Today we look at our need to consult an astrologer and why we like the good news and avoid the more difficult readings. Join Craig and have a short chat about why astrology helps us to define what is being asked of us and how we can grow from that knowledge. #astrology #astrologyclass

I think one of the most common questions that astrologers hear is what's coming up? People want to know what's around the corner. And I think if we're honest, there's usually a second question that's hiding behind it, which is, is it good? People want good news. They want to hear that money is coming, that love is coming, that success is coming, that everything is about to get easier somehow, because we all struggle with life's challenges and the exhaustion that it brings. And we want to stay in that zone where we feel on top of the game and where we feel basically happy. And we know from life that that's not, you know, the way that it's designed, that there are ups and downs. And so we want to figure out how we can capitalize on the good part and minimize the more difficult part, or at least understand it. And I think that the um the real purpose of astrology in that way is to help us know what energies there are, right? That what energies there are coming at us, what energies are available for us to facilitate and for us to use. And I understand that people want everything to get easier because we all do, but astrology doesn't really work that way. It isn't primarily a system for predicting events, it's really for understanding energy. If you think about the weather, for instance, a meteorologist will tell you that there's a storm coming, but they don't say, you know, your picnic is ruined. They tell you what kind of conditions there are out there so that you can prepare and adapt and make better choices. And I think astrology works in a similar way. The chart reveals patterns of tension, which are opportunities or growth or challenge or creativity or pressure or release or course correction or transformation. It tells us really about the quality of the moment. One of the reasons people often dislike challenging astrological forecasts is because we've been taught to think that tension is bad, but it isn't really bad. It's what strengthens muscles, it's what turns coal into diamond, it's what forces us to grow beyond our comfort zone. Many, most, all of the important moments in our lives come through periods of discomfort or uncertainty or challenge, as especially those tensions are released, and then we're renewed into something that feels like it's flowing better. If we've removed all of the tension from life, we would also probably remove all of the growth as well. So if we asked ourselves, you know, is this transit good or bad? Maybe we should really be asking, what is this energy asking of me? Is this time asking for courage, patience, flexibility, honesty, faith, discipline, letting go, rising above the ego, concern for another individual, honest course correction in our lives, risk taking. The list is enormous, right? And many of those things are difficult for us. We we shun them, we don't really want to think about having to be more disciplined or more hardworking, even, but we do. There's many times in life where we're called upon to bring those energies into existence exactly. So every planetary action is inviting a response, and the response that we have actually matters more than the transit itself. So the purpose of astrology isn't to tell us whether life is going to be easy, it's to help us work consciously with the energies that are unfolding around us. It doesn't remove challenge, it helps us meet challenge with awareness. And awareness, that's what creates the difference between being shaped by our life, external forces acting on us, and participating in our own growth. I'm Craig Martin, and you've been listening to the Sage of Stars podcast. I'll talk to you soon.
