Good morning, Berthod, and happy Friday. Welcome back to your morning birth of Brief. As always, I'm your host, Trent Bootish. Let's go ahead and wrap up the week together. The Berthood Farmers Market is happening at Town Park this Saturday, August 29th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Visitors can shop for fresh produce, handmade goods, and artisan crafts while enjoying food and live music. The market is one of the larger community events happening in Bertha this weekend. It's a great opportunity to get outside, support local vendors, and enjoy the community. The Regional Transportation District has launched the Next Ride app to make getting around the Denver metro area easier. Riders can use the app to plan trips, purchase tickets, and track buses and trains using real-time GPS information. The app also provides service alerts for cancellations, suspensions, and delays and can be used in ten different languages. Riders can pay through the app using Google Pay or Apple Pay and can also use it to report suspicious activity or other safety concerns. Bears are powerful wild animals that usually avoid people, but encounters can become dangerous when a bear feels threatened or is protecting food or cubs. If you encounter a bear, never run and instead give the animal a clear escape route while slowly backing away and speaking calmly. Bears can be attracted to food, garbage, bird feeders, and other items, so residents and campers should properly store anything that could attract them. Good recommendations for that are in a bear proof container or locked up inside of your vehicle securely. While spending time in bear country, carry bear spray, make noise while hiking, and never approach or feed a bear. Good advice for those heading out to hit the mountains in the next couple of weeks.
