Portland mother Allison Roberts joins Lars to discuss her lawsuit against Portland Public Schools after she says she was barred from her children’s school for protesting gender identity lessons and a pride flag display. Did the district violate her rights for speaking out?
Hey, welcome back to Lars Larson Show. It's a pleasure to be with you. I'm glad to get to your phone calls and emails. I think one and this is my opinion, but I think that one of the big lies that is told to parents all the time is that the schools want your involvement in how they teach their kids. I think the schools could uh would couldn't give a damn about your involvement. I think what they care about is that you pay your taxes and you keep your mouth shut. And when it's time to vote for a levy, you vote for the levy. Now, with that in mind, but that's my opinion, I want to invite Alison Roberts onto the show. She's a mother of two who is currently in the middle of a lawsuit against Portland Public Schools. Ms. Roberts, welcome to the program.
SPEAKER_01
Hi, Lars. Thanks for having me.
SPEAKER_00
And by the way, I know we've got your attorney keeping an eye on things because we don't want to mess things up because Timothy Snowball is at the Liberty Justice Center. But Ms. Roberts, tell me this so I don't contaminate this with my own point of view. How is it you got banned from your child's school?
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, um, thanks, Lars. Well, yeah, exactly what you started out by saying that these schools don't give a damn about the parents, and they really want they it's not inclusive. They really want you quiet unless you're towing their kind of party line. And even then, you know, you're you're kind of on the outskirts. So yeah, it was a it was just that seeing more increased, increased um political totems and symbolisms, um, and increased, increased social indoctrination is really what happened. I saw a myriad of different uh signs and symbols before I finally had a conversation with them.
SPEAKER_00
I want you to be specific, though. Was one of those things you saw a pride, so-called pride flag display? And what was that all about?
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, right. So we we we have approximately four benches at the school there um on elementary, and 100% of the benches were painted the pride flag uh the year before last, or I think even the year before that. It was all kind of COVID-ish times. Um, a lot people got a lot away with a lot at that time. The school certainly did and have since. Um, however, it was, yeah, it was the flags that were the pride flags, and people argued it's a rainbow. Okay, well, this year I I went in and I saw one of the benches with the progressive, unmistakable progressive intersectionality flag um representing trans, and that was the final straw for me. And that's when I inquired.
SPEAKER_00
What what did it tell you when you saw that? What did it say to you? Because again, I'm being very careful not to inject my opinion because I know what I would have said, but what was it saying to you?
SPEAKER_01
Well well, it absolutely now when you walk around in Portland, you will you will be slapped in the face if you're taking a walk by four or five different pride flags as you walk down the street. To see that, well, okay, fine, it's Portland, it's you know, kind of the Mecca for this. But to see it embedded in a school, um, anyone who's being honest, anyone who's being honest knows that that means the school is captured. It is no different than planting a flag when you've captured territory. Um, and and it told me exactly what was going on there. That it just confirmed everything that the school is an apparatus of the left. Um, and it got me digging even further. I mean, I had suspected this stuff, but I really, I I'm not one for spectacle, spectacle. I I truly am not. But I really didn't think that it would be my school. I mean, obviously Portland was Portland. Um, but I just you didn't you wouldn't think it would really happen at your school. And and sure enough, as soon as I asked, as soon as I asked, I was immediately rebuffed. And so I knew something was very hinky.
SPEAKER_00
Now, when they rebuffed you, did you did they say you're not allowed to ask about that or we don't want to talk? What was the what was the specific way that they pushed you back?
SPEAKER_01
So I'll get into some real specifics, Lars. All right, so what happened when I saw that pride, that, that progressive pride? I called the school, I spoke with the the principal, and I asked how that came to pass, how that came to be. She told me just a handful of teachers came and asked, or a handful of, I'm sorry, parents came and asked, and she just said yes. It was done in an afternoon with no questions asked. I thought it was peculiar, and I asked her about you know how we could go about maybe holding a vote or getting some um other opinions from the school. I did specifically mention if we're being inclusive, do you think a Muslim child wants to sit on that bench? Do you think a Christian child wants to sit? Are we not taking into consideration the fact that, you know, you have those children going there and this does not uh you know align with their ideologies?
unknown
I don't know.
SPEAKER_01
Yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00
No, I I just I think back to previous disputes over the last few decades where they'd say, well, we're gonna say the Pledge of Allegiance. You'd say, well, what about the atheist kid? You know, when you say one nation under God and he's made to feel or she's made to feel uncomfortable. Well, in this case, if you've got uh you know kids who are in a classroom whose parents say, no, uh we're we're not all about uh, you know, uh pride in LGBTQ or whatever, they're assuming that everybody in that classroom, every child in that classroom, will find that an equally acceptable idea based on the values of their of their parents and their and their family. And I don't think that's a good assumption. And yet the schools make that assumption when it comes to things like so-called pride.
SPEAKER_01
Well, I'm gonna tell you this, Lars, if I might. Um this isn't an assumption they're making. This this is my hypothesis, and and I and I think it's a good one. Um, here's the reality. When you look at uh autogomophilia, when you look at trans uh transgender or body dysmorphia, the numbers bear out that about 0.003% of humans are are are are truly medically uh trans. Um and so that's one in 60,000. So Portland Public Schools has about 42,000 students. So you don't even have a whole human being in in the collective schools representing trans. Um, and then we go to homosexuality and the numbers grow um a lot more. Um so the what's happening here, and this is this is exactly what's happening, they are being programmed to be confused and to question themselves and their gender gender and their gender identity. It is a way of making males in particular weak in this country. And when you go in there, what what happens? When I was in grade school, uh we would have assemblies to give gold stars to uh uh for perfect attendance or for most achieved. And so everybody wanted that. What does a child want? They want the gold star. I remember wanting it. I'm gonna try harder to be on time so that I can be, I can be um given given an accolade in front of the public eye. Now in these schools, we're saying the bench, the pride bench is what you aspire to. We have a pride parade at the end of the year. So you're telling kids if you really want attention, if you really want to be special, maybe you are a different gender. That and that that's really what's going on. If you want the brass ring, you're you're going to have to be different than what we don't really appreciate, which is a heterosexual male, particularly a white one. Uh so that's exactly what's going on. It's it's if you want the gold star, let's put the right gender in that genitor uh identity flower that we've given you.
SPEAKER_00
And at the very least, keep your mouth shut and and don't object to it. Don't say, hold on a second. In my par in my family, we don't believe in that kind of stuff. You say that. Exactly. And you understand as a child, even as a child, you're gonna understand you're gonna be in big trouble. Well, I wish you well in this lawsuit against the Portland public schools because you're right to stand up for your kids and for all the other kids out there. Ms. Roberts, thank you so much. I appreciate your time.
SPEAKER_01
Thank you so much, Lars. You have a wonderful day.
SPEAKER_00
And you as well. That is Alison Roberts, who is currently in the middle of a lawsuit involving the Portland public schools. And why is that? Because the Portland public schools have decided to indoctrinate your kids. And at the very least, they're going to tell them even if you don't support this stuff, don't open your mouth. If you say a word about it, you're gonna you're well, you're gonna be sorry later on. Back in a moment, you got the Lawrence Larson show. We'll talk about Governor Kotek, who's threatening citizens again.
