In our new format we will be looking at astrological energies for the day. Listen and embrace the moment with Craig. Today; Sun in Cancer - Solstice Energy
Hello and welcome back to Sage of Stars podcast. We're going to begin our daily look at astrological events and other important details about the way in which life is unfolding around us, the energy that we can use, and the way in which we can harness that for our own spiritual growth. So the sun has moved into Cancer, and we've arrived at the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. For so many thousands of years, people have marked this moment as representing something extremely important, right? That the earth is alive with abundance. Look around, gardens are growing, fields are producing, birds are feeding their little babies, flowers are blooming, and life is expressing itself completely fully. Nature doesn't hold back right now. It's in high drive. And perhaps that's why cancer actually begins here. When most people think about cancer, they think about nurturing, caregiving, and emotional sensitivity, which is all true. But cancer isn't just about nurturing others, it's also about allowing ourselves to be nurtured. And that's what's much harder for many of us. We're good at striving, we're good at planning, we're good at problem solving, we're often much less skilled at receiving. Yet the season itself, I think, is trying to feed us the warmth of the sun, the smell of the flowers, the sound of birds in the morning, time that we can spend outside with family and friends, the simple pleasure of being alive on a really beautiful day, walking barefoot in the yard. Cancer reminds us that nourishment isn't always something that we create. It's something that we can receive. And we spend so much of our time saying, what should I do next? What should I fix? What should I improve? What should I accomplish? But the solstice, I think, is a different opportunity. It's an opportunity to say, what if nothing really needed to be fixed right now? What if life was already offering something really valuable? What if the abundance that was around me wasn't something that was going to come later? What if it was already here? And cancer teaches us to notice that what sustains us, not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually, and relationally, is already here. When you go to a farmer's market, like a beautiful farmer's market, and you see the abundance that's coming forth right now, you'll know that that's what the earth is providing for all of us. That the height of the sun and the brilliance of being able to hold your face up to it and feel that warmth right now is the fullness, the radiance that's coming down upon us from above. What feels like home to us? What replenishes us spiritually? What reminds us then life is more than just a checklist. I think these are the important things that we want to connect right now. So as we move into cancer season, let's take a moment and say where is abundance already present in my life and how am I taking it in? What nourishes me and how am I opening myself to receiving that? Am I allowing myself? Am I embracing? Am I inviting? These affirmations are so important for this time. I am inviting abundance into my life. I am welcoming spiritual renewal, spiritual awakening, and the process of self-understanding as part of my own joy and happiness. The summer solstice, I think, reminds us that life isn't only about producing, achieving, and striving, but sometimes says take a pause, notice, appreciate. The garden is full. The question, I think, is whether we're present enough to notice it and feel grateful for the bounty that's upon our table. Talk to you again tomorrow, and I'll see you then.
