Sage of Stars
Welcome to Sage of Stars, an astrology podcast about self-understanding, personal growth, and learning how to work consciously with life's experiences.
Astrology is more than prediction. It is a language of meaning, a tool for self-discovery, and a framework for understanding the patterns that shape our lives. Each episode explores astrology not as something that happens to us, but as something that can help us better understand ourselves and make more intentional choices.
Whether you're new to astrology or have studied it for years, you'll find practical insights designed to help you recognize recurring themes, navigate challenges, and make the most of your opportunities for growth. Through discussions of natal charts, planetary cycles, houses, signs, and current astrological influences, we'll explore how astrology can become a powerful tool for self-awareness and transformation.
If you're looking to learn astrology, deepen your understanding of your birth chart, or discover how astrology can support real personal development, this podcast is for you. It is also a companion for students seeking astrology education and astrology classes that emphasize understanding, application, and meaningful change.
Because astrology isn't just about knowing what's coming next.
It's about understanding who you are, why you do what you do, and what you choose to do with that knowledge.

So, some of our daily looks at the astrological energy of the day happen pretty quickly when we're looking at moon transits or mercury transits or Mars transits. A lot of those happen and they last only for one day. But today, Neptune goes retrograde as it does once every year, and it stays retrograde for quite a long time. So while we're going to talk about it today, we want to remember that this energy is lasting until December the 12th. That's five months of Neptune retrograde. So the heart of a Neptune retrograde is not all just about illusions. It um, no matter which planet, it's asking us to revisit or reflect on what it is that we've been doing in the realm of that planet. So when Mercury goes retrograde, for instance, we're reviewing the thinking that we've been doing because Mercury review re um is aligned with thinking. But Neptune is connected to dreams and ideals and faith and inspiration and our imagination, things that are Piscean, spirituality, compassion, and it does include um a shadow side like escapism and a confusion. But confusion is not really necessarily the problem, it's often the signal that an old vision, an old hope, or an old dream is no longer really fitting. And Neptune and Aries, the review is shifting from, you know, who who what do I hope? Um, who do I hope that I am to um who do I hope that I'm going to become? And we could say that it's not saying, you know, what do what do I want to be? It's saying, is that still my dream? And all of that is a very Neptune question. So leaning into the idea, I think, of confusion, which I think is a central core aspect of Neptune, um, life when things go retrograde sometimes get confusing anyway. As I said, Mercury retrogrades confuse our thinking. And Neptune retrograde can simply be an ongoing state of confusion, not knowing exactly what's coming next. Next dreams, maybe that have inspired us suddenly are no longer that interesting. Goals perhaps that we've been hoping to connect with for years, maybe no longer seem like we want to pursue, because there's an awakening of is it just a dream or is it something that I'm going to make a reality? That's one thing that Neptune is quite good at. And that can be very unsettling because, you know, the confusion can make us feel like we've really lost our way or that we've wasted time. And yet it is never about wasting time, it's always about the lesson that we're going to learn from the time that we've spent. And confusion is not always a sign that you've lost your way. Sometimes it's that evidence that the old direction is no longer matching up to what it is that you want to create. So it doesn't create confusion or cloudiness or disillusionment or even betrayal to punish us. It creates those uncertainties so that we stop pretending that we're certain. I think that the dream itself is the thing that's getting to be reviewed. Um, Mercury retrograde is again about communication. Saturn retrogrades, review responsibility, but Neptune retrogrades, review inner vision, hopes, and dreams. What have you been hoping for? What have you been praying for? What future have you been quietly building in the imagination? And to say, is that dream still mine? Is that where I am? Because sometimes we inherit those dreams from conditioning, sometimes from culture, sometimes from a younger self. And the Neptune retrograde, especially in Aries, is going to give us permission to say, is that who I really am? And I think that the becoming part, you know, what it is that we're going to become is something essential about this Neptune retrograde time period. And one other quick note is that Neptune's going to be in Aries for like 15 years. So we're going to be looking at the idea of the elevation of self, right? The transcendence of self, the moving of our identity towards the more mystical, towards the more transcendent, towards the more loving. That's what Neptune and Aries will inevitably do, even if it takes years. So this initiative, right, Aries, that we're going to take is going to be the initiative to become more compassionate. That first courageous act that we're going to take is going to be about chasing a dream of being a more elevated, more lovingly transcended, compassionate self and culture. And something really simple is like, is that who I want to become? Not what I expect to become or impress people or what looks good on paper, but who am I becoming? So if we go through a period right now where life feels a little uncertain, we don't need to rush to eliminate the uncertainty. We want to sit with it always and listen to it. Because Neptune is like a whisperer, it doesn't speak loudly. And confusion is not the absence of direction, it's the quiet space where the truer dream uh that you have is waiting to show up. You've been listening to Sage of Stars. I'm Craig Martin. I'll speak with you soon.
