueblo, and I see 40 people in this dream vision. And a couple of more women. I see them all clearly except for their faces, were blurred. One person was very clear, and that was Luengo. I'd known Lou since the 80s. I just assumed everyone was pastors. Everyone had an alabaster jar in their hand. Inside their jar were their hopes, their dreams, their visions, their agendas. And all of a sudden, as a love offering to God, they broke open their alabaster jars and poured them out as a love offering to God. They all joined hands and jumped in the river together. And God says, When you meet all 40 of these people, within a two-year period, there's gonna be a two million soul harvest from Boulder to Pueblo in Colorado. And a hundred million soul harvests in the United States. And he said, Al, that will be the beginning of the revival that has no end. I've met 27 of those people. When I meet one, God will say, They were in your vision. I'll look at the vision in my mind, and their face becomes clear. So God is on the move. There's no city like Colorado Springs. So in verses 16 through 21, he's talking about Joe 2, 28 through 32. He's quoting that. Verses 25 through 33, Peter is quoting Psalm 16. Verses 34 and 36. Peter is quoting Psalm 110. Verse 34. But David did not ascend into heavens, but he says to himself, The Lord said to him, to my Lord, sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool. Therefore, let all the house of Israel know surely that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ. Verses 37 through 39. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, men and brethren, what shall we do? I propose to you. That's the question of the day. What shall you do if God is speaking to your heart right now? There's gonna be a time when we have ministry. If God is speaking to you at all, what should you do? When it's ministry time, I want you to come running up to the front if you want to know what you should do. Peter said to him, Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and you'll receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the promises to you and your children, to all who are far off, and as many as the Lord God will call. So we're about to head into worship. But God is tugging on your hearts. I didn't respond to the altar call the first time I heard the message. All day long, all I could listen to or all I could think about was that altar call. We're about to have one after worship, but God is speaking to your heart. You don't have to wait and tell that altar call after the worship, come up front, get on your face, get on your knees. If you want more of God, if you want to be baptized with the Holy Spirit, if you want God to fill you up completely. God is so tired of weekend visitation with his church where he only sees some of you on Sunday morning. He wants full custody of your life. He didn't die halfway for you. You shouldn't give your life halfway to him. You've been bought with a price, every single one of you. He paid the ultimate price to redeem you back to himself. I'm not my own anymore. I've been bought with a price. My reasonable service to God is to give God everything I am. It's all his anyway, if that's tugging on your heart.
