There are uh ways that the planets interact with each other, and that is generally called aspects. And what is one aspect? How is one planet aspected to another? And the square aspect is the one that's the most challenging. And I often get a lot of questions about that. Like, what does that mean? What do those square mean? You know, I noticed the other day that we were trying to move a couch through a doorway, and it one person is like, lift your side, and the other one is like, no, lower yours, and the couch gets stuck, and nobody is really necessarily wrong. But the problem is that there's two legitimate forces that are operating across purposes and that they require an adjustment. This is what a square is actually like. And you what I've noticed about squares is that they often frustrate us, but that they are the things that force us to become more capable. The old astrology texts say that without some squares in your chart, you don't have any abrasion abrasive energy inside your personality that you need to integrate, that you need to find that common ground in order to be able to unstuck the stuck thing and get it through the doorway. And so the some of the aspects could be super easy in that analogy, right? Like if it was like a trine or a sextile, it could be like carrying a couch through a wide open set of French doors. It's literally easy, right? Effortless. Nobody even remembers it. But the square energy requires us to develop some kind of skill. It's like an intersection at a road that's 90 degrees, which is what a square is. Traffic moving in one direction cannot simply ignore traffic moving in the other direction. There has to be awareness and timing and negotiation and even a stoplight, right? So the square isn't always necessarily conflict, it can be two directions of movement that have to make space for each other. The um, you know, uh the aspects, the conjunction and the opposition, which are often uh a little bit more flow because there's a similarity to them or a polarity that I think works better than the square. Those are those are incredibly powerful aspects, but it's often the square that makes people have the most difficulty in their day-to-day life, whether it's natal-y in their personality, or whether it's a transiting square, which is the way we do prediction in astrology. So I was thinking, you know, in this same light about how life often requires us to move in two directions at the same time. We want security, but we want freedom, we want intimacy, but we also want independence, we want change, but we're afraid of losing what we already have. And astrology has a name for that kind of tension, and it's called the square. So, you know, planetary aspects are a really important part of the basic understanding of astrology. We could have in our needle chart, for instance, like the moon square Saturn, where we want emotional comfort, but we also need responsibility control, and there can be some conflict there between being more um stoic and practical, and at the same time wanting uh emotional reassurance, or we can't have one of the planets square to Uranus, and that would indicate that we want some kind of connection, but at the same time, we also need a lot of freedom. Those things, right? Though those energies are not enemies, they're having to learn how to work together. And what's super interesting about all of us as individuals is that the way we take, especially energy in our chart, that's more conflicting and manifested into who we are, the more of a unique individual we become.
