Anything and everything podcast with your boy Matt Reyna. I gave up on um counting the episodes, man, because I got them all mixed up. But anyway, I got a very, very special guest, owner and one of my oldest friends, one of the originals of the BK crew. Oh, you like that, right? You like that. Owner of that. Yeah. Owner of Finish Line Coffee, which he was gracious enough to bring me one. Man, it's uh it's great stuff. My boy, my longtime friend, one of my best friends. How you doing, my friend?
SPEAKER_00It's been a while.
SPEAKER_01Bro, I was it uh been a while. It was the used, right? It must have been the used that we went to go. And that was that was a random day, dude. Uh Vibes, yeah. Well, vibes, rock box, you know. Yeah, dude, they put on a set too, dude. That was a good show.
SPEAKER_00I really wish they would do more, but shit. Prices nowadays, I probably wouldn't pay for pay it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so yeah, I mean, so okay, like uh I know people have those best friends of theirs that they haven't spoken to in like forever, but we stay in contact with each other just like like if time hasn't passed, right? But we just send stupid shit to each other. That's pretty much what it is.
SPEAKER_00That's that's uh that's if that's not what friendship is, I don't want it. You know what I'm saying? If that's not what the internet's for. If you ain't gonna talk shit to me and you hadn't said something in six months, don't fucking talk to me, bro. Send me some dumb shit. I'm cool with that. Um other people message you and they contact you and it's like, okay, bro, but what else? You know what I mean? Like right? I mean, just asking questions, like, bro, come on, fucking like knock off. Like, knock off at least.
SPEAKER_01Oh, dude. Well, so it's funny too, because uh my one of my friends just messaged me right now and I hadn't talked to him in a long time. And he was like, Hey man, how's it going? This and that. I was just all like, I go, what do you want? What the?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, see.
SPEAKER_01I'm just like, come on, man, break break break the ice. I'm still mad. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00Like, knock just knock off a little bit, bro. Because we know you're gonna have something. Hey, show me that you're not a narc, bro. Yeah, that's I'm like, I'm uh who sent you? Especially now, bro. Especially nowadays, you can't say shit online. They'll fucking come for you, try to cancel you.
SPEAKER_01Hey man, so okay, so we're gonna get into uh the way that you started your company. You've had this company for about six months now, right?
SPEAKER_00Six months. I've been working at it for like a year and a half, two years.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so we're gonna go there, but rewind all the way back originally from what side of town? Like if I don't know, right? No, but it's yourself uh to the masses, bro. To the to my 200 followers, bro.
SPEAKER_00So 200, that's a lot, dude. You think so? Some people barely have 10. Let's put it that way. Let's put it that way. If some people have 20,000, but that's not the point. That's not the point. 200 is 200. Dude, Mark, he he's got 60,000. Dang, that's a lot. Yeah, that's pretty gnarly.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, you gotta start somewhere. For sure, for sure. So, um, well, obviously, we grew up together, man, on the south side of San Antonio. Your mom's still over there, by palato? Yeah, by palato. Gotcha, cool. You explain, you explain to our viewers, man, what the south side was like when we were kids.
SPEAKER_00Man, it was tight. The south side was cool. I think uh I think people don't appreciate how much like nature there was back then. It was just like a bunch of trees, a bunch of shit. You go into the monte growing up and you could fucking find fire ants, everything. Bro, people don't even know what that word means, monte. No, they don't know. So you know that you don't know now, is you all you know what a dealership is, though, because they're fucking all there. No hate against them. I know we got some car salesmen probably watching this.
SPEAKER_01Right? Yeah, well, they gotta they gotta eat, right? They're like, what do you got against dealerships, homie? No, but remember my mom's street. Um, what is it, X Orlarkia that's on the side?
SPEAKER_00Patron. No, I don't remember any of the streets.
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_01You don't remember? Yeah, so it's it's Patron, uh Big John, Us, uh Tortuga over there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah. I remember I vaguely remember you're taking that.
SPEAKER_01The side street, the one that Jen lived on. So uh anyway, so that was a side street behind there. That was our monte. So now there's there's nothing but houses back there now. The KBs ended up being built back there, I think. Or they extended into the KBs or something like that. But yeah, man. So uh what you didn't go to elementary with me, right? Where'd you go? Palo Alto or what? Palo Alto, yeah. Oh, okay, cool. I went to Palo Alto. Palo Alto's fun. For real?
SPEAKER_00Pretty cool, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I know, so then we uh obviously met in Kaizen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So um it was basketball, right? You're playing basketball.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I I remember uh yeah, we were all playing for the team. Man, shit, what? Me, you, John, Marcus, Alfie, uh, Sam. As a matter of fact, we win the championship.
SPEAKER_00We did, right? Probably, we probably did. We need to see it. I I'd only been playing basketball for like a year. Uh put that mic closer to you. Yeah, I'd only been playing basketball for like a year. Somehow made the A team. I don't fucking know. Well, so that works.
SPEAKER_01Well, I remember it was just that we were all friends. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But dude, what was badass is that um a lot of people, a lot of my friends, man, they're not metal. You know, and I tell I tell people, and that's how I mean you got yeah, that's how I mean you got way closer because dude, we'd always go to the shows together, we'd always go to the rabbit, especially uh during high school. And that's how, dude, I remember you were skating, man. And I've always loved skateboarding for you. You gotta try it. Like everyone, no, no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00Everyone's gotta try that. Well, no, no, not at this age. Not at this age. If you're 30, 40 trying to get into cycling, you better, you better chill the fuck out. Yeah, you better sit your ass down. Yeah, uh, it is it dude, you'll mess some shit up for sure. Bro, have you seen Bam now? He's just all yeah, but he was a shithead to begin with, though. He was an asshole, he was a little asshole. Bam Marger, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Drug addict.
SPEAKER_01Like, we all know that. Like, what what do you no? But my thing is, bro, like, isn't it crazy, man? So, like the the skaters that we used to um see back in the day, and that was our era as well. Like the the people the people that we would look up to, like the way that they look now and the condition they're now. I'm just like, damn, dog, it's worse.
SPEAKER_00Roddy Mullen's not doing bad. Roddy Mullen's still. Ardo Sari's not doing bad. Uh Jeff Raleigh ain't doing bad. Uh Chad Muska. Chad Chad's Chad's Chad. Maybe doing a little bad.
SPEAKER_01What's it called? Uh, dude, who's that guy, man, who just did El Toro? Oh.
SPEAKER_00He tray flipped it. Well, he did it once and he tapped. Or hit the board broke or something like that. I think he jumped off, no? He belled out?
SPEAKER_01He landed, but he didn't land it. He he kind of gave like a little like Yeah, something weird. The board went under him or something, and then he he just kind of I remember I remember seeing that story.
SPEAKER_00I was like, dang, no one's no one's done that in like forever, right?
SPEAKER_01What's the gnarliest trick, do you think? Oh, so anyway, we get into your high school years and now you're skating. And now you're into metal.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Skating and metal for whatever reason just goes together.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, what oh yeah, I guess so. Well, it's funny too, man, because like uh, you uh BB, George, me, like I remember we were all like friends, or like not all the tightest, but we all had like our our connections or whatever. But that was our common denominator, the metal scene. Oh yeah, well, y'all were into skating. I was I was all like I was all basketball.
SPEAKER_00I remember jamming like what what was it like It Dies Today, Atreyu, like stuff like stuff I still listen to, like Silverstein and all that stuff, and then Upon and Burning, oh a Pond and Burning Body was going off like during high school, I think, or something like that, middle school, high school. Oh yeah, it's going off and then Breaming the Horizon 2, the first album. Underwheat the first album, Changing of Times. Bro, man.
SPEAKER_01I was getting my hair cut today from TJ. You know my boy TJ, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. And we were talking about it. He was just like, Oh, Josh. He goes, Dog, he was telling me that he was gonna start his company. I was like, When's he telling you this? I was like, I didn't even know them two talked. I was just like, What? He goes, I was cutting his hair.
SPEAKER_00I was like, Yeah, where was I? He said it was a couple of years back though. I remember it was off of it was off 4'10. Ingram? Yeah, it was off Ingram at 4'10. I was like, dude, I need someone that can cut hair. And I was like, so I'd look up the homies, right? And I'm like, oh, he's cutting hair. I forgot he's still cutting hair. Yeah, for sure. Like, all right, I gotta go back to him. So I went there, and then I was like going to all the homies, getting my hair cut by him, you know, like uh Derek and them. Oh yeah. And then Leo. Oh yeah, yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_01I haven't seen him in a video.
SPEAKER_00It was like, it was there, it was like I would try to go where it to everybody, you know what I mean? But it's like then again, I don't like getting my hair cut. Like, this is probably the shortest it's been in like a minute. So it's like, eh.
SPEAKER_01Well, I remember we used to kick it at your mom's, bro. We used to play guitar, and then uh, dude, this dude was the man at Call of Duty, bro. The man. I was just like, dude. Okay, so X, remember when you used to watch me play NBA Street? I used to watch him play Call of Duty. I just like just be there checking it out, like, damn. Which one was it? Modern Warfare 2?
SPEAKER_00Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and Black Ops also.
SPEAKER_01Bro, I and then Gears.
SPEAKER_00I remember Gears Award was fucking crazy, bro.
SPEAKER_01Whenever it was like the epitome of like, dude, it was like it was crazy.
SPEAKER_00So when that when I got so when that gate came out, didn't we pre-order it? Or was that called that was Modern Warfare 2? We pre-ordered it, we bought it, went home, we played online that night. I remember that we went to GameStop and everything. That shit was tight.
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah. We no, uh, we we did the um the midnight launch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01That was it was Call of Duty, man, and we went there at midnight back in the day when it was badass. Is it Sun Eater?
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Sun Eater. One of them Sun Eater. Sun Eater was like Xbox Later. What's what's Sun Eater? That was your gamertag? Yeah, that one, and then it was like the early one was like PCP6. Oh yeah. Crazy. Dude, you remember that? I don't do drugs. I didn't do drugs, but I was like, it was like it was more of a like uh at the time, what did I think? I was like, I don't know. I don't I thought it was fucking cool. I was like, okay, cool. I'm just gonna name myself that and then the people get killed by me, whatever.
SPEAKER_01Uh remember we had the the crew, the haters with the with the haters. Okay, so that was a short little one.
SPEAKER_00The only one that kept playing.
SPEAKER_01I'm the only one that can't play. Everyone stopped playing.
SPEAKER_00Everyone got jobs, and I was just there playing video games.
SPEAKER_01So X, that's why I was singing that. Well, right now, I was like, hater. That's the song that we were into at the time. It's uh Kanye and Jay, and we named our our crew. That was a good album, too. Yeah, the haters. Yeah, we were um so yeah, man. That was that was awesome, dude. Um, dude, uh man, I think we went to um oh no, no, no, no. I cannot quick Gears of War story.
SPEAKER_00Go for it, yeah. I pre-ordered that shit when it came out, right? I didn't go to school for three days because I was fucking playing it online. I was ranked, uh I was ranked. Get the fuck out of here. I was ranked top ten in the world for like fucking two days. No way, I was up there. Hey, most kills, high recruits. Nah, dude. Well, so when we would play, right? I would check my ranking, boom, after every game, okay, cool, cool. I'm still in the league, this and that. I was like, okay, I gotta go eat. I'm hungry as shit. I've been playing for like probably eight hours straight. Come back, you sink more, and it's like, damn, how the fuck do these people still playing? Because I I started playing it when it came out and like just check the rankings, check the rankings, check the rankings after like all the games, and it's like second day goes by, I start sinking even more. And I'm like, dude, how the fuck are these guys like? How are you staying this so high? Like, this is weird, and then it's not what's up, they have people playing with them that are as good as them. Oh, sure. So, like, say if it's us three, I'll take a six-hour shift. Okay, cool, I'm done. Boom. You play, let me take a nap. On my gamer tag, yeah. Oh, wow. How else do you think people are getting crazy kills? Like, you can't be up for fucking three days straight. I was at meth. I was like, dude, because I was doing meth. And I wasn't even it wasn't working for me. I was doing PCP. What are they doing? What are these guys doing?
SPEAKER_01Bro, yeah, dude, it was such a different time back then, man. It was it was awesome. Um, I was gonna uh say something about uh one of the games that we were playing, but I I totally forgot. But yeah, dude, I remember you had Call of Duty fucking burned, and um then so um the one that we did the Midlight launch or whatever, which one was that one?
SPEAKER_00Dude, that one had Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
SPEAKER_01That's what it was? Oh, because you were on the original Modern Warfare, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because we were playing the original one, and then like that was so much fun.
SPEAKER_01So the Modern Warfare 2 was so badass too because it had like payback and all that stuff, like where the money would fly out of you, and all of that stuff.
SPEAKER_00That's cool. They'd do the emblems and all that stuff, and you you wouldn't get banned back then for the stuff you put on. That's why they took it away. No shit. People were putting some crazy shit on you know the one where you could draw, you could draw on your emblem and you can make your tattoo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, people were what they're doing, like racist shit and stuff like that, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's anything you would believe. Xbox, you know that meme, the little meme where it's like a video like on Instagram, and like you wouldn't survive back in like Xbox lobby days, and it's everyone yelling into the mic saying shit. Have you seen that one? You haven't seen that one? Have you seen it? Like, that's real though. That that's how it really was.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what uh that's what gave us our armor back in the day, dude.
SPEAKER_00People were vicious, too, bro.
SPEAKER_01And that's just how it was, right? Like, I I mean, I don't know how it is now. Xavier, he's on the sticks now, but not I haven't played anything in a long time.
SPEAKER_00Me neither. The only thing I played uh with June, she plays Fortnite. No way. So me and her just jump on it for knock off. We pretty much knock off and just like kill anybody we can. And it's it's fun. It's like fun. It's like a I don't know, it's a different thing.
SPEAKER_01Well, speaking of the uh of people being on there for hours at a time, from what I hear and what Xavier's telling me is when uh GTA 6 drops, dude. I'm not gonna play, but I know people are gonna play.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm gonna play it. I don't want to get sucked into it.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to be there, bro. Yeah, no, duh, we gotta pay our allegiance to Grand Theft Auto. So Vice City was playing mine, okay. Okay, so that was easy to Vice City was mine, but uh San Andreas, I don't know, for some reason I just didn't get into it. But um, yeah, Vice City was was all me. And I was crazy.
SPEAKER_00I just remember logging in online one time and just getting smoked. Like people just then they find you and then they come back and they kill you again. And it's like, bro, what? Like why is that?
SPEAKER_01Well, supposedly the the bots, oh what do you call them now? Ex bots or the the NPCs or whatever throughout the game, they're gonna have memory and stuff like that. So like if you jack yeah, so if you jacked them, you know, back in the day or like a couple of days ago, hey, there's that fucker right there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, get his ass. Yeah, yeah, what's it called? What if you smoke one and they become like a boss, bro? Like they actually have like an army or like a gang with them and then they they find you. Okay, that'd be funny.
SPEAKER_02I think there's gonna be things like that.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Supposedly like convenience store owners.
SPEAKER_00Well, they're gonna they're gonna have like their only little violence that you could actually like follow them and pick up their kids and whatever. I remember in the first ones, they would say some crazy shit, right? Like walking around the streets, like PlayStation when you play Grand Theft Auto. Oh, yeah. Or was the Grand Theft Auto? Yeah, Grand Theft Auto. Grand Theft Auto 3? That one was dope. Uh me and John. I still remember one. You remember one? No, man, I don't. Aerial view and a little dude get in the car and run. It's crazy because like the that was like one of the first games where you actually like were a person and not like some fictional person or fictional like freaking superhero or some shit. You were actually a person stealing cars and like shooting people and like running them over. And it was like it was different, it was just different, bro.
SPEAKER_01I think Rapted Auto 3, of course, you know, that's when it became like first, not first person, but what do you call that? What do you call that person? Open world or like third third person. But third person, like 3D, like to where you're like taking a look at the map or whatever. And um dude, that was just I remember we would play that a lot at John's, um, and dude, like he they would stay on that game for forever.
SPEAKER_02That's the thing though, man, about like games now is that like we we got to like transition, we got to see the transition of the technology going from top view to like green.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, that's what's that was cool because like it was everything was cool and fresh.
SPEAKER_01Everything was just like what was the first top view, like Zoda, I guess?
SPEAKER_00I never got into that before that. That was like uh if you want to go back, it's like Space Invaders, Atari like top view, because you were literally just like watch the little spaceship and just shoot.
SPEAKER_01And what was the first one that was kind of like third person? Well, GoldenEye man was dude, that was it.
SPEAKER_00That was the shit. I still play that like with my nephews and stuff. For real? Yeah, have you heard of the uh have you heard of the analog 3D? It's uh it's it's pretty much a Nintendo 64 just beefed up and it's like digital, so you can connect to any TV HDMI without having to have a converter or anything like that. I think I've seen it.
SPEAKER_01Like they have Star Fox and it looks all badass.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, well, you can play any game on it. Like you could you just put your N64 cart in it. Oh, and then you play that, but it's like has better frame rate, like the freaking graphics is a little better. Dude, it's tight.
SPEAKER_01Man, it's tight that's badass. Yeah, I remember when um Mario 64 came out, it was like, what like you're in Mario's world, you know, obviously, and it was just like 3D or whatever. Dude, I cannot have this podcast with it.
SPEAKER_00Be about video games, or be about nothing but video games.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, because we can do it. No, I cannot have it, dude, without mentioning. Remember that one time, me, you and Zach, we went to um where do we go? We get to Corpus to go see um Oh, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00They broke my camera. I still remember because I wanted to take pictures. I was like, fuck, I wanna and so someone broke my camera. I was like, I don't know who broke it. Something happened. I was like, man, I was like, I wanted to take photos of them, dude. How old were we, dude? Were we in my car? We were in my beamer right. Yeah, I tell you. We were in the beamer, we were just like on a whim. We just knew was out there, we're like, okay, well, that's fucking let's go. Okay, go down there, it's packed super hot.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no. Remember before that, you remember? And so we needed to no no, we need to take a piss, right? Remember, and we we go and we found that tractor. I remember that.
SPEAKER_00I saw the photos from that.
SPEAKER_01That just dumb, bro. So we find this tractor, dude, and you know this story's true because we're like, oh, it's the bro, we're we're drinking all the way over there, all the way over there, bro.
SPEAKER_00Four local bro, the original four locos, the one that actually like fucking kills your brain cells.
SPEAKER_01Doug, like I don't know what the hell I was thinking at that age. What were we 19, 20? Maybe had to have been had to have been 2021 for sure. You think so? Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_00Had to have been maybe 22, maybe.
SPEAKER_01I was at I was at Gold's, I remember. So anyway, uh to have been something like that. So Doug, and we're just like trying to get faded on the way over there, you know what I'm saying? Like stuff I'd never do right now. And uh we need we need to take a piss and we go and then we find a tract.
SPEAKER_00We're just there, it's just there, like a big old tractor, like it's not even a little one, it's a big old tractor. You could like you could really hurt yourself like getting on top of it.
SPEAKER_01So, bro, and we're just like, yeah, we're just like climbing on top of it, dude, like getting on the top of it or whatever. Marissa was with us, right? Yeah, yeah. And and um, I'm like, take a picture of us, dude. And we we take a picture, I'm on top of it, Zach's like on top of it too, and and the wheel, bro, the wheel is like it's big, it's like as big as like all the way up like this. And um, I didn't know, like she just she just takes a picture of us in the night, like, and it's just like like like that, right? So I didn't see the picture, and we're all I'm like on it, and Zach's on it, and Zach's oh yeah, he's like he's like that on the on the wheel, dude. It's such an epic picture, bro. It was that was badass.
SPEAKER_00I forgot, I forgot about that. I remember Boggus Wrench read, but I forgot. I was like, but now that you're saying it, I was like, dude, that was fun. Oh bro, dude, we had a blast if the keys were in there, dude!
SPEAKER_02Yeah, imagine if the keys were in there, dude.
SPEAKER_01What what shitheads, right? Just to see a tractor be like, ooh, it's on, you know what I'm saying? Fucking idiots, bro.
SPEAKER_00And you see something really cool, like we probably played with tractors when we were growing up, and then when we saw that we're like, oh didn't the alarm go off on one of them or something like that?
SPEAKER_01Because we were trying to like mess with it and turn it on. I don't know. But um, so then yeah, we get to August Burns Red too, and man, I remember I was crowd surfing and I got to seeing a little bit with Jake, and I just threw myself boom in in the in the I never crowdsurfed. What? Never come on, then you've never lived.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I've lived plenty, my friend. But crowd surfing, I've never done it.
SPEAKER_01Oh man, one of my more epic ones with with me and my boy T and um um Asile Dying Forever. Okay, forever, and that's the crowdsurfing song, right? So I'm like, oh dude, I'm like, lift me up, lift me up. And I went up there, dude, and I uh I sang with what's his name? Um with Tim Lambises. That was uh that was a highlight of my life. So I was just like, yeah, go ahead, kill me now. I'm I'm good.
SPEAKER_00We're done. Yeah, that's it. That's our rap, buddies.
