Good morning, Berthood, and happy Monday. We hope you all had a great weekend. Welcome back to your morning birth brief. As always, I'm your host, Trent Bootish. Let's get into it. The surveyor is partnering with the town of Berthood to bring a taste of Northern Colorado to this year's End of Summer Bash this Friday, August 7th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Berthood Recreation Center at Wagner Farm Park. The event combines the community celebration with an opportunity to sample delicious food from restaurants across northern Colorado, all with the purchase of a single ticket. Guests can enjoy everything from fresh sushi and authentic Mexican cuisine to Asian specialties, Indian curries, decadent desserts, and much, much more. Along with the incredible food, attendees can browse local vendors, enjoy live music, and celebrate the end of the summer with friends and neighbors. Free tickets are available through the Taste of Northern Colorado Eventbrite page, so be sure to reserve yours before the event. In state news, federal officials have finalized a new 10-year framework for managing the Colorado River, requiring the four upper basin states, including Colorado, to conserve up to 200,000 acre feet of water or about 65 billion gallons. The plan also outlines potentially steep water cuts for Arizona, California, and Nevada, with states negotiating specific conservation and reservoir operations every two years through 2036. Colorado officials say they're still reviewing the report while Arizona warns the proposed reductions could severely impact its water users and economy. The plan is the result of a three-year negotiation process aimed at protecting the Colorado River system as drought and growing demand continue to strain water supplies.
