Welcome to the freaking part of the podcast. You ready for someone to be full? Let's go. And now, your host, the real Russell.

SPEAKER_01

What's up everybody, and welcome back once again to the Freak Epotamus Podcast. How's everybody doing today on this Sunday afternoon? Everybody uh home from church, ready for some football. Uh this is uh very uh impromptu, unannounced um live stream today. Uh I tried one on uh was it Thursday and uh things didn't go too well. Basically, what I wanted to do was uh test some new equipment uh that I received uh on Christmas. And uh I've got a new soundboard here and I want to try it out and make sure um everything's coming through crisp and clear on your side. Uh I tested it yesterday on my side, everything seems to be working smoothly. So um sorry for the um the unannouncement but uh this is basically another test. See how everything goes. Um so for those of you who are joining in today, if you want to jump down in the chat, let me know how things are coming through. That would be awesome. That way I can uh get a better feel of uh whether or not my equipment, my new equipment is working fine. Um and throughout this this test, what I want to do is um play some isolated Prince a cappella tracks. Uh which is gonna be interesting. There's a lot of things uh that are heard in the a cappella tracks that are not heard uh in the original tracks that include the music. I think you'll you'll find that very uh interesting. Anyway. Um hopefully everything's coming through this time. Uh thanks. Thanks again for those who are joining on this Sunday afternoon this unannounced live stream. Um what's happening? What's happening in the Prince world, what's happening in the music world? I know that um the estate they're showing the the diamonds and pearls, um uh Glam Slam, uh Minneapolis Glam Slam show in one of the theaters in California. Um and I was kind of hoping that they would do that, you know, throughout the United States and and and abroad as well. Um the only thing I can say as far as the estate goes, I just wish they would um think bigger. And um if they're gonna do something like this, I think they should at least try to to do this across the board and not just in one theater in one state only. Um of course we're all hoping for more more uh music to come out of the vault. That would be nice. I don't know exactly what the holdup is there, but that's what we really want. Um we've all for those of you who purchased the diamonds and pearls on deluxe package, that DVD is included. Um so most of you who who have done that have seen that actual footage from Minneapolis Glam Slam. Um but anyway, this is what um I would like to see happen. I'm gonna play a video here real quick. This is from the January 21st uh Golly event that was held at Paisley Park uh right before Princess Passing, and it's been sitting dormant for what nine years now? It's been nine years, but um, I don't know why this hasn't been put out because this is something that clearly was professionally filmed at Paisley and shown at Paisley for those of you who have taken the Paisley tour. They show this in the uh in the concert room up on the big screen, but I'm gonna go ahead and play it. Most of you have seen it, but this is amazing quality, man. I don't know why they haven't put this out yet. You know, after nine years, you would think that they would have. But this is what I would like to see the estate put out for us.

SPEAKER_02

That's the whole song, right?

SPEAKER_11

I'm too leisurely Skipping on my ears, skipping on your ears. Something different than the day before.

SPEAKER_02

That's when I sighed she walked in. Yes, she did.

SPEAKER_11

She woke up and you find in a second hand store.

SPEAKER_02

If it was won't, she wouldn't wear much more. I think I really there is a part that is known for the famous city tracks.

SPEAKER_01

Clearly having some Wi-Fi issues again.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody stand up, come on.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if it's skipping on your side, but it's skipping on my side. It played perfectly just five minutes ago. Anyway, you can clearly see the pristine quality of this.

SPEAKER_02

This clip same part. Uh-huh. Again.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, anyway, I don't know. It was skipping on my side. I don't know if it was skipping on your side. It played just fine just right before I started this live stream. Anyway, you kind of get the picture of what that's about, and I I would just like to see the estate release that, man. It's incredible quality. Um, so without further ado, I don't have much going on today. I don't have much to say. I'm just gonna get right to um these Prince Acapella tracks. And uh we'll uh we'll discuss it throughout. But anyway, um if you listen to these tracks, you can definitely hear um Prince's talent and ability to harmonize with himself, whether it's four-part harmony, five-part harmony, however many parts that he does. But you can clearly, clearly hear the raw talent that this guy has and his vocal ability. So I'm just gonna kick it off here with some adore acapella.

SPEAKER_11

That's what you mean to me.

SPEAKER_12

You all my mother.

SPEAKER_11

You do not still sleep.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, thanks for being for joining Lady Cat Driver. Good to see you. Thanks for hanging out on this Sunday afternoon. Just doing a test run, some new equipment, make sure everything's coming in nice and clear on your side. Hopefully you can hear everything. If so, if not, let me know. Just push them out some print alcohol both today.

SPEAKER_11

I'll thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Out of this world, man, nobody can touch them. The only person I've really seen that has come close is probably somebody like Philip Bailey, maybe. You were right about that. One of the best songs ever written, if not the best. Iconic, man. Those vocals in the background, man, those those harmonies. Alright, we're gonna keep it moving. Some more a cappella stuff. Early prints. Here's a trivia question for you. And only you true Prince fans will know the answer. Who was the person who wrote this song and gave it to Prince?

SPEAKER_10

Bring on being in me far too long. That's all.

SPEAKER_01

Probably one of the only songs that I can think of that was written by somebody close to him. And Prince claimed it for himself. And we never knew until the recent years.

SPEAKER_10

If anybody knows, drop it down in the chat.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, you are correct, Lady Cab Driver. The great Andre Simone. Nailed it. Not many people know that.

SPEAKER_10

Only true fans like like Lady Cab Driver would know that. Please stop, please. Never win not close to one of us.

SPEAKER_01

Those of you non-prince fans, Andre Simone is won't you so probably best known for the Dance Electric? Which Prince gave Andre Simone the song Dance Electric. It became a huge hit for Andre.

SPEAKER_12

They were best friends from the beginning.

SPEAKER_10

And I think they remained best friends throughout the years.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely, Lady Cat and James I'm known for Kelly's eyes. Also known for the success of Jody Rotley. Produced Jody Wantley's first solo album. Alright, another pop quiz.

SPEAKER_11

There's something about the theme.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know you're gonna know it. Lady Candra. Prince gave this song to someone. And became a huge hit for that artist. Hit it, Lady Candra.

SPEAKER_11

Makes me walk.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody should know that one. Everybody should know that one.

SPEAKER_11

I believe.

SPEAKER_01

Great Shaka Khan. So clearly everything's coming in crisp and clear. That's that's good to know because Thursday night was a bomb. I was 45 minutes into my live stream. And somebody finally told me I can't hear anything. I was embarrassed. I'm like, wow. Okay, but that's basically what it was all about anyway, just the test runs. This is the second test run. Things are looking good now, I think. The only issue that I think I'm having is my uh Wi-Fi speeds are probably slow. Hopefully I'm not blurry and I'm crystal clear.

SPEAKER_03

Face down Dead Like Elvis Face Down.

SPEAKER_01

One of my favorites off the Emancipation album.

SPEAKER_03

Dead Like Elvis.

SPEAKER_11

Somebody once told him that he wouldn't take Prince to the ringer. Let him go down as a watched up singer. Ain't that a bitch? Thinking all along that he wanted to be rich. Never respected them, never believe a land to this day. Okay. Face down to Deadlike Elvis.

SPEAKER_03

Face down Deadlike Elvis.

SPEAKER_11

Tell him me wanted to sing a song about a black child going puck wild, and they just laughed in his face. Talk to your lawyer, but you got no case. Next time you pull a card out of the face, motherfucker, you can lay face down.

SPEAKER_03

Hit a man in who I'm single about and it's like a list.

SPEAKER_11

Ain't it kind of funny when you see the dawn?

SPEAKER_03

Turn the make yellow, but when the mother f turn around, ask up your wife. Face down. What like Elvis Face down?

SPEAKER_01

Thank you, thank you so much, Lady Kennedy. You power generation in the house and bury them all.

SPEAKER_03

Deadlight Elvis face down Deadlike Elvis It's in his will.

SPEAKER_11

I read it. He shot to kill. He said it. For those who know the number and don't call.

SPEAKER_03

That that that Deadlike Elvis Face down. That like Elvis down Incredible, man.

SPEAKER_01

You can really hear the vocal ability and this stuff.

SPEAKER_11

I guess I should know by the way you popped, you can't sound pretty wooden laugh. You're the kind of person who believes in making out wants, love 'em and leave them fast. Yes, I must be dumb. She had a pocket food of horses, children, and some of you.

SPEAKER_01

There's a lady.

SPEAKER_11

Her name is it all right and beautiful. Supposedly this song was written about her.

SPEAKER_01

I think she has a book coming out. I know she has one coming out. And um, I'm sure she's got stories to tell.

SPEAKER_11

About her days with Prince. I'm hoping to be able to get her on the show. It's way helpful.

SPEAKER_01

Talk about those stories.

SPEAKER_11

And uh felt a little ill. Talk about the book.

SPEAKER_01

Digging to some some stories that we haven't heard of.

SPEAKER_11

Wonder if I had a love class. Baby, I got a love class. Baby night. Baby COVID. You need to find a lot that's gonna last.

SPEAKER_01

I remember as a as a 14-year-old 1999 tour was the first tour that I saw.

SPEAKER_11

At that point I knew we were getting something special. Give me the keys. Open the tongue and chop a flip.

SPEAKER_01

I remember team. Uh there was a show that used to come on on Friday nights and Saturday nights. Nothing but videos. I think it was called Night Cuts. And it was a show of a little red core quite a bit. And this is before VCR. Or you know other platforms that you can easily pull up a video on it and watch it. You had to wait all night for a particular video. And I'll be waiting all night for the little red corvette video to come on.

SPEAKER_11

This will be the day.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_11

I am here for you.

SPEAKER_01

The great Rosie Gaines.

SPEAKER_07

Love is meant for two.

SPEAKER_01

Hope she's doing well today. She's doing well.

SPEAKER_11

If I gave you diamonds and buld you be a happy boy, if I could, I would give you the word. Which one of us is right? If we always find just love decide. Would you be those harmonies between Rosie and Prince? What I can do is just to follow you my love.

SPEAKER_05

Oh to the end to the D to the pearls of love.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, Rosie.

SPEAKER_05

Oh to the end to the D to the pearls of love.

SPEAKER_04

That will come a time. You will blow your mind.

SPEAKER_05

Your mind.

SPEAKER_04

Everything you look for you'll find.

SPEAKER_05

Take a look at tiger.

SPEAKER_11

That will be the time. That will be the time. Everything will tiger the bride makes you colour black. If I could, I would do what you have a little babe.

SPEAKER_01

Amazing, man. Amazing. Alright, on this one.

SPEAKER_08

Dearly beloved.

SPEAKER_01

Let me stop it for a second. On this one, you're gonna notice some things. This is let's go crazy, a cappella version. You're gonna notice some things that you didn't notice in the original. In the original. A lot of these little uh tidbits of things that happen in the song you can't hear because of the music, the powerful music, but without the music, how it's dissected here, you're gonna hear uh Lisa Coleman in the background laughing, because I think it's probably something that Prince did in the song. And then you're gonna hear what sounds like Prince tapping on the microphone to give something extra to the song, and you're gonna hear like uh some extra effects, some low-pitch, uh distorted uh vocal effects that you normally wouldn't hear in the original. So let's check this out. I'll let you know.

SPEAKER_08

We are gathered here today to get through this thing called life. Electric word life, it means forever, and that's a mighty long time. But I'm here to tell you there's something else. The afterworld. A world of never-ending happiness. You can always see the sun. Day or night. So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills, you know the one. Doctor, everything will be alright. Right, right, right, right, right, right, right.

SPEAKER_11

Ask him how much of your mind, baby. Cause in this life, things are much harder than the day after well. In this life, you're on your own.

SPEAKER_01

Like what you just heard?

SPEAKER_04

I'm thinking you don't here's another part.

SPEAKER_01

Go crazy, punch your hands for it takes a thinker to think out the box, like, let's drop this right here, to give it that extra.

SPEAKER_11

If you don't like the world you're living in, take a look around you. At least you got friends. You see, I call my old lady. She just picked up the colour.

SPEAKER_01

Only a genius can think of that, man.

SPEAKER_09

Am I gonna let the elevator bring us down? Oh no, let's go! Let's go crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Not the revolution harmonizing with us.

SPEAKER_09

Look for the purple banana till they put us in a truck. Let's go! We're all excited. But we don't know why.

SPEAKER_04

Maybe it's cause we're all gonna die.

SPEAKER_11

When we do When we do, what's it all for? What's it all for? Belly now fuck with me because I'm knocking on the door.

SPEAKER_09

Just how we gonna let the elevator bring us down. Oh no, let's go, let's go crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Layers and layers of let's get nuts.

SPEAKER_09

Look for bonanas in the creator such a masterpiece, man.

SPEAKER_11

Come on, baby. Let's get nuts. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm wondering. If he knew how huge this album was gonna be, man.

SPEAKER_04

Let's go crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Genius is the only way to this one.

SPEAKER_11

Oh no, let's go! Oh crazy. I said, let's go crazy! Crazy, crazy, let's go, let's go!

SPEAKER_01

I think this is actually the 12-inch version, so it's gonna be a minute. But you get to hear a lot of stuff that you didn't hear in the original. Uh-oh. Uh oh, I gotta go back. You missed it. I was talking, sorry, my bad. Oh. I think you missed it. I was running my mouth. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_04

That's a long time, but I'm gonna tell you. You hear all that?

SPEAKER_01

Do you hear all the extra stuff? Like that spoken part just now. I didn't hear that in the original. It's amazing, man.

SPEAKER_06

Go crazy, people. Go crazy.

SPEAKER_01

I think this is probably the world. It's kinda quiet right now. But trust me, more is coming.

SPEAKER_04

That's so crazy. That's good nuts. That's so crazy. That's good nuts.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go crazy.

SPEAKER_04

Let's get nuts. Let's go crazy. Let's go crazy. Let's go crazy.

SPEAKER_09

Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down? Oh no, let's go!

SPEAKER_12

Crazy.

SPEAKER_11

I said let's go! Crazy! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Everything will be alright! Make everything go wrong. Feels and feels and definitely. Act up children. He's coming. He's coming.

SPEAKER_01

Coming probably the outro at this point. Never noticed that before. So now I'm gonna go back and pull out the original and see if I can notice these things that we didn't notice before. Bass drum. Kick drum. Doing that guitar solar it probably. Yeah. Wow. Alright. Last one. And I'm gonna get up on it get up get on up out of here. So I can get ready for some football today.

SPEAKER_10

You don't need to spend any answer.

SPEAKER_11

You just leave it on the other.

SPEAKER_01

Let me go ahead and throw out another trivia question. This particular song, Lady Cab Driver, I already know. I already know you know.

SPEAKER_10

You don't have to be cool to boom out.

SPEAKER_01

That's a dead giveaway right there. Who was Kiss originally written for?

SPEAKER_11

You got to not talk dirty, baby. You won't impress me. You can't be too flirty, mama. I know how to undress me. Yeah. I wanna be all a fantasy.

SPEAKER_10

Baby.

SPEAKER_01

And the group the kiss was written for, they're actually doing background vocals.

SPEAKER_10

You just leave it all up to me. We can have a good time.

SPEAKER_12

Don't have to be a good one.

SPEAKER_01

You got it, Lady Catherine.

SPEAKER_11

Don't have to be Maserati.

SPEAKER_01

Maserati album was a great album, man. Uh 100 Miles an Hour. Uh Player's Ball and some other stuff. I wish we would have gotten more from Maserati. I think there was a recent Maserati album that came out within the last few years. Um, that um Brown Martin produced. That was his group.

SPEAKER_11

Oh girl in this movie. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Women like bones.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, I wish they could have continued as well.

SPEAKER_11

Maybe we can do the twelve.

SPEAKER_10

You don't have to watch dynasty to heaven.

SPEAKER_01

I can remember when uh the share of the moon premiere pudding and share the moon and mazzer under kiss. Alright. Alright, that will wrap it up for the a cappella day. Uh thanks you guys for those of you who joined, Lady Cap Driver. In particular, thanks for the feedback. Uh clearly everything is is working fine. I hope that uh everything is in 1080p for you guys today. The only issue I think I'm having is probably Wi-Fi speeds, but we will work on that. Absolutely, lady cab driver. Thanks for joining. And uh without further ado, I'm gonna get up uh get up out of here and uh wish you guys a great rest of your Sunday. And uh I'm looking forward to the next next live stream. Um the game and just on the YouTube lady countriver. Who who you got? I know you're a Detroit fan. Who you got? Super Bowl. I've got I'm gonna say Kansas City in the Super Bowl. And she threw it into that one when the Lions lost. Oh yeah, I hated that for the Lions. When I was really rooting for the Lions, um uh yeah, Kansas City for sure. I think Kansas City probably. And I wanna say Philly. Kansas City and Philly. Not a lot of people going for the Bills. I'm gonna say Kansas City and Philly. I like my homes and I like uh Jalen Hurts. So that would be interesting. Anyway, on that note, I'm gonna get out of here. So as always, live, love, and dream, y'all. And we will catch you on the next episode. Peace, y'all thank you for freezing up. I appreciate you.
