Hello. Today the moon is in Scorpio and the Sun is in Cancer, and they're forming right now a perfect trine. Trine is an aspect that represents some easy flow between two energies. In astrology, I think people often get excited or nervous about challenging aspects because they can be quite dramatic. Squares create so much tension. Opposition sometimes create conflict. Those things really do get our attention. But trines are important too. A trine is what happens when life is moving freely, when the flow is not blocked. And sometimes that's exactly what we need. So what is a trine? Well, trines occur when two planets are approximately 120 degrees apart. Usually they're in signs of the same element. In this case, Cancer and Scorpio are both water signs. So they're kind of speaking the same language, right? They understand one another. There's a natural affinity. So instead of pushing against each other like in square signs, these cooperate and energy moves back and forth with less resistance. Trine energy matters. Well, first of all, because we could all use a break from the tension and the conflict, right? But some people underestimate trines because they don't create crisis tension, right? Nothing appears to be wrong, nothing is demanding immediate attention. And growth, though, doesn't always come through pressure. We talked about that the other day, how pressure often creates growth, but it doesn't only have to be pressure. Sometimes growth comes through support. Sometimes growth, I think, comes when conditions are favorable enough for something to just unfold in a natural way. Think of a garden after a gently soaking rain, which we got here last night. The rain isn't very dramatic, but things grow because of it. That's trying energy. Something moves easily, flow creates, and then growth is a result of that. Self-understanding is always really important, right? At least for me, it's something that I strive for constantly with myself and my clients and my students. The challenge with trines is that I think we can overlook them. We like to notice what's difficult, we love to deal with what hurts. We always notice what's broken and not working properly, but we don't always notice what's working well. Today's alignment invites us into a different kind of question. What in your life already feels like it's naturally flowing? Where do you already feel supported? What emotional strengths are available to you? Emotional because that's water, and cancer and scorpio are in this really terrific water trine. Because those emotional strengths are resources, and the resources that you have are meant to be used to further your own happiness and success. I think we could look at Cancer and Scorpio specifically, but there are other trines, right? There are other trines. You could have Leo and Aries, or Leo and Sagittarius, or Virgo and Capricorn. All elementally compatible signs are usually trying. So the earth signs are trying to each other, the water, fire, and air signs are all trying to each other. But today we have a Cancer and Scorpio trine. And specifically, Cancer helps us to feel, and Scorpio helps us to feel deeply. So together they encourage a kind of emotional honesty that we don't normally reflect on. Not drama, not overwhelm, not a meltdown, just emotional honesty, the willingness, I think, to acknowledge how we're really feeling beneath the surface. Now, does that mean that what we're feeling is going to be good? Not necessarily, but it does mean that accessing it is going to be easier. Accessing what we feel, like being able to just be honest. And during the trine, even if what we feel comes out to be a little bit difficult to feel, it's not going to be overwhelming. We're going to be able to handle it. Because these signs are working together today. There's an easier path for us to understand our feelings rather than just fight them. When astrologers talk about growth, I think we often focus on the places where life is challenging. But today, and during all trine energy, there's a reminder that growth happens with support. So the trine asks what's possible when we stop struggling against ourselves and just align with the natural flow that's a part of the day. I'm Craig Martin.
