Quick tour update. Live from my hotel room!

Welcome to the World of J Way podcast, episode four, coming to you live from my hotel room here in Colorado Springs, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, wherever the fuck I am. I didn't anticipate having it be as hard as it is to find a time to do the podcast while I'm on the road, but uh I'm getting used to it. This is our first day off uh that we had in a while, so I figured I'd I'd jump on here and have a quick conversation, let everybody know how this tour is going. Um we're out on the road right now with peeling flesh, missing link, and cruelty. And um the guys on this tour are awesome. Every single band is killing it every single night. Uh nothing but nothing but friends. Just it's it's been insane. Lots of laughs, lots of lots of talking shit to each other, and you know, everybody watching each other's set, everybody just being real fucking cool. And uh, you know, couldn't ask for better guys to be out with. Um the the first leg of the tour was completely sold out. Um the shows were absolutely insane. Um I mean kids dancing from the beginning to the end of the show. Uh just just absolute insanity. It's been um it's been it's been really fucking cool. And uh to have the opportunity to be out on the road with these guys and and to be able to play these rooms and um and and just get more people to know what Bay Wei is and to see Baywei for the first time is has been a really uh a really great experience. A lot of kids coming out that saw us with snuffed on site, which is really, really cool. Um and just a lot a lot of kids coming out in general that just you know it's it's it's awesome to go on tour and see familiar faces, no matter where you go. Uh, you know, people hit me up, give me food recommendations and and shit like that. It's just like that's like the coolest part. You know, you get to see all your friends from like across the country that uh you only get to see when you're touring. And you know, it's awesome to catch up with people, it's awesome to meet new people, and you know, it's just really, really a great energy. The tour has like just a fantastic energy overall. Um we had some van troubles going into the tour. We drove uh we left New Jersey for the first day and drove 28 hours straight. Um for most of that drive, the van would not go above 40 miles an hour. Uh so that was definitely stressful. Um, we've been fixing it little by little. Um, you know, Tito, Diego have been getting under the hood um and swapping parts out as as we go along. And uh and we've been getting the van fixed little by little and and it's starting to starting to be back where it is. Uh, we had a scary day the other day going up the side of a fucking mountain, going up 7,000 feet or 8,000 feet, whatever it was. And uh just I mean, at at literally 12 to 24 miles an hour the entire time. Just fucking absolutely insane. Pretty nerve-wracking, but you know, I mean it's a part of it. Um it's a part of it. And uh we're we're getting it, we're getting it squared away, we're getting it back to where it's supposed to be. And once uh once it's back to 100%, it's like, you know, you don't even realize like how easy you had it on tour the last couple times till you uh until you have some issues. But uh everybody seems to be in good spirits. The show's been great. Um we've we've been absolutely crushing it in terms of like just I feel like the energy on stage has been uh been fucking awesome. The way the band is sounding is awesome. Really fucking with the set list that we put together for this, and we're working our way towards tie down uh towards the end of this tour, which is just like, you know, uh it's just such a cool fest. So it's just a lot of really great bands in one day. Um I'm gonna play two sets with Shadow Realm, one with Baywe. And uh I'm I'm just looking forward to it. It's gonna be a really cool way to uh really cool way to end the tour. My girls meet me out there, it's gonna be nice to see her after three weeks. And um, yeah, it's just uh a really, a really great way to end a really what's what's already been a really great tour. Got another you know, round of shows coming up this week, and uh I haven't taken a look to see you know if they're sold out, but I think the they had low tickets last time I last time I looked. So if it's anything like the the rest of this tour, uh chances of it selling out are high. So if you haven't gotten your tickets for the upcoming shows, please do. Um it would be awesome to have everybody out there. And uh we've been playing early, but the rooms have still been packed, so it's been it's been really fucking cool. Um super excited. Finally brought a uh uh a doll with me on the road. Uh for those of you that don't know what the fuck that is, that's the way that I where everybody records their shit. Um so I've been able to write Baywei songs while on the road. I got five new tracks that I've I are completely finished. Um I had four going into the tour, so I'm I'm back up to like nine songs. Um we just sent out four songs to be mixed, uh, along with Sea of Regret. There'll probably be a new EP. I imagine I'm pushing for July. I'm hoping that we can make it happen for July, but we'll see. I don't want to rush anything. Uh, but there'll definitely be a new single before Hellfest. Uh Hellfest just got announced. We're co-headlining with Suicide Silence on Friday, which is a literal dream come true for me. I mean, that band was so important to me for so many years, just such a fucking great band. And uh, you know, Eddie actually came out and and uh I got to kick it with him a little bit at the observatory in Cali. And that was fucking awesome. And I mean that the band has just been, you know, ever since they dropped, ever since I first saw him on MySpace, I uh I've always wanted to uh you know, always wanted to play shows with him, always fucked with the band. And now to be at a position where, you know, we're gonna co-headline something like a Hellfest uh with Suicide Silence is just really uh it's really an insane thing to even say out loud. You know, uh 13-year-old me is fucking stoked, 14-year-old me is stoked, whatever way age I was when I heard that shit. And uh it's it's just gonna be it's gonna be a really fucking cool time. So if you haven't gotten your tickets for Hellfest, make sure you go out, you get your fucking tickets for Hellfest. If you're a Jersey person and you're not there on Friday, then your New Jersey card is revoked, you no longer are from the state of New Jersey, and you need to go and move immediately someplace else where they have bad pizza and no New Jersey chant. Um, I expect to see everybody out there. Uh it's it's gonna be crazy. We got a lot of surprises uh for the Hellfest set, so I can't wait to see. I can't wait to see what that uh what that looks like. When I get home, I know I'm supposed to shoot some content with Theo for Hellfest. Shout out to Theo. I know he's out on the road right now, paying the truth. I've been seeing his videos, he's fucking killing it. Dude's one of the hardest working guys out there. He's fucking awesome. If you haven't seen his stuff, check out at not Theo Sicarella on uh on Instagram and and definitely look at uh what he's got going on. He's always out with a different band. Uh he he he's just you know he was a driving force between uh behind the uh early Bay Wei social media push and did a lot of of work with me and the believe in Bayway stuff and just a really a great dude, um, but an awesome videographer, and you know, just probably doesn't doesn't get the credit that he deserves. So let's let's shout him out right here, right now. Make sure that he gets a little credit on this show. Uh but yeah, I just I wanted to tap in with everybody and see, you know, uh just see what it was like to record a podcast uh on my laptop inside of a fucking hotel room. It's kind of weird, but uh it is what it is. I I got some really cool guests coming up like soon. I'm probably going to be interviewing the dudes in Peeling Flesh within the next couple of days. Uh I'm I've talked with the guys from Snuffed On Site about coming on the show and then I got some other stuff in the works that I I don't want to uh I don't want to talk about or spoil. But uh I'm I'm excited for that this is hardcore announcement to s to come out soon. Um you know, Joe's been working really hard on it, it's 20 years, and it's uh it's it's gonna be a fucking good one. It's gonna be a good one. I'm not spoiling shit. Don't text me, don't message me, I'm not telling you what the fuck's going on. But uh I know a lot about what's going on and you don't get to know until Joe tells you, so fuck you. Uh but yeah, it's gonna be a really cool one this year, and um I'm I'm super excited to get him on here and have him bullshit about that. But yeah, the new Bayway stuff is is kind of crazy. It's kind of all over the place in terms of you know, in terms of of his sound, you're definitely gonna get some classic Beywee stuff, and you're definitely gonna get probably I would say some of the heaviest stuff that we've ever done, uh, which is really, really fucking cool. We've been touring with a lot of a lot of really heavy bands, and you know, you never really know like uh how your stuff lines up with stuff. You know, it's like okay, like we're going out with the death metal band. It's like how does Baywei fit in that in that category? And then we, you know, we go out and fuck kids go crazy and it's awesome. We go out with a slam band, it's the same thing. We go out with a hardcore band, it's the same thing. We we go out with hip hop acts, it's the same. It's like a really cool, uh, it's a really cool experience. It's like what I always wanted uh Bei Wei to be able to do is just kind of like, you know, like I I feel like we have an energy and a vibe that kind of fits whatever like it needs to fit. Like just, you know, put us in a room and let's fucking have fun. I'm uh I'm definitely I'm definitely having a lot of a lot of fun on this tour. I've been talking a lot of shit, um, and been doing, you know, doing my best to to preach the good word of New Jersey. Everybody's New Jersey chanting no matter where we go. It's pretty awesome. And uh I don't know anybody else that's getting anybody to do that. So if you do, please let me know. Give me a shout. And uh and tell me what's going on. And tell me who's who's got motherfuckers in Europe chanting New Jersey. I would uh I would love to know. I'd love to see it. But uh yeah, looking forward to getting a few guests on the show, looking forward to, you know, the next the next chapter for Baywei in terms of what this this summer's looking like. We got a tour that we announced with No Cure, Big Ass Truck, and Bowl Cutter. Um hung out with with one of the dudes in Bolt Cutter uh just last week and and looking forward to that tour. It's probably gonna be really fucking cool. And um a lot of the places that we're hitting are are really are really really cool. So I'm excited to get back out on the road for the summer and we just we just basically um settled on what we're gonna be doing in the fall. Looks like we're gonna be doing another full US in the fall. So keep your eyes peeled for that, because those dates are gonna get announced soon. And the tour that we got for you guys is really fucking cool, really fucking heavy, and uh I think you're I think you're gonna fuck with it. I think you're heavily gonna fuck with it. So yeah, I just wanted to check in and uh let everybody know what's going on over here. I'm still alive, I'm still doing the podcast, nothing's changed. This is gonna be a short episode, but the next one that I do, uh I'm definitely gonna bring in somebody for an interview, and uh that somebody will probably be uh be my boy D, Mr. Harris, as I call him, from Peeling Flesh. So I'll get that one up as soon as I can. Hopefully I can get it in the next couple of days. Like I said, bear with me, man. It's hard to do this shit and tour at the same time, but I'm gonna figure this shit the fuck out and I'm gonna try to get it consistent. So I appreciate everybody that listens, I appreciate everybody that hits me up.
