Catch all of this and more, in this weeks broadcast. Thank You, and have good rest of your week.
Hello, my name is Aiden, and welcome to this week's weekly news recap, including the following stories. Structural concerns in the CMIT building. Connor on the street interviewing students about the music they're listening to. And lastly, our upcoming event being held this weekend called Vinyl Thon. Don't forget to watch this week's broadcast to hear the entirety of the stories mentioned above. Starting off with structural concerns in the CMIT building. These increasing concerns were sought out and reported on by Izzy Spence. The communication, media, and information technology building here on campus holds various staples of the college, including the IT department, Berea Makerspace, and Berea College News and Radio, where I am now. And various classes on commuter, computer science, communications, and film. But with a building full of so much content, students have begun to voice various safety concerns regarding the building, such as tiles falling in recent months, having to be replaced on the second floor, issues with private restrooms, and lastly the editing bays where pieces of metal have fallen. Izzy Spence reached out to the building manager, Chloe Blankinship, who said.
SPEAKER_02We reached out to the building manager Chloe Blankinship, who responded saying, Yes, we did have some issues with sealing tiles in the past, but good news, they were reinstalled this year with a more secure structure. If students notice any issues in the building, they can email me directly at blankingshipc2 at barrea.edu, and I'll pass it along to facilities to get it fixed.
SPEAKER_01As this story develops further, we shall keep y'all in the loop, ending this section of this week's broadcast. Next up, we have Connor taken to the street to ask our students what songs students are currently listening to, which received various responses.
SPEAKER_00With vinyl thaw just around the corner, I went out and asked students what music are they listening to? I am listening to Blue Hotel by Chris Isaac a lot.
SPEAKER_03The lyrics are a little bit silly, but I really love the guitar.
SPEAKER_01If you wish to hear the others, please do so by watching this week's broadcast, which then closes this section. Now lastly, Berea College News and Radio is holding an event this week known as Vinyl Thon, where we and those who volunteer provide you, the listener, with 48 hours straight of vinyls played here on our radio. This weekend we will hold various events such as Open Mic Night, BCNR Breakfast, and Root Beer Pong, where you'll have the chance to hang out with us here in the office. You can also catch a glimpse of us playing said vinyl on the TV outside of our office, which you are more than welcome to stop by and say, hey, we may need the conversation. I myself will be spinning vinyl tomorrow night from 10 to 1 a.m. All of these vinyls spun on a fairly complex player, but we do it for y'all. That closing out this week's broadcast. Thank you for listening and check back in next week for more news. Also, if you haven't yet gave our website a look, please do so at www.bcnnewsradio.com for more information regarding broadcast and upcoming events being held in our space. Like has already mentioned, vinyl thon. Goodbye and have a good rest of your week.
