Deep in the woods, where the lanterns glow along quiet paths, there's a small place called Lantern Hollow, and that's where our story begins. A series of fun stories for kids that spark the imagination, inspire resilience, and remind us of the good things that matter most. These are stories I first told to my own kids, and now I'm telling them to you. Tonight's story is about a duck named Woozy Duck and her new friend baby Quackquack. One day, a little duck and her family were taking a walk around the duck pond when they came across a small baby turtle sitting in the grass all by himself. The turtle looked sad, right? And he looked kind of alone. Well, Woozy Duck, the smallest of the duck family, noticed this poor baby turtle sitting all by himself. So she walked over to the turtle. Quack quack. What are you doing all by yourself? The little turtle looked at her with big sad eyes. I I can't find my family. Woozy Duck looked at him. What do you mean you can't find your family? Where did they go? And the little turtle said, That's what I mean. I don't know where they went. They were here, but now they're gone. And said, You look weird for a duck. The baby turtle looked at her and said, I don't think I'm a duck. But I don't honestly know. Woozy Duck looked at him and said, You're definitely a duck. I'm gonna call you baby quackwack. Come with me. So Woozy Duck took Baby Quackwack with her to follow her family back to their home. When they got to their home, Woozy Duck took Baby Quackwack to her room. You can stay with me, she said. Baby Quackwack, otherwise known as Miles the Turtle. He was just a little baby turtle, and he didn't know what to think. He missed his family and he was a little bit scared because he'd never been with a family of ducks before. But Woozy Duck seemed very nice, and she was excited to have him. So Baby Quackwack slowly pulled his head out of his shell and he looked around his new room. It actually looked pretty nice. You can sleep right here, said Woozy Duck, patting the ground next to her. We can share my room. Baby Quackquack slowly started to pull out his little arms and his little feet from his shell, beginning to feel more safe and more comfortable. Woozy Duck said, That's right, baby Quackquack, good job. We will be best friends, I know it. Baby Quackquack waddled over. He snuggled up next to Woozy Duck, and they went to sleep. The next morning, Woozy Duck was wide awake, as she always was. Woozy Duck knocked on Baby Quackquack's shell. Baby Quackquack, time to wake up. Baby Quackwack pushed his little head out of his shell nice and slow. Oh man, I was tired. What time is it? Woozy Duck said, How would I know? I'm a duck. Anyways, let's go get something to eat. So Woozy Duck led Baby Quackwack into the family kitchen. And they were having some delicious pieces of bread for breakfast. So yummy. Woozy Duck's favorite. Then, after breakfast, Woozy Duck took Baby Quackwack to meet all of her friends. Hey guys, I want you to meet my new friend Baby Quackwack. The oldest duck, named Hattie, looked around and said, um, Woozy Duck? I don't think baby quackwack is a duck. What do you mean? said Woozy Duck. Of course he is. His name is Baby Quackwack. Hattie Duck looked at her and laughed. Well, whatever you say. Then Dylan Duck looked and said, He is so cute. I love baby quackwack. And then Ivy Duck, her older sister, said, He is just the sweetest little duck. Can I hold him? Woozy Duck looked at Ivy Duck and said, Absolutely not. He's my best friend. So Woozy Duck introduced Baby Quackwack to everyone and their entire duck village. The more that Baby Quackwack met the other ducks, the more he thought maybe he isn't a duck. But his new best friend Woozy Duck was so sure that he just didn't know. So he went along with it. Later that day, someone came up to say hi to Baby Quackwack. And he was surprised when they asked him a question, and the first sound out of his mouth was quack, quack. He thought to himself, How did that happen? And then he looked over at Woozy Duck. She had a big smile on her duck face. Good job, baby quackwack. I knew you could do it. Well, Baby Quackquack was starting to feel right at home. He was so thankful that Woozy Duck had seen fit to take him home with her. Make sure he had food to eat and give him a place to sleep. After all, he was just a tiny baby turtle, all alone, with nowhere to go. And Woozy Duck came to his rescue. The truth is, Woozy Duck had the biggest heart of any of the other ducks. She loved welcoming people into her home and into her family and into her heart. Because Woozy Duck didn't care if he was a turtle or a fish or a rat or a swan. All she cared about was his heart and whether or not he was nice and fun and kind. You see, Woozy Duck doesn't care what the other ducks look like. She doesn't even care if they're not a duck. She will treat them as one of her own. You see, that day, Woozy Duck had rescued a little baby turtle left all alone, given him a new name, and welcomed him into their family. Now, Woozy Duck and Baby Quackwack were going to be the best of friends. And that was the first adventure of Woozy Duck and Baby Quackwack. Stay tuned to learn more about the day Baby Quackwack realizes maybe he's not a duck after all. And how Woozy Duck tries to convince him that he really is. Thanks for joining me on the Lip Hollow Podcast. I'm glad you came along for this adventure. Remember. Because who knows? Maybe there's a little woozy duck inside you two. I'll see you next time.
