SPEAKER_05Been a fucking month since we've been in here.
SPEAKER_06We were trying to figure out so hard before we started recording. We're like, when the hell? And why did we not record the past two weeks? Turns out I'm a piece of shit. Turns out we both are in our own ways. No, that's crazy. So no, uh, but really it has been two weeks. It doesn't feel like it, but it also feels like it at the same time when you actually look forward to recording. Yeah. Um, especially trying to do this weekly. But yeah, uh, at episode 13, we are here. It is the weekend of FIFA. FIFA's in Yeah, World Cup started. FIFA World Cup is here. They play in Houston tomorrow. Right?

SPEAKER_06They play one game every week. And then this pre- this most recent one was uh uh it wasn't Houston, but it was America versus Portugal. They beat no, they beat uh Paraguay. Paraguay, okay, off wrong P word. Two to two-nil. And then before that, the first game was Mexico versus South America, right? South Africa. South Africa, yeah. Mexico won the uh two to zero. That was pretty cool. Yeah. I'm pretty sure all the Mexicans of my family were going crazy. I'm sure they're pumped. Do you watching any of it? So uh I actually am. Nice. I actually I'm taking the time to do it. Nice. I have my app, my my friend Matt has me uh gave me his login for Fubo. Oh hell yeah. I watched Fubo.

SPEAKER_06But that's how I knew what was going on with the next game. How we were watching it. It was 90 uh 88 to 90? Tonight? When we started watching it, and like we started. Game five. Yeah, yeah. Game five, game five.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was uh yeah, there was yeah, it was a two-point swing pretty much from like eighty-six to eighty-eight, and then all the way up until yeah, the final was like ninety, I don't know, ninety four, ninety two, something like that.
SPEAKER_06We started watching when uh Wenbin Maya, what's his name? When Benyama. When Benyama. So that's a tough one. I would have never known how to say that. How freaky is that fucking dude?
SPEAKER_05And then the guy said it. How crazy is that guy? How tall is he? 7'5.

SPEAKER_05He'll be on the free throw line. Not not shooting, but like boxing out, just lined up on the free throw line next to Carl Anthony Towns, who's seven foot and like towering over him. It's crazy.
SPEAKER_06I saw uh he was uh I think I don't know who was doing the three throw free throw, but they're the both of them are like trying to get on his ass and like Yeah, trying to box him out to nightmare.
SPEAKER_05He's he's young and he's like he's too docile for his for his frame. Like he's not mean enough. He needs to be mean. But if he can get mean, he he will. He'll it's just he's gotta get more experienced and more confident. 22 years old, the whole team is super young. The oldest starter on the team since De'Aaron Fox came back, he's 30. But before that, De'Aaron Fox was out and Champagne was the oldest, and he's like 26, I think. Which is crazy. The Knicks are an older team. The Knicks have been around for a fucking minute, all the players, and that exact core has been around. Mine is like Landry Shaman for at least two seasons.
SPEAKER_06Every time I think of Knicks, I think of uh the movie Airbud, uh, and the um the janitor who ends up being the coach.

SPEAKER_06It was the actual coach of the Knicks? Well, no, the actor ended up was uh I think his name was Arthur Nicks. Stevie Nick 66 or something like that.

SPEAKER_05On a like an organized team and an organized league?
SPEAKER_06Yes. What? I think you'd love everybody then. I'm sure I would, but that's is it like high school? Oh, I mean, this is back in the day when I was growing up.
SPEAKER_05But like what is it, what team is he playing on? Is it like he's playing in a high school? There's a high school. There's a dog on a high school basketball team and he actually gets playing time? Yes. Is it like he's better than half the team? Is it like five on five, but one of the five is a dog, or is there also a dog on the court? It's however many players when he takes a player spot. Yes. What position does he play? Uh that's a good point.
SPEAKER_06He's forward, like a point dog, or is he a little power dog? He's a point dog and he's a forward dog. Really? Yeah, he's good at passing. Look at you knowing positions. That's good. I told Bree, I was like, I don't I don't watch sports, but like like that, like that, like crazy, like how people watch it like like you. Yeah, like I'm not saying in a mean way, obviously, but like I don't watch it every day. But when it comes to like actually watching it, I know what I'm talking about. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05But I love just uh enough of a dude that it's like you know sports, right? That's how a lot of dudes are, yeah. Just I could talk baseball.
SPEAKER_06Like if I like I'm good enough to to go to a Super Bowl or a World Series game or whatever and actually know what I'm talking about. Yeah, that makes sense. Like if I'm watching, obviously. I fucking love sports, but I don't know people's obviously like stats.
SPEAKER_05Literally 30 seconds before you walked in my door, I was crying. I was I was looking at the TV crying. I get so emotional about sports, dude. Watching Jalen Brunson ball his eyes out because uh I I love it.
SPEAKER_06I love who else uh who else balled their eyes out? I think was it Tracy Morgan balled his eyes out? He does that, he's had brain injuries, so but but I think it was because the Knicks won. Like last minute by one point.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you're talking about in game four? Yeah, in game. Yeah, I mean that was just that was also the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. They were down 29 points at halftime, I think, and then came back. But they're that's what they do. Okay. The Knicks have been like a late team, like they come back. Doesn't matter how far down they are, they've been doing it. There's some crazy stat that I'm gonna butcher where it's like the past two postseasons, which is the playoffs, teams that have been down 20 points. There's been like eight total comebacks of teams that have been down 20 points, and that Knicks team is like four of them. And then the rest of the league has four of them. It's crazy. Yeah, they're just that's what they do. It's incredible.

SPEAKER_06I like I like stuff like that. I can I can relate to Tracy Tracy Morgan with the brain stuff and the emotional stuff.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I was joking about that. Sorry about the brain injury thing. No, I tracy he got in a crazy car wreck. But your shit I do want to talk about if you want to talk about it. Well, then that that was kind of a segue into that. No, it was good, and then I butchered it with apologizing to Tracy Morgan, who's definitely gonna hear this. That's good. Totally. It was worth it.
SPEAKER_06No, uh so the the the side of my brain that happens to control emotions is the part of my brain that has the problems. Yeah. Yeah. They found that out. So we knew that already. Yeah. Our first neurologist told that already, but damn. They found more uh, I guess, evidence to show that okay.
SPEAKER_05They had you hooked up with the the stickers on your head. E E G. E E G, yeah. Or E K G? That's a heart. E E G is yeah, yeah. E E G. E K G is for the heart, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. I actually had a heart thingy too, and they called it a bio button, I think. Hell yeah. Fucking awesome. It reads my heart the whole time. Nice. Um vitals and stuff. And you were in there for how long? I I don't know what that stands for, unfortunately. I didn't I don't Google that much.

SPEAKER_05I'm not gonna lie. I and we can cut this out. I don't know how much you want to talk about. You were telling me a while ago that you were gonna go do this, and you were telling me that they basically have to induce seizures? Correct. That's so scary.
SPEAKER_06And that's what happened.
SPEAKER_05I basically was just picturing them had my boy in a room and they were just blaring metal music in your head and then flashing lights, and I was like, God, Angel's probably so scared right now. Poor guy. That sucks.
SPEAKER_06It wasn't like that. So the the lights thing though, they did do that. They flashed lights at you. They had a like little uh I guess uh a test.
SPEAKER_05Fucking Christ. How have we not figured out a better way to do that yet?
SPEAKER_06I could tell the difference though. Like I could tell her, like I was telling her, I was like, whoa, like so like they'd have me open my eyes, yeah, and uh it'd be flashing different speeds, and it'd go to like up to ten. I don't know the speeds, anyways. Every time I'd close my eyes, and that's when I would see the waves, like in my eyelids. The waves of light? Like, yes, like you know how sometimes when you see a bright light and you close your eyes, you still see the residue. Yes. So that would happen, but like the eyes were the lights were flashing clearly. It's like when I close when I would close my eyes, like it would it'd feel like they're like moving like crazy. And like the it would just get more intense, intense, intense. And I was worried I'd like, oh shit, they're literally gonna make me have a seizure right here. That's so scary. Like, oh my holy crap. Like that also tells me like how how strong my uh I guess I'm perceptive, I don't know how to say it, but like that just shows how much a strobe light doesn't make me crash out like right away right away, you know.
SPEAKER_05Resilient to light. Right. It didn't happen right away.
SPEAKER_06And like when every time we go to a concert, I would look down if I think it's too much. Yeah. Like when it comes to strobe lights or lights in general, I would look down or away.
SPEAKER_05But now, so does that kind of clear up that it it's not caused by lights? Correct. Or is it still like that's a danger and you should avoid it? Since you are technically epileptic.
SPEAKER_06I mean that kind of varies. They did the tests. Uh so I still had the medicine in my system. Right? This was the same this was day one or day two?
SPEAKER_02They didn't do anything necessarily day one. That was more of getting comfortable. Day two is when they did the lights and everything.
SPEAKER_06Really? I thought that was day one.

SPEAKER_05When did you get off the meds?
SPEAKER_02Um, he only took his morning dose on Monday.
SPEAKER_05That day that you went into the office. Yeah. So they didn't make you stop previously. No.
SPEAKER_06No, they they asked me to keep it that morning and I was confused. I was like, why do they why? Yeah. Well, and then when they first told me, like, prior to the actual visit, they're like, We're gonna remove the medicine from your system. I'm like, okay. I'm like, how are they gonna do that? I'm sure they have a way, whatever. I thought they were gonna hook me up and like literally like take it out of my my bloodstream or whatever. Dialysis. But no, like they literally just told me, take my first dose, but don't take my night dose.
SPEAKER_05Uh but so it just doesn't stay in your system that long. So they just we they just took you off of it.
SPEAKER_06Right, that's what I was telling her too. I was like, it once it leaves my system, I'm super prone to seizures. Like that's it.
SPEAKER_02Highly so scary.
SPEAKER_06Highly. Um, but uh the light thingy, the light test, I could like I was saying, every time I close my eyes, I could feel the intensity. Yeah, the waves. Fuck. So did you end up with the second one was a hyperventilating one?
SPEAKER_05Hyperventilating? They made you hyperventilate?
SPEAKER_06They were having me do tests and hyperventilate and see how they have you hooked up to like the 50 cent thing?
SPEAKER_05Like the 50 cent and then the club?
SPEAKER_06No, they just had that bio button thing and they had the EEG.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. But were they making you actually hyperventilate?
SPEAKER_06By just by breathing. Oh, okay, just like breath work.

SPEAKER_06Okay, and she's like, don't worry, if you feel cold, that's normal.
SPEAKER_05I thought they put a mask on you and were like depriving you of oxygen.
SPEAKER_06I was expecting stuff like that.
SPEAKER_05It seems like it should be more scientific.
SPEAKER_06I was expecting way worse. No, it's all just mental through the EEG.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I mean, I guess that makes sense. Tracking brainwashed.
SPEAKER_06And they're watching me video for 24-7.
SPEAKER_05Really? Okay, so like a sleep study, they're like monitoring everything.
SPEAKER_06Literally, when I'm awake, when I'm asleep, when I'm awake, when I'm they wrote it down every single hour. Jesus. So there's monitors.
SPEAKER_02I think the reason it might not be as I guess uh scientific as like a lab might be when trying to like induce these seizures is because they're trying to get the brain to do it in a natural way. Yeah, that makes sense. Because then yeah, in the wild they're not gonna force one that way they can see what your brain is naturally doing to cause it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, like you're not gonna get an adrenaline shot in the wild. So that's not they wouldn't just do that to induce one. Yeah. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_02Or like deprive you of oxygen.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're not depriving yourself on a daily basis that that would be causing this.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so they're trying to make it natural settings. Yeah. So did they give you a were you just in like a hospital room? Or did they give you like a better room since you were gonna be there for the long stay? They didn't give you like a nice room.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no. I was in a regular I mean it was comfortable. I just it just sucked sitting there because I I couldn't get out of bed unless a nurse was in there.

SPEAKER_06Uh she was in there with me, but it didn't matter. Just because of all the shit that was hooked up? I was fall risk.

SPEAKER_06So we took no no video games. We took our laptops, we never used them. We ended up just watching the cable TV, but they had good shit on TV. Cable rules.

Uh we had good TV though. That's good. We had good TV.
SPEAKER_02We also ended up watching Big Bang Theory like one day. Just that that's what was on the TV. And the office too.
SPEAKER_06It's a fun show. The office too. Big Bang Theory. Big Bang Theory 2, yeah. It's a good show. Once you go back to it, you're like, oh people shit on it, but it's that's a good sitcom.

Like different flavors and sizes, or like yeah, basically just different flavors. It's like the fruit colachis, like the real ones, like the the white people get mad at you for calling the meat ones kalachis. These are like OG kalatchis.

SPEAKER_05Uh, it took me like an hour 40 to get here. And it drove perfectly fine. Just obviously it's in good shape. She got some work done on it. Yeah, it's it's in good shape. She's always taken good care of it. That's always been like her backup vehicle.

No this was last weekend no today at Calachi Fest I had one shiner shandy okay and then I ate a bunch of bread and I did not feel a single thing. No last weekend we got dropped off downtown Houston where you like we're used to walking around that whole area but the World Cup being down there everything's blockaded so we got dropped off and we fucking lost we're like how the fuck do we get the truck out we usually just take the blocks that we know to get there. So she grew up the whole time across the street, the whole time I was across my cousin's house. Really? I I was always at my cousin Mario's house.

So like the the part of our neighborhood road that went over that, that's where I would normally park. Um started flooding. Needed to move my car.

SPEAKER_02Um No, it was it was a really bad flood after Harvey. But it wasn't a hurricane-related one. Okay, it was one of those weird random floods. Yeah, I don't think it had a name.

SPEAKER_02Because Harvey, like during Harvey, there wasn't enough construction in that area for that water to get that bad.

SPEAKER_02Um, but then of course they started developing over on League Line, and that fucked with our neighborhood. Cutting down all of the fucking trees and everything.

SPEAKER_05I got frozen in with Amber. We had like just started dating. Yeah. Same thing. Same thing with us, yeah. Dude, we had just started dating and she was living in an apartment with Destiny. And I I came to visit for the weekend and I got stuck. That's so funny.
SPEAKER_06Uh she after we started dating, she had just moved into her apartment.
SPEAKER_02So I did that before we started dating.

SPEAKER_02I moved out by myself. Um, like not even a full year before we got together. And when we started dating, 2021, he's over and it freezes. We're only able to go anywhere in his vehicle because I have a little a little Chevy cruise, so I'm not going anywhere. And he had the Xtera. Sick. So we drove to Aldi's to get food when we needed it after, like, we knew that the roads were you know drivable.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't remember a lot about that freeze. I remember being cold, obviously. We made a blanket for it. I fell. I remember falling once in the parking lot, hurt. Yeah, that sucks. And uh I remember my car being frozen and I tried to start it and it didn't start, and I got real scared. I was like, oh no, what a bummer. That's all I really remember from all that. We didn't have power for like two days. We didn't have power, right?
SPEAKER_02No, we didn't have a power. That's the reason we built a blanket fort because I was like, let's like, let's be in this little fort in my tiny ass living room um to try to stay warm, and it was all blankets. I think our phones are. We didn't always have blankets, so blankets fucking rule.
SPEAKER_06I think our phones were charged. Nice. Everything was charged.
SPEAKER_02We were semi-prepared for like a power loss. Yeah. So we charged everything that we had. Um, that's before I had a laptop. Um, he had one. We used that kind of as our battery when we needed it.

SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah, I used her phone. Uh her sorry, her her car as a flooded photo back in the day.

But yeah, I mean, that's what uh that's uh so speaking of it, of the walk, next year they asked us to bring five people, and we were gonna ask you and Amber if you guys would like to join us next year approximately approximately a year from now. Yeah. Because it's never I don't think it's ever on the same date.

They just ditched us. We told her, I was like, they just ditched us. They just like, all right how far y'all walk. So we walk from the Willis, um, like it's called the Willis. Yeah, the Willis Community Center by the it's a big ol' big old building next to boats when you exit Long Street.

SPEAKER_02Where you would like vote in Willis. Yeah, you vote and stuff. So from there to like the Goodwill. Go behind the like the back side of Goodwill on 1097 up to Campbell Street, I think I believe it is.

SPEAKER_02Turn and then walk behind the the car wash retreat. And then we normally do like a prayer, we release orange balloons, um, and then we walk back.

SPEAKER_02I think it's at least a mile. Um, I know last year or the year before, one of our watches started actually recording it.

SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's enough to where your phone is like, hey, you working out? Is it just one lap? Um, but I mean it's constant, constant yelling, constant like so how long is it la how long are you doing it for the whole thing? So to um I'd say it was about like 45 minutes.
SPEAKER_05Oh I thought you were out there for like five hours.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, no, no. Oh trust me, they wouldn't want to be out there either. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, it's brutal.
SPEAKER_02That and they they do it early enough in the morning and kind of late enough. Like late enough, you can sleep in a little bit if you want, but early enough in the day, you're not gonna like die of freaking heat exhaustion because it's like midday heat. That um we started walking at like 10. 10 inches.

SPEAKER_02Um, I being as pale as I am, took my parasol and was walking with that and water, and we again had the sweat rags. So because I already knew it was gonna be warm.

SPEAKER_02One good thing is their um the like the color for this foundation um is orange. Nice. So most everybody was in an orange shirt. We were wearing um a shirt we got, I think, for the second year um with his face, and I think like a picture of his kids, and it says stop the bullet. Like it's a really pretty shirt.
