Astrology is more than prediction. It is a language of meaning, a tool for self-discovery, and a framework for understanding the patterns that shape our lives. Each episode explores astrology not as something that happens to us, but as something that can help us better understand ourselves and make more intentional choices.
Whether you're new to astrology or have studied it for years, you'll find practical insights designed to help you recognize recurring themes, navigate challenges, and make the most of your opportunities for growth. Through discussions of natal charts, planetary cycles, houses, signs, and current astrological influences, we'll explore how astrology can become a powerful tool for self-awareness and transformation.
If you're looking to learn astrology, deepen your understanding of your birth chart, or discover how astrology can support real personal development, this podcast is for you. It is also a companion for students seeking astrology education and astrology classes that emphasize understanding, application, and meaningful change.
Because astrology isn't just about knowing what's coming next.
It's about understanding who you are, why you do what you do, and what you choose to do with that knowledge.

July 27 - Saturn goes retrograde in Aries: Becoming the New You!
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This lasts until December, so its effects are slow and assured. Saturn rules structure and Aries rules our sense of self. The restructuring of who we are has begun and now it's time to take one step back and look at what we've begun.

This feels like such a big week. We have a full moon this week. We have uh Saturn going retrograde today. We actually have the moon's north node changing sign, which I'm going to talk with you more about tomorrow. But let's start with retrograde Saturn, which is today. It feels really big because the outer planets go retrograde about once a year, and they stay retrograde for about half a year. For instance, Saturn is going retrograde today, and it's going to be retrograde until the beginning of December, the middle of December. So that's quite a few months. And I think this is the first review, I like the word review for retrogrades, of Saturn's transit through Aries. And I think that's important because it's the first time since Saturn has entered Aries that we're being asked to build a stronger, more authentic identity. And the retrograde is saying, is the person that we're becoming built on our conviction and our discipline, or is it built somehow on a reaction to who we think we're supposed to be? You know, when we work really hard towards becoming something, and then we discover as we're getting, you know, as we're working on it, that we're not quite sure that what we're working on is what we actually want, those are periods of self-reflection. Saturn is very um strong and grounded, right? Saturn makes things real, that's its job. It actually has the function of making something real or exposing that it's actually not possible to make it real. The conditions, all the conditions that determine whether something will actually be able to hold form in reality are governed by Saturn. It's constantly asking us for consistency over time, right? And and we always ask the question, do I still want this, knowing what it's actually going to require of me to be able to really bring it into form? Form is another word that Saturn uses all the time. Saturn is always talking about your level of commitment when you're faced with reality. What will reality require of me in order to be able to make this thing real? Saturn in Aries is brilliant. It's amazing. It's helping us all to be able to rediscover our own autonomy, our independence, our power, the choices that we're making for ourselves. The retrograde, though, is going to be the question where we say, like, as I've moved forward, is this what I really want? And Saturn builds things really slowly. It doesn't give quick quick rewards, but it gives lasting ones, right? Saturn is like a diet. Saturn is like building a company and growing it. Saturn is like anything that we have to put a lot of work and effort in in order to be able to make it real. It doesn't just manifest overnight. Saturn is not a quick scheme. And when it enters a new sign, I think it begins telling us that there's something that we're going to need to work on and support for years to come. And that thing that we're working on is who am I becoming? Not who are people expecting me to be, not who I used to be, not who you used to be, but who are you choosing to become through discipline and responsibility now in this cycle? And since Aries is identity, not just independence, but the idea like, oh, I exist, I am, it makes this transit really personal. It it talks about every boundary that we set, or every risk we take, or every time we speak up, or every time we choose ourselves over the old conditioning. Saturn is quiet, it sits in the background and it's working now on our personal power and who it is that we want to be. Retrogrades always mean review. They don't right, the work doesn't stop just because uh Saturn goes retrograde, but it can move inward. And it's more like walking through architectural plans before you start actually building the building. Where is this weak? You know, you examine the plans. Where are we pretending to be instead of actually you know becoming? Where are we still looking for permission to be ourselves? Retrogrades are not like delays or or stops, they they're they're quality control, and they're important because of that. So which part of us is genuine and which part are we still needing to examine? Which part of the goals, having a goal, that's very Saturnian, but which part of that goal and the way in which we're managing our feelings towards that goal is real. Doesn't go direct until December, so that's a big deal because when it does turn direct, I think we're going to feel a renewed sense of purpose and a renewed sense of identity, not because we've become someone different, but because there's something a little more authentic. We test the structure of who we are, we strengthen up the weak places, and we alter what it is that needs to be changed in order to be better. So this isn't about um not getting things done, it's about taking a look at what we want to get done or what we already have gotten done, and taking just one step back for a moment and saying, Is this the direction that I want to go in? Remember, building lasting structure is something that um is not easy to undo. So it's time now to ask us what do we want to become solid? Right? The strongest identities are not discovered in a single moment. Um they're built by us one honest decision at a time. I'm Craig Martin, you're listening to Sage of Stars. I'll talk to you real soon.
