The sun goes into Leo today, and that's a fantastic time since the sun rules Leo. It's the natural time when the sun is completely empowered to shine at its best and its brightest. It's certainly no coincidence that it's the middle sign of summer when the sun is the most strong. So I think that when we think of Leo, we often think of confidence or creativity or being seen. But this year, the sun is entering Leo kind of hand in hand with Jupiter that just went into Leo last week. And that incorporates growth and wisdom and meaning into this greater season of largeness. It changes the way in which we're going to talk about the sun going into Leo this year because true leadership, which is of strong Leo quality, is not just about standing in the spotlight. I think it's about making everyone else feel welcome. So, what are those qualities of Leo that don't get talked about so much? That has to do with grace. And being gracious is about being kind and being giving. And it's one of the strong qualities of Leo that stands out when a Leo or someone with Leo qualities is a good leader. The idea that what does the sun actually do, right? It shines on all of us. It doesn't choose who to shine on, it just simply shines. It's one of the reasons why Leo has that larger-than-life personality, because one thing that you can't avoid is the sun. If you're out in it, it's big and it definitely gets your attention. But the simply radiating light and warmth of the sun is Leo at its healthiest, right? It's not really demanding attention, it's creating an atmosphere where all of life is growing and being abundant in its light. Jupiter, in connection with the sun and Leo, is an image really of enlarging the heart. Leo rules the heart also. When you're doing medical astrology, Leo is connected to the heart. And this year, Jupiter being in Leo and a low degree of Leo also makes Leo's qualities even bigger. How do I be more gracious, more encouraging, more welcoming? The most magnetic people aren't necessarily the loudest ones, right? They're often the ones who make everyone else feel important. We've all met someone like that. I certainly know people like that. You leave a conversation with that person feeling better about yourself, not because they impressed you, but because they saw who you are. And that's what leadership really is. There's a shadow side to this, of course, and we don't necessarily need to spend too much time there, but Leo can, you know, be a little full of itself. It can want attention for its own sake. There's certainly a shadow side of it where when it feels like it's not seen, it can become kind of petty and demanding of intention or create drama in order to be able to get attention. But that's not really where we are today because Jupiter is large but spiritually in charge. Jupiter is the abundance that comes from creating a life with meaning. I think if we asked ourselves a simple question today, it would be more like, how can I make other people more seen when I walk into the room? Not because I'm entertaining or because I'm impressive, but because I'm welcoming. Because the sun doesn't lose its own light or warmth by shining it on others, and neither do we. And I think that's what Leo is really teaching us here. The warmest, brightest people in the room are not always the ones who are the most shiny. They're usually the ones that help everyone else discover how to shine too. I'm Craig Martin. This is Sage of Stars podcast, and I'll talk to you real soon.
