So this week I am still in this mindset of all of this Cancerian energy. I think next week we have a few big things on the plate. One of them is the basket formation, then also the sun is going into Leo. But for now, I want to be able to talk about home. Not in the way that we talked about nurturing, but to be able to talk about the concept of home from a spiritual perspective, the sacredness of home. And it reminds me how a home is very different from a house. Because a house, I think, gives us shelter, but a home holds something more. It's where we return to ourselves. Um, you know, we close the door on the outer world, we set down what we've been carrying all day long, and we remember who we are when we return to a safe place that protects us. I think cancer, the sign, is often reduced to ideas about family and nurturing and motherhood and childhood. But underneath all of that, there's this fundamental need for some kind of safety, emotional safety. And where do I feel protected? Certainly, one of your big answers should be home. Home should be a physical expression of a need to feel protected, a place where we feel safe. And home is a very clear boundary between the outer world and the inner life. The world that we go out into each day, we have to participate in it, we have to adapt, we have responsibilities, and there's a lot of performance, not performance like acting, but just having to show up and be on. And home is where we're allowed to stop all of that. So to speak, let your hair out, let your hair hang down. And that expression about just being able to just kick off your shoes or, you know, run around in your flannel pajamas, right? We're not doing that when we're going to the office. And I think home isn't where we're really escaping from life, but it's where we recover who we are. It's where we're able to take a step back from having to be out in the world and all that the world represents and come back to ourselves and return to who we are so that we can recover so that we can go back out into the world again. It's something quite natural, but it's very important that we connect with and honor that space that we call home, because that sacred space doesn't necessarily require an altar or incense or candles or rituals, or although, you know, those things can help us to recognize the sacred nature of home, but the space becomes sacred simply because we give it attention, even if that attention is not specifically spiritual. We clean it, we repair it, we protect it, we decorate it for holidays, we fill it with memories, friendships, and family, we choose what enters, who enters, what does not. Over time, home carries uh evidence of the care that we've put into it and the routine that we've developed around it. That sacred, which is often created through repetition. We talked about that also because of the nature of Virgo, that chair where we have our coffee, or the window that we look out of, um, the lights that we turn on when it starts to get dark, any familiar sound that we know about the house. All of these things connect us to the sacred space that protects us and allows us to return to who we are. Cancer is the is the crab, and the crab is interesting because it carries its home around with it, right? The shell that it's carrying around that protects it. It's a very sensitive, tasty little thing, but it survives because it is within its own little protective home. And our home serves a similar spiritual function. It gives our emotional life a container, not because of avoidance, it's because retreat and being able to feel safe in that way is how we restore the strength required again for participation, which is something that's the outer world. It feels important because I think cancer is sometimes criticized for withdrawal, but closing that door and going off and withdrawing is not necessarily about fear, it can be about preservation. There's one thing that we always talk about when somebody has a child that's born in the sign of cancer, and I always say, Hell, you know, when they go to their room and they lock the door, just give them that space in order to be able to heal and be alone and isolated and then feel safe to return back to the uh openness of the family again, because just uh a cancer child's room becomes the home, the safe, protective, preserved place. I think astrology asks us to internalize every symbol. And the deepest meanings of home are clearly not that it's a building or a location, or even the people around. It's about the inner home, the place where we are permitted to have our memories and where we're allowed to be who we are without judgment. That strong, you know, inner refuge is um a complete cycle from the outer world. It's a place where we're allowed to come back to ourselves and rest. And that's a beautiful and important thing for all of us to do. So home is sacred because it gives us the space to unwind and be who we are and rest from all of the work that we need to do while the sun is up. Um you've been listening to Sage of Stars, I'm Craig Martin, and I'll talk with you real soon.
