SPEAKER_00

Amen. Okay, tonight we we're gonna be talking about, like I said, we're gonna be talking about meekness. I want to talk about strength under God's control. Read Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 and 23, which is our main, been our main scriptures for the last so many weeks.

unknown

Galatians 5.

SPEAKER_00

Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 and 23.

SPEAKER_01

22 and 22. But the fruit of the Spirit, the results of his presence within us, is love, unselfish concern for others, joy, inner peace, patience, not ability to wait, but how we act while waiting. Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

SPEAKER_00

Many, many people misunderstand meekness. The world often sees meekness as weakness. But biblical meekness is not weakness, it is power under control. A wild horse may be powerful, but a trained horse is meek. Not because this lost strength, but because its strength is submitted to its master. And likewise, a meek believer has strength, authority, gifts, and abilities, but willingly submits them to God. Let's look at the definition of meekness. The Greek word is praetus. Praetus. It means gentleness, humility, control, strength, and submission to God. Meekness is strength, surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Look at Matthew chapter 11, verse 29.

SPEAKER_01

Matthew 11 and 29 reads, Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

SPEAKER_00

Jesus described himself as meek. Jesus was strong, yet meek. He cleaned the temple, he rebuked Pharisees, He cast out devils, he calmed storms, yet he remained meek. Isaiah 53 and 7.

SPEAKER_01

Isaiah 53 7 reads, He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth to complain or defend himself, like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that is solid before her shears. So he did not open his mouth.

SPEAKER_00

Jesus had power to call angels. Now look at Matthew twenty six and fifty-three.

SPEAKER_01

Matthew twenty six and fifty three. Twenty six fifty three.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. And he will immediately prove me with more than twelve legions of angels.

SPEAKER_00

The King James says, Thinkest thou that I cannot pray to my father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels. Jesus had power but chose obedience.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Meekness is not the absence of power. Meekness is the restraint of power under God's direction.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Was Jesus weak because he allowed himself to be crucified? No. Jesus voluntarily submitted himself to God's plan. It took more strength to stay on the cross than to come down from it. Look at Numbers number 12 and verse number three.

SPEAKER_01

Numbers 12 and 3 reads, Now the man, Moses was very humble. He was gentle, kind, and devoid of sound righteousness. More than any man who was on the face of the earth.

SPEAKER_00

Moses. Moses, the man who led the people across the Red Sea. What made Moses meek? He led millions. He faced rebellion. He endured criticism, but yet depended on God. Miriam and Aaron opposed him. In Numbers chapter twelve, it shows Moses refusing even to defend himself. God defended him. They do not need to win every argument. Sometimes, a lot of times, even more times than not, it's good to keep our mouths shut.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Plain and simple. Because as long as we are quiet, because a lot of things that we go through is a test. We hear it all the time. When you take a test, everything is quiet. You don't hear nothing from the teacher. You don't hear no students talking. Everything is quiet. Here are the signs of a meek spirit. They're teachable. They're humble. They are patient. They are forgiving. And they are not easily offended. In the world, and even in the church world.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Can a leader be strong and meek?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely. Moses, Paul, David were all strong leaders who operated in meekness. Look at Philippians chapter 2, verse number 3.

SPEAKER_01

Philippians 2 and 3 reads, Do not do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility, being neither arrogant nor self-righteous. Regard others as more important than yourself.

SPEAKER_00

In lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than themselves. Humility and meekness works together. Humility is how we view ourselves. Meekness is how we treat others. This is what pride produces. Competition, division, and self-promotion. Meekness produces unity, peace, and cooperation. What's the danger of pride? Then look at Proverbs chapter 16, verse 18.

SPEAKER_01

Proverbs 16 and 18 read, Pride goes before destruction. In a halty spirit before a fall.

SPEAKER_00

Pride caused Saul's downfall. And pride caused Nebuchadnezzar's humiliation. Meekness keeps us dependent upon God. Let's look at meekness in relationships. Look at Ephesians chapter 4, verse 2.

SPEAKER_01

Ephesians 4 and 2 read, with all humility, forsaking self-righteousness and gentleness, maintaining self-control, with patient bearing with one another, and unselfish love.

SPEAKER_00

With all lowliness and meekness. Meekness and marriage. Patience and respect. And it's hard sometimes to have patience in a marriage. But if you have patience, then you will show the respect of the marriage. Let's look at meekness in ministry. Meekness in ministry, accepting corrections. That's hard. Real hard. Because a lot of people in church don't want to be corrected. Working with others. There is so much division, so much separation, so much hatred in the churches. People don't want to work with other people. Why? Because of their pride. Meekness in ministry causes you to avoid competition. There should be no competition in the house of God, period. There is only one pastor, only one leader who God has given the vision to. But if you have meekness in the church, let me show you what you have. You have unity. You have harmony. And you have cooperation. How? How do you have this? Look at James chapter 1, verse 19.

SPEAKER_01

James 1 and 19 reads understand this, my beloved brother and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear. Be a careful, thoughtful listener, slow to speak, a speaker of carefully chosen words, and slow to aid patience, reflective forgiveness?

SPEAKER_00

A meek believer listens before responding. Can meek people confront sin? Yes. Meekness is not silent. It is speaking truth with love and wisdom. Let's look at meekness and spiritual authority. Authority without meekness becomes abuse. 2 Timothy chapter 2, verses 24 and 25.

SPEAKER_01

2 Timothy 2, 24 and 25 read, the servant of the Lord must not participate in quarks, but must be kind to everyone, even tempered, preserving peace. And he must be skilled in teaching patience and tolerant when wrong. 25. He must correct those who are in oppositions with courtesy and gentleness in the hope that God may grant that they will repent and be led to the knowledge of the truth. Accelerating, accurately understanding, and welcoming it.

SPEAKER_00

Godly authority serves.

SPEAKER_01

So if I, the Lord, and the teacher wash your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet as well.

SPEAKER_00

I want you to get this. The higher God promotes us, the more meekness we need. Look at the characteristics of a meek leader. First of all, they are servant-hearted. They are teachable. They are approachable. They are compassionate and dependable. Something a lot of things a lot of people don't understand. Oh, look at James chapter 1, verses 2 through 4. I want to show you something that's hard.

SPEAKER_01

James 1, 2, 3, and 4. Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. 3. Be assured that the testing of your faith through experience produces endurance, leading to spiritual maturity and inner peace. 4. And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work so that you may be perfect and completely develop in your favor, lacking in nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Trials reveal whether we are operating in meekness. Look at Job. Job lost everything, but remained submitted to God. Look at David. David refused to kill Saul. Look at Joseph. He forgave his brothers. Meetness says God is in control. God knows what he is doing. And God will vindicate me. In other words, I don't need man's approval. I don't need nobody to try to prove if I'm guilty or not guilty. That is not your job. How do I remain meek when falsely accused? Simple. Follow Jesus' example. Speak with truth when necessary, but trust God for final vindication. Look at James chapter 1, verse 21.

SPEAKER_01

James 1 and 21 reads, So get rid of all uncleanliness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word of God, which is implanted, actually rooted in your heart, which is able to save your souls.

SPEAKER_00

Receive with meekness the engrafted word. Many believers struggle because they receive the word with pride. Lord, correct me. Lord, change me. Proud people say, I already know that. Nobody can teach me. And believe it or not, I've been told that before. You can't teach me nothing. Let's look at the benefits of meekness. Look at Psalms chapter twenty-five, verse nine.

SPEAKER_01

Twenty-five verse what?

SPEAKER_00

Nine.

SPEAKER_01

Psalms twenty nine twenty-five verse nine says, He leads the humble in justice, and he teaches the humble his way.

SPEAKER_00

The meek will he guide in judgment. God guides the meek.

SPEAKER_01

The Lord lifts up the humble.

SPEAKER_00

Matthew five verse five.

SPEAKER_01

Matthew five and five reads, Blessed, unwardly peace, spiritual security, worthy of respect, are the gentle, the kind hearted, the sweet spirited, the self-control, for they will inherit the earth.

SPEAKER_00

Remember this, the meek receive divine inheritance. How do we develop meekness? Stay filled with the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5 teaches that meekness is fruit of the Spirit. Practice humility. Serve others. Accept correction. Proverbs 12 and 1: Whosoever loveth instruction loveth knowledge. Control your tongue. Not every battle requires a response. And trust God's timing. God promotes those who remain faithful. Is meekness natural or supernatural? Is supernatural. It is produced by the Holy Spirit. Can strong personalities be meek? Yes. Meekness controls strength. It does not eliminate it. Why is meekness important in ministry? Because power without meekness becomes pride. And pride eventually destroys ministry. How can I know if I'm growing in meekness? I won't tell you how. You become less defensive, more teachable, slow to anger, and quicker to forgive. And you know what the greatest example of meekness is? Jesus Christ submitting himself to the Father's will at Calvary. Amen. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is strength submitted to God. The Holy Spirit wants to produce a church that is powerful but gentle, bold but humble, authoritative but loving. As believers walk in the Spirit, meekness becomes evident in their speech, their attitudes, their leadership, their relationships, and response to trials. So, Father, in the name of Jesus, produce the fruit of meekness in our lives. Deliver us from pride, arrogance, self-promotion, and stubbornness. Make us teachable, humble, gentle, and submitted to your spirit. Let the meekness of Christ be seen in our homes, our churches, our ministries, and in our communities. And we declare that we will walk in the Spirit and bear the fruit of meekness for your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen. That's all I have for you tonight. Thank you for joining. And next week we will finish up on the fruit of the Spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen. God bless everyone. Wherever you at, please let us know where you are. Let us know where you're listening from. In Jesus' name. Yes. Amen.
