I am a traveler. I often have a journal, a guitar on my back an overnight bag and a laptop. Short, long and medium trips experienced through the journey learning and serving the communities that I visit. One of the areas of CREATE Daily is concentrating and offering the benefits of travel and transportation options at home, through our work and in community. One of my initiatives is to build community chapters for the Leadon Family Foundation (and University) and offering benefits and opportunities for travel and entrepreneurship to members. Traveling is in my blood. As a writer, and a singer-guitarist and songwriter, I have conqured creative blocks by hitting the road. I write on trains, planes and in hotel rooms and lobbys. I love the customs, the rhythm and the vibes of a city, town and Main Street or in a rural setting.
In cooperation with Sound Century Academy, the University of Colorado and The Harry Tuft Collection.
Hi everybody, it's Richard Beattie, and you're listening to the Create Daily for April 6, 2026. Charlie Leiden is doing something that I wish I did years ago. Leiden is building a foundation of entrepreneurial leaders who are investing in their community through recreation, fitness, and health, education and continuing education, coaching and mentorship, cultivating ideas through arts and media, and connecting communities through transportation and travel. Starting state chapters in all 50 states is a recipe for community entrepreneurship that continually bring up next generations of entrepreneurial leaders at home, through work, and in community. If I framed it in an old-fashioned word problem, it might sound like this. The Valley's main industry are nonprofit organizations with over 70. Real estate, religious, and construction make up 20% of commerce, with tourism and retail bringing up the rear at 10%. What will the valley be like in 10 years? There are no wrong answers, yet there are many challenges. If we rebuild our community with an entrepreneurial mindset with 70 companies that support one another and support those not-for-profit organizations, then our Little Valley truly will begin to look like Valley Strong. That is the breakthrough equation that we must answer. And as a deer in my headlights said the other day, the buck stops here. As president of the Colorado Chapter Committee of Lead and Family Foundation, I will be starting at home to answer and question. Build an organization that retains and begins innovation in economics, environmental, enterprise, export, education, and entrepreneurship. This starts at home and with a little yeast grows throughout Colorado. May we be the model for all 50 states. SPEAKER_03Every day you open your eyes, and the mental checklist of all that you have for the day blocks your vision. You get past the bedroom, the bathroom, the breakfast, and the drive-thru. You arrive at your desk, and there are voicemails and emails and snail mails, and you process through until lunchtime. That's what you see every morning. Then, when we rewind the AM and go back, you find the morning that you didn't see. You ran past your husband who was trying to find meaning in his work. You snarfed down the burnt toast and left the coffee maker on, and oh, and you cut off your neighbor who was bringing his wife home with their new baby. You were in your own zone as you raced through the school zone. This is what you don't see that can change your life.
SPEAKER_01Snow melt is looking scarce, and the natural runoff is evaporating before it reaches streams and lakes. At Fling Golf and Fling Fitness, the future of the fairway in Colorado is in need of innovative thinking. At Valley Parks and Recreation in the Wet Mountain Valley, a new season is upon us. This is for all ages activities. St. Andrews Golf Course was sold many years ago. The closest golf course in our area is an hour away. Transportation needs to be negotiated and alternatives to traditional golf courses need to be discussed. Funds for Fitness and Fun. Create funding is an initiative of the Colorado chapter of the Letton Family Foundation holding together mutual shares from monthly membership dues. Funds are invested in mutual funds and stocks to fund community projects, recreation, education, arts, and media, travel and transportation of member entrepreneurs who start likewise endeavors. Fling Fitness. I love to play sports and I enjoy strategy. I devised a scoring strategy on my own fitness, and I found that by doing so, the most important numbers had to do with reducing numbers like weight, cholesterol, calories, waistline, and physical age. Since then, my numbers have been 55 pounds off my brain. Reduction of bad cholesterol, and less pills to take, and a loss of bad sulfur. Fitness and environment are key to the health of ourselves and the communities that we serve. It is like playing golf and realizing that from an activity standpoint, there is an increase of calories burned, steps, strength, stamina, and stretching. FUNRAZE. Doug Hall, the inventor, who has helped many entrepreneurs develop new products at the Eureka Ranch in Cincinnati, Ohio, built Deming-like systems through collaboration. In his sessions, he looks at entrepreneurial challenges as fun. We need fundraisers. I am embarking on a 12-town study and report on community recreation, education, arts and media, travel and transportation, and entrepreneurship. Co-Create is my speaking, singing, story, stepping, study success plan in 12 communities that we will adopt a breakthrough of questions. Our goal is to get 33 new entrepreneurial members into the Colorado chapter of the Leading Foundation, who will be mutual shareholders in innovation and endeavors. And it will be fun to join us. Please send an email to Richard PD809 at gmail.com. Tell us who you are and what you do. Where is the community you live and work in, and what idea you would like to see come to fruition? This is not a competition. Charlie Lennon and I will set up a time to interview you and schedule a community event. The essence of creation is recreation. With the Create Daily, I'm Richard B.
