Speaking of which, speaking of going to you already know what we're gonna get into right now. This is the only time you're the only guest that I'm gonna have a sit-down with, bro. Sit down, yes, sir. A real sit-down. Yeah, a sit-down. And uh, you know where that comes from, X? Uh, the mob mobsters. They say we we gotta we gotta have a sit down. We have a time. Me and this dude, man, we're into um the mob, like uh mob history. Mob history, just uh just period. What did you think of that last one? Which one? I was talking about uh Joey Gallo and and the way that he was like uh trying to put on that hit that hit on somebody. Oh we're talking about the new Netflix, yeah, yeah. What was it called?
SPEAKER_02Uh The Five Families? The Five Families, that's what it was called. I told you, dude. I uh I saw that, and you know, sometimes I see some of those and I'm like, is it gonna be like how good is it gonna be, right? It's a perfectly accurate, but also like entertaining. But I told you that old man that's on there, Selvin, Selvin Rab, he's like a Jewish dude, like author. Don't you have one of his books or something? Yeah, the five families. It's like this big, giant book, dude, but he's like a mob, you know, encyclopedia. And I was like, I saw him on there, and I was like, okay, yeah, it's gonna be.
SPEAKER_00You know who it's crazy, who they starting to have a lot in the mob movies. Um, that uh that detective, he's like an agent. He he's the one who comes out in Goodfellas. Remember, he's like, don't give me the baby in the care, the baby in the woods routine, Karen. We have you on tape talking about uh talking about cocaine and talking about you know you know that guy's really the guy who took down Henry Hill, right? No, I didn't know that. He's the real he's the real FBI agent.
SPEAKER_02Really? Yeah, in the movie in Goodfellas. In Goodfellas. He said FBI agent, and I was thinking um uh Donnie Brasco. Joe Pistone.
SPEAKER_00Joe Pastone, yeah. Oh, so bona fide badass, dude. So yeah, you telling me the Joe Pastone story or or started getting me into it because I don't know, man.
SPEAKER_02I I know you're gonna take away my mob card, but I'm not a that's not your big that I know you've told me that's not one of your main or your favorite ones.
SPEAKER_00I'm not a I'm not too big of a Pacino fan, bro. Dude, that's your boy of that movie.
SPEAKER_02No, I mean he's not my boy, but you know, remember when I told you like Devil's Advocate, you hadn't seen that movie, and I was like, dude, how have you not seen Devil's Advocate?
SPEAKER_00That's your that's your movie, right? Xavier loves that advocate.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, dude, just wait, wait till the end, dude. Like, keep riding the wave, you know? Yeah, for sure. But yeah, I really like that movie.
SPEAKER_00You know what I love him though, in um it's my favorite role of his um any given Sunday.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's a great movie.
SPEAKER_00When he's a football coach, yeah. I think I think he does awesome, bro.
SPEAKER_02That's that's one of those movies I think I was watching uh an interview uh with somebody, and they were saying, like, what do you put that movie, what category do you put it in? Which one? Any given Sunday? Is it like a sports flick? I mean, is it like because I feel like the the I guess the what they talk about, I mean, the the subject matter can be applied to so many walks of life, like so many different things. It could be like it's not just about football, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00It could be like um like a rise to rise to fame type of thing, and then it could also be like, dude, in that movie too, like Willie Beaman, he almost like fumbles the bag because he's getting too like arrogant and too cocky in the movie, which is really dope. Yeah, uh Jamie Foxx does badass in that way. Did you hear him and Llo like really got in a fight or some shit? Him and LOK. Really? Yeah, you didn't hear about that? No, on set or what? Jamie Foxx talks about it on his stand-up, and he's like, This, this, he's like, this motherfucker's too like serious and shit. Yeah, he goes, L LOK is like, come on, we got a game. He's like, Dog, I'm an actor, bro. Like, and they get into it or something, and then they they know punches them in the face or something. Yeah, it's like this famous story, you should see it. Okay, so uh give me your I'm gonna put you on the hot seat right here. In no particular order, top five gangster movies. Top five?
SPEAKER_02Gangster movies. That's hard. My my number one, my I think my number one's pretty easy. I think it I think it's both of our number ones, but I'm gonna throw you a curveball. Go ahead. You think you think we're gonna have the same number one? Yeah, definitely. I feel like okay. So so I mean, I'd have to think about the rest of the list, but uh number one to me, my my all-time favorite. Or no, no particular order. You could just or top five. I don't have to be a lot of people. Yeah, yeah, just rattle them off. Okay, rattle them off.
SPEAKER_00That's that's that's always easier. But if you have a number one, what's that? Godfather too. Damn, for real? Yeah, uh, if I'm not mistaken, that's when uh Robert De Niro um you tell his backstory. He becomes the head of the family in that one, right?
SPEAKER_02Right. So that's the one where he's a kid, they they kind of go back and forth, they flash forward, flash back. Ah, and so remember he's a kid. His dad is mobbed up over there in Sicily, and his dad gets killed. And they go to the old man's house, he's like the boss over there, the boss's house. Shows up with his mom, he's a little kid, and the boss is like, Well, I need to kill you. And the mom's like, What do you mean he's a kid? Leave him alone, like I beg of you, whatever. Wow, he says, How do I know he's not gonna come back in 30 years and kill me? And so I love that, dude. The the backstory for uh Vito Corleone, Corleone, yeah, and then at the minute, like when that's going on, uh, you know, um, that's when uh Pacino, his character, he's now like kind of like stuck. Like he's like, dude, I wanted to be a lawyer, but now I was born into this, and I've got to, you know, this is my seat now. I gotta take over, right? Yeah. Sort of thing.
SPEAKER_00You know what I thought you were gonna say? Good fellas, bro. Goodfellas, y'all. Yeah, man. For me, that one's number one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know, I mean it's hard. I love, I love that. That is probably if I had to rank them, that would probably be my number two. Wow. Um, I know you like, I know you like, you've told me before, you like the more modern, like, like correct, right? So you get into the 80s and it gets a little, you know, you don't really like that era of movies. And I get it, like certain aspects of it are a little cheesier.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but when we're talking about, we're talking about like the uh the sound, like uh no, like the the soundtracks, like of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kind of crazy, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so yeah, good fellows would be easily, you know, second. Um what else? I'm still going with that. Five.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I got I I'll tell you another one you got in there. Uh Bronxtail, right? You like a Bronxta? Bronxtail's nice. Yeah, I like Bronxtail. X, what's your number one? I know he wants to jump in there. Jump in there, X. Don't be don't be don't be shy. No, I'd say Goodfellas. I know exactly one for Xavier, too.
SPEAKER_01Um I mean, does it have to be Italian?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Ah, that's that was my curveball. Yeah, he got me.
SPEAKER_00He got me. Blood and blood out. Blood and blood out, bro. Oh, yeah. I think that would probably be number one for me, for sure.
SPEAKER_02So you're going, you're going to uh gangster movies as a whole, not necessarily mob movies. Sure, sure. Yeah, I can't. Okay. I love blood and blood out too. That's a good one.
SPEAKER_00Dude, I'll never forget. Remember when you got off faded? Uh, we went to go see um Black Mass. Remember? Oh, yeah. Dude, what a handy ass movie, right?
SPEAKER_01Me and this dude are just like, we're like, damn, dude, like Johnny Depp does amazing in that movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was I think that movie, like, I don't, I don't think, I mean, I don't know why it got it got okay reviews. A lot of people didn't like it. Really? I thought, dude, I thought Johnny Depp killed that role. He seems like a total psycho in that movie, bro. It's crazy. Yeah, dude. That would be that would be the Irish mobster, the Irish mob side of things.
SPEAKER_00I like, I like Irish over there. Yeah. Um, which oh, what did you think of um The Irishman?
SPEAKER_02The Irishman? Yeah. So I haven't seen that one yet. What? I have not. Okay, well, so I'll be honest with that. I have not I've not seen that one for no particular reason. I just haven't I haven't sat down to watch it.
SPEAKER_00So I thought, man, it was gonna be like an accumulation, obviously. It was like one last go-around of Scorsese, you know, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci. Doesn't that sound like but it's it's pretty cool, man. They're just a little bit dated, like they're just older now. You know what I'm saying? It's just it doesn't give the same vibe off of dude, we didn't even mention it, casino man. Shh, you know, so that would be on my list too. That'd be fine. That's on your top five, right?
SPEAKER_02X I think it's all of our universal top five easy. I just I just like the way De Niro dresses in that movie, man. I tell my wife, like, next time we go to Vegas, I want to take like a suit like that. Just go around.
SPEAKER_00You get up and you don't have your pants on. You remember? Like, I what is he like keeping the crease in his pants?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. He's in his office, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00His like shoes match it's pants. Yeah, dude. Gotta keep it clean. He's got like a baby blue suit and baby blue pants uh shoes. Damn, man. That's that's all business. Yeah, that's pimp right there. Um, it's funny, man, because I was I was watching something and they were like, hey, if you really want to get they said you really want to get technical about it, they're like, Ace Rostin, that character is the biggest simp of all time. They're like, it's funny too because um that that that uh that part came on, you know when you just get random movie clips that come in your feed? Yeah, and it came on where he's like, this is strictly in my my shakedown cash and whatever. And he's like, Because mobsters and and and and uh cricket cops, he goes, they don't take checks. So it shows him putting that two million bucks inside that that safety deposit box, and then he gives her the key or whatever, right? And then that banker, Xavier's like, Xavier's off. So then that banker's like, Sam, he's like, You must really trust your wife, huh? And he just saw like, yeah, of course I do. Why? And he just saw like, oh, it's just unusual, you know what I'm saying? It's just like obviously Sharon Stone later on is like because whatever she is, or whatever it is. Uh I remember this dude was reviewing, you were reviewing the movies, the movies, and he was just all like, man, he's just all like Sam Rossi, dude, like he just did acting for that chick and this and that, man, and let her do this, this, and that. I'm just all like, man, that's yeah, it's it's funny.
SPEAKER_02That was that was before he learned in Heat, where he's like, when you you don't start a relationship that you can't walk away from in 10 seconds, dude.
SPEAKER_00So I love whenever there's the clash of like the two, like it's like uh he hasn't seen Heat, bro. Oh man, you gotta go home and do that.
SPEAKER_01Like, did you hear that they're making that that second one, right?
SPEAKER_00Are they really? I hear it's in the works, yeah. And I think Leo's in it, bro, and everything like that. Leo Nardo? Oh, really? Oh yeah, DiCaprio and stuff like that. I can dig that. He's like playing like the Val Kilmer part or something. Are they remaking it or it's gonna be a part two? I have no idea.
SPEAKER_02And that's what gets that's what get gets Kilmer in that movie, dude. The girls, oh yeah, remember that's all I'm like, man, but come on.
SPEAKER_00And hey, our boys in there too, right? Um Thre Hole? Yeah, There Hill's in there, yeah. That's crazy. Oh, and Homeboy too from uh Kill Bill. What's his name? Um man. Uh what you are you familiar with Kill Bill? Yes, remember when she gives him that that guy, bro? She gives him that that briefcase full of money. Yeah, and then and then the black mama's in there.
SPEAKER_02Oh, um that dude's in there, too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02How do I remember his name? Look it up. I am.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's oh, a pulp fiction, right? He's in a pulp fiction as well. Um dude, did me and you go see Gotti together? Yeah, we did, yeah, with the one with uh what's his name? Well, John Travolta.
SPEAKER_02John Travolta.
SPEAKER_00That wasn't that bad. Bro, me and you are on the same page when it comes to bro, this is how degenerate uh like mobster guys we are, right?
SPEAKER_02The only theater that was showing it. Yeah, we it was like over off of uh what is that one? The cinema ridge over there off of 410. Yeah, we were like, let's go to I've got what was it? Uh Texas Roadhouse. It was like the Texas Roadhouse or Saltgrass out there, and then we'll just go see the movie because I was the only one showing it. How bad could it be? Yeah, it was like a dollar, it was like a dollar movie. I thought it was good.
SPEAKER_00I didn't have a problem with it. It was it was all right, and everybody's like, oh man, it's John Gotti, right? So it's like bro, you cannot depict John Gotti, obviously, right? But um, and they're like, That's John Travolta, they're just two dynamically different people, right? So I guess I uh I guess I have to agree with that. But who does a good John Gotti is homeboy, man? What's his name? In uh the Gotti movie, which is um our boy's one of his favorite, Michael Francis. Yo, camera on me, real quick, X. Mr. Francis, if you could, man, if you could ever have a sit down with me and my boy, we are huge, huge fans of just putting it out there, just putting it out there in the universe. A complete honor to have a sit-down, Mr. Francis. Um, but yeah, so for everybody who doesn't know that, Michael Francis, he's a uh what uh he was a capo in the the not the banana family, right? The Gambino. Was it? Oh yeah, so the Gambino family. Awesome, dude. Go check out his content. Um, so anyway, remember oh, so uh Michael Francis says that that dude does a such a good job in Gotti, the 1996 one. Yeah, what's his name?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's me.
SPEAKER_00I'll tell you his name right now. Um but speaking of that guy, I like how this is kind of all tying in. Um Gotti movie 1996.
SPEAKER_02I haven't seen that movie in a long time. Armada Santi. Armando Santi, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, Armando Santi, he is um in um American Gangster. Yeah, that's a dude. I love that movie. I could put that one on whenever, right? I was watching a director's cut of that one, and they were talking about that you have Den Denzel, right? Obviously, he's Frank Lucas and he's just like this uh dynamic character. Then you have Richie Rollins, which is uh the uh detective that is after him, and the the movie, and this is like some Hollywood shit too, right? Those are two like Russell Crowe wouldn't get on a movie that he's not gonna have that much screen time, right? Obviously, nor Denzel, which rightfully so. You know what I'm saying? So half of the movie is both one, half of the movies the other, half of the movies one, half of the movies. They go back and forth, back and forth until they finally meet at the end, and it's when they're having that scene. I don't know if you remember where they're talking about negotiating like his his deal or whatever. And he's like, Is it true that you once uh he's just like that you once found a million dollars in cash, unmarked bills, and you turned it in? I don't know if you remember that part. And then he's like, Yeah, I turned it in, and this and that. And he's just like, My question is, would you do it again? Yeah, and he goes, and the only way that I would know that answer is to ask you, right? Would you do it again? So he offers him the million bucks right there to kind of let him go. Yeah, and and Rich is like, Nah, like that's not, that's not what he's doing, or whatever. And he's just all like, Well, it don't matter much to me. He's just all like, um, and he's like, I have people to testify you that'll go around the block, right? And he's like, Well, it doesn't matter to me for you to for the next day for you to get your head blown off, or he says something like that, right? And then uh Russell Crowe goes, Hey, get in line, because that line goes around the block too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I was just like, I never thought of it that way, though, with Russell Crowe, how it was pretty much like split. A Russell Crowe movie, yeah. Because exactly, you know, was it a Russell Crowe movie or was it a Denzel movie? It was very well made, dude.
SPEAKER_00That movie is that one's not that one's awesome.
SPEAKER_02I love the scene in the diner when he's having breakfast, and I forget the character's name, even the actor's name, where he comes down, comes in to shake him down. Like, where's my cut? Yeah, and he's like uh the old guy who his boss had just died. Bumpy, bumpy, right? Bumpy Johnson. So then uh he's like, Where's you know, where's my take? You know, and and he's that whole scene where he puts down the dollar. He's like the 20%. Yeah, where's my 20%, right? Yeah, yeah. Oh dude, that's yeah, classic.
SPEAKER_01Does this does blow?
SPEAKER_00Oh man.
SPEAKER_01Does does it like I mean? Does it count? Does it count?
SPEAKER_00That's a good one. Oh, yeah. I think it's all I think it's all within the same genre, and then okay, so then if you're gonna put those in, you're gonna have to put in Menace of Society and then uh New Jack City. Uh, dude, I've never seen New Jack City. Have you seen that? Yeah, it's been a while though. Uh I haven't seen New Jack City. Oh, you know what else, too? Um, who's Frank Wright? Who is that? He's a real he's a real person, right?
SPEAKER_02Yes. And he's a mobster, right? So I think he he grew up. I think he came up around the time that Frank Lucas did, like in in New York, wasn't it? Oh, he's black? I thought so. Oh, okay, my bad. I thought so.
SPEAKER_00If I'm not mistaken. Well, remember that story that um I believe, dude, I'm pretty sure it was um it was Sammy that says the most honorable guy that he ever killed was that guy that said, Um, make sure that you take my shoes off.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, right? Yeah. I remember see uh listening to that on his on his podcast. I'm not sure who that guy was. You think it was him? I'm pretty sure him here. Let me know Sonny Black? Yeah, it will it was Sonny Black? You let me know. Because he's the one that that got that brought Joe Pistone, right? Donnie Brasco into the life. Wait a minute. Are we mixing up stories? No, no, no. I'm positive about that one. Sonny Black uh story. So he's the one that got busted, or uh the one that took in. So it was like Lefty introduced him. So Lefty introduced Donnie Brasco, right? Joe Pastone to Sonny Black. Sonny Black took him in, right? And Sonny Black was a capo or yeah, wow, yeah, yeah, that's a no-no, right? So then not at odds with some other capo who was like, no, I want Donnie. No, Donnie's with us, Lefty and Sonny Black.
SPEAKER_00Um oh, which let me see. Dominic Sonny Black was uh Yeah. By his own family, which probably pulled out upstairs and shot and killed. Um was high-ranking Gambina family underboss later broke or Murta. I don't know why we're getting I'm getting that story mixed up. I might I might have I don't think it's Sonny Black, bro, who's getting killed like that. Yeah. This says take off my shoes. But anyway, um But I think uh Sammy the Bull says like that's the most honorable person that I've ever killed, or yeah, something crazy, like like along those lines. Like true gangster, like to the very last minute. Like some people just have that. Like, what is it, man? Like follow through. You know, you're like dude, just he's like that's he's a man of his word. A man of his word.
SPEAKER_02Like, dude, you know, you know what you're getting into, right? So so you you you you know that's your your thing.
SPEAKER_00Yes, sir. The Martha uh another one that Xavier just brought up, um, the Iceman. Yeah, Kaklinski. That one's badass, bro. My boy Ray Oda comes out of it.
SPEAKER_02Man, he just he cleans up in that movie. So Ray Liotta's like the one that takes him in, right? Because Ray Lioda's a bad dude too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I don't think that they say exactly who he is in that movie, right?
SPEAKER_02Do they use like a real name or what part of it or what family he's part of? No, I think they were just they were like associates. Hmm. So what was that? Friend of mine instead of a friend of ours. Friend of friend of ours. What do I say about you? You keep your mouth shut about me. That's why I love Donnie Brasco, where he's like telling him that, and then he's like, by the way, he's like, get yourself some real pants. He's got like fucking rodeo.
SPEAKER_00He's wearing jeans, he's got like fucking jeans at the time.
SPEAKER_02Because he's telling him how to act because he's about to introduce him. Yeah, take off that mustache.
SPEAKER_00He needs to see it, bro. He's never seen it. Yeah, you didn't seen Donnie Brasco, right? Oh my god, bro. You gotta see it, man. Yeah, uh, I'll tell you what's a good mob movie. Ready for this one? Analyze this, bro. It's good. Have you ever seen it? Yes. Oh man, it's awesome, bro. And it's cool too, because they put in like obviously it's satire, right? But they put in that mob element of like, you can't be talking to a shrink. You know what I'm saying? Like that's what they're all about, or whatever. Oh, just like our boy, man. I keep on trying to get him into it. Um, uh, the Sopranos, man. Oh man, dude. So it's like it's crazy too, because it's like the whole genre, right? And then the Sopranos, it's like its own entity. Yeah, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02I always like, dude, when I watched that, I watched it way late. It was kind of like breaking bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's not like two years ago, right?
SPEAKER_02So I'm like, how did I not watch this when it came out? Seriously, you know, um, it's a time investment, it's long for sure, but it's worth it. Once you start watching it, it's done, dude.
SPEAKER_00It's like I like just the nuances that they have. Remember that that part where um what's his name, bro? Um, Jackie, uh uh Jackie, his brother. What's his name? Yeah, I don't remember his name. That that uh that psycho-looking dude, right? He ends up getting with Tony's sister or whatever. Yeah, but remember that time where they're outside of the coffee shop uh-huh and then uh uh Imperioli comes over. Yeah, and he comes over and like sets him straight. Yeah, I showed Xavier that part, yeah, and he's just all like, you put your hands on my niece again, or whatever. Yeah, like next time you ain't gonna see my face. Yeah. And he's just like, he goes, Who told you I put my hands on her? He's like, This kid getting jerky with me. I was just all like, damn, that's exactly how I think it would go. Yeah, and then uh Gandalfini goes like and then he and then he's like, I want to talk to Tony. He's like, he's like, get out of here. Yeah, and he goes, and he goes, he's a good kid. He's a good kid, yeah. I was just like, man, I showed Xavier like just those little parts, right? It's like awesome, bro. And then Gandalfini's like, yeah, the man himself. Oh, dude, how about this one? Um, we try and get into it, but we can't because we're such fans. I'm a fan of uh James Gandalf so much and and Brad Pitt, but uh shoot uh shooter, what is it? Shooter, uh what is it, X? What the one that has like all the patriotism in the background and all that weird shit, and they knock off that casino that that uh card game in the beginning? Oceans twelve, Oceans eleven uh something silent or something like that.
SPEAKER_01Killing them softly. Killing them softly, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Brad Pitt with the with the shoddy outside. What year did that come out? It's a weird movie, right? Yeah, I don't know. What year did that come out? Maybe like 2013? I don't think I've seen that. Oh bro. I don't think I've seen it so it's got James Gandalfini in it and Brad Pitt.
SPEAKER_02And they're they robbed a bookie, or I I forgot what there was another Gandalfini movie out there that I saw. I have it on my watch list on Amazon. Um I don't know. It had some other big names in it, but I it was kind of, I guess, like a is it like Brooklyn's finest or something like that? Did you ever see that? I think that's what it's called.
