Welcome, welcome, welcome to the greater Oh, oh the greater outpouring Worship Center, our midday or midweek gathering that we have every week. And we're so glad that you are able to join us, whether you're watching on YouTube or however you're watching. And we just think thankful, very thankful that you are here. Amen. And today we're gonna go back and we're gonna look at uh the fruit of goodness. We've been talking about the fruit of the spirit. And today um let me let me say this first. The apostolic church must not only move in power, signs, wonders, prophecy, and gifts, but we must also reveal the character of Christ. And one of the greatest missing elements in many believers today is goodness. We have talents without goodness, gifting without goodness, and influence without goodness. Goodness is not a um trying to find the word I want to use goodness is the character of Christ. And in this, we must understand that we cannot do anything without the goodness of God because He has been so faithful, He has been so grateful in everything that He has done. But the Holy Spirit does not only come to give us power. He comes to transform our character. Many believers desire gifts, they desire miracles, they desire prophecy, they desire influence, and they desire authority. But God is looking for believers who also carry integrity, compassion, holiness, and goodness. The fruit of the Spirit is evidence that Christ is being formed within us. There will be a sign where people can look at you and tell that God has made a difference in your life. Goodness is one of the clearest manifestations of the nature of God in a believer's life. What is goodness according to Scripture? Goodness is the moral character and righteousness nature of God expressed through the life of a believer by the Holy Spirit. The Greek word is agathosun, agathesuni. That means uprightness. It means virtue, generosity, moral excellence, and active righteousness. Goodness is love demonstrated through action. We always hear the old saying, love is what love does. Well love demonstrates goodness is love demonstrated through action. Let's look at Psalms thirty four and eight.
SPEAKER_01Psalms thirty-four and eight. How blessed, fortunate, prosperous and favor by God is the man who takes refuge in him.
SPEAKER_00O taste and see that the Lord is good. When David wrote this song, he said you must taste this. Not only feel it, not only see it, not only smell it, but the only way you can find out if it's good or not is you gotta get you a taste of it. My Lord. You never know what medicine tastes like until you taste it. Amen. You don't know if it's bitter, you don't know if it's sweet until you taste it. Yes, hallelujah. Psalm 145 and verse number nine.
SPEAKER_01Psalms 145 verse nine. The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works, the entirety of things created.
SPEAKER_00God is not merely good occasionally. Goodness is his nature. Everything truly good flows from him. You cannot produce spiritual goodness through human effort alone. Human goodness is limited. Emotional, this is what human goodness is limited to. Emotional, conditional, and inconsistent. But the goodness produced by the Holy Spirit is divine in origin. Can unbelievers do good things? Yes, they can. People can do morally good acts outwardly, but true spiritual goodness comes from a transformed heart and the Spirit of God. God examines motives, intentions, and heart posture. We have to know where our heart is with God. Goodness is a fruit and not a performance. Look at John 15 and 5.
SPEAKER_01John 15 and 5. And I'm reading from the Amplified Bible. John fifteen and five says, I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who remains in me, and I and him bear much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
SPEAKER_00Fruit develops naturally from connection. Did you get that? Say it again. You do not struggle to force fruit. Fruit grows through abiding in Christ. Many believers, many believers focus more on public gifting than private character. But God is asking, can your character sustain your anointing? Can your integrity sustain your influence? Can your goodness sustain your authority? Or what's the difference between gifts and fruit? Good question. Gifts are abilities given by the Spirit. Fruit is character developed by the Spirit. Gifts reveal what God can do through you. Fruit reveals who Christ is forming within you. Why is fruit important? Because fruit reflects spiritual maturity. A person can operate in gifts while still struggling in character. But fruit reveals transformation. Let's look at the characteristics of goodness. Look at Proverbs ten and nine.
SPEAKER_01Proverbs ten and nine. He who walks in integrity and with a moral character walks securely, but he who takes a crooked way will be discovered and punished.
SPEAKER_00Goodness produces integrity. Integrity means honesty, consistency, purity, and sincerity. Goodness causes believers to live truthfully in private and public. Why is integrity important in ministry? Because without integrity, ministry becomes dangerous. Godly character protects leaders, churches, marriages, and ministries. Goodness produces compassion. Ephesians four thirty two.
SPEAKER_01Be kind and helpful to one another, tender hearted, compassionate, understanding, forgiving one another readily and freely, just as God in Christ also forgave you.
SPEAKER_00Goodness moves beyond emotion into action. Jesus healed the sick, fed the hunger, restored the broken, and touched the rejected. Goodness acts. How can I know if goodness is growing in my life? You will begin to forgive faster, love deeper, care more for people, become less selfish, and respond with compassion. Goodness confronts evil. Romans twelve and twenty one.
SPEAKER_01Romans twelve twenty one. Do not be overcome and conquered by evil, but overcome evil with good.
SPEAKER_00Goodness is not weakness. Biblical goodness stands for truth, opposes darkness, confronts corruption, and walks in righteousness. Jesus demonstrated goodness while confronting hypocrisy. Is goodness passive? No. Goodness has courage. It refuses compromise while maintaining righteousness and love. And Jesus was the perfect example of goodness.
SPEAKER_01How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
SPEAKER_00Everywhere Jesus went, lives were healed, chains were broken, people were restored. Goodness was visible throughout his actions. Jesus did not simply preach goodness. He demonstrated goodness. And the church must become the visible expression of God's goodness in the earth. Why did Jesus spend so much time helping people? Because goodness is part of the nature of God. Jesus revealed the Father through compassion and righteous actions. Let's look at some biblical examples of goodness. Let's look at Joseph, Genesis fifty and twenty.
SPEAKER_01Genesis fifty and twenty. As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about the present outcome that many people will be kept alive.
SPEAKER_00Joseph demonstrated goodness after betrayal, and he forgave instead of taking revenge out of everything that his brothers done to him. Instead of going after them, he forgave them. He forgave his brothers. Why is forgiveness connected to goodness? Because bitterness blocks spiritual fruit. Goodness releases mercy instead of revenge. Let's look at Barnabas. Acts eleven twenty four.
SPEAKER_01For Barnabas was a good man, privately and publicly. His godly character benefited both himself and others, and he was full of the Holy Spirit and full of faith in Jesus the Nazareth, through him, through whom believers have everlasting life, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.
SPEAKER_00Barnabas encouraged believers. He restored confidence and he helped others grow. Goodness builds people up. Look at Boaz. Boaz showed goodness toward Ruth through generosity, through honor, through protection, and through compassion. Goodness lifts others rather.
