Welcome back to Sisters on the Scene. I'm Bad Mag. And I'm Hollywood Hill. And somebody just had a birthday. I did. Oh my gosh. Yesterday, May 21st. Our favorite Gemini queen. I am the first day of Gemini, so I don't claim Gemini entirely. I'm a Taurus Gemini cuss. That is true. So you're not full Gemini. Not like a June Gemini. That's like full blown. Well, tell us a little bit about your birthday. We always make a big deal out of birthdays. We always have. What did we do this year? Always and forever. So this was a really big birthday for me. 31. 31 W-O-N. I always think that's so cute. Or 30 fun. Oh, 30 fun's cute too. This birthday was a lot more fun than last birthday, let me tell you. So for my 30th birthday, I had planned on going to Maui, Hawaii, for the first time, doing a romantic getaway with Marcus at the Ritz-Carlton. It was gonna be a whole big thing. First time in Hawaii, because even though Logan lives there, we have never been. No, so I was super excited, you know, clicking along, living my life, getting ready for this birthday trip. And two days before the trip is when my Tibiole Plateau fracture happened at the house from a freak accident fall. And so luckily we insured those flights. PSA Socialites, get the insurance on your flights or buy the option where you either get a refund or a credit. These flights were Delta, so we ended up getting an e-credit, but you never truly know what's gonna happen. So lesson learned with that. Always get flight insurance. That is such a good point because there are so many times where you want everything to go off without a hitch, but you just never know. So just pay a couple extra dollars and just insure that flight. Because my leg was so swollen from the break, from the fracture, I had to wait a week to get my surgery. So I actually spent my 30th birthday in pain, in bed with my leg elevated prior to my surgery. So you can imagine this birthday. I am up, I am walking, I am enjoying life, and honestly, I am just happy to be here and to be walking on two legs. And so this year was a little bit more about gratitude and reflection, I feel like for me. This was a full redemption arc. To just be bedridden for 30, to now be living your best life, enjoying the pool, enjoying life. Well, I did consider doing a redemption arc trip to Hawaii. I did.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00I just started my next set, and it just would have been a lot to ask, hey, can I have a week off? I just didn't really feel like it was necessary. I'm so excited to be back at work and to be working on a show, and so I didn't want to compromise that. This year I just decided to do a little low-key celebration at our house. It was simple, but I had everything that I needed because I was with the people I love in the house that I love and just happy to be walking and not needing surgery again. Yeah. It's truly the simple things. We are notorious for the week-long celebrations, month-long, if you will. We actually are working on planning some bucketless trips right now. So even though we're not taking a trip for your birthday, we do have some really fun travel around the corner. We typically are a travel for the birthday or some kind of big situation. Oh yeah. We take our birthdays very seriously. And I will say too, we did actually do a little retreat weekend. It was an amazing yoga astrology retreat that we did locally here in Los Angeles at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, which is where they film The Bachelorette or have in the past. It's such a stunning property and it's been on our list for a while. We've been really wanting to stay there. So when this opportunity presented itself as an early birthday celebration, it felt so aligned. It also was aligned because my favorite astrologer of all time, Susan Miller, was part of this retreat, and I got to meet her and do a full natal chart reading for my birthday, which is basically where an astrologer looks at your birth chart at the exact date, time, and place that you were born and look at where the planets were at that particular time. And then they kind of use it as a trajectory for your life what you should focus on, career path, what you would excel in. It's really, really interesting. And I've wanted to get one for so long, and I literally got my natal chart read by Susan Miller. The Susan Miller. She is world-renowned. She's known for her accuracy. And she works with a lot of celebrities. She is an amazingly talented woman, so I think that was such an amazing birthday gift that you were able to do a reading with her. That was a really great way to celebrate early. And it was so relaxing. We got a little staycation together, a little sister weekend. We love our sister retreats. It would be my dream to host a baddie on break retreat in the future. Yeah, that is one of Maddie's really big goals, and I know you'll make it happen. Absolutely. Oh, and I also spent my birthday making a dream board. We are huge on dream board socialites, and normally we make them at the first of the year. Yeah. New year, new me, what are our goals? We believe in the power of manifestation because obviously, like we've talked about in the past, we pasted us magazine clippings on the back of our door of Hollywood, of celebrities. And I think that was a direct manifestation to our life now. I think so too, and we'll definitely have a whole episode dedicated to manifestation and just dreamboarding in general. But manifestation comes in different forms and works differently for different people. It's just the visualization of it all. It's like if you can look at something daily, it calls it into your reality. Madeline and I have a really specific way that we dreamboard, so we'll link that video in the description because we don't just look at future goals, we actually really encompass our entire life and pull from the past and the present. So it's a whole thing. And we'll link that video in the description. I do think too that you are the master of your own reality. Nothing is off limits. If you can dream it, you can do it. So because of the whole leg scenario that I've been dealing with the past year, I did not make a dream board in 2025. So I'm like, you know what? On my birthday, it's birthday energy. I'm gonna go ahead and make my dream board for 31 to 32. So we may start honestly doing that. I told you I was like, maybe we should start making them on our birthdays rather than the first of the year, which I actually really like that idea because then it feels like you're setting goals for your next year rather than the next year. Yes, and I think to a birthday, I especially wasn't tuned to this particular birthday. But it's such a good time to kind of do some evaluations with yourself. You need to do some house cleaning with yourself. What did you accomplish in the past year? What did you not accomplish in the last year? What do you need to work on? What are some blind spots? Where do you want to go? What are some personal goals? I feel like you should kind of have a sit-down with yourself and go over those things. I think that's great because birthdays should be a celebration, but they also should be a reflection, in my opinion, of your past year and how far you've come and what you still need to work on. Clock that tea, sister. So that's what this year was about for me. And it was just about being in a location that makes me happy, our house, being with the people I love, being with the dogs. And the only thing that would have made this better is mom, dad, and Logan, obviously. That's true. We weren't able to make that happen, but they actually were here to celebrate last year. So sometimes simpler is better. I mean, once in a while. Once in a while, it's not always about the gig and gag of it. I definitely wouldn't describe us as simple, but sometimes it is nice to just get back to your roots and think about what matters and celebrate that way. I would also say it reminds me of a past birthday that is one of my absolute favorites. This is such a weird, distinct memory, but one. I don't even remember how old I was turning, but it was during COVID. Oh my gosh. And I like the fact that that is a favorite of mine. So essentially, we didn't have a ton of options because it was during lockdown. You, me, and Marcus were living together in Columbus as Freeze Company. We were locked down together. And so I remember you guys left me in my room, and you're like, okay, don't come out until 11 in the morning. Which is so COVID-coded. We banished you to your own bedroom. Yes. I was banished to the bedroom, and you guys decorated, and you had gifts waiting for me, and you made me breakfast. And I just remember we spent the day drinking mimosas, watching my favorite TV show, Wildfire, and just talking to people on the phone. I was getting so many calls, birthday wishes. And that to me, I was with two of my favorite people in the whole entire world, and I just felt so special. And that birthday was so simple. That's really sweet. So that's one of my favorites. What would you say one of your favorite birthdays is? Oh my gosh, this is so hard. I feel like we always do so much for our birthdays that I always have really positive birthday memories, but some birthdays that stand out for me. Yes. Definitely 18. When I turned 18, I remember we celebrated at the lake with Gigi and Papa, mom and dad. I had this awesome cake of me water skiing. Yes. It was a little cartoon girl, but it looked like me. Oh, I remember. That cake was so cute. And Labor Day weekend too is always the last weekend of the lake. So I do remember that one because we were both in high school. Yes. And it just was so sweet. Like that's such a sweet memory, especially because Papa was there. And that's a good one. I of course have really great memories. Well, sort of. The pictures, I guess. I have really great pictures for my 21st birthday. I do remember some stuff, but my 21st birthday, that was Project H. Social Heights. If you remember Project X, it was a movie about a big backyard party. We wanted my 21st birthday to be a play on Project X. So we called it Project H. Yes, and our friend Baby B had her friend come who was a bartender. So we had a full stocked bar in the penthouse. Wait, was that when we suspended the whale from the ceiling, or that was a different one? And I know some of you listening remember this because it is so specific, and people to this day will be like, I remember that crazy party with the inflatable whale suspended from the ceiling. It was a beach theme for my birthday. Project H beach theme. We had shirtless lifeguards wandering around with shot trays. And we also had a very special guest, Frankie Muniz. Yes. Okay, so we had really attractive lifeguards wandering around the party with shots, but then also they had whistles where they'd blow the whistle for a party foul if somebody would spill a drink or something like that. And then Frankie Muniz, like Malcolm in the Middle, happened to be on campus that weekend because he was in a band at this time in his life. And made an appearance at the penthouse. And we have it confirmed on video. We will have to share that on our social media. Sisters on the scene, follow that Instagram account. But Frankie Muniz was there. That is so funny. And we decorated the entire apartment with different beach decorations, and that just was such a fun memory because Madeline and I love a themed party. I think that's my first memory of us throwing a party on our own without mom and dad. That was themed. So that was my 21st, spent at OU throwing a killer party. Madeline's 21st was a little different. It was. Okay, so again, we're living in Ohio. We haven't visited LA. We haven't done anything super, super crazy. We're just kids. We had it in our mind that we wanted to go to Miami for my 21st. Why? We're not sure. I feel like we just threw a dart and it landed on Miami and we're like, yeah, Miami's cool. Let's do it. We're like, Miami's the scene. We have to go there in our crazy outfits and have a crazy time. And uh, we definitely had a crazy time. It was so much fun. However. However, I will say, as a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old, we were like fish out of water to an extent. We had no business being in Miami with basically no money. And we didn't even have a lot of friends that lived there. So we had no friends who lived there. We had no connections at the time. And we just thought we could show up at is it live? Live. And that's just so not the vibe in Miami. It's all about connections. It's all about the party scene. And we thought we could just roll up to live. I don't know if we thought, you know, because Drake sings about Miami that we could just pull up and we have this hilarious story. Um, yes, the Live Nightclub. We're like, okay, we have to hit live at some point on this trip. We were there for like a long weekend. So I don't even know. This is actually one of my favorite stories. The 21st also is my golden birthday. So I wore this golden romper that made me look like an Oscar statue. Loved it. Was an amazing outfit. And I had a gold one-piece swimsuit. Like I was embracing the fact that it was my golden birthday. But we show up to live and everything was great. You know, romper, jewelry, hair, makeup done, all of that. We're thinking we're rocking the looks. We didn't realize that to get into live, you either had to buy a table, which, you know, started at 10 grand, I want to say, or the bouncer would, you know, kind of give you the nod, like, come on in, and you know, you'd get to go in. So we're schmoozing for a few minutes, things are looking good. He grabbed us by the hands to usher us in, and then his eyes fall on my shoes. Now looking back, we're hideous. I mean, he takes one look at Madeline's shoes and he goes, Oh no. No. This is a true story. And so I was wearing like these flats. They were Gabriel Brothers' finest. And he was not having it. He clocked the teeth. He's like, those are not Christian Louutons. I don't think so. He said, I'm sorry, girls, you're cute, but no. No. To this day, we still laugh about the fact that we kicked out a live for my shoes. We had to slink out. We slinked a different party. We found an alternate plan though, because we ended up at this club that had 12-foot-tall Power Rangers that lit up. And we made friends and we had so much fun and we were out until like 4 a.m. So crisis averted. I will always remember never wear ugly shoes to the club. I also think, too, Miami is what people think LA is. I think it's just a lot of pressure. And so just being two little girls who just want to go and have fun, we had no clue that we'd be judged for Madeline's flats. We had no business being there. And yeah, I would say the club scene in LA is so much more fun. The problem with the LA club scene is we don't stay open past two. So it's all about the after parties. I will give that to Miami. They do stay open past that two o'clock curfew because that is just lame. Yeah, I agree. So we learned our lesson in Miami, and for the next several birthdays in Columbus, we decided to keep it local, but we still made it bougie. So I remember I think it was for my 22nd, maybe. We rented a limo. Yes. We had like a nice dinner with, I want to say like seven or eight of our closest girlfriends, and did bottle service at a local Columbus club. I will say that I miss the mystique of a limo because we just don't see them very much. Even here in LA, it's all about the escalades. Yes! Also, the sprinters because people don't want to wrinkle the dress or they just want to be able to stand. But it is kind of lame. It's like, give me a limo, bring back the limo. For aesthetics, a limo will always be my choice. So that was so fun. Oh my gosh, and we just drove around. We had champagne, we're taking pictures, we're listening to the playlist. And then we definitely rolled up to the club, got out of the limo, had the limo wait. No, and we are big, big limo girlies because we did that for your birthday too. I want to say like two years later. Oh my gosh, so fun. And do you remember? I think it was that same birthday where we did bottle service at BBR in Columbus and rented out that whole section. We love a section. Shout out BBR back in Columbus. Many, many birthdays were spent there on the stage. I think that really inspired my 30th birthday. Madeline had been saying for years that for 30 we needed to rent a huge yacht.
SPEAKER_01I did say this.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, yes, yes. And we had to invited some of our friends. And we just cruised around on this beautiful yacht for the whole afternoon. And that was one of my all-time favorite birthdays. Also, do you remember you coordinated with Logan to surprise me? I had no idea Logan was coming. I was in the middle of getting ready. This was in the penthouse. This is when we lived in the penthouse. I had said, like, I'm gonna go get your cake or something like that. And so flew him in for 24 hours from Ohio. Went and picked him up at the airport. He had flowers for you and your cake, and you cried instantly. I'm a lot more sentimental than you would guess. Yes. Well, I mean, being surprised like that by someone you love so much. If you can pull off a surprise, a true surprise party, or just some kind of big surprise, it is just so special for that person. And then obviously, my 30th was the tibial plateau fracture. So that will always go down in history as a memorable birthday, but not for a very good reason. Before all the mayhem of our bougie birthday traditions, growing up, how did mom and dad treat our birthdays? I do think that birthdays are made when you're growing up. So mom and dad always treated birthdays as a big celebration. We got to pick our meal. We picked our dinner, we got to pick our cake, and we're just treated like queens for the day. Mom and dad always made it so special. And the thing is, too, it wasn't so much about the gifts. Like obviously, we got gifts. Yeah. But to me, it was more about the celebration aspect and it being your day. Like they made it very clear that it is your day. All about you. We've definitely mentioned mom is really crafty in previous episodes. So when we were younger, mom went all out for the cakes. I remember for me, specifically a unicorn cake, a blues clues cake. What do you remember? Mom ate down on the cakes. I want to say we did a spirit cake. Oh my god. Spirit cake. And there was also one, I remember this, and social lights. We're talking she made these from scratch. I remember because when I was younger, I was absolutely dog obsessed. I was the type of person that would ask for dog books and stuffed animals for my birthdays. Thank you. It was one birthday. Where mom used like little dog figurines to make like a dog park almost, and she made a pool out of blue jello that the dogs were swimming in on the cake. We have to find some of these pictures and share them. I have to, because I mean that literally warms my heart so much. I remember too, we threw huge family birthday parties with our aunts and uncles and cousins. Yes. I remember that being an all-day event. Everybody would come. And those memories are just so special looking back at the old pictures and just spending so much time with your cousins and extended family when you're young is so important. I literally feel like it's like a treasure. Like I treasure those memories, and I can land right back in the middle of one of those parties with all of our aunts and uncles, all of our grandparents. It's nice out, you know, the backyard, the birds singing, us singing karaoke. That was a major, major event at the party's socialites. Our karaoke machine, everybody would get up and choose a song and sing. And it's just so great to spend those memories with both sides of the family. I think that's interesting too. Typically, when you see family members, it's just one side. So when you're having these big parties as kids, it's mom's side and dad's side. And that's one thing, too, I think we would like to carry on with our future families. Like we're always gonna have close-knit families because that's how we were raised. I was gonna say, I remember Uncle Kyle and Aunt Anne singing Love Shack. That's right. Specifically, and Kiss from a Rose.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00By Seal. Just very vivid memories from the karaoke machine. What was your go-to party song? Turn back time, share. Obviously. And hit me, baby, one more time, Brittany. Absolutely. For you, definitely gypsies, tramps, and thieves. Oh, period. Oh, period. Gypsies, tramps, and thieves. And I feel like too. What was that Vanessa Williams song? Save the best for last. That was another classic. And if you change your mind on the first day, honey, I'm still free. What's that? Take a chance on me. Definitely some really great memories when we were younger growing up. We just have always loved a birthday, and mom and dad always made it so special. I wanted to get into aging a little bit too. Yeah. I specifically remember my 28th birthday feeling very upset that I was close to 30. And this was the first time I'd ever not been excited to turn an age. And so I just wanted to talk a little bit about aging because now that I'm over 30, I don't care at all. I think every day is a gift. Every year is a gift. And I really think that society needs to start embracing aging. Honestly, yes. And I feel like working in Hollywood, you know, you would think maybe we would have all this tremendous pressure of like, oh my gosh, you have to stay young. But I feel like, I mean, we see so many women getting into the height of their career in their 40s, in their 50s, in their 60s, and looking better than ever, living their best life. Each decade just keeps getting more and more successful, more self-assured, more confident. The 30s are the new 20s, the 40s are the new 30s, the 50s are the new 40s. It just keeps like getting better and better. So, no, I feel like we are almost looking forward to what's to come. I think so too. And the women that we look up to the most in the industry and in our personal lives are women over 40. Absolutely, yes. They know the most, they have things figured out. They know themselves. Exactly. They're unbothered by the little things. I mean, there is just a wisdom that comes with age. And I do think that we as a society need to kind of flip how aging is viewed because it really is such a blessing. Every year is something to be thankful for. I think it is swinging that way though, because think about the Us magazine covers that we used to clip the pictures out of. It was all about, oh my gosh, she looks so old, she needs plastic surgery. Like it was vicious. Yeah. And now I don't think that's the conversation at all. Also, with modern medicine and just different cosmetic procedures, people are looking younger than ever. Chris Jenner looks like she's our age. We love you, Chris. Period. I will say too, we have never touched our faces or bodies thus far. However, I'm not saying I wouldn't if I felt the need, but we never have. And honestly, it is a really slippery slope because when you start, even just something like Botox, you can't go back. And that I feel like we've been really cognizant of, especially living in Los Angeles. We have not felt the pressure of we have to go get injections to keep up. People are very much do whatever you want to do and mind their own business here. We haven't felt any kind of pressure like that at all. Bad Mad has gotten cheek filler allegations, which I think is so funny. I could see it though. I seriously have. I've always had such high cheekbones. And I think that that is gonna come in handy when I am like 40 or 50 years old. I think so too. You have great apples, great cheek apples. Yeah, and that's what people pay money to get done. So I mean, I understand the allegations, but no, I've just always had these little apples. Marcus loves them. They're so cute. However, we are very big on skincare. We're very big on staying hydrated. I am huge on sunscreen. I am always going around asking people at work and at home, are you wearing sunscreen? Social lights, also really important to make sure you're including your neck and your hands when you're moisturizing. You definitely want to include those areas because the skin is thinner and they show signs of aging first. I will say, too, this is major T and proof that our skincare and drinking water and eating healthy works. Anytime we're meeting somebody for the first time in the industry or just meeting them in general, always assume that I'm like 24 or 25 and that you're 26 or 27. Those are the ages we always get for whatever reason. That is so true. I think a lot of that is personality. If you're keeping up with the trends and you're fun and light, it gives off a youthful impression. That's why age is just a number. Age truly is just a number because it is your energy, it's your aura. If you have the aura of a 25-year-old, you have the aura of a 25-year-old. Absolutely. And I do still feel like we're teenagers. Like, I'm sorry, I am not in my 30s. I do not claim that. I am literally a teenager. That is the strange thing about aging, too. I think that's a big thing with our generation. Like, we don't feel like grown-ups. I don't feel grown. No, I know that we're getting older, and obviously we're more mature than we were when we were teenagers, but I have the same brain up there. I think the same things. It's really strange. Our energy is exactly the same. I mean, even with us just seeing that old OU friend a couple weeks ago, you're both exactly the same. And that to me is one of the highest compliments we can get because we truly have never switched up. And I don't want us to ever change. Never will. Never will. I don't want our energy to ever change. So I do think if you're having some anxiety around a birthday or the number on your cake, let it go, babes. It's just another chapter in your amazing novel. It's all a mentality. And since no one knows how much time they have, you do want to make sure you're living your life to your fullest and you're making the decisions for you, living your best life. That's why I always say when you guys are like, Maddie, are you gonna DoorDash another coffee this morning? And I simply say, yes, yes, I am, because I want to do everything today that, if this was my last day, would check all my boxes. And that includes DoorDash. And that includes DoorDash. So I do think, in all seriousness, live each day to the fullest. Do what makes you happy every single day if you can. Try to fill it with things that you love and people you love. I think that's how to get the most out of life. And it's never too late. If there's something you want to pursue, we say pursue it. You only get one life and you want to look back and know that you took every opportunity. It reminds me of that Randall Pink quote.
SPEAKER_01I did everything I could when I was here. When I was stuck in this place.
SPEAKER_00You want to make sure that you explored every opportunity and you lived an authentic life. Yeah, and I think each year of your life is a new era. You know, what do you want to focus on in this next era or this next chapter? And for me, coming off of this tibial plateau fracture, I'm now in my healing girl era, okay? I am going to continue to heal, continue to get stronger, continue to get in the best shape of my life, and be open to every single opportunity that comes my way. Happy belated Bad Mad. Thank you so much. And yes, thank you to everyone for all the birthday love. I always feel so loved on my birthday. Like everyone better have wished Bad Mad a happy birthday. It's like if you're watching all my stories, you better be wishing me a happy birthday. Sister says if you watch someone's Instagram story of them saying it's my birthday and you don't say anything, you're kind of a jerk. That is so mean. I'm like, take the two seconds to be like happy birthday. Otherwise, why are you on my page? You can even say happy B Day if you don't want to type it all out. I agree. I love wishing people happy birthday because you never know what someone's going through or what they have going on in their life, but your birthday is a day that all of your problems should fade away and you should just feel nothing but love. Yes, never miss an opportunity to make someone feel special, especially on their birthday. That's a big Kev quote. That is something that dad has really taught us over the years, and we live by this. Never miss an opportunity to make someone feel special. I think too, with the whole tibial plateau fractures, when I was down for the count, literally down, so many people showed up for me, and it made me feel so, so good. But it made me think about the fact that if you don't show up for people in your moment of need, they're not gonna show up for you. So be there for other people for sure. And you do notoriously pour into so many other people. Thanks. It was really amazing to see how many people poured into you. I was getting packages like every day. Socialites. She got over 30 packages. It was insane! I am not even kidding. I felt so much love, and I felt so much love this year on my birthday, too. And I think that's all we have time for, Socialites. I actually have a flight to catch. Yes, Hollywood Hill is out of here for her next gig. But don't fear, Socialites, the podcast is still gonna be up and running. We're so excited to bring you some awesome episodes in the coming weeks. See you next week. Bye. You're listening to Sisters on the Scene podcast with Bad Mad and Hollywood Hill.
