SPEAKER_08

Give me some gamja!

unknown

Hit it, but I'm gonna go ahead and go!

SPEAKER_08

I'm in love with a marriage. She's my main thing, she makes me feel alright, she makes my heart sing, and we'll feel alone. She comes as no surprise. Turns me on with a love, takes me to bed.

SPEAKER_03

Do you think you love me? Don't you play?

SPEAKER_14

Does everybody know about the uh the Rick James biopic? Well, it's not a biopic, it's like a stage. Stage bio. Traveling the country. Tell Rick James a story. Can't wait to see how they do that. So check your local listings.

SPEAKER_08

Where's the gun job tonight? We want to dedicate the rest of this set to someone that we all love, Mr. Bob Marley.

SPEAKER_14

Bob Marley pick is out now. Biopick out now, you're we want you all to lift your hands up for me.

SPEAKER_08

This is with Bob Marley.

SPEAKER_14

I remember I went to a Rick James show when I was probably about 14. It was the throwing down tour. Remember the throwing down album? Y'all like to have a good time, don't you? And as everybody knows, Rick was famous for the weed.

SPEAKER_08

Let me look at you.

SPEAKER_14

And famous for the giant joints on stage. And of course, everyone mostly everyone partook. Yes, sir, some Rick James. Yeah, if you get a chance to uh check out the uh the the bio stage play regarding his life. Check it out. I know that my city is on the list for like later on in the throughout the year, but uh excited. I'm excited about the bottom bio, let's get back into some music.

SPEAKER_11

This is one of my favorite groups of all time.

SPEAKER_14

Roger Troutman, Zap.

unknown

We love you, we love you, we love you.

SPEAKER_05

Don't you know we love you, yeah!

SPEAKER_14

Not the originator of the talk box, though, but probably most famous for the talk box. You know, Peter Franklin probably came out with the talk box early on. Stevie Wonder did some talk box stuff. Then Roger Troutman took it to another level.

SPEAKER_13

Wait a minute, wait a minute.

SPEAKER_14

Made it funky.

SPEAKER_13

Everybody, wait one second. Let me tell you one thing.

SPEAKER_07

You are number one in this building and have a good time.

SPEAKER_04

Put your hands up at this audio all night, come on, Julian, share me.

SPEAKER_14

Thank you again, UCB King. Thanks for joining, by the way. And I was so sad about the incident that took Roger Trotman's life back in ninety-nine by his own brother. Unreal man. I had the pleasure of meeting Roger back in was 94. I was overseas living in Japan at the time, and he was doing like a uh military base tour. And he did a couple of concerts at the base where I live.

unknown

You know what? I don't see you!

SPEAKER_14

And it was without a doubt off the chain.

unknown

Why is the body over here?

SPEAKER_14

I know that after his passing zap without Roger still did some some touring. I've never seen Zap without Roger. It's probably hard to go to a Zap fountain without Roger. He's like the mastermind behind it. Roger Troutman also had a crazy sense of humor. YouTube some of his interviews and stuff, the man's hilarious.

unknown

Wait a minute, wait a minute.

SPEAKER_07

This is not where the party's at. You guys are trying to trick me. I know where the party is.

SPEAKER_14

Do one titty, man. I was 14 when that came out. Seems like I was 14 for everything, man. Anyway, we used to have this back in 82 when this song was out. Popping was the crate. All that. So we had this popping group. We used to pop to this song. We would incorporate all of the kids in our neighborhood, right? To do this popping group. It was hilarious. I miss those days when music was music.

SPEAKER_07

Can I get crazy up here? I can hear.

unknown

Can I get crazy?

SPEAKER_14

Waiting for some more people to come up. Join. Get in the chat. I'm just curious to see how the sound is coming across. I would hate to do see the replay and there's that zero sound. Yeah, come on in, man. Let me know where you're tuning in from. I'm lying. Introduce yourselves, say hello.

SPEAKER_01

Now all day long you've been acting mighty crazy young man. Sandfield. What I want you to do is make this hard money to go blow it now.

SPEAKER_14

Roger's letting an naughty member harmonically. Charlie Wilson man.

SPEAKER_03

Are you ready, Houston?

SPEAKER_14

The longevity of his career. Started out with the dab band. Now most commonly known as for his solo stuff. Uncle Charlie. Still doing it, man. Charlie's probably in the seventies now. Looks good, sounds good.

SPEAKER_03

Y'all sing it for me. So I gotta get up. So I gotta get up Get up. So I got the kid.

SPEAKER_14

Thank you again. Always get for my 127 subscribers at this time.

unknown

Now I gotta get it, everyone.

SPEAKER_13

Appreciate you.

SPEAKER_14

Now my goal for the end of February, which is a couple weeks away. If I could extend that 127 to 200, that would be amazing. Trying to reach as many R ⁇ B front, so print spans as possible. I love this stuff and I know you guys love it too. Always nice to be able to reach back and remember some of the funkiest most soulful music that ever existed. Can't get this stuff anymore, man. You got a few groups out there that are that are funky, a lot of underground groups. There's a couple groups off the top of my head that I can think of came out in the 90s. Trying to keep the funk alive was a group called Slapback. And a group called DAG D A G. Look those guys up, man. You'd be highly impressed. Another slapback work with Larry Graham, George Clinton on some of their stuff.

SPEAKER_07

Hey ladies, we sing this Larry Graham.

SPEAKER_14

I'm not Larry Blackman. I'm Emmy. So much energy, man. Charlie Wilson bouncing around the stage. Parliament. George Clinton live in Houston, seventy-eight. This song used to come on at the clubs. All the seats were empty. Everybody ran through the floor.

SPEAKER_12

Well, got to go.

SPEAKER_14

This is a funky guitar. How can you not bobby ahead to this? George Clinton. He's still out there doing it too. I don't know if some of you knew, but like he gave up, sold all the rights to his music. Um a few years ago. So, of course, when you sell your rights to your music, you have no more royalties coming in. Which basically means you have no more income coming in. So George is out there doing live shows trying to survive. How's the sound coming through? Curious to know what everything sounds like. First live stream, like as I mentioned before. If anybody wants to jump in the chat, let me know how the sound is coming through. If nothing's coming through, I'm just bobbing my head for no reason. I've never been to a parliament for way before my time. Too young. I didn't start going to concerts until like eighty-two. I was fourteen. You're not gonna believe this one. Probably the first concert I ever went to. My dad took me to see Elvis Presley. I was like nine years old, but remember it vividly. It was the year that Elvis Presley had passed. Man. Just all in your face on this Saturday.

SPEAKER_11

Alright, let's keep it rolling, man. Thanks for joining me.

SPEAKER_14

Everybody likes on the elements of the universe. Very white face. Maurice White. Leave vocals. R.I.P. Maurice White. Earth Wind and Fire still out there touring. Minus Maurice White. Still sound good. I'm Philip Bailey. Still got that voice. So to avoid that, I reach back and grab some of the live stuff. So hopefully uh avoid being slapped. By Facebook and YouTube for copywriter regimen. Hello, thanks for joining. We're just vibing out to some old school RB and funk. Let's see who got hey, peace and love. What's up? Thank you. Just vibing out to some old school funk. RB. First live screen. Not screen, scream. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm I'm out of my head for no reason. He's with a group called Radio back in the late 70s, early eighties. He did his solo thing. He wrote for a lot of people. Wrote for new editions, some other artists best known for his Ghostbusters. Soundtrack, Ghostbuster soundtrack. Appreciate you. Love your space as well. Watch all your stuff. Talk about some stuff. That's what I'm talking about. Oh man, remember this from high school? I remember this one from high school. I had the pleasure of seeing Midnight Star. Back in the 80s. Everybody was on the floor. Midnight Star was hot. Freaker Zoid, Operator, Playing of the Slow Jones, Oh, Midas Touch, all that. Dance floor music, man. In the club, this came on. Again. All empty seats. Everybody was on the floor. She takes me back, man. Having a party on a Saturday afternoon.

SPEAKER_02

I'll be the cycle, come on, one knee, I'll go.

SPEAKER_14

I think the female lead in this group, her name was Belinda Lipscum. I'm not mistaken.

SPEAKER_02

All you want is the wheel.

SPEAKER_13

I see you piece of love. It's a park. It's a Saturday afternoon party.

SPEAKER_12

You bobbin?

SPEAKER_14

It's like the funky neck. I'm sorry, I was saying your name wrong. I was calling you Peace and Love. I wrote a song about Peace and Love that's just stuck in my head forever, but I meant to say Peace Loving Prince. Lots of interesting facts. One day we're gonna get to the bottom of it all. And those who follow Peace, Love and Prince know exactly what I'm talking about. So many breakdance groups out there. So many famous ones, New York City Breakers.

SPEAKER_12

Yes, we are.

SPEAKER_14

Alright, take care, peace, love, and prince. Peace and love. Thank you, ma'am. See you soon. Take care. Peace.

SPEAKER_17

Los Angeles. And all parts of the world! Where are the all the freakers on it? Free size of your heart. We gotta hold your hands out of there. Cause we really proud tonight because we know freakers eyes make better up. Now what we gotta do is pop! Every father. Are you ready to throw down?

SPEAKER_14

Hey, I haven't heard are you ready to throw down ever? That was the phrase in the in the music and dance world. Early 80s, are you ready to throw down? And the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire. We don't need no water, let the burn, burn, burn. This damn goes on for like twelve minutes strong. Welcome those of you joining. Appreciate you stopping by. Say hello. We're just having a Saturday afternoon party. That's all. It's a midnight star.

SPEAKER_17

I spent the food to white home. I bet you hold your right hand. I spent the fucking thumb. I fucked it off. What we're about to do now. Just think of the first. As far as we can. If they are

SPEAKER_14

I feel like I'm about to do that. That's gonna be good for the little ladies.

SPEAKER_11

We're gonna keep it moving. The joys of going.

SPEAKER_14

Remember this one? Eighty two. Again. Fourteen years old. Hip for some good RB. Howard Johnson. Best known for this one. All the all the girls in eighty two thought this song was about them.

SPEAKER_04

Come inside.

SPEAKER_06

It's called So Fine.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, you're so fine. So we spent some time doing stuff.

SPEAKER_06

I wanna get my baby. So pay.

SPEAKER_12

So you fake baby.

unknown

I wanna get to my heads in the air.

SPEAKER_14

I've been bobbing the entire show. It's just been nonsense. This is a recent performance from Howard Johnson. This is this is nowhere near the 1982 Howard Johnson. This is just a few years ago. Sounds like I'm suck.

SPEAKER_09

I want to say the baby baby I want to so five I won't say you might right here to the side. I hey girls, two minute you five. Now who you hate back close your eyes. I hey girls, two minute you five. Now who you hate back back lean to the side Hey bells, it five Now who you hate back back to the side Hey boss Alright, we're approaching one hour of live streaming, so we're just gonna move it on.

SPEAKER_14

We're gonna move it on to one of my all-time favorite songs.

unknown

If you know it, sing along.

SPEAKER_14

The live version British artist by the name of Junior. Hot back in the early 80s.

SPEAKER_05

One, two, three.

SPEAKER_14

The volume's a little low on this one. How's it coming through?

unknown

It is time to come on age. We would have to know the age.

SPEAKER_16

Mama used to say, Mama used to say, don't you take it all?

SPEAKER_14

And mama used to say, a little bit out of my range. High, high pitch voice.

SPEAKER_05

How his mommy passed away from these lines. She would say, could not understand.

SPEAKER_16

Don't you like to say, take it in your sky? Live your life. You're doing Now is the time for you to try for you to get there.

SPEAKER_14
