So if you join tonight, drop a purple heart in the chat if you're ready to party like it's 1999. Let me know where you're tuning in from. So far we got four.
SPEAKER_03Hopefully we can get a few more and get it started.
unknownHe doesn't hear rebel when he wants to make love to his woman. He is drunk.
SPEAKER_05Stephanie Mills, thanks for joining. Good to see you again. Glad you can make it. Whoever else is here, drop down in the chat. Throw some purple hearts up. Let us know where you're tuning in from. I know that I spoke with someone from one of the Prince groups up in New Jersey, and they asked if uh the group could join tonight. Of course, I welcome each and every Prince fan. Welcome all the purple fan from all over. How's everybody doing tonight? November 5th. Can't believe the year is almost over. Tonight, for those of you who have joined in, I've uh compiled uh a nice list of trivia questions for you. Um easy to hard and how it will work. I will ask the question. Can you type your answer in the chat? We'll go through four rounds from the basics all the way to deep cut prints history so we can see who's the true Prince expert tonight. Uh add four people here, drop down to two.
unknownI don't want to know.
SPEAKER_05I don't want to know why the ball is paying did a lot of promotion on this, so hopefully we'll get some decent uh decent turnout tonight. Thanks for joining. Drop down in the chat, throw a purple heart up, let us know where you're tuning in from again. So, what I'd like to do if I can get enough people to join tonight for this trivia is uh tab up the person that answered the most questions after the live stream is over. And I'm thinking of doing a giveaway. Maybe something like this. Thanks for joining tonight, brother. Got five. We can probably start with five. So basically, as I explained before, how it's gonna work. Um, I'll ask a question. You type your answer in the chat. We'll go through four rounds from the basics all the way to the deep cut prints history. We shall see who is a true prince expert tonight. We'll warm up with some easy ones. Hello from New Jersey. Adrian Post and Wiley, welcome. Thanks for joining in tonight. So we definitely have Stephanie Mills, we definitely have Steve Mercer, we definitely have Adrian Post and Wiley. Any more takers, drop down in the chat, throw a purple heart up, let us know where you're tuning in from, and we'll get started. So we're gonna just let this music play in the background as we go through some questions here. Hopefully, you guys can hear me over the music. Praying for Chris Varable tonight. Prayers up for Chris Varable. Hopefully I didn't destroy that last name. Alright, since we've got a few in here, we'll start out with some easy ones. These are for the I guess these would be for the casual fans who still rock the Purple Rain vinyl. These are pretty pretty basic. So let's go with we'll go with question number one. Question number one. Question number one is what is Princess's full birth name?
SPEAKER_04Pretty easy.
SPEAKER_02Tokyo. Do you want to dance? Where are you head?
unknownI want to see you.
SPEAKER_05You guys hear me okay? Yes, sir. Adrian posts on Wiley, Prince Rogers Nelson, of course. Of course. Prince Rogers Nelson, absolutely. I knew you guys would nail some of these uh first ones. Prayers up. Thanks for joining, Lady Cab Driver.
SPEAKER_02Lady Cab Driver.
SPEAKER_05She made it. Thanks for hanging out, guys. Thanks for hanging out, Lady Cab Driver. As I was explaining earlier, how it's gonna work. I'll just ask the questions. You guys type your answers in the chat. Going through about four rounds from the basics all the way to the deep cut prints history. Starting out with some easy ones. For your nonchalant Prince fans, the ones that are still rocking purple rain and only no prints with purple rain. Yeah. Finally. Let me uh see if I can throw some comments as they come in onto the stage as well. Don't know if you can see that. It's right there in the right-hand corner in the bottom. Alright, let's go. Chris uh question number two. What city was Prince born and raised in?
SPEAKER_04Another easy one.
SPEAKER_05You are a complete by, Will Russell. I love your set. Thank you so much, Lady Cab Driver. Always grateful for you. Everything you have to say. Steve Mercer, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yes, sir. You nailed it. All right. Steve nailed that one. Let's see. Question number three. What was Prince's debut album call? Everybody knows that one. Oh Lady Cab driver. Got it first for you. And then uh Tiffany Mills for you. Good job. All right. Moving on, question number four. Another easy one. Which movie made Prince a global superstar in nineteen eighty-four? Yeah, for you was absolutely killer, man. To be a debut album. I first heard it, knew that dude was gonna be something special. Purple Rain, Steve Mercer. Steve Mercer is on it. Rain, yes. Yeah, as I mentioned before, I think I'm thinking about doing this after the live stream is over, doing a tab to see who answered the most questions. And uh doing a giveaway. On maybe a 3121 tote bag or something. 3121 logo on the back, MPG Music Club on the back. It says, Don't you want to come? Nice. Question number five. Uh, what's the name of Prince's backing band during the Purple Rain era? Another easy one, another basic Revolution. Steve Mercer on it. Lady Cab driver on it. All right, this is probably the most easiest question ever asked about prince. We're gonna get through these basic questions. I know you diehards are waiting for the tough ones. So am I. So number six, what color is mostly associated with prince? Come on. Don't say green. Purple. Uh when Prince touched down in uh Sheridan, Wyoming in '86 for the for the premiere of one of the Cherry Moon. Martha Quinn asked him when he got off the plane, what's your impressions of Sheridan? Prince goes, Purple. That's all I can say. This is awesome. Thank you so much. Uh I'm gonna butcher the name, but the name is Yelts Me New York? Is that what it stands for? Although orange is Prince's favorite color. What? I don't think I even knew that. Awesome, thanks for joining. Yeltsmi, New York. You guys hear me over the music okay? The music too loud, or just right.
SPEAKER_01Somebody said Johnny Lane was in the house.
SPEAKER_05Um I was just talking to my partner last night about how we have never seen Purple Rain. What? Man, what are you waiting on, man? Movie came out in '84. Matter of fact, they just released a 4K version of Purple Rain. So get the 4K. Make sure you have a 4K DVD player because I tried it on my standard Blu-ray DVD player. Would not play, so I gotta get a 4K DVD player to play the 4K version of Purple Rain. Thank you so much, Lady Cab Driver. Can't wait to watch it. Yeah, you gotta see it. Shouting out other people. Hi Sue. Sue Robinson, thanks for joining tonight. Appreciate you. Alright, we're moving. Got about 12 folks in tonight. Not bad. Plenty to start with. We're going through the basic questions right now, the easy ones. Mostly all Prince fans know. Uh, number seven. Here we go. Uh what year did Prince pass away? We're getting there. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_04Twenty sixteen.
SPEAKER_05Steve Murphy's killing it, man. Steve's got fast hands. Twenty sixteen, twenty sixteen, twenty sixteen. Yep.
unknownWait a minute.
SPEAKER_05Pretty easy. Can't believe it's coming up on ten years.
SPEAKER_02I told you a few minutes ago.
SPEAKER_05I forgot to mention earlier.
unknownThat I didn't want you to come in.
SPEAKER_05Uh this I'm gonna pause for a second on the questions real quick and throw up uh the announcement that came out from the estate yesterday. Uh save the date for the 10th uh celebration of Princess Passing, uh celebration that's going on up in uh Minneapolis, Paisley, June 3rd, June 7th, 2026. Announcement came out yesterday. So at least they have the dates locked in, so we can kind of plan ahead. I'm definitely gonna be there this year, definitely for the 10th anniversary. I haven't been to a celebration since this passing, but this year definitely I plan to be there, as many folks probably plan to be there. 10 years this year already up. Steve Mercer will be there. Looking forward to meeting you guys up there. Oh, yeah, definitely, Stephanie, definitely going. This year, I will be there absolutely. And uh the save the date. Announcement says 10-year anniversary celebration of the Prince Celebration 2026, June 3rd to the 7th, 2026, Paisley Park, downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. A moment to gather, a moment to celebrate.
unknownThat's where we have my baby stay.
SPEAKER_05Um a moment to honor the music, creativity, and community that Prince created and continues to inspire and bring us all together. Absolutely. Alright. Back to Trivia Night, had to throw that in there real quick. Oh, my God's gonna make an effort.
unknownWait a minute.
SPEAKER_05Alright, where do we leave off? Let's see. Okay. Which instrument, number eight, which instrument did Prince play on most of his recording?
SPEAKER_04This could be a trick question.
SPEAKER_02Wait a minute. Something wrong, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Steve Mercer says guitar. Sue Robinson says guitar. Steve Mercer says finish track. Lady Cab drive guitar. Samantha Jackson, thanks for joining. She says piano. But you know what? How about maybe maybe since Prince was a multiple instrumentalist, notably guitar keys, bass, and drums, how about how about the answer could be all of them? All of the instruments? I know in a lot of his early recordings he played most of the instruments. All of them, yeah. That was kind of a trick question. Synth Lindrum. Thanks for joining, Mark. Almost said that. Yeah, that was a trick question. A little curveball for you guys. Master 27 instruments. Absolutely. Alright. Okay, let's let's let's go to round two. This is round two. And this is for the medium questions. Getting a little bit harder. Medium level. What was the first single? Question number nine from the Purple Rain album. What was the first single from the Purple Rain album? Thirty-nine. Samantha Jackson does cry, Steve Mercer when does cry. Still fairly easy. Absolutely. I think we all know that one. Okay, number ten. Which album features the hit Kiss? Steve Mercer. Parade. Mark. Parade. Absolutely parade. One of my favorite albums. That album was truly funky, though. I'm thinking about songs like Girls and Boys. Another lover holing your head.
SPEAKER_04Lady Cadriver. Let's go crazy, I thought.
SPEAKER_05Lady Cat Driver. No one could compete with him between eighty and eighty-eight. Yeah, absolutely. Prince was amazing in the eighties, man. But when was he not amazing? 80s, of course, he was huge. 90s, I love the 90s Prince. I love the 2000s Prince. Sue Robinson in one interview, he said thousands. I remember that interview, thousands. Wasn't that the Dick Clark interview? He was like 19 and he said thousands. And then Dick Clark was like thousands, and then Prent was like a lot. That interview was hilarious. Uh waiting on that super deluxe, D'Angelo even named it as his favorite funk album in that Nelson George interview. Yeah, yeah, he did. Yeah, I threw that interview up uh on social media a couple weeks ago. Yeah, that super deluxe. Can't wait to see that one, man. I guess we have to first get through the uh the release, the re-release of uh Around the World on the Day. That package is not thanks for the comments, guys. Thanks for the participation, I appreciate it. It's early 2000s, Jazz Phase 2. Yes. Rainbow Children. Love that album. Opening song on Purple Rain. Oh, this yeah, let's see. Let's go back to that question and see how it was asked. Oh, what was the first single from Purple Rain? The album? I think you're thinking about the the first track on the album, not necessarily the first single that was released. American dance thing, yeah. I'm trying to throw up all the comments that are coming in, make them larger so you guys can see what people are saying. Every album every album uh was a rebirth, but they are absolutely fantastic. Parade deluxe would have been would have to be twenty LPs. Eighty-five to eighty-six. We're so busy, yeah. You're absolutely right. Okay. Next question. Uh Windov's cry was unique because it did not include what instrument getting a little tougher. Bass Steve Mercer. Mark bass Stephanie Mills, bass. Oh, you guys are on it. Die Hearts. Average Prince fan would not have gotten that one, I don't think. Bass track. Right.
unknownLet's get it wrong.
SPEAKER_05I knew you guys would kill it. Okay, number 12. Ernie Wiles. Thanks for joining, Ernie. I don't think I've seen Ernie Wiles in here tonight. Thanks for joining. Appreciate you.
unknownTalk to the ladies.
SPEAKER_05Question number twelve. What was the name of Prince's eighty-seven double album that featured If I Was Your Girlfriend? Come on. Sign of the Times. Bring a while, sign of the Times. Sandra sixty four eleven, sign of the times. Thanks for joining Sandra Eleven sixty-four eleven. Sign of the times. Everybody's nailing it. You guys are killing it. We're gonna get to the tough ones. We gotta get through the the easy ones and the medium level ones. Then we'll get to the hard ones. Promise. I know you want to challenge. Okay, let's go. Let's uh I have so many memories of that year. Great soundtrack, Chick 87. Oh yeah. Definitely many memories memories attached to the soundtrack of our lives, right? Here's one, here's one from me.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_05Ernie is asking. Who do you think is crying in reverse in the movie Purple Rain? Streetsy roamed in search of the poem amongst all the game.
unknownCool dark skin and happy bird in white. Is it vanity?
SPEAKER_02Well she co-signed and tell me where she was shy. Cool, dark skin, and happy birds in white.
unknownShy.
SPEAKER_05Jill.
unknownShy. Looks like we're gonna take a long way home.
SPEAKER_05Ernie Wiles says uh Jill baby. Is it Jill or Vanity?
SPEAKER_02I don't know much loud on the word you said. I'll pass my initiation.
SPEAKER_05People are saying Lisa laughing. And then retaliation Lisa is Mark says Jill. Okay.
unknownNo regrets, no sorrow.
SPEAKER_05I can see that.
SPEAKER_02Going back tomorrow, make sure it's dead because if I don't call me a chick, but you can call me shy.
SPEAKER_05Okay, this is not one of the questions, but who was the person? Oh which song was it on? Was it at the end of DMSR, I think it was, and somebody says, Somebody help me, somebody help me. Well, I figured Jill Jones was she was treated like an ex or a side chick in the movie. Yeah. Yeah, I learned something new too. I never thought it was Jill. I was thinking Vanity the whole time. I guess I was thinking Vanity because of the song. Um wave. Oh gosh. Is it is it vibrator? And she's doing her thing in the end. And also at the beginning of uh back to fiction wonder.
unknownThat's when the Rain and Spunder got better.
SPEAKER_05This is the one that's saying, somebody help me.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05If we go back to that scene, uh, it was all about vanity. Vanity used to call him King Kong. My money's on vanity. Orgasm, yeah, orgasm. I don't know. Vanity and orgasm, yeah.
unknownBut don't you wanna be alone to love?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay, that's why I said I said vibrator, because uh it does that in the song Vibrator as well. Good stuff, good information tonight. Appreciate it. Purple family. Remember, Apollonia touched his chest and she said King Kong. That was some old vanity stuff. Yeah, because if you if you remember, Vanity was originally supposed to be in Purple Rain instead of Apollonia. You hear the girl say, I don't want to do it anymore, and the reverse crying part as, well, kind of creepy. Oh, you're gonna make me pull that clip out of the movie and do some reverse stuff to hear what's going on. More trivia from Mark. Let's see. There are backward vanity vocals on Girl. Yeah, I haven't played Girl Backwards yet. That's on my agenda.
unknownThis is the medicine show.
SPEAKER_05I'm still looking for an open source app or program that uh stems out uh vocals from music so I can get a better feel of what's going on vocally. If anybody knows of any open source apps or programs that stems out vocals from music, drop it in the chat, that'd be very helpful.
SPEAKER_01Y'all phone with my uproom.
SPEAKER_05Still want to see the uncut version of purple rain. Yeah, same here, Stephanie. I did a uh segment about that on one of my episodes recently and showed the actual um one of the clips that never made it to Proporin where Princess in the warehouse fighting Jelly Bean. Actually, Jelly Bean Rich reached out to me to explain what was going on in that scene. And basically, Prince was there to rescue Abalonia and uh ended up in a little scuffle with jelly bean.
SPEAKER_01Lisa's face's been messed up for 10 minutes.
unknownDon't do that to you.
SPEAKER_05I do believe that's what he said. Let's see more comments coming in. We're gonna get back to the questions. This is great though. Back and forth banter about purple information. I still want to see one of the cherry moon in color. Same here. There is like a bootleg version of that online. It's not the greatest color, but somebody tried to colorize it bootleg style. It's not that great. As Michael Dean says, that ain't it. I always thought it was Wendy singing the lyrics, but uh to a boy, maybe it was vanity after all. Endless Prince Info. I appreciate you, Mark. Love, a good uh Prince Scotland. A lot of comments coming in. Don't know if I can show them all. Like so many comments coming in, my uh live stream software freezing up. On scandalous, you hear uh Kim Bassinger. At the end of the moaning, that's where I get that. Absolutely, that's Kim Bassinger. Under the cherry moon, it can be in black and white as long as the deleted scenes are there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
unknownWorking overtime, wondering.
SPEAKER_05Maybe that will be included with the parade deluxe package. That would be nice. I really see the uncovered version. I re I really want to see the uncovered version too. I have read the original script. And is the original script different than what we saw? Mark. But for all that, I still have yet to figure out what the heck that girl is saying. Boy, trouble with uh all that goofy doublespeak.
unknownChapters and verse. Like Shelby making honey.
SPEAKER_05If someone said I never heard a Prince song before, play me one song that best illustrates Prince. What songs would you play?
SPEAKER_01That's right. You can admit it.
SPEAKER_05Me? Bambi.
unknownYou can admit it if the truth comes first.
SPEAKER_05By the way, Russell, this is the old school day dropping from the Prince podcast.
SPEAKER_02You better learn how to share. Turn it up.
SPEAKER_05Thanks for that information, Mr. Ernie. Thanks for joining tonight. Thanks, Mr. Thank you, Steve. Alright, I think I've gotten through all of the comments for a second. Anyway, let's see. Where do we leave off? Um another one. Another easy one. You want to get just move through some of these easy ones and get to the hard ones. We'll be here all night. Let's see. Okay. Here's a more tricky one. One more comment. If someone has never heard Prince before, I would recommend any live song to really get Prince. One has to see him live. Absolutely. How many times have you seen Prince live? I've seen him about 10 times live in my lifetime. My first tour that I saw was the 1999 tour. The last tour I saw was the Welcome to America tour. Anyway, back to the questions. Here's a good one. This question, I've skipped ahead to question number 15 in the medium level questions. What album did Prince famously withdraw from release and later rework that included the truth bonus disc? That's a good question. Mark, at least one show was among the best I've ever seen too. That was the One Night Alone Tour.
SPEAKER_03Ah, I'm not sure what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_05Dirty Mind was my first. Scott, Crystal Ball, Mark, Crystal Ball. Lady Cab driver, that's a good one. Steve Mercer, Crystal Ball, Ernie, Crystal Ball. What is Crystal Ball? Uh-oh. Getting to the medium level questions. Lady cab driver, you're so lucky. Pre-DM Twitter's my holy grail. I don't want to show my age, but I saw Prince open up for Rick James in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1980. My first time here in Prince, I found a 1980. Let's see. 82. I'm not even going to tell my age, but oh yeah, I was too young to get into that one. I barely made it into the 1999 tour. Got lucky. At that time, your parents can kind of walk you up to the door and say, hey, I'm dropping my son off at the concert. Can he come in? He has my approval. That's how I got in. So yeah, the answer. Everybody got it. Crystal ball. All right, moving on. Okay, number sixteen, medium level. What was Prince's final studio studio album released before his death? Where can I find this on YouTube? This show. That is um Ernie Wells. It's on uh if you just look up Freakopotamus Podcast on YouTube, it's there. I can send you the link uh after this is over. My aunt took me uh the next day I bought his second album, Prince. I never looked back. See, Scott. Freezing up. Let's say the question again. Uh the question was what was Prince's final studio album released before his death. Lady Cab driver says artificial age. Mark Mark says hidden one phase two. Lady Cab driver, not quite sure. Hidden run phase two. No, I answers are coming in pretty quickly. So I taped it to my bed and slept in top of it. I slept on top of him every night. Oh man. GMI, Lady Gam Driver. GMI. I remember when I bought the controversy album. And that poster was inside. I wasn't about to put it up on my wall. Huge Prince fan, but I kind of I left that poster inside the album just for safekeeping. A lot of my female friends wanted wanted to take it at the time. I was too much of a fan to let it go. New to the channel, but enjoying. Well, thank you so much. Scott, I appreciate you joining in tonight. Make sure you uh subscribe, hit the bell for future notifications forever I do something else, you'll be notified. Appreciate you. Tell a friend, wake the kids, phone the neighbors, as David Letterman used to say. So yeah, those of you who answered uh what was Prince's final studio album was hitting one phase two. Thank you, Scott. Appreciate you, brother. Uh here's another question. What track is one of your yet to be released Holy Grails? Um God, that's always a tough question. It's so many. It's very, very difficult to name one. I think uh somebody interviewed me a couple episodes back, and I guess my answer was, you know, I I look at Prince's body of work the same way Prince looked at his own body of work as one. So all of them, I mean there are others here with us. This is the one I have bootleg, but I want the real version. It was the controversy album. I mean, I had heard all of the albums prior to that one, but I really jumped on board when controversy came out. I thought the song itself, controversy was so different, and then Private Joy, Let's Work, Zoomy Baby, all that. That I I was all in at that point.
SPEAKER_02I want some. I want the house. I want the case.
SPEAKER_05Appreciate you stopping by, hanging out for a few. Thanks for subscribing, and uh, we'll see you in the future. Take care, have a good night. I would love to think that there could be some additional unreleased songs from that controversy album, maybe some extended versions. Like when I first heard the extended version of Let's Work, blew me away. Yeah, 1999. Alright, moving on. This is this is a lot of fun, guys. I appreciate all the additional information in between the questions. Sharing amongst each other, as the purple family does. So we're moving on from uh round two to round three. These are the uh for the hardcore fans, probably not too hard though. You guys are nailing it tonight, so probably not too hard for you, but we'll go. We'll move on to number 17. Uh, what was the name of Princess First Band before going solo? Way back to before before signing any record deal. Oh man, I could talk about Prince twenty-four hours a day, man. If I could Mark, Grand Central. Scott says Champagne was the first band. Well, the answer is Grand Central. Good job, guys, but uh um Scott, you are on to something because later that band was renamed to Champaign. So you're not you're not wrong. You're double right. Later named Champagne. All right. Thanks for joining, Christina. Tolliver, appreciate you joining in tonight. Tracy Tracy Face, thanks for joining, Tracy Face. Grand Central, you are correct. Grand Central was their first name, but they changed it to Champagne later. Yeah, absolutely, Mark. Why do you look familiar, Tracy Face? I say this with love. I'm digging your George Michael sex in here with your love for Chris. No, I'm not. You know, you're I'm married. I'm just having fun. I appreciate it, brother. I appreciate it. You know, you know, if I had a dime for every every time somebody compared me to George Michael, I'd probably be billionaire. It happens all the time. It's crazy. Like everywhere I go, I get that George Michael thing. Then when Robin Thick was hot, it was Robin Thick. Crazy. Um, I like George Michael. I love his music. Um, I've I've sang his music every time it comes on the radio. Or I hear a George Michael track. I'm singing it. I actually used to be in the band. Uh I did some lead singing and keyboard playing. We did a little bit of everything. We've never we've never done any George Michael stuff. 70 miles, great comparison. You got that voice for you. You got to look. I appreciate it. Lady Cataber. Yeah, remember Robin Thick used to post on Housequake back in the day. Is that right? I had no idea. I miss Housequake. Housequake.com and I miss Prince.org. I think Prince.org is taken down. I'm not absolutely positive. You were lucky this year looked like a mixture of Kurt Cobain and Robert Williams. I don't see it. I played mostly bass and drums. I should really start playing again. Yeah, I want to play again too. Actually, I'm looking to start a new band. Uh, my old band. Uh we discontinued when COVID started. Of course, all bands discontinued when COVID started. Nobody was playing live anymore. And we just never picked it back up. Members just kind of went their separate ways and have done other things. Martin Kimber is about a new Prince George. Yeah, he does great uh Prince and George Michael tributes. Martin Kimber. You guys don't know who Martin Kimber is, check him out. Former member of Color Me Bad. The word is back up. Okay, I gotta check the word. Lots of useful information information on the word. Jamming. Alright, let's get back to some questions. This is fun, guys. Appreciate it. Uh where are we? Alright. This is an easy one. This is back to easy. What record label did Prince feud with in the 1990s? Hey Scott, I appreciate you joining in, brother. Thanks for the subscription. We will catch you next time. Have a great day. Tomorrow, have a good night. Nothing but love for everyone. Peace. Thank you, sir. I appreciate it. Have a good one. And he throws in an answer before he leaves. Warner Brothers, you're absolutely right. Warner Brothers. Warner brother. Warner brother. Warmer brother. Right. Alright, we all got that one. That was pretty easy. Um, this is kind of a trick question. What symbol did Prince change his name to in 93? There's a name for it. Oh, I love this track. Have you guys heard this track? Keep on loving you, Prince. Anita Baker in the background. Love symbol. Love symbol, Rita. Thank you for joining Rita. I think I've seen Rita in here tonight. Thanks for joining. Rita Kivelly. Love s love sign. Some call it the love symbol. Love symbol. That's pretty much it. Love symbol.
SPEAKER_02Maybe you want me to do got what it takes.
SPEAKER_05Number 20. What was the title of Princess Unreleased 1982 movie project before filming Purple Rain? Just did a show on this one not too long ago.
SPEAKER_02So what you think? Can I buy you a drink? Put it in a big brown glass. Something to make you forget the past.
unknownYou and me, we got all nine every day.
SPEAKER_05Love this song. I need a backer mashup. Yeah, this is nice.
unknownI'm talking about to sleep a few plays where love is growing.
SPEAKER_05So smooth. I know you guys are not struggling with the answer. What was the title of Prince's unreleased 1982 movie before Purple Ran? It was never released. Which I hope that it sees the light of day. Tracy says, the dawn. Mark says, Second coming. What do you guys think?
unknownKeep on loving me.
SPEAKER_05It's kind of a documentary film.
SPEAKER_02Let's go outside.
SPEAKER_05Uh tailored around the controversy tour with some extra scenes outside of the tour.
unknownIt's just that it's baby home.
SPEAKER_05Second coming.
SPEAKER_04I couldn't think.
SPEAKER_02Whatever you got about it like your body baby because your body is the best. They get in the backseat and letting me dry. Keep on loving you.
SPEAKER_05I'm not sure.
unknownKeep on loving you.
SPEAKER_05Yes, the answer is the second coming. There's actually a song called The Second Coming. Uh that was never released, but there's a live version of him if you go to YouTube and look up the song Second Coming by Prince. It's basically him harmonizing with himself at the beginning of uh Controversy Tour. He opens with that. Very nice harmonization. Alright. You guys are on it, man. Okay, number 21. Uh this could be tricky, but probably not for you. Hardcore Prince fans. Which artist did Prince Wright? Nothing compares to you for.
unknownYou used to be the best of me.
SPEAKER_02You were the only one. I watched you up your life. When all I did was rub, you put me on a phone, and left me on the loop. Watch me turn to the stone.
SPEAKER_05You guys feel in my playlist. Stephanie Mills says the family. Anyone else? Thank you, Mark. Yeah, I was trying to pick some tracks that uh I wouldn't get shut down by the YouTube cops for. Definitely wouldn't want this uh episode blocked in any way. Good trick question, yeah. Christina changes her answer from Sinead O'Connor to the family. I missed the question. Question was Um, which artist did Prince write the song Nothing Compares to You for? I know you got this one, Tracy. You got it, Tracy. It's coming. We got the family. Yeah. The answer is the family. Later made famous by Sinead O'Connor, but originally written for the family. With yeah, family features Susanna, Wyne, uh St.
SPEAKER_03Paul, Jelly Bean, Jerome, uh, Eric Leeds. Alright, moving on.
SPEAKER_05Moving on to uh another easy one. I'm not even gonna ask that one. Basically, what's the name of Princess Home and Recording Complex? You know that one. Okay. What is the name of Princess Alter Ego high-pitched voice on tracks like If I Was Your Girlfriend? Mark says, you should go with the OJ Extra Lovable and Lust You Always soon. Yeah, Lust You Always is playing right now. The ones that weren't uh PC enough for 1999 are among the best out techs from that period.
SPEAKER_02Touch me at your own risk. I'm not responsible for anything I do. I lost you, Madly. Your kisses all I want you, all I wanna do. My analysts assure me that you were just a face. But I just can't stop this hunger. It's been going all the days.
unknownI lost you always.
SPEAKER_02I lost you always.
SPEAKER_05Written about his housekeeper.
SPEAKER_02I lost you always, darling. I lost you. Proceed with caution.
SPEAKER_05Love hearing facts I've never heard yet. Yeah, absolutely. I'm learning something tonight as well. Just when you think you know everything. Uh Mark answers Camille. Steve answers Jamie Starr. Trace Camille.
unknownI lost you always. I love one and three.
SPEAKER_05Christina, Camille.
unknownI lost you always.
SPEAKER_05I predicted this word. I love this funky, little funky track. Yeah, this is uh lost you always. Camille, you guys are on it. Correct. The answer is Camille. Right, question number 24. Uh, what is the name of the instrumental jazz funk album Prince released under the name Madhouse? There are several of these, so this is this could be many answers. What is the name of the instrumental jazz funk album Prince released under the name Madhouse? Tracy says eight. The first eight. Yeah, I think the word first was left out on the question, but yeah. So yeah, the name of that album is eight released in 1987. Madhouse was fire. Absolutely. I gotta go back and get uh some of those Madhouse albums. I've got like the vinyl versions, but I need to get like uh either the CD versions, which I don't even know if they exist. You might get lucky, find them out there, but um streaming would be nice. Alright, we went on to round four. We've been going for about an hour and twenty. We'll get through round four. And possibly if you guys want to hang out any longer, I'll do some additional questions, but uh, let's go with number twenty five. Um that's too easy. Uh, okay. Here's one. Who inducted Prince into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004? Mark Trinore. You're good, Mark. Yeah, absolutely. Mark is on it, man. Mark and Steve, they're on it. Hard to believe it's only three people. That house is great, but I think as early 2000s, Jazz era tops. So Steve is answering Outcast and Alicia Keys. Luch Keys, Outcast, big boy. Outcast, Luch Keys. Oh, it's all good, Tracy. We're all family. We don't judge. So the answer is Lucia Keys, Outcast. Yep, and big boy as well. Question number twenty-seven. Um, okay. This is kind of a multi-answer. Question. What songs did Prince perform during the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show? Multiple answers here. Let's go crazy, which yes, one of 'em. Uh the question was which songs did Prince performed during the two thousand seven Super Bowl halftime show. Watchtower was one. Baby, I'm a star. There's a couple more answers. Hot Wangs. Call me when gay goes out of our end. I don't know what that's supposed to mean, but okay. Best of you all along the watchtower. I'm just thinking about the covers purple rain, big on a star.
unknownShe won't be computed.
SPEAKER_05Hot wings, I think you got the wrong live stream, brother.
SPEAKER_02I tell a joke about the woman who wants to love us.
SPEAKER_05I wish he would have performed less work. Okay, yeah, the answer. You guys pretty much nailed it. There's a couple more. Uh, so the songs that he performed in the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show were Purple Rain, Let's Go Crazy, Baby I'm a Star. And he did covers of uh We Will Rock You by Queen. Remember when he did that? Where the crowd was chanting it? And uh Proud Mary by Credence All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan and the best of you, the Foo Fighters. Proud Mary, he nailed Proud Mary, man. He nailed it all, man. I love this version of Watchtower. Best of you, Proud Mary.
unknownAll that matters, the present, the here, and now people, whatever flows. This joke is both.
SPEAKER_05Always one joke, absolutely.
unknownThis is where she wants to be. I am what she wants to see. Never know who love so sweet.
SPEAKER_05Still I can be all right. Moving on. Next question. Uh uh, and what year did Prince win an Academy Award and for which category? Sounds up.
SPEAKER_02Is my character enough to be? Never won it, deserve the cup in me. Never ever disappeared one day. I hope to see. She's held at face on my animal like this. Maybe she does two props say this is the Steve says nineteen eighty-four. She wants to be a winter.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's kind of a tough one.
unknownShe wants to be a big one.
SPEAKER_05Eighty-five, best original score. I'm guessing the actual answer is eighty-five. And uh the category was best original song score for corporate rain.
SPEAKER_04There you go.
SPEAKER_05Prince wrote Manic Monday for which eighties band. That's an easy one for you.
SPEAKER_02Still I keep you waiting. This is where she wants to be.
SPEAKER_05That was pretty easy. Emancipation was the last piece of vinyl played today. Bengals. Manning Monday. Bengals. He was crushing on Susanna Haas.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
unknownI am woof.
SPEAKER_05Alright. This is the last question. Um, before we think about Encore Round. Uh, question number 30. How many Grammy Awards did Prince win during his lifetime? D'Angelo's passing was like losing Prince again. Yeah, it was very, very similar to that. I wish that one wish that I've always had about D'Angelo is that we had more music from him. He only put out like three albums, but he did a live, a lot of uh live. Which was great. I didn't get a chance to see him live, but he did a lot of live tours. I just wish we would have gotten more physical music from him. Yeah, the question marked was uh how many Grammy Awards is Prince did Prince win during his lifetime? Stephanie Mills is seven. You guys are good, man. Seven? Not enough. Great answer. Not enough. Another great answer. Seven Grammys. Seven. And we'll watch him fall. Yep. I wish he would have he wanted to be uh slashed on. Yeah. Seven. Yeah, you guys are on it, man. There's nothing you guys can answer, man. Alright, do we want to? It's 9:30 my time here. We've been going for about an hour and a half. Um thinking about wrapping it up, but if you want to do a few more questions and hang out, we got about another five or ten minutes. You missed the bangles question. Yeah, the question was um. I forgot what the question was. Uh yeah, uh Prince wrote Manic Monday for which 80s band. That's what the question was. Alright, I'll ask a few more. I'll hang out for about another 10. Um, this is going back to easy, man. Let me see if I can pick a few of the tougher ones out. These are too easy. We're going back to easy, but this is kind of an encore round for you know folks that want to hang out. Let's see. And I don't know, this is one of the questions. I don't know how accurate the answer is. I mean, do we really know what Prince's actual height was? I mean, heights vary, right? I mean, at one point in his life. Why does it even matter? Sometimes he was a giant in my bird.
SPEAKER_02Boba do electro slow.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Prince founded his own label in the eighties. What was it called? That's an easy one. Five two. That's right, Mark. That's what I had for an answer is five two. Taller than the Empire Saber. Corner report recorded it at five three. Okay.
SPEAKER_04See.
SPEAKER_05We're gonna get different answers on that one, I'm sure. Same height, one hit the last one. Ooh. Ooh. Tell your mama lady game. Answer. Hazley Park. Hazley Park Records. Hazley Park Records. Hazley Park. Yeah, Hazley Park is the answer. That was kind of easy. Um okay. Question. Next question: Which legendary guitarist did Prince famously outshine at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance of Wild Might Guitar Jimmy Weeks? Did Prince famously outshine at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance of Wild Month? Wild My Guitar Jean Lee Weeps. Yeah, all of them that were up on stage with him. You you guys know who's up on stage playing with him?
SPEAKER_02Listen to the drum, giving blood to your brain.
SPEAKER_05Who was there or who played on the studio version? Yeah, it was the live performance. Who was on stage playing with Prince during the uh 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance? They were playing while my guitar gently weeps.
unknownWe've got today with the live for five.
SPEAKER_05Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty. I don't know who else. Yeah, basically that's it. Uh Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynn, Tom Petty, and all the others. Yeah. I don't think those guys really knew how good Prince was on guitar until then. We all knew, but uh I don't think they knew. Yes, all of your answers are correct. All right. Uh next question. Easy, too easy. Um, another another one is too easy. Let's see. Okay. Prince once used a fake name when writing songs for other artists. Uh, what were those names? Those fake names did he use it. Tracy's Alexander Nevermind, Joey Coco, Jamie Starr. One more. Jamie Starr. Christopher, Alexander, never mind. We may keep going. Yeah, the ones that I can think of, Jamie Starr, um, Alexander Nevermind, Christopher and Joey Coco. Are there any more? Yeah. I think we nailed that one. Um gosh. Another easy one. Uh, what was the name of Princess uh all female band formed in twenty thirteen? He wrote some only credit in the space park. Uh Tracy says Third Eye Girl, Mark, Third Eye Girl, Third Eye Girl. Yeah, that was an easy one. Keep it moving. Um, what song did Prince perform at the 1991 NTV Awards while wearing a yellow lace outfit? A famous yellow lace outfit. Alright, Tracy, thanks for joining. I appreciate you hanging out. Have a great night. We shall see you next time. Steve Mercer, get off. Get off. Get off. 51 hours 23 positions in a one night sting.
unknownShack did you want you for my slave?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we all know that answer. The famous butt-out outfit. I'm losing my voice. Uh, which song? Number twelve, which song was originally written for Stevie Nicks, but she turned it down.
SPEAKER_02In the common back of the building, and I'll show all the band. You ask me for just when I dive you up instead. See when you switch again.
SPEAKER_05Anybody know?
unknown51 hours, you were my slave. 51 hours.
SPEAKER_05Which song was originally written for Stevie Nicks, but she turned it down. Mark your hand. Purple rain, you're the cab driver of purple rain.
unknownSo one pump to the left. One pong to the right. I hope you like your milkshake, take I do.
SPEAKER_05Purple rain. Campo. Thanks for joining. It's purple rain. Can you imagine if Prince would not have kept purple rain for himself? Would it would it have been as huge if it was recorded by Stevie Nicks?
unknownTwo days I made you kiss me. Two days I made you pay. Never again you assume that every girl will come your way.
SPEAKER_05Well, thanks for hanging out, even though you were lurking. Thanks for hanging out with us. This has been a fun night. Trust he would have made something equally great in this place. Yeah, without a doubt. Uh next question. Too easy. Um okay, how about this one? What was Princess's first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100? He asked you to do the lyrics, she declined. Lots of good information here tonight. So the question was, what was Prince's first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100? Number one single Rita says, I wanna be your lover. Mark says, When doves cry, Lady Cam Driver. When doves cry. And the answer is when doves cry. Yep. First number one, which stayed on the charts for many, many weeks. He was at number one for many weeks. Another easy question. Skip that one. Uh skip that one. You guys are too good for any easy questions. Um just complicated mighty fine. These questions are too easy, man. I can't ask these questions. I know what I'm up against, dude. I'm glad I prepared some more of his board of questions.
SPEAKER_02Um wants to pay fucking hobby. That's a dry.
SPEAKER_05And I'm on the very last one. Let's see. Yeah, I can't ask these easy questions, man. You guys are too good. So I think that's where we'll stop it. I think I've gone an extra 15 minutes. But uh, this was really, really fun. Maybe I can do this again soon someday. Um, maybe do something like this in regard to uh RB music, funk and soul, some other artists, maybe. Let's see. I'm hard to stump. Yes, sir. You are you are uh an absolute prince scholar. Thanks for hanging out tonight, sharing your insight and information. Absolutely, Rita. It was my pleasure, lots of fun. Thank you guys so much who joined tonight. Hopefully, you've enjoyed yourselves and got something out of it. Learned something you didn't know. I know I learned a lot that I didn't already know. Definitely some Prince Scholars in here. Thanks, guys. I want to say Donna. I know I'm wrong on that one. Donna D-O-N-N-A. I know I'm gonna be wrong on that one. I remember Donna sounding like it was done on like a uh eight uh four-track recorder or something. It wasn't the greatest quality. Leaving for New York. Leaving for New York 79ers, okay. Since we've been together. I think you're gonna have to give us the answer, Mark.
unknownSee.
SPEAKER_05Aces is one. I'm gonna have to go check that one out. I'm learning some stuff tonight, man. Just when you think you're a diehard, somebody else is even more of a diehard. That's all we need to know. Moons moon sound sessions. Look that up. See what was released and what wasn't. And I'm sure we'll be surprised. Alright, guys. Thanks for that, Mark.
