Scattered Moments
Brief reflections on faith, adversity, and the quiet places where grace appears.
Each episode of Scattered Moments is a brief journey through the unexpected classrooms where God does His deepest work — hospital rooms and sanctuaries, seasons of grief and flashes of joy, the ordinary moments where grace shows up and changes everything.
Drawing from over forty years of writing, ministry, and life in the trenches, Matt Tullos weaves together original poetry, hymn stories, Scripture, and honest reflection to remind you that even adversity, you are not alone.

Scattered Moments
*Meditation: Gratitude | Psalm 34
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this guided meditation, we slow down long enough to notice the goodness of God that often goes unseen in the rush of everyday life.
Drawing from Psalm 34:1, "I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips," this quiet reflection invites you to breathe deeply, release your burdens, and cultivate a heart of gratitude. Through Scripture, prayer, and gentle moments of stillness, you'll be encouraged to remember God's faithfulness in both joyful and difficult seasons.
Whether you're beginning your day, taking a midday pause, or settling your heart in the evening, this meditation offers a simple invitation: to rest in God's presence and give thanks.
Scripture: Psalm 34:1–8
Take a few moments to breathe, reflect, and rediscover the gift of gratitude.
Scattered Moments is a quiet place for faith, reflection, and grace in the midst of a busy world.
Hello, friends, and thank you so much for joining me for another added scattered moments meditation. Whether you're getting up this morning, or perhaps you're in the middle of the day and you just need five or ten minutes just to center yourself back on the Lord, or perhaps you're just winding down and praying for sweet sleep. This is an opportunity for you to focus in on the Lord and give thanks. Psalm 34 verse 1 says, I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will always be on my lips. Today we come quietly before the Lord with hearts turned toward gratitude, not rushed gratitude, not performative gratitude, but the kind that settles slowly into the soul like evening light across still water. Now, I hope you've found a comfortable place, a place where you can rest your hands gently, let your shoulders loosen, unclinch your jaw, allow your breathing to slow, take a slow breath in through your nose, and exhale gently. Again, breathe in deeply and let the breath go slowly. One more time. Breathe in the goodness of God. Breathe out anxiety, hurry, and noise. And now listen to verse one again. I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise will always be on my lips. At all times, not only in abundance, not only when prayers are answered the way we hoped. But even in ordinary days, even in uncertain seasons, even in weariness, loneliness, confusion, and joy. Thanksgiving is not a denial of pain, it is a remembrance of presence. As you breathe quietly now, begin to meditate on the gifts around your life, the breath in your lungs, the steady rhythm of your heart, the people who have carried grace into your story. Moments of laughter. Now focus on memories of rescue. Moments when God sustained you even when you barely noticed He was there. Breathe slowly. And as you exhale, whisper quietly. Thank you, Lord. Again, breathe in and breathe out. Thank you, Lord. Let that simple prayer become the rhythm of your soul. And if distractions come, don't fight them harshly. Just gently return your attention to gratitude. Picture yourself placing your burdens into the hands of Christ one by one. The unfinished work, the fears of tomorrow, the ache you carry quietly, the questions without answers, those known only by God and you, and now in their place receive his peace. Psalm 34 goes on to say, taste and see that the Lord is good, not merely understand, not merely explain, taste and see. Faith was never meant to be only analyzed, it is meant to be lived, experienced, received, breathed. So rest here for a moment in the goodness of God. Thank you, Lord. Lord, thank you for sustaining us through days we could not sustain ourselves. Thank you for daily bread, for mercy, for friendship, for laughter, for scripture, for hope. Thank you for the quiet evidence of your faithfulness scattered throughout our lives. Teach us to become people of gratitude, even in uncertain times. Let praise rise naturally from our lips, because your goodness has carried us again and again. Amen. And before you go today, carry this with you. Gratitude does not ignore the darkness, it simply refuses to believe the darkness is all there is. So take care. Notice the scattered moments and share the grace.
