Good morning, birth, and happy Tuesday. Welcome back to your morning birthday brief, and as always, I'm your host, Trent Bootish. Let's get into it. If you looked outside lately and noticed a hazy sky, you're not imagining it. Wildfire smoke is once again drifting into Colorado as the Western U.S. continues to deal with an above-average wildfire season. After a few weeks of relatively clean air, forecasters say the state's northwest mountain region could be in for a prolonged stretch of smoking conditions this week, according to the Colorado Smoke Blog. As of Monday morning, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment had issued smoke health advisories for Grand, Route, Rio Blanco, Moffitt, Lamer, and Boulder Counties through Tuesday morning. Officials also warned that shifting winds could cause air quality to change quickly over the next several days. Some mountain communities, including Steamboat Springs, Craig, Kremling, and Gramby, recorded air quality index or AQI readings between 110 and 130 on Monday. This is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, meaning children, older adults, people with heart or lung conditions, and anyone experiencing symptoms should limit time outdoors and head inside if possible. Across much of the rest of the western slope, including communities along the Interstate 70 corridor, air quality was a bit better, with AQI readings between 50 and 70. That's classified as moderate, meaning conditions are generally acceptable for most people, though unusually sensitive individuals may still notice some effects. Health experts recommend exercising indoors if you can. This next one goes out to all my fellow barn enthusiasts out there because, yes, I absolutely love barns.
