So there's this old story that I like to tell, and it's this story of there are two classes, you know, they're learning classes, and they have an instructor, and it's ceramic, it's a ceramics class, and they're supposed to make like little bowls or pots or little vases, just like a basic pottery shape. And the teacher divides the class into two groups and tells and separates them and tells one group, you're supposed to make the very best pot you can make. And the person who makes the best, you know, pot or bowl, um, is the the who makes the best one is the one that's going to get the best grade. And then in the other classroom, the teacher tells them, you need to make as many pots as you can in the designated amount of time. And the person who makes the most is the one that's going to get the best grade. And so it's an experiment to discover something that's very uniquely Virgo, which is who do you think made the best bowls? And the answer is not the ones that set out to make the very best one, but the ones that made the most. Because repetition is what makes us better. And Virgo understands that. You don't just do something once and master it. You do it, notice it, notice what happened, make adjustments, and do it again, then again. So Virgo is mutable so that repetition is not rigid, it contains adaptability, which is what the mutable signs are. It's very important. Repeating something exactly is a habit, but repeating something while observing and then adjusting is practice, and practice makes improvement. And that practice makes perfect is ironically not very Virgo when you understand Virgo properly, because perfection suggests some kind of final state, finished, flawless, nothing more to change, and Virgo is actually the opposite, it's always seeing the next adjustment. That's why one of the shadow sides of them is perfectionism because they always think that something can be better. Practice makes improvement, and improvement is actually an alive process. It acknowledges that yesterday's effort leaves some kind of room for tomorrow's refinement, and it makes the whole season less about perfection and more about craftsmanship. I've said before that we have Leo, which is very exciting, right? We want to have a baby, we want to start something, and then we have Virgo. Someone's got to diaper the baby. But the more you diaper the baby, the better you become at being a baby diaper, which is the idea of Virgo, and you can apply it to anything, to your exercise program, to your diet, to the way in which you have relationships with your parents or your siblings or your children. All of that has to do with the way in which we're reaching through the veil to say, you know, there might be a better way of doing this, and maybe I should consider what that way might be. Something that we want to maintain as an act of care could sound kind of boring, but when you recognize what it means, we maintain things we value our body, our home, our relationships, our skills, our careers, our spiritual practices. Maintenance is really just saying this matters enough to me that I will go back to it. Another really beautiful Virgo thing. Care expressed through attention and repeated action, not something grand, just a little thing that's done again and again because it still matters. So as we go through the Virgo season, you ask yourself, what in my life is worth maintaining? What could be better? Not through dramatic, you know, reinvention, but simply because you're returning to it and you're going to pay attention to it, and you're going to make an adjustment to it, and you're going to try it again and you're doing it again because it matters. Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes improved. I'm Craig Martin. This is Sage of Stars. I'll talk to you real soon.
