Hello and welcome to Crows and Roses Podcast, a podcast made for creative and intellectual explorations centered in love and liberation. I'm your host, Nicole Olivia Dappo, and my intention for this podcast is to invite listeners into deeper awareness of themselves and the world around them, inviting courage and discernment while hopefully providing some tools and insight along the way. Now, always remember that what I share here is based on my own life and experiences. These are my insights. So although I encourage listening with an open heart and an open mind, it is up to you to choose what is most valuable and resonates with your own life and experiences. So without further ado, let's begin. Good morning. Right now it is 5.45 in the morning on Sunday. And I'm drinking my nettle infusion. I'm feeling tired. Not sure what the day is gonna look like because it's still dark outside. So we've got a bright and early start to the day. Um I thought I would do a little introduction episode so that you guys can get to know me and my intentions or you know what inspired this podcast. So once again, I'm Nicole Oluadidapo, formerly Nicole Kennedy. Formerly. Um so for anyone listening that knows me in real life, yes, I did elope. We can talk more about that another time. And me, I'm a neurodivergent creative. I write, I like to make visual art, and I love to speculate on wellness, what keeps us well, and what could make a better, healthier world. Um I have done some work in social impact, which I really love. I like the idea that everyone could be taken care of in this world, and that right now the I don't have the word right now, but the there's a word for it. The hoarding of resources is by choice, is where I'm going with that. And uh yeah, I like to envision a more well and healthier world, which includes sharing with everyone. As cheesy as it sounds, I think that that is a great solution. So um yeah, I'm I'm of the belief that what keeps us well is a good place to start. Good place to start in making change because then we can have endurance and stamina to make sustainable changes in the greater world. So yeah, keeping ourselves well is important, and if we're not well, we can't really make a big impact. We have to start with our own lives. So this podcast was inspired by a desire to share my own voice, my own ideas, my personal insights, maybe some wisdom. We'll see about that. So once I get my ideas out there, maybe I get to meet some cool people anywhere in the world that share similar views, or yeah, I think that that part would be really cool. That's probably the part that I'm most excited about. And yeah, maybe I'll start with a little bit of a story on um neurodivergence and structure and discipline, because sometimes being neurodivergent, I feel like we are told that um we're prescribed this idea of goals and how we can achieve them. And sometimes I feel like neurodivergence just feels like we have a different instruction manual, that um those uh tactics don't really work sometimes, and so yeah, I feel like um my own experience is that neurodivergence we need joy, and I learned this because about a year ago, just over a year ago, I committed to going on daily walks, daily-ish walks in the morning, first thing. So I was getting out into nature, and I was in awe, I was like mesmerized by the beauty that surrounded me. In nature, something that I love, and getting physical activity, and I would go for about 45 minutes every day, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on the weather and everything. Um, but I discovered that I could do all the mundane and boring things that I had been putting off when I made time and made a commitment and made routine out of joyful activities. And so daily nature walks helped me get out of a rut. I had like a seriously cluttered house. I had previously to the daily walks, I had I was committed, I was gonna declutter the house. I got a huge burst of energy. I tore apart the closets, I took everything out of the closets, everything out of the dressers, and I ran out of steam. So I was like living amongst clutter all over the house. My husband had to live among my mess too that I made by deciding I was gonna declutter and then losing steam. And so these daily walks, I came I went out, I took my walk, I came in, and I had energy. I had energy, I had motivation, and I would just like do little bit by little bit each day. And so I feel like for no neurodivergence, making joy part of your routine or the most important part of your routine, depending on your neuro neurodivergence, and maybe this goes for everyone, but making joy part of that routine is so worth it. Um, so yeah, you guys should try it and let me know how that goes. Um yeah, and so I was like, I also I mean, it's not like I just ran out of steam. I also they found like 32 cysts on my ovaries, and I was not well, so that's also part of it. They're all gone now, thank God. But yeah, that was like that was definitely part of it, and so to just say I ran out of steam and that I wasn't like bedridden for months on end is an understatement, so I think that's it for today. I think we've had a good episode, and so once again, this is Grows and Roses Podcast, and thank you for joining. And I hope you have a beautiful rest of your day.
