CREATE Daily is more than an acrostic — and it is more than where you live and work. It is about who you are in community with.

Over the past year, I have traveled extensively, studying transportation systems, reviewing hundreds of hotels, restaurants, and modes of travel, all while telling the stories of people, places, and the things that move them. Closer to home, I have served as a communications specialist for rural transportation and Main Street Connections. At one conference, I listened as transportation officials discussed funding challenges and why transportation is so often a nonprofit, grant-seeking endeavor that relies heavily on government agencies and Medicare for support.

What travel and transportation need most is CREATE thinking.

Back in the 1990s, I wrote an op-ed in The Denver Business Journal. While shopping malls were being "repurposed," Light Rail was being built across the metro area. I dared to dream that Light Rail Hubs could become centers of transportation — living, breathing malls linking home, work, and community, with trains running through Cherry Creek, Southwest Plaza, Aurora, and Westminster. That vision could have solved neighborhood blight, accessibility challenges, and design shortcomings — and it should have been seen as a prime investment opportunity for entrepreneurs, banks, and property investors alike.

Rural transportation has that same opportunity today.

CDOT and local agencies can partner with community-rooted entrepreneurs — such as the Colorado Chapter of the Leadon Family Foundation — and collaborate with custom travel solutions and clubs to book business travel and vacations that fund local and regional connections. Travel for shopping, medical appointments, connections to rail, air, and Bustang can become a profit-first endeavor, serving everyone who wants cleaner air, educational opportunities, and access to recreational, cultural, and entrepreneurial experiences — at home, through work, and in the community.

The CO Chapter of the Leadon Family Foundation is a think-and-do tank, here to help you explore what's possible. To join us, email Richardbeattie809@gmail.com.

It's what you don't see that can change your life. Every day you open your eyes and the mental checklist of all that you have for the day blocks your vision. You get past the bedroom, the bathroom, the breakfast, and the drive-through. You arrive at your desk, and there are voicemails and emails and snail mails, and you process through until lunchtime. That's what you see every morning. Then, when we rewind the AM and go back, you find the morning that you didn't see. You ran past your husband who was trying to find meaning in his work. You snarfed down the burnt toast and left the coffee maker on and oh, and you cut off your neighbor who was bringing his wife home with their new baby. You were in your own zone as you raced through the school zone.

Hey everybody, Richard Beattie back in the studio and on Create Daily. Hey, I just wanted to tell you about a book, and we're gonna do a um an interview with David Pritdle. Uh if you like fun, informative and factual kids' books like The Magic School Bus, then you'll love if not you, then who? A recent Amazon bestseller. The books are fun to read for both adults and children, and each story comes with free entry into the Young Inventors Club, is exactly what we're trying to do at the Colorado chapter of the Leden Family Foundation, and also what Charlie's doing at the Leden Family Foundation as well as the other chapters that are starting. So here's that interview with David Brittle. So uh tell our listeners about uh if not you book series and what are your books about and what are their core messages to kids.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the core message is that every idea is important, every um idea needs to be fostered, and um every child owns their own ideas. And so we have uh four books out now that take you through the ordinary day of our kids of how we were like. So one book is taking you through the day of our daughter who goes to school, another book takes you through our friend building freehouse, another book takes you through all of our kids, um games in the background for all of them. And our letters of green takes you through. So in every aspect of what these children do, we want to show them that to be creative is to be a child. And when you're creating your invention, every invention is valuable. We have archives um journals that are better to write down their ideas and what we call better help. And so it's actually fine at the end of the week every week to talk to them about their ideas for the next flying machine or the next cell phone, what what do we do? And um it's a really interesting message, it's really resonating with uh right.

SPEAKER_02

Well, how do how do people get in touch? How do they uh how do they get a hold of the book series, especially parents? Uh what do they do?

SPEAKER_01

Well, the books are available on Amazon, and you can learn more about it by going to our website at if not youbooks.com. And we're also on Instagram at if not you books, so you can uh check us out there and join our inventors club on our website. Uh parents can sign up on behalf of their children and then they can participate in challenges and let the inventing begin.

SPEAKER_02

David Prettle, if not you, then who? And that's uh that's a great thing. Um I hope that um the adults in the in the room get that message as well. If not you, then who. Uh bookstore.com. Well, you know my father was an architect, and he knew how to create a foundation. Poetics is the art and science of thinking and doing. Colorado chapter of the Letten Family Foundation is calling all men and women to endeavor to think and do in our community in the areas of commerce, creation, education, arts, travel, and transportation, and entrepreneurship. Together, we will face and solve the challenges that face us in all areas of life. And we are in it for the long haul, for generations to come.
