Good morning, Berthod, and happy 3rd of July. Welcome back to your Morning Birthday Brief. As always, I'm your host, Trent Bootish. Let's get into it. First, we begin with some inspiration. Steve Sigwa of Pine Junction plans to become the first Coloradan and the oldest person ever to sail solo, nonstop, around the world. Beginning next August in France, the 78-year-old will attempt the 27,000 nautical mile voyage, including the five great capes, in about 300 days. A seasoned adventurer who previously circumnavigated the globe with his wife, Siguois says the journey honors French sailor Bernard Motessier. His biggest challenges will be carrying enough supplies and navigating the stormy southern ocean. We at the Bertha Beat wish Steve luck and a safe voyage. Up next, let's talk about fireworks. It's been a hot topic this year with the ongoing drought and fires in the state. Berthid's 3rd of July celebration will indeed be going forward according to the town. Come celebrate America's 250th birthday at Berthid's Free Community Fireworks Celebration tonight from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wagner Farm Park. This family friendly event will feature live music from DJ Drake and Tumble Down Shack. More than 30 food trucks will be there along with a beer garden, inflatables, lawn games, and a fireworks show at dusk. Bring chairs and blankets and enjoy the show. And of course, last but not least, because this is Fourth of July weekend, we've got a revolutionary war fact for you today. One of the most successful American spies was a woman known only as Agent 355, who provided critical intelligence to the revolutionaries as part of the Culpepper Spy Ring. The female spy's only documented reference appears in a 1779 letter from Abraham Woodhull to General Washington, where he wrote that he intended to visit New York with the help of his acquaintance, 355, to quote, out with them all. Her true identity remains unknown to this day. Well, that's all for your Friday morning brief. This has been Trent Buddish signing off. Have a great 4th of July weekend, and of course be safe. Make sure you show back up to work Monday with all the same appendages you left on Friday with, and we'll talk to y'all on Monday.
